Most computer applications nowadays can read FEN, so those of you who may want to study the position, you can copy the line of FEN and paste into your chess app and it should automatically recreate the position on its display board. Or, Windows users can just "triple click" on it and the entire line will be highlighted so you can copy and paste it into your chess app. ___________ So that about wraps it up for this week. Wolves can be very dangerous. Especially to livestock.
WA state has several wolf packs and they are expanding their range. Most ranchers use the three S rule in dealing with them. I've found wolf tracks around my friends home just north of I-90 in central WA. If their dogs have to go out at night he has to get up to cover them. See also, cougars. 54 You & I looked at different branches, but same idea
I saw your branch but omitted it because Pixy generally stops me from posting if I write too much. Both branches end up with: WK on g5 WP on g4 BK on g7 or h7 (possibly f7 in other branch -- I did not calculate that). But f7 is same as h7. From these positions W must not move the pawn until he gets to the 6th rank or B may be able to draw. Posted by: You Really Don't Want to Know at October 23, 2021 05:05 PM (nLrWw) 66

A friend who lives in eastern Ontario tells me that there, the wolves are cross-breeding with coyotes. When we lived in Austin, husband used to swim at Barton Springs through most of the fall and winter. Brrr.
Anyway, one day he was approached by some Greenpeace kid asking him to sign a petition to outlaw whaling. Well, we'd recently been to the Makah Cultural and Research Center in Neah Bay, Washington. (You REALLY have to want to get there.) They have a large exhibit about Makah whaling. Traditionally, some guy had to jump into the frigid sea to sew the whale's mouth together to keep it from sinking. Wow. He asked the kid what Greenpeace's position was on the indigenous Makah people's traditional right to take whales. He said the kid looked like his head was going to explode with trying to process the conflict. Good times. Posted by: Art Rondelet of Malmsey at October 23, 2021 05:13 PM (fTtFy) 78

I tend to keep cars for more than a decade. And I buy them when they are getting older anyway, these last 10-15 years. But I get everything fixed and I live where there is no rust. Once you get out of the monthly payment trap, it's not hard to have cash to fix them with. 500-1000 a month you don't mail out adds up quick and absolutely nothing you didn't find in a field needs 500-1000 a month to repair. Hey, all,
I'm back from taking the late Wolf, the big black cat, to the vet in preparation for his cremation next week. Thanks to all for your good thoughts. I hope I can do him the honor of speaking about him the same way I did when he was here, not whitewashing his personality or making him out to be an angel. A couple of weeks ago I bought a new estate pipe -- black, rough-surfaced, and with a big bowl. I often nickname my pipes. This one clearly will become the "Wolf pipe." Longest I've owned a car? The '84 Ford Escort. Purchased new in early 1985, after the Volvo I had burned up while I was driving it. (Yes, I got out, obviously.) I traded the Escort in late 1991, so 6.5 long, long years. The thing was gutless (I think 85 hp, and the A/C loaded it down), it began to rust early around the hatchback, and it stranded me or caused me a major $$ repair every year I had it.
When I bought the '89 Olds Cutlass coupe, I handed the guy the Escort's keys and never looked back. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at October 23, 2021 07:00 PM (c6xtn) 335

Apparently, some of the guards at Nuremberg were former Lithuanian Waffen SS.
- I've mentioned a couple of times the Netflix documentary Final Account in which former Nazis and accessories are interviewed as they are rapidly approaching the rainbow bridge. Many excuses are made. One former SS guy says he was with the good part of the SS, not the bad part of the SS. None says, "I did it and I'm sorry." One guy is completely unrepentant although he allows that Hitler may have gone a bit too far in some instances.
