Adam Schiff Demands Tech Monopolies Impose Further Censorship On the Dissenters and the Democrat Party's Enemies

Adam Schiff demands Amazon and FaceBook censor even more dissent. This is the government demanding that monopolist corporations impose censorship that the government is -- or was, at least -- forbidden to impose itself.

And the NeverTrump corporate shills will continue existing Muh Corporations Can Do Whatever They Want.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is pressing Amazon and Facebook to address the spread of COVID-19 misinformation, accusing the tech giants of "directly profiting from the sensationalism of antivaccine misinformation."

"We cannot allow the rapid and dangerous spread of anti-vaccine marketing and misinformation to keep Americans from the valid, factual information they need to protect themselves from this virus," Schiff wrote to the companies in letters shared by his office Thursday.

Schiff's letter is part of an ongoing push from congressional Democrats and the Biden administration for tech giants to accelerate efforts to remove misinformation about vaccines and the coronavirus.

I'd like to point something important out:

A monopoly corporation is the Democrat Party's best friend.

Why? Because the monopoly can and should be broken up or limited by the government. And they know that.

The monopoly, therefore, is always in the situation of having to execute the orders of its Democrat masters, otherwise they will take the leash off the DOJ and impose restrictions on the monopoly.

They have nothing to fear from Republicans -- who are easily bought off with chump-change campaign contributions.

They know that Democrats do not come so cheaply. Especially because Democrats are getting paid off by monied interests through many streams of income.

The Democrats must be paid off with action. Political action.

Censorship and protection for the Democrat Party.

Tolerated monopolies, therefore, are a clear and present danger to liberty-loving conservatives and to the Republic itself. They are tolerated by the Democrat Ruling Class only so long as they serve the Democrat Ruling Class.

They are precariously positioned and they know it. Democrats frequently remind them of how precarious their positions are by occasionally suggesting they might break them up.

Therefore, they do whatever is necessary to keep the Democrat Party appeased.

These illegal monopolies, temporarily and contingently tolerated by the left, are rich and powerful -- and compromised due to their status as barely-tolerated monopolies, and easily commanded by the political left to do the political left's bidding.

As long as these illegal behemoths exist, they will be used by the Ruling Class as a weapon against the people. There is no actual free republic so long as the politically left effectively controls what we can say and hear by controlling these compromised leviathans.

We must act against them. Only when they are brought into proper legal status -- their monopoly status publicly acknowledged and their power and reach suitably limited -- will they no longer be pawns of the left to use against us.

But hey, the GOP and Conservative, Inc. like getting money from them (and Conservative, Inc. really likes lying to readers about taking money from them) so ignore everything in this post. The regime of tolerated and compromised monopolies restricting freedoms of the right by the left will continue indefinitely because Conservative, Inc. bought houses they can't afford without the monthly stipend from Google.

Update: Fascist corporatism is here.

83 Ugh. More economic ignorance compounded by cultural brain washing. I like Ace, but this stuff is hard to take.

A lot of people assume "monopolies = bad", because they were taught that from birth. And monopolies must = bad, right? Because we have laws against them.

Well, we had a constitutional amendment against alcohol consumption, too.
Therefore alcohol consumption must = bad, right? The government said so, therefore it must be so.

The monopolies most people complain about are government-supported monopolies. That is, Congress often crafts legislation "setting regulations on the monopoly", but those regulations also apply to any company seeking to compete against the monopoly. Since Congress only crafts the legislation after the monopoly is large and powerful, the monopoly is eager for those regulations to be passed, because the monopoly can easily afford to comply. Yet, upstart competitors now find that in addition to all the other factors working against a new entrant to the market, they have additional barriers artificially setup by government. Thus, government regulation of monopolies often strangles competition before it can even begin.

86 Most people fail to recognize the fact that there are thousands of natural monopolies operating right now, because they're small and niche. I worked for a company for 15 years that was a monopoly. They were the only company in the world building and selling control systems for a specific type of manufacturing process. Even when they got a competitor, it was a guy who quit the company to start his own and copy their product.

That monopoly never employed more than 52 people and it's biggest grossing year was $8M in sales. And their profit margin was pretty small, let me tell you. But there was no need to "break them up", because they weren't doing anything to stop someone from trying to compete. They weren't in bed with government.

Government cronyism is the problem, not "monopolies". And those on the American political Right would do well to educate themselves on basic economics, because insisting on breaking up natural monopolies is the same thing as demanding feudalism. It's anti-American.

94 Well if the GOP had a single member worth anything, they'd be relentlessly and vituperatively attacking Schiff personally for his idiotic, outrageous lies about "RUSSIA!", noting that he has no understanding of the virus or vaccination, and denouncing - and providing details - of the misinformation pushed by the CDC - on masks, on the vaccine that's actually a therapeutic prophylactic, on the damage and utter worthlessness of all the interventions that have been imposed.

But on the national level, bupkis. Rand Paul occasionally takes a swipe at the preposterous, vile figure of Fauci, usually on the secondary issue of origins and Chy-nah. Scattered congressmen react to isolated aspects of things. DeSantis actually occasionally touches on the science, and how it does not support anything the feds and other states are doing.

The firewall of cartoonish propaganda that has replaced a press needs to be broken. The farcical CDC - and now FDA - need to be trashed and confronted constantly, openly, challenged to defend their ridiculous guidance.

126 Anti-competitive behavior leading to consumer harm was the original, and sound, basis for anti-monopoly policy and legislation like the Sherman Act (which was one page).

There's nothing "natural" about the info oligopoly we have now. "Technical monopolies" are far fewer in number than was earlier believed, and the "tech" giants have none of those characteristics.

Their anti-competitive behavior is simply that, predatory, and does not yield any consumer benefit, but does produce much consumer harm.

But all of this is besides the point on the info side. Publisher or platform, make your choice. No more special hybrid, chameleon status to avoid accountability.

130 Monopolies are bad when they become abuse and they are almost - but not quite - definitionally abusive because there is no competition to ensure honesty. That is black-and-white, and there are problems with it.

But there should be zero tolerance whatsoever for abusive behavior. And Big Tech is abusive as hell. Where they don't abuse their own monopolies, they collude with each other in restraint of trade through what is a wider cartel. Those are monopolies and they're abusive and they should be broken up and destroyed.

And yes, some of it is natural. Social Media, for example, is a natural monopoly because of network effects. When the next monopoly surfaces and is abusive, break it up and kill it, too.

It's sort of like a hay bailer. You sweep the people up, jab them with a shot (a real instant killer none of this waiting for them to die from side effects), strip their clothes and id, tap into their bank accounts and close everything out then push them to the last unit which digs a hole and buries the remains upright like a tree so it doesn't take much space. Lots of room in the Interstate medians and no one would think twice about what they're doing.

The Clinton admin hated Bill Gates *while* he imposed the "Windows tax" on American manufacturers of PCs. Gates demanded a cut of every PC manufactured *because* your customer may one day put Windows on the computer. Non-compliance meant that you couldn't pre-install Windows on *any* computer to market your computer.

Thus, since companies were already paying for Windows, they mainly sold PCs pre-installed with Windows.

That was bullshit. And that wasn't anything to do with the government. It was the equal private coercion to public coercion. We advocates of markets like the market to work like a market. A monopoly that's not a problem is not a problem. /2

Fauci was asked, given that natural immunity provides more protection from Covid than the shot, why should someone who has had Covid take the vaccine? Fauci replies, "I don't have a firm answer for that."

Has anyone noticed this gabby asshole can't help himself from speculating? During the AIDS period, Fauci speculated that AIDS might be spread by close, non-sexual contact. However, he can always speculate about what would be the best case scenario for his vax. No. Monopolies can become a problem if they have enough market share. If you're a monopoly simply because nobody competes with you, you aren't a problem until you start anti-competitive practices (more than pricing and expertise of course). /1

===========

No. Illegal Monopolies are illegal. The problem is when illegal Monopolies become so powerful whilst our campaign finance laws become so threadbare, that the body in charge of policing illegal monopolies, don't police illegal monopolies. And instead get funded by them. The evils of illegal monopolies are all well known, and the law to fix and prevent those evils is well established and well-known. It's just, our Country is run by the Lois Lerners and Jim Comeys and Susan Rices and Merick Garlands of the world, just over in the Antitrust division of whatever special sub-bureaucracy division within DOJ is supposed to be doing something about it.

The most anti-vaccine Americans -- those who are adamantly refusing the jab because of a misguided belief that it's dangerous -- will probably not change their minds because the government is strong-arming employers. On the contrary, the federal mandate might actually be taken as confirmation that their paranoid suspicions that the vaccines have less to do with their health and more to do with social control.

357 244 Fauci was asked, given that natural immunity provides more protection from Covid than the shot, why should someone who has had Covid take the vaccine? Fauci replies, "I don't have a firm answer for that."

He then ruins that by speculating that the vaccine may have more "durability" than natural infection.
==
That's is whole schtick. He avoids outright denials since he knows that time will uncover the truth, plus there is currently no science to support the durability of the current "vac" the science is to the contrary so he can't support the contention.
___________

There have already been several studies that show that the protection provided by the vaccines falls off pretty rapidly. The Pfizer vaccine was less than 39% effective after just a couple of months. But the protection afforded by one's own immune system (as a result of having battled the virus and recovered) lasts much longer -- more than a year, from the time of recovering from the virus.

358 Unvaccinated individuals who were never infected by Covid would certainly benefit from vaccination.__
(Certainly? What are the long term risks . . . Also,)
Ah, but how is one to know if they had it or not?

The virus is now endemic. Its is everywhere. We know this because - survey's of the blood supply show that 83% of donors, vacc'd and unvacc'd have antibodies. There is also several studies that the wildlife populations have significant percentages with antibodies. So, 1 almost everybody has already had it, and lived, or gotten vacced. Essentially anyone with a public facing job, health care, police/fire, food service/ retail is as good as it gets already. And 2, we don't vaccinate wildlife, so you aren't ever getting rid of it. Ever. Even with a PERFECT vax, we don't have. Its going to continue to mutate in the wildlife and spread back to us on an ongoing basis, probably seasonaly like you know, cold and flu season. Its like a cold that has a .001% chance of killing you. Get. Over. It. (Unless you are 70+).
If this wasn't politically useful, you'd never even have heard about it. Its an op tho. Total.

Exactly right. The vax is specific to one protein - the s spike, which oddly enough is the one protein that mutates the fastest. If you get it naturally, your system catalogues all five proteins. Some of which don't mutate very fast at all. Which is why your natural immunity is to be preferred. Vastly. The only thing the vax has going for it is . . . and endless supply of money diverted into pockets.

You were privileged to live in a sane area. Most of the rest of your countrymen, and others around the world were not so lucky. The churches were closed. And that Church in California was closed, because if it wasn't they wouldn't have won the lawsuit. Most of the church closing were only pseudo voluntary. It was done at the urging of authorities, with the stern warning that the lack of cooperation would result in compulsion.

Cases severe enough to actually require hospitalization, it's easy to tell COVID - the symmetrical pneumonia of a specific type or the O2 saturation, combined with any of the neurological symptoms.

The really stupid thing about testing is that most people *have* had it - but the flu issue with the PCR tests means they're popping a false positive weeks or months later when tested during symptoms for something else, but would then (correctly) show positive if more detailed testing was done.

Don't overlook the CDC's role in keeping a tight rein on testing for the first few months; this not only allowed them to let the spread ramp up to a point they could switch to panic mode, it also greatly muddied the water for testing in this fashion.

This whole mess was a thing inflicted upon us with a certain amount of deliberate action and planning, regardless of whether the initial release was intentional, or accidental, or an accident designed by one party to occur at the hands of another.

370 "Unvaccinated individuals who were never infected by Covid would certainly benefit from vaccination"

Heart attacks in Israel in certain age/sex groups are up over 200% since the vax campaign hit its stride.

All of the good data we have shows it's not even close: for anyone under 50 or so, the shots create a larger number of bad outcomes, and you're rolling the dice again with each follow-up shot or booster.

There are also some good early indications that for several weeks after the shot cycle starts, mortality from catching COVID is substantially increased.
