The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“The Hellcat is a breed of its own,” Perez-Ocana said. “It’s a 6.2 with a huge supercharger. I wanted to have a car that captured the most, pure form of American muscle and modern form, and the Hellcat seemed like the best option,” Gabriel Perez-Ocana

Quote II

"No more Waffle House for me. At all," Candy Franklin

Quote III

“While I have never painted before, Hunter has inspired me to immediately begin painting because I’ve always felt I have a talent at that, and could surely get at least $2 million dollars per canvas—and probably a lot more. I will begin immediately. Our Country is crooked as hell! President Donald Trump

Quote IV

"Re-litigating 2020 is a recipe for disaster in 2022. Let’s talk about the future. The election is passed, it’s been certified, the states made decisions on the integrity of each of their elections and made improvements where it need be. It’s about the future, it’s not about the last election, and that — those kind of comments are not constructive. We can win in 2022 and we’re going to, but let’s focus on the important issues of our supply chain, of getting over this pandemic, about freedom, and not the — not the last election." Gov. Asa Hutchinson (RINO-AR)

NYC continues its attempts to erase all history that doesn't offend its sensibilities.

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- The New York City Public Design Commission voted unanimously Monday to move a controversial 188-year-old statue of Thomas Jefferson from the City Council chambers a City Hall.

However, where that statue will be moved to remains up in the air.

Some days I miss the rotary phone and the world before the world wide web.

Mike check 1, 2, 1, 2 — she’s an unruly passenger terrorizing the flight attendant crew.

Armed with a microphone headset and an inflated ego, an unnamed woman is going viral with over 1.9 million social media views for disrupting a commercial flight with her unsolicited COVID-19 musings over the weekend.

“I brought my microphone, I’m going to use it,” insisted the freakish flyer, whose amplified antics were caught on camera and shared by singer Jawny.

The pop musician close-captioned his trending TikTok — which has been hilariously nicknamed “Karens in the Air” — with notes reading: “We are in the air right now,” and “I bought in-flight WiFi just to post this.”

Jawny did not respond to The Post’s request for a comment.

But in his video, flight attendants are seen attempting to stop the “Karen” — wearing a white button-up blouse, dark blue bottoms and a colorful neck scarf — from giving an unauthorized pandemic lecture by threatening to confine her in handcuffs.

A valid point: How will the emotionally and mentally unstable fair in the "Real World"?

Oberlin College is the pricey liberal arts school which lost a massive defamation lawsuit filed by Gibson’s Bakery back in 2019. Oberlin has a fancy house called Baldwin Cottage which was built in 1886 and which is currently home to the Women and Trans Collective. The school’s website describes the collective as “a close-knit community that provides women and transgendered persons with a safe space for discussion, communal living, and personal development.” Basically it’s a special dorm that has living space for about 30 people.

The student paper, the Oberlin Review, reported last week that the school decided to upgrade the radiators in Baldwin Cottage but, to the dismay of some residents, they sent “cisgender men” to do the work. [emphasis added]

I'm not a big Bongino fan. However, I like the fact that he fights back.

Cancellation can be a two-way street.

Nowhere is this more true than in the strange world of advertiser-targeting, long seen as a viable strategy on the left to choke off funding to conservative media. Leftist organizations like Media Matters for America and Sleeping Giants have run this grift for years with questionable success. If you’re unfamiliar, here’s how it goes:

Identify successful conservative media entity. Find out who advertises with it. Publicly call advertisers out on social media or through other channels. If possible, get a few more low-wattage blue checkmarks to pile on the outrage. If the advertiser doesn’t respond or doesn’t acquiesce, declare all-out war. If advertiser caves, chalk up another victory — and onward goes the march to ideological uniformity!

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…the world’s fastest nonmotorized human beings? That’s right. The Parachute Association National Championships blasted off from the Skydive Arizona dropzone this weekend. The event, which runs through Oct. 31, is expected to bring 400 skydiving competitors to the American Southwest.

I guess Pope Francis has a different Holy Bible than I do.

Pope Francis released a video message advocating more left-wing politics on Saturday, in the latest attempt by the Vatican to reassure the world that Catholicism is on the side of social justice. The pope praised deceased felon George Floyd as a “Good Samaritan,” and provided a moral endorsement of violent BLM rioters.
“Do you know what comes to mind now when, together with popular movements, I think of the Good Samaritan?” the Pope declared. “Do you know what comes to mind? The protests over the death of George Floyd. It is clear that this type of reaction against social, racial or macho injustice can be manipulated or exploited by political machinations or whatever, but the main thing is that, in that protest against this death, there was the Collective Samaritan who is no fool!”

“Beer before liquor, never been sicker; liquor before beer, you're in the clear. I don't see any negative reactions to this, do you?

The FDA is expected to allow a "mix-and-match" approach for COVID-19 booster shots, The New York Times reported.

The authorization will allow Americans to get a different brand for a booster than what they initially received.

On this day: October 18, 2002 - Ronettes
After a 15 year court battle, New York State's highest court ruled that the Ronettes, did not have the right to share the money earned by their producer Phil Spector through the use of the group's songs in movies, television and advertising. Citing a 1963 contract signed by the group, the court also substantially reduced the amount they stood to gain from royalties on sales of records and compact discs. via thisdayinmusic.com

Another reason to be thankful for the Second Amendment. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Early this morning, a Eugene, Oregon couple was rudely awakened by the sound of a home invader forcing his way into their apartment. The male occupant of the apartment grabbed a firearm and, well, shot the criminal.

According to KEZI . . .

The Eugene Police Department responded to reports of a burglary in progress around 3:40 a.m. at South Crest Apartments on Donald Street. According to officials, neighbors called 911 to report gunfire before patrol officers were able to arrive on scene.

71 The FDA is expected to allow a "mix-and-match" approach for COVID-19 booster shots, The New York Times reported.

It is time to disband the FDA. Clearly there is no need for them since it is no longer a requirement to actually test and study a food or drug. Just have Wallensky or some other mentally disturbed person declare by fiat that a toxin that has killed tens of thousands and maimed hundreds of thousands is "safe" and it really doesn't matter what is forcefully injected into your body just as long as it isn't the Russian version.

Can we please quit pretending that any of this is for health reasons?

A smart lot manager would have thrown a noose down on the pavement where the car once was parked.

That would bring in dozens of FBI agents for whatever theater of investigation would be performed.

The Waffle House has been ruined by the lockdowns. They used to be open 24-hr, 365 days per year. FEMA even had a Waffle House index to gauge disaster severity. If the Waffle House was open, things weren't too bad. If the Waffle House was running on a limited schedule, with reduced hours or menu, then things were getting bad. If the Waffle House was closed, then the shit had hit the fan.

Well, locally the Waffle Houses are running a sporadic schedule, closing early, some closed all the time. It's staffing and supply chain problems.

We are fucked when the Waffle House has gone down.

That Chicom hypersonic glider is a BFD. The trajectory that can be used is very different from the standard ICBM trajectories, which come in an arc over the North Pole. All of our defenses are based on that.

This thing can come in at a much flatter angle, with controlled gliding through the upper atmosphere. Also, they could come from the South Pole, and our early warning systems would be useless.

They could also destroy our carriers. Glide in a tactical nuke (at hypersonic speed) and vaporize our carriers.

Colin Powell served this nation. Politically, I agreed with some of his stuff and disagreed with some of his stuff.

But for at least ONE day, on both the Left and Right, can everyone just give him the honor and they would give any veteran who so selflessly served? A quick review of internet news sources tells me, nope.

I'm guessing his family and close friends don't care, only that he is gone.

258 I didn't know if Catholic doctrine taught that you need to follow certain Catholic rituals to obtain salvation.
Posted by: Bitter Clinger

Hmmmm. Like all things Catholic, it's multi-faceted. Let's use an easy example: In order to obtain salvation, one must be free from all mortal sin.

In order to be free from mortal sin at death, one must have never committed a mortal sin during one's lifetime OR have had any mortal sins committed forgiven through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (or Last Rites).

So, we can say Catholics have specific rituals to help them be prepared when we die.

Popes come and go, but not many make any actual changes to Catholic doctrine. We're obliged to pay attention to what they have to say, out of respect, but need not agree.

If one is Catholic, then one is obliged under penalty of sin to partake of a number of Church rituals: Sunday Mass, communion during Lent/Easter, etc. Aside from the meat of the thing - the sacraments and the examples of Christ and the saints - it's really just an impressive accumulation of rigorous theology by some of the best minds of Western civilization.

Judging by all of the lawsuits, protests, data from around the world, actual claims by the manufacturers, numerous physicians, lab scientists, clergy, overworked undertakers, VAERS and Medicare databases, personal testimonies, complete lack of a control group "testing", the very fact it is still EUA, he must have a very different understanding of the word "reason".

Police preventing crime, rather than reacting afterwards, requires a huge amount of walking and talking with people. If 99% of their interactions are with criminals and victims, then they become jaded and lose respect for the community.

Don't offer to let a Portland anarchist and his girlfriend live in your place.

Camillo ( who you know as trumpet man) and his girlfriend just tried to overtake my apartment. I let them stay there after they reached out to me from Seattle, telling me that they were houseless and needed help. I paid for their train ticket and gave them my space to stay in.

My only condition was that they keep things clean on their end, as I have a bit of OCD with leaving stuff messy, and I expressed that to them multiple times. After an initial argument and disrespect from him, his girlfriend apologized on his behalf and told me shes also being subject to abusive behavior and threats from him. A week or so later, I picked up their clothes off the floor so that I could start cleaning things myself since they weren't. They got belligerent and started yelling at me telling me not to move things in their apartment.

The next day he made a post on IG antagonizing me saying that he was squating my apartment and inviting me to come jam. I pulled up with my friends, with women and de escalators trained in mental health and domestic abuse, to help get them out. I asked that they leave again.

Instead of getting their stuff and leaving, his girlfriend choosr to go on live and spew lies and gaslight me. I gathered their belongings and put them outside. She than attacks my friend who was helping move their stuff, and at that point we removed them from the apartment.

They had the police called, whether or not they actually called themselves, due to her screaming and making a scene. They told the cops from outside the apartment complex that they were assaulted and told the cops what apartment we were in.

Yep. Cable began as a "commercial" operation in 1950, the year Orwell died. And some amateurs ran local cable networks prior to that. My parents' home was on one such circa 1963.

I really, really doubt, though, that "cable TV" was at the forefront of Orwell's mind as he wrote 1984. But it didn't need to be. Two-way radio was well understood, and TV was commonly seen as the logical extension of radio, so 2-way TV was probably anticipated by anybody with imagination.

-Good old fashion swashbuckling and daring do were a requirement. In the old usage: It had to be 'Romantic' in the sense of Alexander Dumas.

Sure there was some stuff that in hindsight was pretty cringeworthy, but I do not regret it- not one line.

480 If I were on that train, and whacked the rapist, say by jamming a lead pencil into his ear canal, I wouldn't stick around. Pull the emergency cord, and unass the train as it came to a stop.

I was thinking something a bit more subtle, simply provide a professional blood choke, put the perp to sleep, set him aside and then escort the victim out at the very next stop where you both depart and disappear into the night.

It will not startle the passengers, and you stand a much better chance in court by claiming all you were trying to do was restrain the rapist long enough to safely depart. (well actually you wouldn't claim anything, your lawyer would work that out)

Around here, it used to be the Waffle House was the place to go when you were hungry as hell at 3AM, usually due to have take someone to the ER or some other calamity. You'd get damn good food at all hours.

Sadly, that is not the case anymore. Hell, that FEMA index may apply. The Waffle House is down, and that means the country is fucked. SOS. Economic Defcon 1.

Another good post from "el gato malo" = the bad cat, on myo/pericarditis risk stats from Ontario:

https://tinyurl.com/yzk6vtpv

The Bad Cat's Substack is pretty good. He was banned from Twitter a long time ago for verbotten info.

He makes a point about how they're obfuscating the risk -- total risk is additive there, because dose 1 and dose 2 don't overlap.

Anyway, his point is that, under normal circumstances, these vaccines would've been pulled based on the myocarditis risk alone, not to mention all the other adverse reactions.

763 >> Any idea on earnings since this whole farce launched?

Their profits on their Covid vaccine alone are several times those fines. This is just the cost of doing business to them.

The US govt., if it wanted to, could shut Pfizer down for these criminal violations -- the corporate death penalty. But they don't do it, they just fine them, and occasionally some executives have to do a stint in Club Fed for a bit. The reason is their afraid it will tank the economy. Same goes for various other Too Big To Fail outfits that run afoul of the law.

Just give Uncle Sam a piece of the action in fines, and the company survives to keep doing what it does.

Indeed. The point of this is that leaky vaccines do nothing to lower infection and transmission. There was a paper out the other day. Not correlation between infection rates and vaccination rates at the country level, and at the county level in the US.

No correlation. Vaccination has no effect on infection rates. These non-sterilizing vaccines are worthless for stopping infection.

Posted by: publius, Rascally Rapscallion (Mzdiz) at October 19, 2021 01:55 AM (Mzdiz)

At the country level, there is a slight *positive* correlation between vaccination rates and infection rates (meaning vaccination correlates with slightly *greater* infection). Make of that what you will.

But the conclusion is these vaccine have no effect on infection and transmission.

Funny story of my youth. A guy named "Buddy" who was a ditch digger, and a millionaire ditch digger -- he made a killing doing septic and sewer work. Said the key was to do what most folks don't want to do, and the big one was handling shit.

Anyway, one day as a teenager, I happened to be in an old country store when Buddy stopped by to get a drink. He came in, wearing a T-shit and pair of old jeans, covered in mud. He opened a drink box, pulled out a 20oz Pepsi, and inhaled it one gulp. As he bent over the drink box, half his ass-crack shone to the world.

He then let out out an impressive blech, and apologetically said, "Sooey!", meaning he was a pig, and apologized for such porcine behavior.

He paid Miss Nell the cost of the "drank" and strode off, jumping in his truck to handle more shit.
