A rescue duck imprints on a bulldog.

Healing a sick stray puppy who lost all of his hair to scabies.

Rescuing an emaciated puppy, found lying in a puddle, too weak to even stand.

The ultimate battle: Otter vs. Beaver. Just kidding, they're friends. But they'll fight... for your heart.

BABY TIGER! Boy, Joe Exotic had a point!

(I mean about marrying multiple men by getting them addicted to methamphetamine, obviously.)

Carp Arapaima knocks a soyboy out. (Thanks to siftybigtoe for telling me this is an arapaima. He says they've killed people with that powerful ram attack.)

Parkour goof interrupts a skater's stunt.

Dreg attempts to break into a man's house, pays the price.

Antifa should be assaulted on sight, on principle.

Plugs into a standard garage outlet to charge overnight, so no electrician or dedicated charging station required. Hasn't appreciably increased the electric bill either. Love it.

141 Slightly OT, but I got threatened with eviction once. The catch is that when I signed the lease it came with a "one month free" signing deal and when I exercised it--which I duly notified them of in writing--they treated that as nonpayment and began the process. I got it cleared up pronto, but I was not surprised when the complex got bought by a different set of real-estate overlords a few months later and every single staff member was immediately replaced.

Total amateur hour. Any one of them would have been fine running a 20-30 unit facility but they were utterly out of their depth trying to run a 300+ unit multi-building complex.

It's still the spec for some older watch movements. Whale oil is near-perfect for the task... does not gum up, remains liquid over a very wide temperature range, etc.

The watch repair community supposedly trades vintage whale oil through an informal black market.

When the UK football team muffed up the penalty kicks (by using AA persons who were not veteran players) there was a backlash on social media, and rascist things were said.

Outraged, all the usual media commentators said this called for a "culling" of social media, and keeping a "civility score" before you were allowed to voice an opinion.

Then Paul Joseph Watson exposed the fact that all the "racist" tweets were all from 5 accounts in north africa.

180 > What's the bank going to do with the property?

I recall the oil price crash in the late 80s. Several banks here in Alaska went belly-up, and their successors were begging for anyone to take the foreclosed properties off their hands.

One entrepreneur managed to get control of something like 800 rental units, with no collateral or downpayment. I mean, banks were practically giving you a free condo if you opened a Christmas club account.

Then the dude just pocketed all the rent for 6 months and skipped before the units were foreclosed again. He was never found.

$600/month (typical apartment rent here at the time) x 800 units x 6 months = about $2.9 million bucks.

When we eventually get around to writing a new Constitution, I am going to argue for making most of the government roles that are currently elected positions selected by lottery, the way jury duty and the draft are done now, and then make the perqs and salaries low enough that people will do their best to get out of it (as with jury duty and the draft).

Everyone else just assumes that their glorious faction will rule for centuries and consolidates power, which promptly gets squandered by the second-generation inheritors.

The classic comparison, of course, is the French Revolution. One batch of rebels built a stable representative government that's been the top dog for a century, the other destroyed itself after just a couple of years and defaulted to monarchy. This is the difference.

270 It wasn't until after the Depression, maybe WWII and the GI needed housings, that the idea of a 30 year mortgage was implemented.

Near as I could find, mortgages were typically 7 year notes, paid in gold, callable at any time. That meant if someone wanted your property, they would pay off the note at the bank, get the deed, and turn around and demand payment. If you couldn't come up with the scratch, you had to sell. Lots of old Westerns used this "Widow Jenny Losing The Ranch" plot device.

Going farther back, they had debtors prisons. Two types, one for folks who reneged on their property loans, and one for folks who reneged on what we would call credit card debt.

In those days, when you inherited your parents estate, you also inherited their debts. Not just up to the limits of the estate like today.

Before that, the banks screwed over people by setting up mortgages with a "balloon payment" at the end. My great-granddad overcame it by finding a farm with walnut trees in the windbreak woods. 291 Amsoil vs HD Syn 3. Speak and convince me.

**

I have no wisdom for that. I change all my stuff at 5K so that I can keep up with it easily in my head, and there's no point in me using anything more exotic than old fashioned dinosaur Valvoline or Castrol in my engines. Even in my special stuff.

I might consider all synthetic all the time if I ever had a complete tear-down/rebuild or a brand new car, but it would still be mostly a waste because I'd stay with the 5K schedule.

I have read about some people that run their oil for 10K-20K miles and just change the filter. That's fascinating to me, but I don't want to be the one to storm that beach.

I was a guest in a first class hotel a few years ago (client paid) in NYC and they had a public bathroom that was detailed in beautiful marble. Even the urinals were marble. They had an attendant/butler in there to hand you fresh hand towels, after shave, etc. It was directly opposite a barbershop with a bunch of old Italian barbers - hot towels, straight razor shaves, the works.

It was a religious experience.

the easiest check about a restaurant is to check the restrooms. We have a local joint that has the worst set up you can imagine. The restroom is about ten feet from the only entrance. If you spend any time there at all, some cook will go in there. This is in front of the counter, it is truly a weird set up. Not to be squeemish about it, but people don't want to see there cooks constantly hitting the head.

I concur. Its not neccesarily the oil as much as it is regular change and filter replacement.

I had 2001 Dodge Ram that I ran regular Valvoline in for 300k miles. Changed the oil every 10k and the filter every 5k.

I ran synthetic in the Dyna from the time I changed the cams and oil pump, and the lifters. Changed it at 10k or 6 months whichever came first, but also changed the oil filter every 5k or 90 days. I run synthetic in the Electraglide and maintain the same schedule. When the warranty expires, I'll change over to Amsoil. I only use synthetic in the hogs because of the temps.

I have only done the barber shop shave once. It was not a legit Italian and it was worse because of it. The guy kept up-selling me and in the end it was was about $60 back when that meant something. They only took cash and this dufus wanted my id when I went to the ATM. I was from that area and that place kept begging me to come back. I was truly pissed by the ID requirement. The money was nothing, but you don't treat people that way. I mean, get a freaking clue.
Anyway, I have used that shop for twenty plus years, but I never saw that guy again. They don't offer shaves anymore or the traditional Vietnamese head massage they used to do. They probably just said F it, it is not worth it in this day and age. They still only take cash which I kind of respect.

Some bombshell papers I just stumbled on in Denninger's forum. The Japanese paper finds Pfizer vaccine lasts only about 6 to 7 months. Neutralizing antibody half-life is about 68 days.

Second, another study looked at natural immunity vs vaccine immunity (and vaccinating recovered). Natural immunity is far superior, and, just like other studies have suggested, vaccinated recovered individuals will screw up their natural immunity.

If the car's been run once or twice a month, you should probably at least change the oil and filters annually. There are combustion byproducts and water and other contaminants that get into the oil; it's not going to fail catastrophically (especially on a Honda) but it'll last longer if you flush those out with new oil.

You should at least change the oil and the filter. Combustion produces water that combines with other by products to form corrosive compounds. Heating the oil during regular driving helps burn off some of that, but filtration and regular changes do more to prevent damage than anything.

You're probably fine, but I'd certainly keep an eye on upcoming time-based maintenance issues like timing belts and such.

I don't adhere too closely to the 3 month part of "recommended" oil change schedules, but there are some things that it's important with. The timing belt is the biggie because it can ruin your engine (your CRV might have a chain - it's worth finding out). Engine coolant is another that you should stay on schedule with because it changes chemically and can screw up your radiator. I usually just drain and fill it because I've known two different people who have had their systems flushed and it dislodged some piece of trash and caused problems in the tiny little crevices that shouldn't get blocked.
