New Emails: Hunter Biden Tried to Use His Father To Get Billions in Libyan Assets Unfrozen, In Exchange for "Success Fees"

If the scheme to use political connections to get the US to free up billions of dollars' worth of frozen Libyan assets, and then take a percentage cut of that, sounds familiar, it's because Hillary Clinton's Master of Whispers and Chief Conspiracy Theorist Sydney Blumenthal was trying to work the same kind of deal. Mark Hemingway reported in 2019:

The documents, provided to the FBI in June 2016 as the agency was kicking its Trump-Russia investigation into high gear, allege that Clinton confidant Sidney Blumenthal sent her "a series of detailed memos and reports about Libya," which were intended as a "quid pro quo" which might help a post-Gaddafi Libya recover as much as $66 billion in offshore funds hidden by the slain strongman.

According to the private investigators funded by Judicial Watch: "Our evidence shows that Mr. Blumenthal was involved with a group of intelligence professionals seeking to repatriate asset[s] which were plundered and then exfiltrated by the [Gaddafi] family and hidden in various offshore localities."

If successful, Blumenthal and associates "stood to gain a brokers' cut of perhaps hundreds of millions of dollars."

The private Libya inquiry leaves important issues unsettled. The documents do not include emails or other original source material to support the allegations within. While claiming to possess evidence that Blumenthal and his associates had contracts and offshore accounts to repatriate the money, the documents say "no concrete evidence" was found suggesting Clinton acted to support the effort.

Yet if verified, the files might shed light on why Clinton kept her emails, tens of thousands of which have gone missing, out of normal government communication channels.

From Business Insider (archive.is link), Hunter Biden was enlisted to provide the same corrupt service.

Two previously unpublished emails sent by business contacts of Hunter Biden indicate that the president's son requested an annual retainer of $2 million to help recover billions in Libyan assets frozen by the Obama administration.

Let me note right away that $2 million was only a retainer -- the deal also included "+++ success fees."

That's a lot of plusses before success fees.

In other words: a large percentage of the booty.

These emails aren't part of the laptop trove, either. They come from another source.

The emails, obtained by Insider during reporting on an unrelated matter, are not connected to the controversial emails from Hunter Biden's laptop, which his supporters have claimed were distributed as part of a disinformation campaign. And while it appears from the new emails that the Libya deal was never consummated, the documents offer a window into the mechanics of Beltway influence peddling, and the stock that was put in Biden's political connections -- particularly his relationship with his father, who was vice president at the time.

The first email, dated January 28, 2015, was sent from Sam Jauhari, a Democratic donor with businesses in the Persian Gulf, who was helping spearhead the Libya project. It was addressed to Sheikh Mohammed al-Rahbani, another Obama campaign donor involved in the proposal. In the email, Jauhari is frank about what Biden would bring to the table, and what he says Biden wanted in return:

Per phone conversation I met with #2 son. He wants $2 per year retainer +++ success fees. He wants to hire his own people - it can be close circle of people for confidentiality. His dad is deciding to run or not.

His positives are he is Chairman of UN World Food Program, son of #2 who has Libya file, access to State, Treasury, business partner SofS [Secretary of State] J. [John] Forbes K [Kerry] son and since he travels with dad he is connected everywhere in Europe and Asia where M. Q. [Muammar Qaddafi] and LIA [Libya Investment Authority] had money frozen. He said he has access to highest level in PRC [China], he can help there.

His negatives are that he is alcoholic, drug addict - kicked [out] of U.S. Army for cocaine, chasing low class hookers, constantly needs money-liquidity problems and many more headaches.

We should meet in Gstraad or London to decide next steps.

At least one aspect of Jauhari's assessment of Biden is erroneous: Biden was discharged from the Navy Reserve, not the Army, and it was never confirmed that Biden's positive test for cocaine was the reason. But the tally of his "positives" reflects a keen sense of what he could offer the project. Biden's position at the United Nations meant he enjoyed face-to-face access to heads of state.

...

Biden's apparent offer to provide "access to the highest level" in the Chinese government is also telling. China, which was attempting to strengthen its position in Africa, had been a particular source of frustration for Libya's new government, which was struggling to free up $15 billion in foreign assets that had been frozen by Obama during the Qaddafi regime. In 2013, according to The New Yorker, Hunter Biden had traveled with his father on an official visit to Beijing, where he had arranged for the vice president to briefly meet one of his business partners in the lobby of the American delegation's hotel.

Such access may, in fact, have been worth the price that Biden was cited as quoting. Two people close to the negotiations told Insider that the "$2 per year retainer" mentioned in the email meant $2 million. "My recollection was that anything that had to do with Hunter started at $2 million," said one. Jauhari and his partners, according to other documents obtained by Insider, expected to pocket as much as 5% of whatever sanctioned money they could free up for Libya. That meant a possible payday in the hundreds of millions. It's unclear whether any "success fees" for Biden would have been pegged in some way to those proceeds.

A second email emphasized that this must be a small, tightly-knit conspiracy of people who knew each other, due to the "sensitivities" of corruption and favor-trading on such a scale:

I spoke with HB's team yesterday. They are interested in the project, but emphasized that for them to get involved, the team (lobbyists, lawyers and PR) would need to be a small group of folks they have a tight relationship with. They do not want a large group involved and they only want people with whom they have a close relationship with due to the sensitivities surrounding their involvement.

In related news, the New York Post offers a sarcastic "thank you" to Politico to "confirming" the authenticity of the Hunter laptop emails, even though that authenticity had been confirmed early last year.

In his new book, "The Bidens: Inside the First Family's Fifty-Year Rise to Power," Politico reporter Ben Schreckinger says that evidence points to Hunter Biden's laptop being legit.

While we appreciate the support, the truth is The Post's reports always have been true, and it’s only because the media wants to protect Joe Biden that they keep referring to the laptop as "unsubstantiated."

Schreckinger notes that "A person who had independent access to Hunter Biden's emails" confirms two of the emails The Post published, including one about a potential deal with China with the line "10 held by H for the big guy?" -- that is, Joe Biden.

But Hunter Biden's former business partner Tony Bobulinski already said those emails were authentic -- the media just ignored him.

This was the entire point.

The government WANTED you to know that they could remove an enormously popular president who was almost single-handedly bringing jobs back, helping people earn more money, strengthening America, re-invigorating the nation, and making peace deals around the world and place an elderly dementia patient who covered up for his felon son and who pinches the private parts of little girls during public televised events, and that they could put an unintelligent harpy of a woman who managed to come in 4th place in her own state as VP.

They WANT you to know they can do this. It's part of the kink. They probably couldn't be more happy with these numbers, frankly.

He asked what the expected take-home was if he met his sales targets. He then laughed and said, "No way, dude. I don't get out of bed for less than $175k."

My thought at the time was, "man, what a prick. There'll be a time when that won't be true." It struck me as inconceivable that someone could view such a sum as a floor. This right here is the entire problem. Not pointing a finger directly at CN. It is really all of us. It is easy to notice and complain. It is hard to effect change. Until it starts to hurt us individually and becomes intolerable, nobody will do anything but report and complain. And read the pet thread or book thread.
Even the Australians aren't suffering enough to actually effect change, but they may be getting there. I'd be curious to know what South Africa looks like now. They seemed to be hurting enough to step up at one point.
We all know what needs to happen to make this end, but it takes a lot of personal involvement. I'm not suffering enough to go there. I am willing to bet a lot of money that nobody reading this is either.

107 In history, for large scale change in society and a political regime to occur, it usually requires that all of the ruling class be discredited. That does not say that the change is better or worse.

History usually indicates that a despot will take charge with the job of scourging the existing corrupt elites (see Venezuela for a recent example) but sometimes societies get a break either with a benevolent despot or something like what happened in Eastern Europe after the Soviet system imploded. For the second situation to occur, it helps if society has prior notions of a rule of law, human rights, and an imposed elite.

155 105 Do we know Beau died of natural causes? Suppose he found out some inconvenient details about the family business......
_______________

Beau was in on the grift.

There was an article last year, quoting some guy (the article named him, but I've forgotten his name. It wasn't Bobulinski) who'd done business with the Bidens. He recounted a meeting he'd taken with Frank Biden and a couple of others, at which Beau Biden was present. They discussed the crooked deal, and then Beau Biden cautioned everyone present that they were not ever to discuss the deal with anyone outside of that room, because the Bidens couldn't afford for this to get out and possibly harm Joe Biden's chances of becoming president (where the real money would be made).

Beau was just as sleazy and corrupt as the rest of them. How else do you think he ended up married to that skanky whore Hallie, who was banging Hunter before Beau's body was even cold?

They're the ones that say, "I could see myself voting for a Republican if they ran someone reasonable, like Kasich."

And so they are forced once again to vote for the Democrat. And the GOPe post-mortem in January will, once again, insist we must do more to appeal to those voters.

The problem is that in a fascist socialist country like this one so many aspects of society have been coopted by the fascist regime it requires an overthrow of the evil majority by the good minority. That can never happen so in those circumstances people escape to a free country. But there's nowhere left to escape to. Our oligarch masters and their puppets in governments across the globe have taken care of that. Whatever is capable of stopping this global oppression will be different than anything that has ever happened in the past. Right now with every step, the left is getting everything they want. They have zero opposition. There's no feedback sent to the left that something they are doing is painful or detrimental.

I would like it to be M. Malice's prediction that people will abandon authority in mass. I doubt that happens in my lifetime. Short term we are screwed.

Menjtioned it to a liberal friend of mine. He didn't believe me, so I looked up the video. He got pissed that I was trying to make him see something he'd rather not. Pissed. Only thing he didn't do was close his eyes and put his fingers in his ears and scream like a little bitch.

No reaching some people.

Similar thing happened to me when I was driving one time in 2016. I suddenly had no feeling in my right foot, my right hand and shoulder when numb. I felt light-headed too. I was a block from my destination and made it there and had them call an ambulance

My bp was 200/110 when the ambulance got there and they held their fingers up and asked me to count and did similar tests. Once strapped in to the stretcher I began to feel normal and my bp dropped to 160/90 and then 140/80
At the hospital I got the EKG, blood tests, a CT scan, and an MRI.
Everything was normal.
They never told me what happened. One doctor said she thought I was having a stroke, "but my body fought it off." ??

I spent the night there, went to my regular doctor and he put me on amlopodine and had me stay home from work for two weeks--and then see him again for the all clear.
I've been on amlopodine since then--I usually test around 130/80

227 Actually, come to think of it, a proper mask mandate - a full-seal respirator with interchangeable filters - would likely be no better than the mask theater, but if it came with mandatory fitment guidelines, it would result in a huge blowup that would end the mandate.

To make that work, you can't have facial hair. Beards break the seal. If the government told all the hipsters they'd have to shave because COVID, then the wailing and blowback would be huge.

On a similar note, Biden (or whoever) sent out one of his standard boilerplate tweets yesterday. Tax the rich. He's out of patience. Time they pay their fair share.

It's astounding how many people (well, actually not) are cheering on and sticking up for this demented potato, saying he's not part of the uber rich. Ok, not a multi-billionaire, not for lack of trying. Or selling out the country to the red Chinese. About 1 out of 10 will say things like he's had half a century to do something, anything. Besides send out the same tweet every 2-3 months. And they get ratio'd for their obvious observations.

Yep. I think the family's plan was to groom Beau as Biden's successor in the senate. They figured they could keep the family grift going on indefinitely, so long as they had somebody in office. Joe was aging (and badly) so they knew they were going to need some new blood. Hunter and Ashley were screwed-up drug addicts, so Beau was it. The way John Campbell, and later Asimov, set it up was that you can order a robot to destroy itself (as foolish as that would be), but you can't order it to commit murder or to allow a murder to be committed in its presence.

One of the best stories in I, Robot was "Little Lost Robot," in which a group of robots has been constructed with a modified First Law: They *can* allow a human to put himself in danger without rushing forward to stop him. This leads to one robot hiding itself among a group of non-modified robots (they all look exactly alike). Susan Calvin the robot expert has to detect which one before its mental pathways become so corrupted that it begins to ignore the first part of the Law and considers it okay to harm a human. An excellent detective story!

The problem with corrupt elites is that they are not willing to die for their dreams--in essence, they are cowards. In the earlier feudalism that they are trying to emulate, the aristocrats had to justify their positions with personal violence if need be as someone who would not get their hands dirty was not respected as a war leaders. Edward II comes to mind for example.

Does anyone really respect people like Bill Gates anymore? Hillary or Bill Clinton? Schumer? McConnell? Would anyone be bothered if a new ruler simply proscribed them out of existence? Would any of them actually stay and fight?

That is what led to the Soviet Union disintegrating--no one was willing to fight and die to cover for those rulers anymore.

There's one factor arguing for a break to happen sooner rather than later - and that is the fact that the left's plans are insane and incredibly self destructive. They are working hard to fracture every level of society, and yet they have no clue what winds will blow when that happens. Now I'm not saying this is a good thing, because the most likely outcome is pure chaos on every level and the general breakdown of society. But what they are trying to do will not last for long, because it can't.

290 I'm still waiting for info on how to request a religious exemption at work. The clock is ticking on the deadline to get things sorted out.

Side note, the office handling these requests has, like, 8 people in it, for hundreds if not thousands of employees (I'm not sure of our total count). Wonder how many exemptions they'll have to process and if they'll be able to get them all through in a reasonable amount of time given the deadline.

My 2 cents: copy one of the Gab letters (whichever best applies to you), revise it to fit your circumstances, date it and submit it. (maybe even get it certified just so it looks extra official) Keep a copy. If they come up with a form or need something more, they can let you know. But at least you won't miss any deadlines.

Aetius, I have been around the block a time or two in politics and have no illusions about most politicians who by and large want money, power, and sex, with the order of those priorities set by the individual politician. The issue is when someone comes out with some rhetoric such as Vote Harder--it literally has no content to it nor any coherent plan. A dialectic response would be not voting would show that the regime and its leaders lack popular support. I can see that response as genuine as it has a thesis and a prediction of what the consequences are. I don't agree with it but would respect it. And so on for other meaningful statements. YD makes cogent arguments as do you but they are actually arguments not rhetorical statements.

The advantage the left has is if this had been "our" laptop, it would have magically leaked to the NYT or CNN, they'd put out what would pass as legal with judicious pixelization, say "ZOMG you wouldn't believe how bad this is!" and everybody would believe it.

We live in a world where if a journalist or publication is anything right of middle left, they're derided as propaganda and fake MAGA news. Just like it doesn't matter if O'Keefe had video of Hunter raping and killing a 3 year old along with testimony from the person who procured the kids for him - it'd always fall back to "O'Keefe got sued once!" or "deceptively edited video!" and that's the end of the argument.

It would take the actual outlets that are protecting these shits to bring it out, and only then would it attract any attention.

Dude, I've been trying to avoid that whole thing (even though I agree with you, and sometimes can't stay my tongue).

There are people who have dedicated their extra cash and shitloads of effort to "saving the country" by voting (R), supporting (R) candidates, and maybe even running (R) themselves. It's an act of faith for them. You'll never talk anyone down from that position. They're also almost always real old. Not saying that to insult anyone. Just a fact. They're set in those ways.

When you tell them it's pointless it serves no purpose but to enrage them. We've got one who will say you're mentally ill if you won't participate for Team Red. Just the way it is, brotha. Ain't no changing it.

446 Want a third party to actually have influence? Then promote a system like NY has. The third party can either endorse a major party candidate in a race or run its own candidate. The 5-10 percent endorsement boost from a third party can nudge the mainstream party to adopt a favorable candidate in that position rather than risk running with a third party candidate in them. That is how James Buckley ended up a Senator in NY for a term.

The problem has been that most third parties organizations accept large donations from either big republican or democrat party donors in order to hobble the other side's R or D officeholder by taking up votes. Dems finance Libertarians for that reason and Republican donors have been known to finance Greens or other lefty parties.

Most third parties are either ineffectual due to rigid adherence to dogma and personalities or the organization relies on one or the other major party to pay its bills by taking up protest votes that might otherwise go to the major parties.

You can't, so it doesn't matter. Per-pupil spending has spent forty solid years increasing while achievement and outcomes have collapsed. Whatever they call out as a cause that requires more money is at best wrong and more likely a lie. There is no evidence whatsoever that increased spending improves outcomes. 514 The main issue on voting or not is ultimately your life will be affected by politicians and the bureaucrats funded by them whether or not you voted. Local and state bond issues will affect you even if you do not own property and these are often up for vote, so are local ordinances, constitutional amendments, judicial and DA offices, sheriffs, etc. School boards will determine what is taught and a bulk of your property taxes will go to fund them and so on.

Many local races such as mayor, city council, school board, and bond issues will have less than 10 percent voting yet the effects will happen over all within that jurisdiction including renters (the landlords will make you pay their increased taxes via rent btw.) The zoning decisions will affect your quality of life regarding crime, congestion, the types of businesses located around you, environmental degradation, possible tax hikes due to new sewage and water hookups, etc. It is clear that some states and localities are better than others in which to live which in part is reflected by the voters that vote in those states and localities. Vote or do not vote as it fits with your perceptions but all or nothing is a trap.

I'd say the left is the same, but far more fervent and covers ALL demographics. Almost all of them believe the white hats vs black hats kayfabe. That's why they constantly tie us to McConnell and Miss Lindsey. Why they throw W in our faces when they're doing their whataboutisms. When we say we hate their guts and all of the GOPe, it just doesn't register. Their brains literally shut it off. It's really only those on our side who saw the masks drop and realize it's uniparty. I've been 29 twice and am on my third go now and get it. When my mother still had a mind in her 80's, I tried to get her to realize that nice man on Fox talking about eating babies in the Astrodome was really a cross-dressing POS. And that too, didn't register.

I was surprised to learn recently when looking up the lyrics to "Never Been to Spain" that it AND 'Joy to the World" were written by and initially performed Hoyt Axton. You can find his versions on YouTube.

Also the lyric "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" was just a temporary filler/placeholder until he came up with something better ... which he obviously never did.
