Australian Protesters Smash Through Police Picket Line in "Unauthorized" Covid Protests

Australia's police arrested 235 people in Melbourne and 32 in Sydney on Saturday at unsanctioned anti-lockdown rallies and several police officers were injured in clashes with protesters.
Victoria police said six officers required hospitalisation. Several officers were knocked to the ground and trampled, the police said and television footage showed.

Most of the restrictions in Victoria, New South Wales and Canberra are to remain until at least 70% of those 16 and older are fully vaccinated, which based on the current pace of inoculations could be in late October or early November.

It's a weird situation. I do sometimes wonder if the powers that be are A/B testing different levels and types of COVID response across the Anglosphere, but honestly, I'm not convinced there's a deliberate disparity at play. More likely assume it's just a difference in culture, government, industry, tradition, etc.

Local cops, and especially sheriffs, need to be wrecked and hollowed out so everything can be federalized, leaving Washington with an actual internal police force directly controlled by them. If the Summer of Love rioters last year had gone after FBI field offices and federal buildings, it would have been a different story.

I suspect that local cops know the score to a large degree. If the riots are approved of, they'd just better stay out of the way and let it happen. If they try to stop it, they'll be prosecuted or, at best, the guy they caught will be allowed to walk away. When the riot isn't approved of, any means and any response will be fully acceptable.

Twitter plays all kinds of games with my account. You have to click through more comments a couple of times to see my comments to a thread. I used to have ~1800 followers. Now I have 20 something.

I don't get notifications if someone likes my tweets or comments on them unless I open each individual tweet and look at replies. Then I get notification. There are also plenty of times where I open a Tweet, and it says there are replies to it, but then I click on replies and they're gone.

Followers don't get notifications when I tweet.

431 What is the big problem is these MF's are doing this to us. There are hundreds of millions of us and tens of thousands of them and its time we all go out, surround them so they can not continue. Overwhelm them with our massive numbers, and take them out. Australia, get out, surround the cops so there is no way they can get around you, break legs, knees, hands, feet, make it so the govt. thugs question what they are doing to US! RESIST, #RESIST!
