Brian Laundrie's Body Found?

Different sources are now saying it's "highly probable" or that there's a "strong probability" that the remains are Laundrie's.

[Yesterday], the FBI has announced that they have found human remains in a Florida nature reserve where her boyfriend Brian Laundrie was believed to be hiding. Along with the remains, they also found items belonging to Laundrie.

A backpack and notebook known to be owned by Laundrie were found nearby the remains.

The remains apparently haven't been DNA tested yet which is why they aren't confirming the identity yet, but it's a good bet this is Laundrie. The fact that the material had been underwater suggests he may have died sometime during the last month and then his body was covered with water which is why law enforcement couldn't find him.

I mean... if I were writing this as a novel, that sure wouldn't really be his body. It would just be the body of a male victim helpfully wearing Laundrie's backpack.

I'd incorporate this into the plot, too.

Law enforcement officials searching for Brian Laundrie have made some disturbing findings unrelated to the case of his murdered fiancee Gabby Petito.

At least five other bodies have been found in the manhunt, according to the New York Post.

One of them was 33-year-old Josue Calderon, who was found at the Yadkin Valley Overlook in North Carolina, one of the locations where Laundrie was rumored to be hiding out.

Investigators said Calderon had been stabbed to death.

Then there was Robert Lowery, 46, who was found in Wyoming near where Peitito's remains were discovered in September.

Lowery had committed suicide, according to the Post.

The body of Sara Bayard was found in El Paso County, Colorado, where Petito and Laundrie had shared a photo of themselves the same day Bayard was reported missing.

Lauren Cho's body was discovered in Yucca Valley, California, thanks in part to the nationwide interest in the Petito case, the Post reported.

The body of a homeless man was also found in a Mobile, Alabama, dumpster the same day reports emerged that Laundrie could be in the city.

These tragic discoveries highlight how many missing people there are across the U.S. and how often they are overlooked and forgotten.

There was an anecdote in the great true crime book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets. A hundred cops, mostly cadets from the police academy, were organized to do a close search of a woods to find a murder victim's body. The woods were known to be a dumping ground for murder victims.

One of the senior cops told the cadets, half jokingly (or maybe less than half), "Don't bother with any of the other bodies you find besides the one we're looking for, otherwise we'll be out here all night."

I have this idea, and call me crazy because it probably is, but I gave this idea that the reason the crime statistics have been going down is mostly because cops and prosecutors aren't doing their jobs and simply not reporting and brushing shit under the rug.

It's like the Stoneman Douglas shooting. It seemed like such a safe school only because so many admins and cops were just brushing problems under the rug. See? No problems here!

84 Well. I get me points for being right on how they'd find him.

I think he was trying for longer. I would bet he knew the water came and went for whatever reason and killed himself while it was dry knowing that the water would hinder finding the body. Couldn't manage a grave of some sort I guess. No caves or loose rocks around to snuggle into and not enough carrion predators to be certain his body would be eaten and dispersed.

What a way to go. He should be applauded for his ability to see his future very clearly and wanted no part of it. I would bet his parents had some inkling of what he was going to do.

This also inclines me to believe Petitos death was an accident of some sort. Note to anyone who can't control their anger: stay away from women especially those who like to tease and see how much they can make someone angry. Yes there are quite a few of them.

And fewer police reports. Check it out for yourself. Go to one of those "what's the crime rate in this Zip Code" sites and punch some in. I did this a couple of years ago when we were looking for a place for my folks to retire.

What you'll find is that big, nasty cities like Baltimore have low property crime and sexual assault rates, while tony suburbs have much higher rates than inner cities. Those tony (and even average) suburbs are much safer, so why does this happen? The best answer I can come up with is "reporting." In the bad places, that shit is just a fact of life and no one reports it because there's no point - nothing ever gets investigated and no one gets punished. Why bother? The result is a low official crime rate for that stuff. In the suburbs, people report.

In 1992 the Clinton people, all of them 60's radicals, asked themselves what the most insulting thing they could do to the military would be. They figured out that it would be to make them take the homos into the barracks and on board the ships. It had NOTHING to do with homo rights and EVERYTHING to do with sticking it to the folks in uniform. If you recall, that was the transition's first public initiative before they even got inaugurated. So yeah, the black people getting shot and the black shooters do not care much about stopping it. Posted by: gp Sets In Motion Various Apparatuses at October 21, 2021 11:35 AM (qpX6U)

249 There was an anecdote in the great true crime book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets. A hundred cops, mostly cadets from the police academy, were organized to do a close search of a woods to find a murder victim's body. The woods were known to be a dumping ground for murder victims.

He looks at the body- obvious murder. Asks if anything was found with the body. Says no. He asks if the cop looked. The cop equivocates. He tells the cop to go back there with some men and bring everything they find to him.

Presumed to have been murdered and disposed of by a neighbor in the Forbes Sangre de Cristo ranches in Southern Colorado. Neighbor, a convicted pedophile who had skipped out on his parole (from Clo. Spgs) a few years earlier went into hiding the same day and was never interviewed by the cops. This was literally in Dog the Bounty Hunter's back yard, but because the story got almost zero media coverage, Dog had no interest in doing what he supposedly did, i.e. hunt down bail skippers and parole absconders. __________

It's interesting to read accounts of people who have survived gator or croc or shark attacks. Most of the ones I've read have said that they didn't feel the bite as one might imagine (razor sharp teeth sinking into flesh and tearing it, etc.). They say they just suddenly felt an enormous amount of pressure in that part of their body where they were bitten, but they didn't really feel any pain. Then when they get pulled under they go into shock and don't recall much past that point. It's when they get rescued and realize what happened that they start to really feel the pain of the injuries, and then it's excruciating. Obviously we can't know what is experienced by the people who don't get rescued in time, but it's possible they never feel any pain at all before they die.

Considering that it missed the target range by about 30 miles, that would follow. It's not as if you need pinpoint accuracy for an EMP.

But as usual, it turns out that the ChiComs didn't develop the weapon themselves, but just reverse-engineered some Russian gear.

I think the fact that kids are hooked on on i-phones hasn't helped with interest in reading, but since it's mostly women who set the curriculum there are not going to be a lot of adventure stories. I'm not really disagreeing with your point, but I think parents have more to do with fostering an interest in reading than school does. Granted I grew up before the net but my mother would have thought it a heresy if I didn't like reading and there were always books at home and we went down to the library.

413 I'm not really surprised either that people and bodies regularly go missing in forested land, enough to become a cliche. Note that I said "forested" not "wooded" or "city park", an actual heavily forested tract can easily conceal remains, especially after a few days. People don't normally go into forested areas, except on trails or to hunting stands these days. And the number is decreasing as the Boomers age and gens Y & Z choose not to "engage the outdoors" in many places. Yeah, the current crop of Daniel Boone and Simon Kenton types is vanishingly small. And as Paulides notes, all to often the officials who should be leaving no stone unturned seem....disinterested...in obtaining a solution.

As a general thing Richard Bachman is not supposed to be as good as Stephen King. Maybe those novels were written on cocaine and worm-in-the-bottle mezcal.

The main exception is the duel of the Stephen King personalities presented by the same story as written by each personality:

"Desperation" by Stephen King
and
"The Regulators" by Richard Bachman

Jesus...

You've heard of the 90s slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer? Well, the woman who wrote the book the movie was based on, her youngest daughter was murdered in 1989. Cops fumbled and bumbled and didn't do shit (Albuquerque police were apparently particularly lazy and corrupt). In the end, the guy who did it fessed up. It was just a few months ago, in fact. Decided he couldn't live with the guilt.
