The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“I understand that you’re the principal military adviser, but you don’t decide, the president decides, but if all this is true, General Milley, why haven’t you resigned?”Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR)

Quote II

“All our son did is ask the questions that everybody was asking themselves, but they were too scared to speak out loud. He was asking for accountability. In fact, I think he even asked for an apology that we made mistakes, but they couldn’t do that, which is mind-blowing.” Stuart Scheller Sr.

Quote III

"There is no room for players who are willing to risk the health and lives of their teammates, the staff and the fans simply because they are unable to grasp the seriousness of the situation or do the necessary research," Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Quote IV

“We will be looking at what contract-tracing looks like in the new world order – yes it will be pubs and clubs, and other things, if we have a positive case there [but] our response may be different if we know people are fully vaccinated.” Dr. Kerry Grant, New South Wales chief medical officer in Australia

I'm just thinking out loud here. I'm wondering if a member of the Religion of Pieces was busy in Sweden?

Swedish police are investigating whether an explosive device may have been planted at an apartment block in Gothenburg following a huge blast which caused serious injuries to residents.

Emergency responders said that the blast did not look like an accident, in a country that has suffered dozens of actual or attempted bombings linked to violent criminal gangs in recent years.

"It's obvious that a crime cannot be excluded," Interior Minister Mikael Damberg told a joint press conference with Prime Minister Stefan Lofven.

The powerful explosion ripped through the building in the Annedal district shortly before 5am on Tuesday, sending panicked residents fleeing.

The Vaccination Nazis strike again. North Carolina based hospital axes unvaccinated employees.

A North Carolina-based hospital system announced Monday that roughly 175 unvaccinated employees were fired for failing to comply with the organization’s mandatory coronavirus vaccination policy, the latest in a series of health-care dismissals over coronavirus immunization.

Novant Health said last week that 375 unvaccinated workers — across 15 hospitals and 800 clinics — had been suspended for not getting immunized. Unvaccinated employees were given five days to comply.

Novant Health spokeswoman Megan Rivers tweeted Monday that almost 200 of the suspended workers, including those who had submitted approved exemptions, received their first dose by Friday. The hospital confirmed that the rest of the suspended employees who did not comply were fired, although the exact number of those dismissed was not specified.

And if employees aren't being fire. They are quitting.

BOSTON, Mass. — The State Police Association of Massachusetts says dozens of troopers are resigning their position with the Massachusetts State Police in response to the governor’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

“To date, dozens of troopers have already submitted their resignation paperwork, some of whom plan to return to other departments offering reasonable alternatives such as mask-wearing and regular testing,” Michael Cherven, president of the State Police Association of Massachusetts, said in a statement Monday.

Take the money and run. Not only a song by Steve Miller but also an interesting art piece.

A Danish artist who was loaned $85,000 cash by a museum to use in a pair of artworks instead turned in two empty frames under the title, Take the Money and Run.

Lasse Andersson, director of the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg, said the facility loaned artist Jens Haaning $85,000 in Danish kroner banknotes to recreate two of his earlier works that featured cash in a frame.

Do you have an Amazon account? Do you have $999 burning a hole in your pocket? Amazon has a robot for you.

Amazon on Tuesday announced its long-rumored home robot. It’s called Astro and will sell for $999. I had a chance to check it out in a demo with Amazon last week and wanted to share a few thoughts on what Astro is, what it can and can’t do, and why Amazon decided to build a home robot.

Astro seems like a strange gadget for Amazon to launch. The company is best known as an online store. And most of its operating profit comes from its AWS cloud business.

Notably, Astro is a “Day 1 Edition” product, which means it won’t be sold to everyone at first. Instead, Amazon will ask people to sign up and then invite them to order the robot. That allows Amazon to avoid building too many gadgets it won’t sell and a public flop like the Amazon Fire Phone, which was discontinued in 2015.

Amazon said Astro will go on sale later this year but did not give a specific launch date. It’s worth noting that Amazon has made similar promises about future products that either never launched or were severely delayed.

So, why robots?

There are many bear parts that are used for medicinal purposes. However, I've never heard of boiled bear urine as a beverage before now. And on top of that it's a great excuse to use when you burn thousands of acres.(H/T redc1c4)

A former forestry student-turned-shaman and yoga teacher has been charged with starting a huge California wildfire that has destroyed 41 homes - and was being investigated in connection with other fires - after claiming the blaze was triggered accidentally while she tried to boil bear urine so she could drink it.

Alexandra Souverneva, of Palo Alto, was charged Friday with felony arson to wildland with an enhancement because of a declared state of emergency in California, Shasta County District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett said. The 8,500 acre blaze the 30 year-old is accused of starting has wrecked 41 homes, and 90 other structures.

Souverneva pleaded not guilty but could face up to nine years in state prison if convicted. She is also suspected of starting additional fires in Shasta County and throughout the state, Bridgett said. It wasn't immediately known if she has an attorney who could speak on her behalf.

She wouldn't know what constructive dialogue was even if it grabbed her by the nipple.

Greta Thunberg has excoriated global leaders over their promises to address the climate emergency, dismissing them as “blah, blah, blah”.

She quoted statements by Boris Johnson: “This is not some expensive, politically correct, green act of bunny hugging”, and Narendra Modi: “Fighting climate change calls for innovation, cooperation and willpower” but said the science did not lie.

Carbon emissions are on track to rise by 16% by 2030, according to the UN, rather than fall by half, which is the cut needed to keep global heating under the internationally agreed limit of 1.5C.

“Build back better. Blah, blah, blah. Green economy. Blah blah blah. Net zero by 2050. Blah, blah, blah,” she said in a speech to the Youth4Climate summit in Milan, Italy, on Tuesday. “This is all we hear from our so-called leaders. Words that sound great but so far have not led to action. Our hopes and ambitions drown in their empty promises.”

Lucy Vodden, the childhood pal of John Lennon's son Julian, passed away at the age of 46 after losing her battle with auto-immune disease lupus. SEPTEMBER 27--A customer shopping for a used car discovered a naked woman pleasuring herself in the rear seat of a 2010 Jeep Wrangler parked outside a Florida auto dealership, according to an arrest report.

Police were called Wednesday afternoon to Bob Tyler Toyota in Pensacola after “a customer complained to a sales associate about a naked woman in the back seat of one of the vehicles on the sale lot.”

When a dealership manager opened the Jeep’s door, he said he spotted Alexis King, 37, “naked, with her legs spread wide open.” A receptionist reported that the suspect was “pulling at her vagina.” A third employee, who called 911, told police that a coworker called him “to the front lot to get a vehicle that a homeless woman was inside pleasuring herself.”

Feeling Misanthropic today. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

An Oklahoma dad is the hero we all need right now after he delivered a bloody beat-down to a local pastor he caught allegedly touching his 9-year-old son.

Michael Coghill, 33, had a clean background check when he was taken on by the Lakehoma Church of Christ in Mustang, Oklahoma, but he seems to have had a habit of jogging past a bus stop each morning where he would stop and chat with the children waiting there.

This was where he allegedly struck up a rapport with a little boy, who told his father that Coghill had touched him inappropriately.

207 Seattle has solved the problem of evictions!
Now, if a landlord wants to evict a tenant they must pay for the first, last and deposit on the tenants next lease.
Also, rent increases of more than 10% must have a six month advance notice instead of the current 60 days.
So far the city has managed to dole out 11% of the federal money to landlords who have carried deadbeats for the last 18 months. The city also extended its eviction moratorium into Jan 22. The state extended theirs into November. And, plastic grocery and takeout bags are banned statewide Friday. Welcome to Progressivevile.

First you build trust with the bear. Approach slowly with a big smile to put the bear at ease. Tell a joke or two to build rapport. Once close enough, scratch behind its ear. Then once the bear trusts you pee on the bear to give it an idea of what you want. The rest is easy.

The Covid post from someone that calls themselves Spartacus. It's the best review of the Covid nonsense I've seen. Posted in comments earlier today.
Hello,
My name is Spartacus, and I've had enough.
We have been forced to watch America and the Free World spin into inexorable decline due to a biowarfare attack. We, along with countless others, have been victimized and gaslit by propaganda and psychological warfare operations being conducted by an unelected, unaccountable Elite against the American people and our allies.
Our mental and physical health have suffered immensely over the course of the past year and a half......
Now, we are watching the medical establishment inject literal poison into millions of our fellow Americans without so much as a fight. We have been told that we will be fired and denied our livelihoods if we refuse to vaccinate. This was the last straw. We have spent thousands of hours analyzing leaked footage from Wuhan....

325 Papa Was a Rolling Stone is my favorite Temptations track, especially the 12" extended version. Absolutely amazing studio work, by a whole lot of players. I listen to it at least once a week, and a whole lot more from that era and style. More than any other genre by far.

It's really a sad shame that the black music industry, by and large, has fallen so far from such greatness. From two dozen virtuoso players and singers to Autotune mumbling over uninspired computer-played trap beats. I wish I could slap them all upside the head sometimes, strap them into a chair Clockwork Orange style, and force-feed them Motown, until their minds get right.

331 There will be a rental unit shortage soon as the smaller landlords are selling, especially if they're single family houses. Premium prices for now. It's a good time to get out.
There have been reports already of bidding wars on rental units. Offers to pay higher rent for desirable properties.
There is also a requirement that rentals MUST be given to the first applicant, no credit checks allowed or, criminal background checks.
I am so glad to be out of that shithole.

336 How does one go about obtaining bear piss?

1. Prep the glans with iodine solution
2. Hold the bear's penis in your left hand, this will be your 'non-sterile' nand.
3. With sterile nitrile glove, remove sterile bear catheter from its package.
4. (and I cannot stress the importance of this step too much) lubricate the tip of the catheter liberally with aqueous lubricant (K-Y jelly).
5. Insert catheter into bear's urethra and advance it until the bear squeals
6. Allow gravity to drain the bladder, emptying the urine into a suitable container and secure the lid.
7. Withdraw catheter and run as fast as you possibly can.
8. Look back over your shoulder to see the bear grinning from ear to ear, gesturing for you to come back.

353 It's really a sad shame that the black music industry, by and large, has fallen so far from such greatness.

Pop music has been truly ruined over the last 25 or so years. I know I am old enough that maybe my opinion could be like the Sinatra fans that hated those darn no talent Beatles, but I even liked a lot of the rap of the 80s and 90s. There was some inventiveness there. Now everything is more corporate and computer produced and commercial than even the Archies or the Osmonds were. Sure, people can go out and find cult bands that practically no one has ever heard but it has been decades since you could run across actual art by accident.

371 What Greta Thunberg wants would require a significant reduction in world population and a significant reduction in real quality of life for everyone.

Now the funny thing is in the real world this is a constant problem people face - things they won't are worth the cost. And in the real world people then...go without.

But then when paying the cost goes to the government, the left pretends those costs just...disappear. So of course for someone like Thunberg all this is confusing. Everyone tells her they can do all this enviro-nut stuff for free...so why don't they just do it?

I'd agree with the punishment of Ltc. Sheller, except, there is already a track record of serving military criticizing a GOP administration without repercussion.

These things are about three times as thick as the old plastic bags, but RECYCLABLE. Problem solved, and the whales are saved.

Except that I've ben tracking all the bags we buy. So far this year we've bought nearly 250 of these stupid bags and they go directly into trash once the groceries are unloaded. Our plastic bag waste by weight has probably tripled since they began forcing us to buy the damn things.

Yep, same here. But I believe they started out at 0.2 mg and raised it later when they saw it was well-tolerated and seemed to be more effective at larger doses.

I hope you both are doing better tomorrow.

I did a quite of bit of traveling in the past year (moving from CA to TX after seperating). Theres no way to prove it, but I think the daily multi that has zinc along w/ the vit d supplement played a part in keeping me from getting covid. meh. they deactivated all of the national guardsmen in wa state who were doing vaccinations and testing. and medical surge teams as well as contact tracing.
you gotta remember that guardsmen called to title 32 or title 10 active duty are leaving their jobs and lives to go do ash and trash missions. and if they get pissed, they quit, and then manning numbers go down.
no one, from the pentagon to the governor's mansion, wants a state's national guard end strength down. so its a delicate balance.
plus... guardsmen are from the local community. so bob the plumber who is working at the hospital doing plumbing stuff in uniform lives there. he ain't gonna shit where he eats and he joined to (supposedly) help his community. not for the college $$$.

556 Before Covid, Barry's Wood Fired Pizza (at the intersection of Richmond & Fountainview) was THE BEST pizza in all of Houston. Alas, after a 37 year run, Covid did 'em in.

Which leaves a small chain, Brooklyn Pizza, as the sole remaining Superior Provider of Pizza in the Greater Houston area. The reasons are simple.

Their owners are old school OLD SCHOOL Guidos from Brooklyn, for realz. They have the ingredients flown in from Brooklyn, three or four times a week. And they hold the quality control to SpaceX standards, as a constant. Finally, as is The Pizza in NYC Standard, you can go in and buy a SLICE of pizza, vs. being forced to buy the entire pie. Perfect for a lunch. Two slices is a more than filling dinner. Buy the whole pie though, and that box o' pizza makes for God's own leftovers, in the fridge.

Well, instead of nothing. You just use left-over BBQ for a BBQ beef pizza, not fresh BBQ beef on a pizza. Which is just not necessary.

Freeze the extra beef after a BBQ session, and some night someone says, "I want pizza." And you say, "I got this."

Anchovies, Mushrooms and sardines all give that umami flavor.
My wife makes a gochujang paste that uses anchovy powder and a type of fermented miso, and that makes the pizza sauce pop.
The extra chilies make it pop twice.

597 We make lots of jokes about Greta.

But I've got a positive prescription that just might be of some good, for her.

Hook her up with a young, mid '20s Special Forces type. Maybe new to the Teams, maybe a bright green Beret. Top of his game, other than much seasoning afield. But, seasoned enough.. well, put it this way. By time a Tab, a Beret or a Trident is earned, the young troop is a Seasoned Veteran of the Velvet Fields.

Let such connect with Greta for a two week leave. "Red Pilled?" Well, by injection, right? Call it a soy-rejection injection, if you will. Victory is turning her into a gunslinging, coal-rolling Jeep Girl of the Muddiest Order. That's what I'd call a "WIN".

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. LSD. Magical mystery tour was another song drenched in drugs on that album I believe. The had Ravi Shankar playing on a few of their songs/albums at the time.

I couldn't talk to my parents about anything. My Dad would just put if off and ignore it. My Mom would make fun of it and then blame me for it happening. A year or so before I left for the military she asked me if I wanted to talk to her about anything (i presume about girls and sex and stuff) I told her a flat no. She was probably the least likely person for me to talk to about personal stuff and she earned by working hard at being obnoxious.
Much later in life when we got into it over some stuff she'd done she said to me; "Can't we just be friends". (I presume because i was trying to work some things out in my head cause I couldn't afford a shrink. I just laughed at her and hung up. I think I didnt speak to her again for a couple years and she responded by writing me a letter telling essentially to go away and don't let the door hit you on the butt and btw have a nice life.
If you had any sort of decent parent and they are still alive shower them with kisses, gifts, hugs, money and tell them that you love them and apologizing if you ever screwed around and made trouble for them. They are a rarity.

604 Oh and for you parents if you want your kids to be close to you in your later years, listen to them and their troubles don't be in the parent mode unless absolutely necessary. Be in the older friend mode and listen and be accepting of any weird ideas or thoughts. Then you might be able to guide them when it's important and they will trust you to talk to.

634 Jake, I had a lousy and contentious relationship with my father from the time I was 12. My parents were older, my mother was 37 when I was born and my father 9 years older, so it was a bigger-than-usual generation gap. Though my mother and I were good friends, so I got lucky there.

My father once said to me, literally, "You were all right until you began to think for yourself." From that day forth I made a *point* of thinking for myself and letting him know about it at every opportunity. Which didn't help.

I last saw him in 1976, and I'm sure he's gone now. I really don't know what I'd have to say to him now if I could talk to his 50-year-old self.

635 I have had heartburn just a few times, talking to my mom and she gets it often. Suggested not eating before bedtime for some period. Haven't at least our and half and hasn't happened again.

Oh, I'd tried that, and taking OTC heartburn meds and antacid tablets, even some old-school baking soda and water (which works great for quick relief, but loads you up on sodium). The thing that worked was cutting out sugar and anything with the corn syrup in it. I've been slacking on that recently; got to cut it out again.

636 As for my mom and I, I wish I'd paid more attention when she was talking about her childhood and youth, and I wish I'd asked more about daily life in the '40s and '50s. She was born in 1916 and saw the Depression and WWII as well as the Korean War.

I know Clark Gable was her favorite movie star (she liked David Janssen in The Fugitive partly because of his resemblance to CG). And she must have seen It's a Wonderful Life when it was new. Whenever the actor who played Clarence the angel would show up on a late show movie, she'd say, "That's my angel!" I never asked what she meant, and I wish I had.

She introduced me to the James Bond novels and the Nero Wolfe series, two of my major formative influences.

640 legal insurrection headlines that story as "California's 'Fawn Fire' ALLEGEDLY Started By Student-Turned-Shaman Claiming She Boiled Bear Urine To Drink" at their website, but as "California's 'Fawn Fire' ACCIDENTALLY Started By Student-Turned-Shaman Boiling Bear Urine To Drink" at their twitter site.

641 It's a neat trick, really. Felony Arson should be a Capital Offense, get right down to it.

And Crazy People should be locked up, get right down to it.

Through legislation though, over the years, society has become incapable of defending itself. So we're left with a Huge Police State, millions of people employed to "protect" us, and none of them can do anything about anything.

So California has legions of mentally ill people running around starting forest fires, and the best they can do is (maybe) lock her up for a couple years. At taxpayer expense.

Russell is a little late to the party.

Sad there are millions more that will never make it to the party.

Had to get past a door-guard at hospital today (yesterday by now, lol) and questions were:

1) been exposed to coof?; 2) had a positive test?' 3)any symptoms?; 4) do you know the symptoms of coof?

Um, no, after 18months of coof coof coof, never EFFING heard of it... Sheesh!

648 My heart goes out to those who were abused.

My folks never assaulted me, but I knew there were *some things* I couldn't talk with them about. Anything to do with birds and bees, of course, were never to be mentioned when I was a teen.

649 So so tired-- DH just can't stay asleep long enough for me to rest. FML

It isn't alzheimers, but is similar... can't turn my back or close my eyes for more than a few minutes.

God help us.
