I'm not the biggest Van Gogh fan in the world but this is one of his better ones (together with his self-portrait, the one of his lover, and many of his rural scenes ... there's a farm scene where his father was apparently buried that's spellbinding for some reason).
Also, like many starving artists (he basically lived off his brother) this dude had a *lot* of issues. His pain, poverty, and not feeling wanted (just the story about his name is creepy as hell, who would want to live with that?) really come through in his works, all the best of which came pouring out in his later adult life in just a few-year period. Would hang, but only in the modern gallery. Posted by: Blacksheep at July 27, 2021 08:41 AM (6mvRv) Posted by: Hairyback Guy at July 27, 2021 08:41 AM (/1l9x) 58

In a short period, like 2 years, maybe less, everything changes. In terms of something I know it was like listening to Love Me Do one day and waking up to hearing For the Benefit of Mr. Kite the next day. That show and the Hopper one in Minneapolis were and still pinnacle days of seeing master works in person. Posted by: LostInSpace at July 27, 2021 09:11 AM (ESLBo) 159

Here's the kicker. The FDA had each of 195 entities run tests on samples containing differing known levels of killed virus to see what Level of Detection would result in a positive test (in other words how sensitive is that particular test was). The smaller the number, the more sensitive the test. The 195 different tests ranged from 180 NADU/ml to 600,000 NADU/ml. This is a 3000 fold difference between the most and least sensitive tests, with everything in between among the 195.
Yet these tests, when run on on actual patients are lumped together as a "positive PCR test". (In this FDA series no info is given regarding cycle thresholds.) Posted by: Muldoon at July 27, 2021 09:58 AM (Xwt96) 362
