1. The house itself 2. Furniture 3. The move 4. Home improvements 5. Repairs/maintenance What I learned: moving - the actual act of packing, loading, hauling all your shit across country and then unloading it - is very expensive. Now that I think of it: A year or so back I wrote an SF short story where a group of enclaves in Finland were the last civilized outposts of humanity. Year 3000 or so, I think. Hordes of yammering barbarians are attacking and nearly all the other enclaves are leaving Earth, so the family in the story boost their house into space to relocate to another Earth-type planet. Yeah, kind of a "Heinlein juvenile" story. It was fun to write, and to research Finnish words and customs to throw into the tale for flavor.

They don't do faces that your mind is already familiar with very well. There seems to be a stickiness in our minds for faces we're familiar with that triggers the uncanny valley quickly if small things are off. Celebrities and politicians. But faces we're completely unfamiliar with and are made up morphologically from existing features using the algorithms that do that are often able to trick people for a while. Your mind is scanning over features of that new digital profile and is trying to make it work so it can remember that person. There are websites online that put up a new synthetic profile every time you refresh the screen and typically people are not very good at picking the fakes. They already filter out the weird ones where the program hands coming out of the forehead and stuff. Posted by: banana Dream at October 07, 2021 09:09 AM (4D/dn) 198

As a Marine brat I grew up expecting to move every two years. Took me a long time to get used to being in one place. The worst part of the biannual migration is it was always done at the end of a school year. Really retarded my baseball gainzz.

You want a fun time with moving? Try having to deal with everyone else's stuff. There's stuff from my husband's second wife, her mom and dad, all the kid's stuff, stuff left here by someone that my husband let use the garage and my husband's stuff. My stuff has been picked through multiple times and I keep throwing stuff out. The two kids won't deal with the stuff here, which is why I am stuck here. And very unhappy that I don't get to use any of my stuff, which is packed away for the move that never happens. A dumpster would be nice, but useless unless I have help.
And you can't get every book online. None of my craft books are online as well as some of the older books I have. And I get to deal with my husband's boat books that he wanted to go to the Martime Museum, which means me making the trip. Very first time she met Clinton, she showed him her thong. She wrote about "presidential knee-pads" before she even got to the White House. Not excusing Clinton, but Monica came on to him. She knew what she wanted. She was young and stupid, the age when a lot of other people are doing stupid things that thankfully go under the radar, so I imagine she's mad about that. Kinda like how people have one bad moment caught on video go viral and destroy their lives. HOWEVER, she's the one who chose to pursue a married man - the POTUS, no less - so it's on her (wasn't even her first older, married man). She must have seen what happened to Gennifer Flowers and Paula Jones in the media, so the notoriety could not have been a total surprise. I have no sympathey for her. LOL my company just announced that its replacing one of the 401(k) investment options with an "equivalent" fund (that specializes in ESG). At double the expense ratio.
Guess not enough employees were choosing the already-available ESG fund on their own. So they are going to count on people not following their portfolio and being auto-transferred into the new fund. Woke POS. Posted by: Revenant at October 08, 2021 05:10 PM (c3dw6) Processing 0.05, elapsed 0.0518 seconds. |
