Back in the '80s, I got to go out on our Coast Guard's training ship Eagle to see an America's Cup race off Newport, RI. it was a much calmer day than your painting. We motored out but coming back the crew went aloft and set the sails. Amazing sounds when all that canvas is a-whipping and a-snapping.

It was the last race America won in the tournament. We lost the Cup by loosing the next three in a row.

130 Now that we are past 100, if anybody missed this on Buck's thread, I got my approval today for religious exemption from the clot shot! They say, of course, that I have to adhere to their testing guidelines. I haven't even bothered to look at the; I'll dodge it as long as possible.

. . . I still worry about the "testing requirements". Considering the PCR test does not work . . . and there are a ridiculous amount of cases of false positives. So depending on the post-"positive test result" protocol, I am just as worried about "COVID-19 testing" as forced "vaccination", depending on what is the post-test protocol. Forced 14-day quarantine? Forced doctor visit to get treatment? . . .

Posted by: Tall Cool Gentleman in a Black Suit at October 15, 2021

No idea. If I get a positive, I'll demand a re-test. If I have to take the 14 days, I will do not one lick of work while I'm gone, and if they try to use my vacation or sick days I'll threaten them with a lawyer.

There was a movie called 'The Independent' about a very prolific but never successful independent film maker. He made incredibly pulpy films, one of which was "Christ For The Defense", which really did feature Jesus come back to earth to act as a defense attorney. Every time He stood up to make an objection, a choir of angels would burst into song.

167 This is one powerful painting. Ivan Aivazovsky has captured the drama and power of nature against man and his inventions. But it isn't complete defeat. Even if this ship founders there is still defiance by man shown in the spot of color of the pennant at the top of the mast. I don't know how big the painting is but it must be something to be seen in person.

I never heard of this artist but want to learn more. Looking at the Wiki page examples, he has an ability to capture the look of water and light combining in many different settings that is as good as any I have ever seen.

Thanks, CBD, for this one. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed in Leigh-on-Sea.

We were called to an address in Eastwood Road North shortly after 12.05pm today (Friday 15 October).

We attended and found a man injured. He was treated by emergency services but, sadly, died at the scene.

A 25-year-old man was quickly arrested after officers arrived at the scene on suspicion of murder and a knife was recovered. He is currently in custody.

We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

341 Willowing from the previous thread...

The left has wanted to destroy the single family home neighborhood for decades. They are now actively doing it on a mass scale. A few cities, like Minneapolis most notably passed laws banning SFH neighborhoods. A few weeks ago, CA did it on a state wide level. No more single family home neighborhoods are allowed anywhere in the state. Any plot of land currently zoned R1 (one home per lot) can now have up to 4 homes on it. And this isn't for future developments. This is for current plots as well. Meaning your neighbor can build 3 additional homes/apartments in his backyard and there's not a thing you or your city can do about it.

And as we all know, the crazy shit in CA becomes mainstream in a decade.

Transgender activists are so confused about what constitutes a woman, that they have actually stopped using the word "woman" entirely and are now referring to women as...NON-PROSTATE OWNERS.

Wokeness doesn't just "deconstruct" womanhood...it erases women altogether.

He got back his pension, he got 200k in back payments, his lawyers got a cool 500k, his firing has been expunged from all the records Pharaoh style, he also gets special gold executive cuff links and his badge back mounted in a decorative and ceremonial frame.

And I'm fairly confident to a high degree of certainty he got his security clearance back.

Unbelievable.

I am Christian - Lutheran, technically - and my profession of faith will not be fraudulent. I may not attend church but I am a believer. Originally, my objection to the "vaccine" was based on the baby killing. As I have learned more, I am also unconvinced that they are safe. That, however, does not remove the original objection...merely adds concerns about any they come up with which don't use murdered children.

My highly ecumenical Ministry is open to believers in all faith traditions, but one belief we all share in common is that the COVID-19 vaccine is FORBIDDEN.

Like spiders above the flame, we are but sinners in the hands of an angry G-d, and COVD-19 is a manifestation of His wrath. A cheap obviation like the vaccine will not fool the Lord, but will engender MOAR WRATH.

And mandating believers to take it is an abomination against G-d and against man, who is made in His image.

End of story.

Part of the problem is there is now a "professional class" of such people, whose livelihoods ride on inculcating this crap, and will fight for it because their leisure-class sensibilities rides on it.

I was struck by this recently when Merrick Garland got himself into school board arguments, the fool, and it then emerged his son-in-law supports Garland's daughter with this stuff.

Surviving in the "professional class" means surviving in a bureaucracy. One doesn't survive long by criticizing against the bureaucracy.

What we're seeing, over and over and over again, is that the "professional class" - and Hell, I'm technically one of them - is not composed of independent thinkers. They're moderately trained lemmings, mostly lacking in any kind of analytical skills, following their particular professional organizations.

This will not end well.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but as I recall what he said was something along the lines that even if tax revenues go down as a result of high tax rates, it's "the right thing to do."

Agreed, they don't think in terms of revenue per se. As long ago as the 1940s they publicly admitted as such, stating that with a printing press, strictly speaking, they don't need to tax anybody. It's about punishment, or something. That's where the JEF was coming from. It's just "fair" to tax some people, because reasons, or something. They don't need the money, but they want to fuck with people who work for a living, I guess.
