Plahing fetch with the neighbor.

Dog and cat, hugging.

Dog enjoys rain and puddles.

Corgi's butt floats.

Cocatoo perfectly mimicking a dog barking.

Sloths!

Coming through.

Dog teaches turtle how to play with a ball. Very cute. The turtle just keeps after it, kind of like in the fable.

Big kitten.

Dog gives no arfs about the high jump.

That's the cute version of a dog saying "Nah" to agility training.

Via Steve Inman: Here's the not-so-cute version.

Stupid tik tok tricks.

From a few weeks ago: Tactical Dee and Tactical Dum.

Andy and Brandy Tifa getting tough.

28 So today I'm checking my mother's checking account transactions since I now have POA and paying her bills. There was a transaction for a check in the amount of 20,000.09. Seems someone stole the mailed check sent to the utility company in the amount of 20.09 and altered the amount and payee. Idiots at Bank of America ( not the bank check written on) cashed the check. Now I have to go through a cumbersome process to try and recover the money. My bank is confident that I will get it back as the idiots at BoA did everything wrong. First time I've thought of actually murdering someone.

100 So today I'm checking my mother's checking account transactions since I now have POA and paying her bills.

207 A lot of folks I see around the internet are trying to suggest that the IRS is allowed to access all your banking info and the bank must comply. This is false. Joe Punchy can't order banks to provide it legally, and if he does and they do, your are allowed to sue the bank.

The IRS is actually governed by the IRC - the Internal Revenue Code - which has been devised through legislation, not through the whims or desires of some auditor or revenue agent at the IRS.

The banks provide information about your transactions thru legislated forms - mostly 1099s for interest or other transactions. But Congress authorized that. No one in Congress has authorized the IRS access to your personal banking records. To get that, the IRS has to go to court, yes that's right, fucking court, and get a summons to get it. They better have a good reason too, not fishing expeditions or "Judge, I'm IRS Revenue Agent Ultra Concerned and I just want it."

Ace has been really good at posting mostly screen captures from twatter in the past couple of weeks. Kudos. The funny videos unfortunately need to be embedded. As a positive, if you only watch the video and do not click to go to twatter, they get no revenue and only lose bandwidth from the views.

Friends don't let friends google. There's just too many decent search engines that are superior - if not just because of the fair results. DuckDuckGo has been outed as just as bad in manipulating their algorithm (manually or otherwise) but at least they're not handing over data. Yet. Qwant is ok, Ecosia is *very* good, and Brave is testing their search engine in beta. I use a gmail account to give to every GD company asking for an email account. I never go there, I never use it, save to get the password or whatever I sign up with. And goolag gets to store a bunch of junk mail forever. Thanks, jerks. The only SM I use is IG, and that's about over. They've gone nuts. Fuckwads.

Depends on the type. I had a couple of stunning red to dark green ones, and they were in full sun. In April they'd burst open in bright red, and slowly shift to a deep green. You really gotta search for one that will have good shape. There's also a chartreuse green variety that has almost fern like leaves, and it does well with a bit of shade. Very showy Also a bit slow growing.

Best bet. Local nurseries will know what's going to do best in your area, the amount of light, soil, water etc. and recommend. In the SF Bay Area we have so many micro climates that what does well here isn't the best choice half an hour away or up in the hills. My ex insisted on trying to grow for a warmer zone than we had. Which was great until we got a frost to wipe everything out.

Also like palo verde, but they're brittle, drop very strange long needle like leaves (not often) but are ablaze with yellow flowers every spring. The tree itself is green - not good for shade at all but showy.

298 By the way, retail banks like BoA are the least likely to violate privacy laws and give transaction data to the IRS without a passed Federal Statute directing it. The liability would sink them. They are required to provide account holders with a long list of the privacy rules that they are held by Federal Statute to uphold.

IRS Revenue Agent Pure-Body doesn't get to negate federal legislation because the agent got clearance from the boss who heard it from the boss who heard Punchy Joe mention it on TV. That's not how IRS legal rulings work. Otherwise, President Trump could declare on January 21, 2025 that no one has to pay income taxes and no one would get in trouble if they took their tax liabilities and used them to go to Cancun on vacation instead.

Yes! That is an absolute stunner! Bright red/magenta tree with chartreuse leaves - classic maple shape. I very rarely see them, perhaps they don't do well in this zone - or perhaps they're just rare enough that nurseries/arborists go for the easier to grow varieties. That - IRRC has red/yellow foliage when it first leaves out in spring, then it turns bright green. Doesn't get much showier, and even leafless in winter it looks good.

The nurse gave him a serious look, straight into his eyes. Knowing he was not only a fighter pilot, but a Marine, she spoke to him softly and slowly, enunciating each word: "You may not feel anything from the waist down."

Made a good chunk of change making step benches for the wives from discarded oak pallets down at the base Craft Shop. Put a strip of sapele (an african hardwood that resembles walnut. I was in Germany at the time) down the middle to make it look artisinal.

Posted by: Funsize (EiPf6) at October 07, 2021 07:25 PM (EiPf6)

When I left green peppers on the counter they just shriveled up. You might try uprooting the whole bush and hanging them upside down in the garage, that works for tomatoes, sort of.

Otherwise, you can put silver tarps down to reflect the sunlight, or if they are spicy just harvest them and use them green. I used green one for hot chili oil last year.
Peppers don't do well if there is a frost, but the colder weather encourages them to turn red too.

Well, my impression of Billy Joel just grew a ton. I'm listening to a Q&A he did in December 2019 for SiriusXM.

When someone asked him "how he sees himself" with regard to politics, and if/when he would speak out, Joel said "why do people ask a piano player about this?" and "I see myself as a court jester" and demurred.

It would have been so, so easy for him to make a cheap shot of Trump in that moment, but he didn't. Good for him.

Hah! Thanks!

Reminds me of a ward I was held captive in once upon a time. Open bay. Almost cute-ish E-5 LPN on night shift. Many catcalls upon lights out. I truly believe she enjoyed the attention. Ortho ward, so most of us were on happy pills, which provided a solid alibi.

Squad mates took good care of me. Had a window-side bed. 6 pack delivered daily. I was bedridden with a truly busted up fibula and ankle (landed on an old artillery bunker on a night drop). Guy next to me was in a body cast. A SGT in my company got there several weeks ahead of me (caught a big rock in the lower leg shattering stuff in mountain training), so he had wheelchair privileges and did the distribution. We embraced the power of "and" a bit, tis true.

Posted by: runner at October 07, 2021 08:40 PM (V13WU)

I looked it up and I think informal is like what you personally bring home, less than $2500

My shipments were way more than that and required a bond, which was handled by the shipper, like Locksons

Try going to the Mexican section of the store and buying Azote brand.
It is just saponified fats.

(I was also told to take a bar of ivory out of the wrapper for a week or so before using it, that was supposed to "cure" it a bit so it wouldn't melt away so fast)

420 short answer, runner :
it depends. depends on so very, very many things.
customs law makes the tax code look simple & straightforward.

we have always used a customs broker whose job it is to know all the nuance & whatnot ... , and really, can't say we have ever felt regret at the cost, which has usually (relative to everything) been minimal.

need i say ymmv ?

& now really g'night !

I would look at a ornamental cherry like yoshino

they grow pretty fast and get to 18 to 20 ft quickly and then over the years finish up at about 25 ft

where do live ?

Marketing class memory: Ivory Soap was getting a bunch of phone calls asking for their 'floating soap'.
The marketing department went out to the factory and found that one of the guys had 'blended' the soap for much longer than the process needed. The extra blending put more air in the soap so it floated.
Look at the weight of a bar of Ivory... The bars are lighter than other bars.

HCN, yes. From what I understand, the danger is from wilted leaves still attached to a live branch (like broken off branches after a storm) and they're more toxic spring as opposed to later, like now.

Leaves dropped lose toxicity. Livestock fatal dose for 180 lb sheep is in the range of 3-12 oz. I have no idea of number of leaves in an ounce.

The main concern seems to be for grazing livestock and not cats and dogs.

yeah, if they do this all the time, they'll take care of everything.

In London, I would travel around with a log book and shipper stickers. When bought something, I logged it and put a sticker on it. Then gave the log book to the shipper and went home

they would pick up everything and pack it. 5 weeks later it was on my doorstep

439 Credit abuse info...

Your credit card company will have some layer of protection. Sometimes you have to opt in, other times it's auto.

I have LifeLock. We got it after the big Target hack several years ago as my wife shopped there a lot. You have to understand there is a difference between "credit" protection and "ID" protection. They're not the same, although they overlap.

My wife opened up a new credit card and got an alert on her phone within seconds about it from LifeLock. Not saying it's the end all... but here's an example of a credit check.

The ID protection kicks in if someone pretends to be you. Successfully opens up a line of credit or buys something in your name. Other possible issues are property rights, vehicle registration, etc.

Weeping cherry is another nice one. Visually interesting, too.

444 VMom, my mom had a honeysuckle that originally went up a decorative post that was topped with a decorative beam that you could hang flower pots from.
Later the post fell over and we used a circle of sheep fencing to keep the honeysuckle coralled, going up and not sideways. It made a nice bush, and would have gone further up.
Honeysuckle is good for warmer weather, and wisteria for colder climates

450 FWIW, on small trees, both the Korean Dogwood (resistant to wilt diseases that affect domestic) and the Fringe Tree are both outstanding small trees with slow growth. The Korean Dogwood usually flowers several weeks to a month later than domestic and the Fringe Tree (Grancy Greybeard nickname) has white fringe flowers that linger for about 2-3 weeks if no strong winds or heavy rains remove them.

Tulip poplars are eastern America's largest tree and can easily reach 30-40 ft in height in less than ten years. They get fatter as they age but even a 40-50 year old tree can come close to 70-80 ft in height. The issue with Tulip poplars though is relatively weak wood which results in dropping branches etc. during storms or even breaking off the central trunk. The seeds are pretty nasty to deal with as well as they have a sharp prong and fill up gutters, driveways, etc. even if your neighbor has the tree. They seed freely like sweet gum trees in every possible area.

452 On tulip poplars, I have quite a few mature ones on property including one dating back to about the Civil War which is not uncommon. I have also had to spend quite a bit of bucks in removing some large ones close to the house because of lightning strikes, disease, and other such fun.

One significance of the tulip poplar was it was the last living Liberty Tree from the American Revolution in Maryland. I believe died about 20 years ago or so at St Johns College in MD. It was estimated to be about 400 years old.
