Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | If Gen. Milley Were A Traitor, What Would He Have Done Differently?General Mark Milley is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest ranking military officer in the United States. As the debacle of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan now morphs into a hostage crisis for the Americans left behind, it’s fair for those of us who love our country and support our troops to ask this question: If General Mark Milley were a traitor to our country, what – if anything – would he have done differently? The most famous traitor in American history was Benedict Arnold. His treasonous act during the Revolutionary War was his attempted surrender of the military fort at West Point to the British. Fortunately, his efforts were not successful. By contrast, General Milley ensured that Bagram Air Force Base fell into enemy hands by simply abandoning it in the middle of the night, without even handing it over to our putative Afghan allies, and while thousands of Americans were still in Kabul. He then moved evacuation efforts to a poorly secured commercial airport not designed for military use. Milley was passionate about Bagram’s closing although he could never articulate why it must be closed. While testifying to Congress in June he stated, “So, a couple of quick comments here. On Bagram, it’s not necessary tactically, operationally, for what we’re gonna try to do here with Afghanistan. Consolidate on Kabul, with, in support of their government.” That was simply not true. Bagram was critically needed both tactically and operationally, even more so because everyone knew the Afghan government would fall sooner or later - most likely sooner. Yet General Milley desperately wanted us not to have Bagram when we needed it most. You know what Benedict Arnold didn’t do? He didn’t give billions of dollars of military equipment to the British. But that is exactly what Gen. Milley gave to the Taliban. He handed the Taliban over 64,000 Humvees and other vehicles, plus almost 500,000 guns! If an enlisted man loses his gun while on patrol, the men in his platoon might have to risk their lives to go find that one gun so it doesn’t end up in enemy hands. Yet the arsenal below is what General Milley chose not to remove from theater, allowing it instead to become property of the Taliban. My wife noted in disgust the incompetence of our military leadership in not being able to remove the aircraft, when they had several months to simply fly the aircraft out. She’s actually being charitable in assuming that Milley and the brass wanted to remove the aircraft, hindered only by their own incompetence. It’s just my observation and opinion, but turning over as much military equipment as possible to the Taliban almost seemed to be part of the mission. Per a recent USA Today article, “Marine Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, head of U.S. Central Command, said some of the equipment had been ‘demilitarized,’ essentially rendered inoperable” and per a Defense consultant named Loren Thompson, "The helicopters are the most expensive item, but the ability of the Taliban to operate and maintain them without outside help is modest." No one seems to know how much of the equipment in the chart above was decommissioned, but just this week the Taliban appeared to put at least one of those Blackhawks to use as a flying gallows. And how about all those “decommissioned” military vehicles the Taliban is driving in their victory parade? If a General wanted to sabotage the effectiveness of his fighting force, what else might he do? Perhaps try to divide his troops into hostile sub-groups? Gen. Milley is leading the charge on Critical Race Theory, pushing the troops to explore the idea that the United States is an illegitimate country, plagued with systemic racism and “white rage.” He seemingly wants white troops to confess their racism and profess shame for their skin color while teaching minority troops that they are all victims, and that their fellow white troops are actually their oppressors. Yeah, that’ll further the esprit de corps necessary for the troops to fight as one unit. Fortunately, the troops are much better Americans than General Milley is. Despite his efforts to divide and demoralize our troops, they remain unified and they are the pride of US citizens. Speaking of Gen. Milley’s efforts to demoralize the troops, why would he condone Drag Queen Shows for young, testosterone-filled men? Maybe General Milley is simply trying to groom those young men to fulfill a fetish of his. Alternatively, compelling young fighting men to engage in cross-dressing and teaching them that drag queen shows are part of the military lifestyle could be an effective way to take the military spirit out of them. I don’t know what has made General Milley choose to aggressively sabotage our military while at the same time provide our enemy with a mind-boggling arsenal. Incompetence is his best defense. But if the intent was to aid and abet the enemy while sabotaging the military operation he led, there could not be a better playbook than the one that General Milley followed. Whether for incompetence or for betraying his country, a court martial is warranted. (buck.throckmorton at protonmail.com) Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)Posted by: Dr.Rev. You know, if you read about the beginnings of the first civil war the democrats prepared for it militarily with US commanders that "accidentally" moved supplies and weapons away from assigned destinations to those which would be more advantageous for them. Grant wrote a lot about the logistics involved and how you could see a war was coming. Lots of coordinated accidents.

I think yo have to draw the line between incompetence and treason.
Milley didn't do this to assist our enemies and harm the US, he did it because he's a freaking idiot and handled everything wrong at the behest of greater fools who wanted everything done this way. They didn't go "we need to help the Taliban, lets screw all this stuff up so they win and we lose!" They are idiots filled with self-righteous absolute arrogance acting like a bunch of independent rivals forced to work together who wanted a big win. They thought they could get the best win ever for Biden and lock in Democrats for eternity in office by working out deals with the Taliban, who they genuinely think are oppressed others who can be trusted and believe their lies. They wanted to get out as fast as possible, but have zero experience with logistics, no wisdom whatsoever, and a near-total lack of common sense. They're fools who think we've been evil for fighting the poor oppressed non-whites who only do these terrible things because they act out in anger in response to our cruelty and oppression. I can think of a way this isn't treason. All of this must be true. 1. Milley and company (M&C) thought with good reason based on confirmed intelligence that the Afghan army would hold up for a reasonable period of time (months or longer) 2. M&C could not secure Bagram, making it better to abandon the facility than try to hold it with an inadequate force. 3. M&C concluded, reasonably and with confirmed intelligence, that augmenting strength to hold Bagram was unnecessary. 4. M&C had reasonable, intelligence-confirmed expectations that the equipment being left behind was for the Afghan army (a putative ally) and would be used in defense of the formal government against the Taliban Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at September 03, 2021 02:04 PM (3p5uk) 29
Meh. I know "treason" now has been redefined to be any kind of stupidity or failure that comes along, but that's just stupid.
But the medieval peasant thing is dominant here, and no point in opposing it. Remember, if it's not "treason" then it's $$$$, or "Soros!", or - well, no, that's ZeroHedge comments section - "the joooos!!". Incompetence, bad judgement, low character, the things that actually produce disastrous policies when it comes to operational questions (most of the time), those simply aren't relevant concepts. 5. M&C had reasonable, evidence-based expectations that US equipment could be operated and maintained by the Afghan army 6. M&C had reasonable, intelligence-backed expectations that HKIA could continue operations and be held successfully. 7. M&C had confirmation from the State Department that all those who needed to get out of Afghanistan had been counted, were known, were informed and were making their way to evacuation points. If *all* of those are true, I would have trouble considering this as treason. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at September 03, 2021 02:04 PM (3p5uk) 31

If you've ever argued with or talked to one of these people you discover quickly several things:
1) they reject anything that challenges their worldview or assumptions out of hand without consideration. It simply doesn't exist and you're a freak and conspiracy theorist for even bringing it up. 2) they believe utter nonsense that cannot be supported by reason or experience, because they wish it to be true. 3) they will act based on these two things, so even if they are given good information if it contradicts what they want to be true then they ignore it. Some agencies report to some members, others to others. They all have their own information sources. They have their own gangs. They all give orders to their people. So my question is, is he out? We have to know that only a military filled with queer and "trans" in leadership would be pushing the things they are pushing. Being gay has nothing to do with an effective fighting force. The only reason to make it an agenda item is because it is something they want personally. The few Northern forts and commands were drained intentionally, he believed. I don't have the exact words in front of me now, but he lays out movements in his autobiography. I'm not a civil war scholar by any means I just remember sections pertaining to that in his book. I will state that he took betrayals by those he thought were friends he fought alongside and trained with in a very personal manner and that may have skewed his information. The entire Logistical chain worldwide, is a mess because of what transpired in AF. JP-2, aircraft and parts, consumables, medical supplies, high wear items, etc. have all had to be resupplied in Europe, at sea, the Middle East, and forward supply areas. Those items just don't show up overnight. High need items are being pulled from the Pacific stocks to replenish the shortages. Other theaters will now be short of their authorized levels as a result of this worldwide shift of materials. And transport was in short supply even before this. It is a disaster now. 168 Banana Dream, I was not disagreeing with you or Grant. After the Compromise of 1850 more or less failed and bloody Kansas with Dred Scott decision occurred, the fire eaters in the South more or less moved toward secession. The Whig party disintegrated over the issue, and the older Dems and former Whigs in the South were no match politically for the fire eaters. The North's reaction to the Dred Scott decision and Lincoln's election by a plurality vote sealed the deal. Reading about the politics of that era is incredibly depressing because both ideologues believed that they were justified and would win with few casualties. Too bad we don't have the comparable Guns of August book for the Civil War but it could have easily been avoided.

262 James, the issue is that Afghanistan and Vietnam before it appear to be strategic defeats rather than tactical.
The War of 1812 was viewed in hindsight as America's 2nd Revolution, the setbacks in WWII have to be viewed in the light of overall victory in a very large war as was Antietam. Both Afghanistan and Vietnam had repercussions beyond the borders of the US and Vietnam also had a factor in a major change in US foreign and military policy going forward for decades and had implications in the forthcoming Iran crisis and in Latin America. I would love to have a cougar, big kitty. But I know that some day it would try to eat me or attack me out of anger. Wild animals only temporarily are unwild. It takes generations of domesticity for the tameness to become inherent.
That's the problem with Foxes right now. I want a fox for a pet more than almost anything else in this world. But they are timid and wild, and just not ready for pet status yet. Maybe in 75-100 years. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at September 03, 2021 03:02 PM (KZzsI) 317

312 Just a side note,
The issue to drop nuclear weapons on the USSR post WWII would have seemed like betrayal of an ally to a lot of even the Western world and would have produced significant upheaval. At the time, even China had not fallen. To the US public, the Eastern European countries, by and large, had repressive fascist governments before the war and repressive Communist puppet governments after the war. Felt sorry for them but little support to make them democratic. There was a reason that Republicans won Congress in 46 and it was because they promised to roll back war regulations at home and return to normalcy. There was also no appetite in the British or American public nor even in Congress whatsoever to fighting new wars abroad. Posted by: whig at September 03, 2021 03:11 PM (xunV5) 332
214 The one thing I could never figure out during Obama's term was why they were so freaking desperate to make a deal with Iran. No matter my theories, it never made sense.
--- Because it was a massive graft scheme. There are several layers of under the table deals to determine where the money gets spent. Ultimately, this is how our politicians get rich while in office; it all eventually circles back to them after being laundered a few times. This is also why we give so much "aid" to people who hate our fucking guts. Posted by: Lemmiwinks at September 03, 2021 03:15 PM (h1jJh) 333

True story. On my word as a simpleton.
Today, after work, I took my usual stroll back home down Sesame Street, and I noticed someone I hadn't seen before. I was going to go introduce myself, because it's always fun to meet new people. Before I could get there, though, I saw him throw some trash on the ground and heard him yell racial slurs at Oscar. Then he kicked several puppies, and threw some kids' bikes over the bridge with a litany of obscenities. Finally, he ran up to Grover and shanked him with homemade shiv. I finally caught up to him to ask him what his problem was, and wouldn't ya' know it, he was wearing a Biden/Harris shirt. I guess it's a sad reflection on the world to say I wasn't surprised. I slowly shook my head and walked off. I guess a part of me probably already suspected why he was the way he was. Posted by: Simple Stevo at September 03, 2021 05:16 PM (zRSRE) 341
Could not agree with this most. The man, and others, need to be tried, convicted, and if it can be proved they did this willfully, EXECUTED.
