I am now finished and my final actual costs are known (not that it's ever finished, it's just that now it's ongoing maintenance rather than costs associated with move and setup). My top five spending items, in descending order:
1. The house itself
2. Furniture
3. The move
4. Home improvements
5. Repairs/maintenance

What I learned: moving - the actual act of packing, loading, hauling all your shit across country and then unloading it - is very expensive.

That's my point, though. And *then* they deepfake Biden. They've trained you to dismiss that response to fake so you shrug it off as 'well, I already know he uses a set. . ."

Reminds me of the tactic of fighting conspiracy theories with more and more outrageous ones so that people start rejecting all questioning/speculation as ridiculous (see: Axelrod's Truther strategy).

192 Now that I think of it: A year or so back I wrote an SF short story where a group of enclaves in Finland were the last civilized outposts of humanity. Year 3000 or so, I think. Yeah, kind of a "Heinlein juvenile" story. It was fun to write, and to research Finnish words and customs to throw into the tale for flavor.

They're really only good with completely new simulacrums of a person. They don't do faces that your mind is already familiar with very well. There seems to be a stickiness in our minds for faces we're familiar with that triggers the uncanny valley quickly if small things are off. Celebrities and politicians. But faces we're completely unfamiliar with and are made up morphologically from existing features using the algorithms that do that are often able to trick people for a while. Your mind is scanning over features of that new digital profile and is trying to make it work so it can remember that person. There are websites online that put up a new synthetic profile every time you refresh the screen and typically people are not very good at picking the fakes. They already filter out the weird ones where the program hands coming out of the forehead and stuff.

Acting is not a rare or difficult skill, and the Depressive often doesn't even think anything is wrong. It just feels like the world is taking a never-ending runny diarrhea dump on your head, and your ever-growing irritation at it is perfectly sane and logical.

It gets oppressive. You don't want to do anything anymore. Not leave the house, go to work, etc. But there's no red flags to warn you that what you're feeling isn't entirely real. There's reality in it, but the darkness is exaggerated, the shadows lengthened, and all the world is seen through a dark gray lens.

Yeah. Moving really has a sliding scale in where you want your pain. What's your constraint - time or money? It takes a lot of both regardless, but you have a lot of flexibility as to which way you spend more. On this move, time was paramount. I had three days off of work, giving me a total of five days to get loaded, finalize, hit the road, and get out to the other side of the country. My move actually took a long time - 2.5 weeks - because I deferred some things to weekends, but my personal downtime was minimal.

this is not true

the very worst thing about moving is the packing, followed by the unpacking.

I would gladly move every box, haul the load, do anything and everything but any packing and or unpacking.

378 You want a fun time with moving? Try having to deal with everyone else's stuff. There's stuff from my husband's second wife, her mom and dad, all the kid's stuff, stuff left here by someone that my husband let use the garage and my husband's stuff. My stuff has been picked through multiple times and I keep throwing stuff out. The two kids won't deal with the stuff here, which is why I am stuck here. And very unhappy that I don't get to use any of my stuff, which is packed away for the move that never happens. A dumpster would be nice, but useless unless I have help.

And you can't get every book online. None of my craft books are online as well as some of the older books I have. And I get to deal with my husband's boat books that he wanted to go to the Martime Museum, which means me making the trip. Count your blessings

She was young and stupid, the age when a lot of other people are doing stupid things that thankfully go under the radar, so I imagine she's mad about that. Kinda like how people have one bad moment caught on video go viral and destroy their lives.

HOWEVER, she's the one who chose to pursue a married man - the POTUS, no less - so it's on her (wasn't even her first older, married man). She must have seen what happened to Gennifer Flowers and Paula Jones in the media, so the notoriety could not have been a total surprise. I have no sympathey for her.
