Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Katie Couric Reveals that Ruth Bader Ginsburg Slammed Kneeling Protests of the Flag -- But Couric Suppressed Her Comments Both to Protect the Leftwing Ginsburg, and the Leftwing Protests"Journalists" just care about the truth, right? All they care about is "informing the public," right? And, maybe, sometimes, suppressing facts which might cause dissent within the country's left wing, and which might hurt Democrats' unity.EXCLUSIVE: Katie Couric covered up RBG's dislike for taking the knee: Anchor says she edited 2016 interview to 'protect' the justice after she said people who kneel are showing 'contempt for a government that made a decent life possible' Katie Couric has admitted to editing out Ruth Bader Ginsburg's controversial comments from her 2016 sit-down with the late Supreme Court Justice Couric writes that she was faced with a 'conundrum' while working on the story for Yahoo! News, in her scathing new memoir, Going There, released October 26 The former Today show host reveals Ginsburg responded negatively when asked about people who kneel for the national anthem as a protest against racism The published story did include quotes from the justice calling the gesture 'dumb and disrespectful' but omitted more controversial remarks Ginsburg had also said that such protests showed 'contempt for a government that has made it possible for their parents and grandparents to live a decent life' '...which they probably could not have lived in the places they came from...as they became older they realize that this was youthful folly,' she added Couric claims that Ginsburg, who was 83 at the time, was 'elderly and probably didn't fully understand the question' She admits she 'wanted to protect' Ginsburg and felt that the issue of racial justice was a 'blind spot' for herIt's also harder to "cancel" critics of the kneeling protests as "racists" if a leftwing icon like Ruth Bader Ginsburg is joining the criticism. Which is a more salient reason for Couric suppressing these remarks: She wanted to keep the leftwing narrative "clean" of any adulteration and confusion. ... Couric, 64, writes that she always tried to keep her 'personal politics' out of her reporting throughout her career. But she faced a 'conundrum' when Ginsburg made comments about Colin Kaepernick, the former NFL player who became the controversial figurehead behind the national anthem protest against racial injustice. Couric felt that when Ginsburg said that people like Kaepernick were 'dumb and disrespectful' they were comments that were 'unworthy of a crusader for equality' like the liberal Supreme Court justice. The day after the sit-down, the head of public affairs for the Supreme Court emailed Couric to say the late justice had 'misspoken' and asked that it be removed from the story. Couric writes that she was 'conflicted' because she was a 'big RBG fan', referring to Ginsburg's moniker.Well, in fairness, this is only Katie Couric's first instance of selectively editing an interview to accomplish a leftwing agenda victory. No it's not. The makers of a new Katie Couric documentary on gun violence deceptively edited an interview between Couric and a group of gun rights activists in an apparent attempt to embarrass the activists, an audio recording of the full interview shows. At the 21:48 mark of Under the Gun a scene of Katie Couric interviewing members of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a gun rights organization, is shown. Couric can be heard in the interview asking activists from the group, “If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun?” The documentary then shows the activists sitting silently for nine awkward seconds, unable to provide an answer. It then cuts to the next scene.... However, raw audio of the interview between Katie Couric and the activists provided to the Washington Free Beacon shows the scene was deceptively edited. Instead of silence, Couric’s question is met immediately with answers from the activists. A back and forth between a number of the league’s members and Couric over the issue of background checks proceeds for more than four minutes after the original question is asked."Journalists" Only a Domestic Terrorist would claim they're shabby propagandists for the left. Willowed from the discussion of Superman old and new:
Kryptonite, remember, came in various forms: green (the really deadly stuff), gold (which robbed Kryptonians of their powers permanently), and red, which affected Superman for 2-3 days and forced some kind of change upon him, different each time. In one story all it did was give him a 6th finger on each hand -- awkward if Lois or Jimmy noticed it on Clark Kent. The left LOVES to talk about how "history is written by the victors" and how that necessitates their overblown, pendulum-swing reactions to "setting the record straight" -- like obliterating Columbus Day for Indigenous Peoples' Day, or focusing on slave ownership among the Founders while completely ignoring their thoughts toward the practice as well as any accomplishments they made.

The Left's affection for RBG was never genuine, it was always symbolic. Antonin Scalia probably had more honest warmth toward the woman than any of this twitter-head tik tok nitwits who publicly cried when she died.
She was the totem of their powerbase, which was supreme court rulings. The Left knows they can win most battles in the high court if they lose in the legislature. Gay marriage was eviscerated on ballots in almost every single state in 2008. It even lost in California. No problem: Scotus to the rescue. Ginsburg's death during the Trump administration was about power. Posted by: SMFH at October 13, 2021 04:00 PM (u/7wY) 117

Posted by: pep at October 13, 2021 03:57 PM (ZsR3z) You know something interesting: we live in an age when the values of business have diverged strongly from the values of the individual. They used to be one in the same. A guy would open a shop, so any law could mean the life or death of his business and his livelihood. It made him pay attention. The success of our society has made these two separate so that he can survive by either moving his business, moving to a new business or find a way around the law. Posted by: Braenyard at October 13, 2021 04:04 PM (yXf+h) I always wonder about this with guys like Lauer and Weinstein - Who said yes? Not out of any moral enlightenment, but just as a practical matter. So it had to work sometimes, and some women obviously owe their careers to saying yes. Palin got frustrated and "short" with her because she could tell exactly what Couric was doing. And she was a bit surprised, I think, and hadn't expected her/McCain's campaign manager to fail to prepare her for a hostile interview.
At one time there was a video out there that inter-cut video of Couric as she spoke with Palin and spoke with Obama. The contrast of her body language was outrageous. Totally apart from how she encouraged Obama to expand on whatever he wanted to talk about and repeatedly tried to force Palin into the exact directions that Couric required, just the contrast between her open posture and adoring smile and hunched tightness and sphincter-face showed exactly how "neutral" "objective" or "professional" she was NOT. I think the self-driving cars are 95%+ of the way there. Google's cars have driven thousands upon thousands of miles autonomously. The problem is, the last 5% or so have some really hard problems to solve. They don't just have to navigate roads and traffic and traffic signals and things. They have to also make decisions when there are no good decisions. Sometimes you have to decide between running over a kid, t-boning a bus, or driving off a cliff. Sometimes you have to navigate through a pile of cars where nobody's following the rules of the road. Posted by: bonhomme at October 13, 2021 04:39 PM (YYlyE) 390

LOL. Posted by: Axeman at October 13, 2021 04:45 PM (XHhHI) Jobs are strange sometimes. Usually there is a culture in place that encourages a certain type of work plan. I have managed sites where it was expected to work 6 days a week, 12 hour shifts (and I had to stand on people's necks to take that one day off.) Work like that self selects for people who want those hours (hate home life, live outside their means, drugs, etc.) My guess would be that a lot of these pilots knew what they were signing up for as far as 'voluntary' overtime and that when they suddenly choose not to work it, it is anomalous. I think the only way for self driving anything will be dedicated roads equipped with detectors and barriers and monitored 24/7.
Essentially that's what was done with the Interstate system. They had to develop a routing system that even the almost brain dead could use (and even then it fails at times) without causing too much trouble. The Interstates were also a reward to the Trucking Industry for not having any strikes during the war. That and Rail and airline regulations that fostered the false growth of the Trucking industry. The way it should work is trucks from plant to central point then rail then trucks again to sales point. But that allowed Rail and potentially air to have too much of the business. So Rail and Air were throttled and rules made to divvy up the country amongst the truckers and then the highways to tie it all together. And now we see the flaws in that sort of point source failure. The lack of Trucks or truckers can bring the entire system down (altho that 's not why we're having the shortages) Posted by: jakee308 at October 13, 2021 04:56 PM (tsmrH) 461

And that's why they would use central loading points. Some manufacturers/producers would have access to rail. (and you can get rail to a lot of places you might not think they could) but generally that would be the most fuel and time efficient way to transport goods from point to point.
