29 I had a health scare yesterday. Got up, went to the bathroom, got dizzy and fell down. Damaged the toilet paper dispenser and my arm. Took a trip to hospital in the chopper. Lots of tests later they told me I have vertigo. Don't know what caused that. Still don't feel 100%.

92 I had a health scare yesterday. Got up, went to the bathroom, got dizzy and fell down. Damaged the toilet paper dispenser and my arm. Took a trip to hospital in the chopper. Lots of tests later they told me I have vertigo. Don't know what caused that. Still don't feel 100%.

Sorry to hear that, Ronster. I got that back in late 2018 -- the day after Thanksgiving. I was fine that morning as we drove up to a little town NW of the city. Climbing out of the car, I suddenly felt woozy. I was able to drive back, but for a while I really couldn't function well. My doctor prescribed Valium, which didn't work, and neither did Dramamine, not really. I had to go to physical therapy, which did clear it up.

On the plus side, my doctor wrote me the now-famous letter exempting me from wearing masks because of it.

176 Ronster, Mr. L had the same thing happen in the middle of the night. Dropped like a sack of rocks out cold. He hit his chin on the sideboard and was bleeding. Got him to the emergency room and they said it could be caused by micturition syncope-which is fainting immediately after urination, due to a severe drop in blood pressure. Got his chin stitched up and had a CAT scan for concussion. He was okay but didn't feel right for a month. Not sure what causes it. Look it up.

I was talking about both the SD & ND D1 (FCS) schools. ND joined the Big Sky and I believe SD was interested. NDSU and SDSU apparently weren't all that enamored with the idea mainly because the conference covers the entire West with schools in MT (2), ID (2), UT, AZ, CO, WA, OR, & CA(3) and travel costs would have been prohibitive. ND's last year in the Big Sky I think was last year.

366 @ Ronster - Vertigo is a bitch! Usually thought to be caused because of crystals in the ear doing some funky stuff, but I don't think that's the only thing which causes it. IF it turns out to be your ears, and doesn't resolve, there is a non-medication physical therapy which worked really well for me. Look up benign positional vertigo treatment on you tube. Of course there may be other issues, like low blood pressure, or a combo of things.

BTW: White rook moves and takes the black knight. king must remove the rook but then the white queen moves to the end black row and checkmates black.

I can figure the moves. I just can't put them or read them using the notation.

375 I am enraged and need somewhere to rant so, here goes.

I read a lot. 75-100 books a year. Its partly how I relax, partly how I control my raging imagination, and partly how I learn to write. I don't have much money, so I get a lot of books from the local library. I order books to be held on line, go down and pick them up. Remember that part.

Which shut down in winter 2019 to renovate and earthquake-resistance the building. In early 2020 they opened up a temporary location and you could get books from there... except everyone went batfuck insane and shut down the world because of the sniffles. So the library was still not available.

So they came up with a cunning plan: you could get books, at the new location, if you got a scheduled appointment where you could go get the books outside in a plastic bag because... apparently that's germ free or something.

The problem is, they decided that you didn't have to return books, and would get no fines added until the 14 days to flatten the curve was over.

A year later, they still were doing this, except intermittently the whole place just shut down without warning...

That sucks. My husband only does ebooks from the library. I buy cheap books, and we have a home library.

381 ...and lo and behold as people checked out more and more books without bothering to return them, fewer and fewer books could be put on hold. My mom has had 8 books sitting on hold since February 2020.

Meanwhile all this time we had books that had been checked out since January of 2020, just before the shut down. I tried to return them 5 separate times and each time there was another reason that the place was shut down and not available information not on any website connected to the library. Just nope, Fuck you. Cannot drop them off. OVer and over.

Finally we got those turned in, just before the deadline. There was a whole week right before they reopened, between when they closed the temporary place and opened the proper location when you could not turn in books. So I managed to get them snuck into the library on the 1st, finally...

Do they... not WANT people reading? Do they want the Library to just not be available at all? Do they just want to screw with me personally?

I cannot just get out and go do stuff any old time. I have poor health, and no car. I have to rely on others to do stuff. I cannot just whip out any time I want. And they're making it harder and harder to actually do anything.

All because of a fucking virus that has a lower than .05% lethality rate??? I just want to punch someone's face until its paste.

The first time I had raging vertigo - I had a weird event the day before. I got up in the am, went to the kitchen and reached into the cupboard for a cup - and blackness rolled over me. I had enough left in me to get myself on the floor - but barely. I felt retched that whole day, spacey and weak, disconnected and a bit of trouble to communicate. Woke up at 4am with my world tumbling over and over - I smashed into walls, I didn't seem to have control of my limbs. That day at the hospital was bizarre, because my body felt sort of a little paralyzed, but I was afraid to say that to the staff - they were already treating me like I was taking up room. Fuckers. I have lived here since 1969 and we had one 5.6 in 1993 earthquake. Theoretically we could have more, but its not like we're living on a fault line.

I think its some kind of law that all state and city buildings have to be to a certain level of earthquake safety.
