The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

Bowie Bergdahl received a dishonorable discharge for desertion and misbehavior before the enemy.

Typical reasons for dishonorable discharges include murder, rape, treason, etc. These are not trivial crimes, and dishonorable discharges are usually given only after a general court martial. And the consequences don't stop after separation from the military, since it typically prevents the use of any military benefits, and is considered a felony in civilian life...that means no 2nd Amendment rights! Oh...good luck getting a job!

Biden administration 'strongly opposes' honorable discharge for service members who refuse COVID-19 vaccine

The Office of Management and Budget said in a statement Tuesday that the administration "strongly opposes" the amendment, arguing that if it's implemented, it would "detract from readiness and limit a commander's options for enforcing good order and discipline when a Service member fails to obey a lawful order to receive a vaccination."

How very typical of the Biden junta. Strong-arm its opponents, use judicial contortions to punish them for daring to disagree with its edicts, and try to destroy their lives with the power of the federal government.

So servicemen who have done their duty, have served honorably in all other respects, but have a philosophical or religious objection to being forced to accept the CCP flu vaccination will be treated the same way as murderers and rapists and deserters?

Stalin would be proud! It is identical to the legal cudgel that the Soviet Union used against its political opponents. Cancel their permits to live in Moscow, prevent them from earning a living, cast them out of the bureaucratic protections of the typical citizen, and make them pariahs.

Biden and the whores who pull his strings are without honor, have no concept of what honor is, cannot comprehend honorable actions, and simply assume that all Americans who act contrary to the junta's desires are enemies of the state and should be crushed under the weight of its authority.

And while our armed forces do not operate under the same laws as American civilians, there is a powerful concept in American jurisprudence and American culture...proportionality. It is simply stupid and ridiculous that the Biden junta supports the use of the most drastic discharge against honorable men who simply have a disagreement with a military policy and are willing to accept the consequences of their actions by leaving service. Some of these men may have planned on a career, and it is entirely possible that we will lose a large number of fine and capable soldiers and sailors and marines. But that is the price of freedom. It is insanity to create a criminal class of people whose only crime is disagreement with government.

But of course that is the point.

This is all part of the Great Reset plan. The Democrat Party/Left/Deep State hates the military and everything it stands for. They have been destroying it from within for decades with woke bullshit, lowering/changing standards to appease feminism, CRT bullshit and now the "vaccine" mandate bullshit.

This is deliberate. All part of weakening everything about the USA that makes the USA strong.

Mandate vaccination for political reasons!

When that blows up in your face and you risk a material portion of the armed forces leaving, do you go back on your mandate?

Of course not. You try to coerce them to stay by threatening to ruin their lives.

I'm sure that the consequences of this new policy will have no negative unintended consequences whatsoever.

34 I see a lot of "concern," particularly from people like Tim Pool, that as the good military and law enforcement people give up and leave, the remaining are the bad actors and they'll act to oppress.

While that may be possible, there are two flaws in that thinking:

1. Not all of the honorable people are avoiding the vax. They may be drumming them out in other ways, but it's not an all-or-nothing situation.

2. Those people, even after leaving the service or law enforcement, still exist, they're still trained, and they're still (presumably) principled against the tyranny.

I don't care if the military that defends the Constitution is active duty, just as long as one does.

This drives a stake through the heart of the military. Recruiting is already difficult. This will make it impossible to attract sufficient mumbers to fill out the services. Further, once those on active duty are seperated fromtheir respective Services, the affect will ripple through each Branch. Aircraft will be grounded, shps remain dockside, and much of the intensely complex equipment of the Army and Marines will go unserviced. We will not win our next fight.

That was me and and you are correct, you have to Court Martial someone to give them a BCD or a dishonorable discharge. There is no way that will ever happen. You would have to do literally thousands and thousands of Court Martial's, there is not enough Military Judges and JAG Officers to do them all.

The only way to give them anything other than an honorable is an admin board, they can give a General discharge or an OTH, both of which are non punitive discharges. But again you would be tying up the resources of every JAG Officer for years at the expected numbers who are going to refuse the jab.

187 During the Vietnam era there was what is known a SPN codes. Called "spin" codes, where the military assigns a number/letter code to label the released service men for all kinds of things.
SPN-1A was a Honorable discharge, anything else could be medical discharges, bad conduct, homosexual etc.
It was a way a commander could strike out at problem men or men he didn't like personally.
We had a Captain whose nick name was "Spin code" because unless you were the brown nose in his command group you got spin coded.
It kept people from VA benefits, jobs and other things long after they got out and even with an Honorable discharge it made that Discharge worthless.
Now it seems the Military is just going straight to dishonorable.

Free Press, a well-funded liberal group that aims to "reshape media" in the United States, sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission that included the question: "Are we going to have to shoot Republican to reclaim our democracy?"

Because dad's the VP?

In the real world, the military pleads down a lot of felony offenses (drugs, mostly). Getting a DD doesn't remove the fact that you committed a felony.

In the civilian world, if you are convicted of a felony, no guns, no voting. Why should the military be excluded from that?

371 They are not talking dishonorable discharge or the lesser bad conduct discharge. They probably intent an administrative discharge under honorable conditions. That is possibly appropriate for someone who will not complete an initial tour. But for someone that has reupped honorable should be given no question. Which applies not one bit to the military. I often wonder - what military did those here that talk about how it works serve under ? Because the military I was in from '90 to '96 was a vast bureaucracy that tilted back and forth with no real direction - and did a ton of stupid shit along the way.

The military that I was in was obsessed - completely obsessed - with bouncing checks and DUIs. That military wasn't a reflection of American culture - it was a reflection of typical American Management and how that would be unsuccessfully applied to a typical cross section of American 18-22 year old kids.

That's the irony. We have a big, powerful government. It's not interested in "protecting and serving" anymore. Turns out - all those college educated Ivy League graduates with guns don't give two shits about the Constitution. Neither do those high school grads in so many places with a blue uniform and a badge. The final "oh shit" reveal will be when the military ranks don't either.

Was just reading that DM article about how all the Haitians in Del Rio have actually come here from Chile and Brazil, where they'd been living (as refugees) and working and leading comfortable lives for years.

They heard that Biden had issued an open invitation to everybody to come to the U.S., so they hurried on over here to get in while the getting was good.
Not because they were "fleeing violent gangs" or "desperate poverty in Haiti," but because they wanted to "upgrade their lifestyle" as the article put it.

The 2 million+ Haitians already living in the U.S. had told them about all the "free" shit they could get here, so they ran to get it.

On the way in, they dumped their ID cards from Chile and Brazil, so they could pretend they were coming from Haiti.

It's all a big con, and U.S. taxpayers are the marks.

441 In 1974 the National Security Council (NSC) gave further impetus to these fears, circulating a secret report which declared population growth to be a grave threat to U.S. national security.3 If the peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America were allowed to multiply, the NSC claimed, their quest for social justice would inevitably lead them to communism. This would limit the U. S. access to strategic minerals and other raw materials, both directly through the action of hostile regimes and indirectly because of greatly expanded local consumption.

Thus was population control declared to be a weapon in the cold war. The immediate result was a huge jump in spending on birth control programs by the U.S. and its allies. Dozens of countries around the world were targeted, especially those which were considered to be vulnerable to communist insurrection (such as Thailand), and those sitting on top of valuable metals (such as the southern tier of Africa).

442 Today the Cold War is over and the population bomb has proven to be a dud. The specter of famine was never more than that a ghostly phantom receding on the horizon. The number of people in the world currently stands at 5.9 billion, far below the 8 to 12 billion that Stein Bie, head researcher for the Food and Agriculture Organization, recently estimated the earth can easily support using existing agricultural technology.4 Food shortages occur in war zones as in the Sudan or in socialist economies as in North Korea but massive famines resulting from crop failure are a thing of the past.

Moreover, as noted above, world population growth is slowing dramatically. Demographers are now agreed that the population of the world will never double again.5 Based on our review of U.N. Population Division figures, we at the Population Research Institute expect that global population will peak at seven billion or so in 2030, then begin a long decline.6

443 The reason for the coming depopulation is shrinking family size. The Census Bureau reports that the world's totally fertility rate (TFR)the number of children born per woman during her reproductive lifetime has declined to 2.9, its lowest level ever. As recently as 1985 the worldwide TFR was 4.2. In many countries, couples commonly stop at one or two children. There are now 79 countries representing 40% of the world's population with fertility rates below the 2.2 needed to sustain their present numbers. The developed nations have been hit the hardest. Fifteen of them, including Russia, Germany and Italy, already fill more coffins than cradles each year. But this birth dearth, as Ben Wattenberg has called it, has now spread well beyond the developed world. There are now 27 developing countries where women are averaging fewer than 2.2. children, including such unlikely nations as Sri Lanka and Thailand. While the population of portions of Africa, Asia and Latin America will continue to grow for several more decades, the rest of the world will soon be in a demographic free fall.

444 If the human face of this population implosion is melancholy villages bereft of children, schools closed for lack of students the economic consequences are nothing short of grim: Labor shortages cramp production, the housing market grows moribund, and this in turn creates a drag on real estate and other sectors of the economy.

And now you see the reason for globalization, open borders. Tinkering with birth rates dropped it mostly in the developed countries. Oops. Oopsie. And now they have to "correct" those mistakes.

445 215 Am I correct in my assumption that a non-honorable, non-medical discharge is really bad for future employment prospects and so this is a way to hold soldiers hostage? They either have to have a resume gap where they don't discuss their military service, or be subject to gatekeeping based on discharge reason?

I dunno. I know some employment applications ask about military service, but I don't recall ever actually being asked for documentation, so someone with a DD/BCD/OTH could presumably just lie on the application. I guess it depends on whether the prospective employer did a background check.

446 Precedent was set in the 90s with the anthrax vaccinations which were required by the military in connection with Desert Shield/Storm. Some refused largely because of the hasty way the vaccinations were rolled out. (And not as likely to be refusal on religious grounds since the military generally doesn't recruit folks who won't take vaccinations at all, so they were weeded out early in the recruiting process.) Those refusals were treated as violations of lawful orders, for which the processing could entail administrative discharge proceedings or court-martial. Some initial convictions were appealed, and then lost, at higher courts who cited the readiness rationale, after which the choices were a little more stark for those refusing.

Administrative discharges can involve characterization of service as "honorable", "general" or "less than honorable". "Bad conduct" discharges and "dishonorable" discharges, in contrast, can only be as a result of a court-martial conviction.

447 If Xiden relents on the DD and says it will be a general discharge under less than honorable conditions, wouldn't that status require legal representation to those threatened with involuntary separation? If that's the case, does the military have enough lawyers?

448 What can one expect of the Biden family and those who support it? Every people get the government they deserve.
