64 from wiki:

The Incoherents (Les Arts incoherents) was a short-lived French art movement founded by Parisian writer and publisher Jules Levy(French) (1857-1935) in 1882, which in its satirical irreverence, anticipated many of the art techniques and attitudes later associated with the avant-garde and anti-art movements such as Dada.

111 I really like Rusinol's landscapes. This painting shows the same attention to soft detail (to make up a bad term) but it is rather depressing. No one is having a good time to judge by their expressions. Are they early and expecting another day of dreary drink and company? Are they still there late, perhaps as the sun comes up, and numb from the booze? It would make a great illustration for a depressing post-WW I European story.

It's not a bad painting. It's just not an enjoyable scene. Glad to know the artist even if his other paintings are more attractive for my taste.

118 Three simple steps to success:

Try to assassinate the president to impress Jodie Foster

Spend a few decades in the loony bin

Get released and then pimp your Spotify and YouTube channels on Twitter

I'm not made of stone, so I checked out Hinckley's Spotify. It's just him singing and playing an acoustic guitar, sort of desultory country-rock, and it sucks ass. He writes hit songs like he kills presidents. Jodie ain't gonna like this either.

And now you don't have to listen for yourself. You're welcome.

But again, I think this is more about their comment on their supervisors being too stupid and lazy to notice. And the person who dictated that be done had to know someone would notice at some point.

Experts say the ruling means the third-degree murder conviction earlier this year against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in George Floyd's 2020 death likely also will be tossed out. Slightly Spoilery:

I'm slightly curious about it since I read the comic book graphic novel. But, on paper it didn't really have an ending beyond people got old and died and were dikish and perverse while doing that.

There was a never developed hint that they might be under observation, which wasn't developed in the comic and could be the "twist".

Anywho, opinions?

I think there is a huge cultural component to comedy. Something can be hysterically funny because of some cultural weirdness happening at that time, and then be just dumb a few years later.

Add in that surprise is a needed component to comedy? and it often does not age well.

I don't know how much this pattern happened with Lucy's case, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Are we talking about thr show, or his stand up? Because Seinfeld's stand up has to be some of the worst stand up there's ever been. "I'm uptalking, ain't it hilarious?!?" The guy was like Mitch Hedberg but after massive head trauma.

His standup is straight up old man observational humor, which if your old like me, is funny too.

In fact, in one of his specials, he announces when he's going political, and a button pops up on the screen that lets you skip that part, and it jumps you to a point where he finishes off with "and that's how I came to love Trump"

591 Level 5 atmospheric river to unleash flooding across drought-stricken California

After nearly a year without rain, a series of potent Pacific storms are directed at Northern California this week, potentially bringing as much as a foot of rainfall and up to three feet of snow in the Sierra Nevada.

U.S. Sen. Mike Braun will welcome any Chicago police officer looking to defy their city's vaccine mandate to the Hoosier State, the senator said in various tweets and news outlets.

"My office stands ready to help connect Chicago police officers to an Indiana police department that is hiring now and doesn't have a vaccine mandate," Braun told Fox News. "Welcome to Indiana!"

610 The admin and media is so hopped up on Levine being a FOUR STAR ADMIRAL that no one asks why. Is the the head of the UPHS a 4 star? Is Levine the head of the UPHS? Is that a new appointment for Levine? When did that happen? None of that matters. A 4 star trannie! Wheeee! Posted by: blaster at October 21, 2021 10:50 AM (mbFEM)

I actually looked this up yesterday. The Surgeon General has been a 3-star admiral for many years. When the position of Assistant Secretary of Health was created in the 60's, someone had the bright idea that the Assistant Secretary should outrank the SG. It appears that about 1/3 of the time the AS takes the 4-star rank, about 1/3 of the time he/she (or he-she) remains a civilian, and about 1/3 of the time the SG serves as the acting AS.
