Norm's Restoration Cafe: Kenny Rogers Songs Edition

Duck seems to be following a woman just because her shoes are the same color as its feet.

Dog is amazing at volleyball.

Lamb wants more pets.

Enormous Tibetan mastiff. Maybe where the mythological fu dogs were derived from?

Seagull hitches a ride on another bird.

Toad hitches a ride on a snake.

One of these things is not like the others.

Inman: Taking care of the first-date jitters with a bang.

Bouncer takes out not one but two spitting, sucker-punching soibois. Note that these soibois may not look soi, but their DNA is pure tofu.

Well-brought-up young lady starts a brawl at a chicken joint.

Two jay-offs have a dispute in stopped traffic. The guy with the SUV attempts to bash the Mercedes (?) convertible, but it doesn't work out the way he expected.

Fugitives ride the lightning. At least they weren't whipped.

Watch all the way through. It's worth it.

I think this is an ibix, by the way. Hope that doesn't spoil the ending.

Outstanding prank on a dog.

It's about time I included a Norm clip in the Norm's Restoration Cafe.

Below, the hysterical Adam Carolla/Norm Macdonald breakdown of Kenny Rogers' most horrifying songs. Content warning for war injuries, paralysis, and Biden-like behavior by the Gatlin Boys.

If you want to do a group listen, maybe wait until 8:25 to start the clip, so people are in the thread and done with the other stuff.

Before listening to that, you might want to listen to this X-rated story from Norm. Adam Carolla keeps referencing it during the Kenny Rogers bit.

Someone made a 1970's British Public Health short film for coronavirus.

"You must always stay alert. If you sense coronavirus, get indoors fast. If you're away from home, drop face first to the ground. In this position, the only cavity exposed is the anal duct, and that should not pose a problem so long as you're wearing trousers.

Coronavirus: the QR code of Emmanuel Macron's health pass leaked on social networks
By Provence

A QR code of a certain Emmanuel Macron was broadcast on social networks, including Snapchat and Twitter, on Tuesday. This corresponds well to the personal data of the President of the Republic - born on December 21, 1977 and vaccinated with a dose of Pfizer last July - the Elysee has confirmed the authenticity of the document with Europe1 . Confirming the information to France Info , the entourage of the President of the Republic also specified that " arrangements had been made ".

As a reminder, Emmanuel Macron was vaccinated on May 31, but his vaccination was only recorded in July after an " error " in data transmission, the Elysee told Media

oh big time, they love it over there. I think it was KFC when the first had drive thrus in CHina they had an issue. The people would order from the drive thru, then park and go into the restaurant to eat. The employees had to teach them that they were suppose to drive away at that point.

77 I must have seen one of the first KFC's in the PRC. This was long ago - well before the economic transformation there. Well, right at the starting gun, actually. The KFC really stood out, only outside/western thing I recall seeing the entire time there.

I still remember how shocked I was on Y2K, New Year's Eve, with the live TV shots from around the world, and the view across the river from The Bund in Shanghai showed a glimmering district of skyscrapers (forget the name of this area). When I was there, it was as it had been since the furriners carved up China - just rows of warehouses.

I listened to a few minutes of it but will get back to it. The Coward of the County Song leaves a lot to interpretation. They made a movie out of it and there was no rape involved. People will read into the lyrics what they want to. No doubt it is suggestive. My honest view is that was not what was meant. Crap, the song was about the guy,not the girl. they are going to casually have a gang rape in a song about standing up for yourself?

I agree that the song does leave it to interpretation.

This is another good illustration of how our civilization is ending quickly. Just 50 years ago, they were teaching children to cross the street only when no traffic.

Today, kids are taught to just step right in the Crosswalk and begin marching -- don't look for, wait for, or worry about any cars coming because It's A Law that cars must stop for pedestrians in Crosswalks.

184 People will read into the lyrics what they want to. No doubt it is suggestive. My honest view is that was not what was meant. Crap, the song was about the guy, not the girl. they are going to casually have a gang rape in a song about standing up for yourself?

I agree that the song does leave it to interpretation.

One day while he was working / The Gatlin boys came calling. / They took turns at Becky. /There was three of them.
Tommy opened up the door / And saw his Becky crying. / The torn dress, the shattered look /Was more than he could stand

Try as I might, I honestly cannot come up with a non-sexual assault interpretation to these lyrics.

When the RCA cam/bell went in 3 years ago, I also had a trusted Network/PC guru come in and manually close off every unauthorized port address and possible node-surfing exposure 'tween doorbell and router. Plus, killed off the router's own open ports, which is said to be standard unless PURPOSELY killed off by knowledgeable owners. If anybody is interested in closing off ports and testing for stealth mode - this site is world renown and a super easy way to do it with just a few minutes of work. GRC Shields Up!

https://www.grc.com/shieldsup

It's kind of scary how ports are intentionally left open on devices for reasons. Do this, modify your HOSTS file, get a VPN and you're well covered for most things.

My new Eufy (made by Anker) security camera system just arrived, super excited. No subscription, no amazon, goolag or apple, who own several brands of home spy security. Yes, if you insist on using any of their "services" Eufy will oblige, but that sort of defeats the purpose. I'll definitely check in once it's up and running. The best thing? It's uber cheap and super modular. Backward/forward compatible. Camera can be battery, hard wire or solar. Their own software and local storage (no freaking cloud). Apple/Goolag/Amazon: You're doing it wrong.

247 Anyone know of a market-current Doorbell Cam that ain't askin' to pick-a-da-pocket with a damn monthly fee?
Posted by: Jim

Yeah, so Jim, check on YT for Eufy products. Their website has barely the basics (which is odd). They have a huge range of camera systems. They have 2 doorbell systems. One is the hardwire to your current outlet. It is very basic, and has internal storage. The other one is battery powered, and that is the wifi enabled version that goes to your little hub and runs on the app. You can use the doorbell, and internal or external cameras - of which there's something for everybody. These things have barely been out 2 years, and they've made huge strides and are constantly improving. The biggest downside is that one of the little hub/storage units only handles 4 cameras. But, they're cheap AF. They can either be hooked directly to your router, or they can be wifi to your router. So, you can have a set for your backyard, a set for the front, and a set for inside if you're so inclined. Right now, I think 4 cameras is plenty to handle my needs. Definitely search on YT, there's tons of reviews and comparisons of all their current cameras against Ring, Nest, etc.

250 Oh, one more thing on Eufy. Watch Amazon because they run sales all the time. Either a huge discount on a system, or 30-40% off on one or a given camera. My 2 camera setup was $245, and it's their better camera (has an alarm that goes off if tampered with). They have another neat little camera that has a super bright LED on it that lights up. Oh yeah, of course you set zones and they have facial recognition etc. You can turn off sensitivity for animals or not. Pretty much everything the big boys do, this one does.

I almost went that route until I learned about Eufy. I studied up in 2018, and Eufy didn't exist. So I figured a couple of trail cams would do it. The advantage of the Eufy is you can have the app do anything you want - even notify you. You have 2 way communication through the cameras (their 2nd best is $99), and the app makes it so you've got thumbnails of given events. I like the idea of not having to pull out a card, and the cameras are quite discrete. They also have a motion sensor flood light version if you want to scare people off. Pretty much anything you can imagine - it's a very well flushed out range, and competes with Nest, Ring, Arlo, Wyze, etc. Mostly raves on YT and dozens of reviews.

that is fair. Sure it was assault of some type. It is a weird song I think that wanted to raise the stakes. My guess is they didn't mean rape but who the hell knows, it is a freaking song. again, they did make a movie out of it as I recall.

281 Earlier today I saw a headline about women's "Reproductive Rights." It got me to thinking. It seems this euphemism for killing human fetuses has replaced "Right to Choose." I do not consider the new term an improvement of the Illogic for Dummies. How is killing a reproductive right, or any other right? Madness. Sheer madness, in the name of what, exactly?

Right now, out front, there's two doorbell wires sticking out of the exterior wall. I did propose a sign saying: "If You're Too Stupid To Touch Two Wires Together, Then You're Too Dumb To Live" as a placard under the wires.

I was overruled.

That's cool, definitely a consideration for a lot of folks. Do they do video, or just stills? Like I said, I was last studying in 2018, and things have improved seriously since then (I shouldn't be surprised). What I didn't like is goolag and amazon buying up the competition when it comes to the regular home systems. And EVERYTHING is taking money. Either crippling the app, cloud storage (you have no choice) etc. That's why I was leaning towards the trail cam. Fuck that noise! Anyway, we'll see if it was worth it. It's a bit pricier than the trail cams, but value added for selling the house! I'd assume the trail cams can't be hardwired, but certainly use solar which is what I'd probably do. Stay off the ladder as much as possible.
