CNBC Poll: Biden Falls to 41% Approval as Public Loses Hope on Covid and the Economy
Welcome back to the Obama Economy. Only worse this time, somehow.
Just 41% of the public approve of President Joe Biden's job performance, compared with 52% who disapprove, according to the CNBC All-America Economic Survey. Fifty percent now approve of his Covid-19 handling, compared with 53% in July, and 45% disapprove, compared with just 38%. Inflation now ties with the coronavirus as the biggest concern for Americans, up 16 points from the prior survey.
President Joe Biden's approval rating slipped deeply underwater in the CNBC All-America Economic Survey as Americans soured on his economic leadership, lost some confidence in his handling of the coronavirus, and grew increasingly concerned about inflation and supply shortages. ... Biden's negative 11-point net rating compared with a positive 3 points in the July survey, when 48% approved and 45% disapproved. Behind the decline is a surge in negative views of his handling of the economy, with just 40% approving and 54% disapproving, a 7-point increase from July. A bare majority of Americans still approve his handling of the virus, but the margin narrowed considerably. Fifty percent now approve compared with 53% in July, and 45% disapprove, compared with just 38%. The president's numbers are declining as concerns about the economy, inflation and supply shortages rise sharply. Inflation now ties with the coronavirus as the biggest concern for Americans, up 16 points from the prior survey. A plurality of 47% of the public believe there will be a recession in the next year, up 13 points from when the question was last asked in 2019. ... Recession worries come with increasingly negative views about the current and future state of the economy: 46% say the economy will get worse in the year ahead, the most in the 13-year history of the poll and 79% judge the economy as just fair or poor, the most since 2014.
... Just 31% say now is a good time to invest in stocks, the lowest since 2016. Jay Campbell, partner at Hart Research Associates, the Democratic pollster for the survey, points out that Biden's numbers on the coronavirus are particularly worrisome since he believes Biden's perceived ability to deal with the pandemic was a major reason for his election. ... The survey clearly shows Americans noticing the supply and labor shortages that are plaguing businesses. Some 60% of the public say goods that were once easy to buy are in short supply, including food and groceries, paper products, and cleaning products. Also, 66% appear to have noticed labor shortages, saying they have experienced stores closed on odd days or at strange hours when they normally would be open.Meanwhile, network "news" shows are embargoing the polls.
The Joe Biden presidency is collapsing and the networks don’t want you to know about it. Two just-released polls have found the Democrat at record lows. But between the evening newscasts on Tuesday and the morning shows on Wednesday, offered zero coverage of the very bad news for Biden.Rasmussen has even more bad news for President Turnip Mash: clear majorities do not believe he's mentally competent to hold the job of president, nor that he's even making his own decisions.
Rasmussen Reports surveyed 1,000 likely voters and asked, "How confident are you that Joe Biden is physically and mentally up to the job of being President of the United States?" A full 50 percent said they are "not at all confident," while another eight percent said "not very confident." In fact, only 27 percent said they were "very confident" Biden was up to the job of being president, while 14 percent said "somewhat confident." Basically, only 41 percent of voters believe Biden has what it takes mentally and physically to be president. Rasmussen also asked, "Is Joe Biden doing the job of president, or are others making decisions behind the scenes?" I have a guess on this. A few weeks back, Ace posted another poll thread, but about the media. It said that 7% had a high degree of trust and that about another quarter or so had a moderate degree of trust in the press.
The 27% are a mixture of hardcore political hacks who want their bread to keep bettered (no more than 1%, if I had to guess) and the rest are those people who still trust the news for some reason. I suspect that the overlap on the "thinks Biden is very competent" and the "moderate to high degree of trust in the press" Venn Diagram is significant.

I agree, strongly and completely. People don't know how to prepare for a massive wave of inflation; but stock prices will almost certainly soar, as money hides there, even as the economy collapses. People still think the stock market is related to the economy, it isn't. It's simply a measure of how much liquidity the treasury and the fed are pumping into the system, and the worse things get, the more they will pump.
I expect DJIA to be over 100,000 within a year.

When I found some web news sources and especially AoSHQ and learned how coordinated the FNM are and how they all ignore inconvenient stories it was a shock to my psyche. Also my 81 year old dad still watches hours of local FNM. I was talking to a recruiter that called me a few hours ago. They are looking for talent that will come in to the office. Anyone good is telling businesses to pound sand because no one wants to deal with the traffic, crime, costs and hassle of going to an office in town.
Employers are doing evil shit to discourage people from wanting to show up (masks, vaxx mandates, testing, CRT classes, diversity bullshit, damned Millennials who won't mind their own business and insist on being your fucked up life coach)
Then they wonder why no one wants to come in and work near them.

I'm just a lay person and have no problems finding over 70 studies over the past forty years all saying that masks have no significant medical benefit.

I've conducted phone screens where you can hear their keyboard clacking as they enter your question into google, then their answer is the top response from google.
I've heard people flushing the toilet as I'm talking to them.
I've had people ghost me at the interview.
I've had people call after they arrive an hour late with no notice, angrily asking why I didn't meet them at the door.
I've had people in the interview room fail the simplest coding question I can think of, even though their resume says they've been working in the industry with that specific technology for a decade or more.

Some people just plain freeze at coding questions. I've seen people who I know have the chops act like they never saw a computer before.
We had this one guy who otherwise checked out as a senior level, but when asked to do a simple coding exercise just went catatonic. it was spooky.

But one of the guys at the interview was the man in charge of this particular operation and it was his baby, his big project and he did not respond well to this information.
Joel said later that he should have just fed them a line of nonsense and technobabble just to get the job and eventually it would work, but he'd have the cushy job, pay, and benefits for all those years until it came to reality. But he answered honestly and truthfully.

Yes, that absolutely happens. I've gone blank in a coding interview before. When someone is struggling, I give them time to think, but if they're obviously panicking or take a long time with no progress, I'll start walking them through the thinking process, then I would start giving hints, then if that doesn't help, I'll even write parts of the code and invite them to fill in parts.
If none of that helps, you're either a nine on the social anxiety scale, or you lied on your resume. It's pretty easy to tell who's just panicking and who really doesn't have a clue.

I've seen that in interviews. I'm not great at coding questions but I can usually handle the logic-side of things.
My wife absolutely freezes. She's lost I don't know how many job opportunities. She does not interview well.

I did an interview that asked me to do some basic tests and stuff with Word Perfect. I had claimed I was conversant with it, because I was... about a year earlier, or more. I'd typed up a ton of stuff on it at college to make money.
But uh, by that point, I'd largely forgotten all the key commands and was completely hapless. The interviewer gave me one of those "yeah I've had people lie to me before" looks but damn... I used to know

I've gone for an on-site interview only to have the manager not show up, then call me for another appointment, and then not show for that one and push me onto her subordinates. I politely declined an invitation to come back a third time and talk with her.

I think it has more to do with incompetent management making a Blue Ribbon Committee of staff and consultants to Come Up With Something.
They sit around knowing that this is a worthless mission since influenza has been around since the dawn of history and it isn't like today's management is the first one to look at ways of reducing the spread of infection.
But the imbecile narcissists running things firmly believe, like Communism, this time, with them in charge, it will work and they will do what no one has ever done before.

I had one place assure me multiple times that the interview would be with one person, not a group. I, of course, immediately assumed that meant it would be a group interview. Sure enough, as I was walked back to the interview, there was a smirk by the guy leading me back and "oh Person X is in court so sorry it's going to be a group interview instead." I smiled back and said "Yes. That's what I assumed. I read the same how to test an applicant articles as you do." That brought everyone up cold.
There was also the place that had me cool my heels for 45 minutes. I figured out where the camera was about 15 minutes in and then, when I finally had it, I took out some paper and wrote "I know you're watching me" and held it up. The guy I was supposed to be interviewing with came out like two minutes later and was laughing oh you figured it out. I shrugged and told him that the only reason I stayed is because I wanted to tell him directly that if a company starts with playing games like that, there is no way I would trust them and I walked out. Three years later he was busted for having cameras in the women's bathroom.

Give them homework. Tell them to do this thing over the weekend. Then have an interview once they complete the work and then drill them on why they did it a certain way and could they have done things differently.
You may find some rock stars with that method.

A couple of years ago, before the vid, we interviewed a guy who claimed to be "advanced" or "expert" in just about everything. I scribbled a dozen or so lines of C ("advanced") on the whiteboard and asked me to walk through it with me. He asked me what a couple of the functions I used did. Those functions? malloc() and free().

Pay was kind of lower than I wanted so I turned it down - nicely.
