The Morning Report - 7/19/21

notkidding.jpg

Good morning kids. Start of a new week and as the situation in Cuba no doubt remains the same, i.e. squalor, misery, frustration and repression, the story has faded from the top of the headlines in both the propaganda house organs of that regime's cheerleaders and actual honest media in and around the blogosphere here in the former United States of America. Sadly, tragically, I don't think the Cuban people are going to throw off the yoke of their oppressors just yet. But it would be foolish for anyone to think that what we saw last week did not scare the hell out of that regime. Those protests were unprecedented and it was not because of Chinese COVID or because of the US embargo - which does not impede the over 150 other countries from trading with the regime, though that inconvenient truth is ignored in the usual quarers. For sure, had the Castro-ites allies and compadres in DC not succeeded in rigging last November's election, President-in-exile Trump would have done everything in his power to assist the Cuban people in breaking free from that Caribbean Kolyma. And whatever pressure he could have applied might have made all the difference. "For all sad words of tongue or pen. . ." etc.

Meanwhile, here in the land of the freebie and the home of the enslaved, people here have had it up to here (holds hand up to eyeballs) with the the bullshit being rammed down our throats, be it lockdowns and the vaccine Gestapo, Crackpot Disgrace Theory, decriminalization of real crime, criminalization, censoring and suppression of speech, thoughts and ideas counter to the Leftist narrative, the dismantling of the military, the erasure of our borders, the forced transformation of the free-market into a fascistic, crony government controlled economy, turning our children into catamites, cross-dressers and disfigured Frankenstein monsters, and worse - zombified pod people eager to denounce us to this evil entity that has its claws clamped on our throats, poised to drag us down to Hell.

Consider the last chapter of [Rules for Radicals], which was published in 1971. It is entitled "The Way Forward." Alinsky writes, "Organization for action will now and in the decade ahead center upon America's white middle class. That is where the power is[.] ... Large parts of the middle class, the 'silent majority,' must be activated[.]"

The left has been working on making the children of the middle class into radicals, turning them against their parents and their parents' values for fifty years now, in multiple generations. All the things we middle-class parents believed in and called good, our children now call bad and false, and more than bad and false, worthy of destruction, especially if we parents are Christian and conservative, and even more so if we are Trump-supporters. Our cancelation is the fruit of the left's strategy to remake America . . .

. . . It is not just we. This is happening to many middle-class families. For example, I met a friend the other day, and she told me she has several friends whose children are canceling them. One of them is a mother with whom my friend was close as their kids grew up. She said this person was an excellent mother, but now her son will have nothing to do with her and is calling her an abusive mother.

My friend's own son canceled her and her husband, too. The son told his mother that everything they taught him was a lie. Before he canceled them, he forbade his mother to talk to him about G-d anymore.

Years ago, my children also told me I was not allowed to talk to them about G-d anymore. Both of us told our children that we would not proselytize, but we could not promise never to mention G-d because we are people of faith; it is who we are.

When my husband posted on Facebook about our plight, more than a few friends responded that they were going through the same things. One mother said her three children will have nothing to do with her anymore and had recently left her out of a family wedding. She said she is also a person of faith.

What is going on is evil. Just evil.

How are we going to deprogram 150 million people? Actually, all things considered the question is how can we stop 150 million people from reprogramming us? And for sure, those of us who cannot or will not get our minds right are going to wind up dead in a ditch. The situation is very much in doubt.

Nations have often gone mad in a matter of months. The French abandoned their supposedly idealistic revolutionary project and turned it into a monstrous hell for a year between July 1793 and 1794. After the election of November 1860, in a matter of weeks, Americans went from thinking secession was taboo to visions of killing the greatest number of their fellow citizens on both sides of the Mason-Dixon line. Mao's China went from a failed communist state to the ninth circle of Dante's Inferno, when he unleashed the Cultural Revolution in 1966.

In the last six months, we have seen absurdities never quite witnessed in modern America. Madness, not politics, defines it. There are three characteristics of all these upheavals. One, the events are unsustainable. They will either cease or they will destroy the nation, at least as we know it. Two, the law has largely been rendered meaningless. Three, left-wing political agendas justify any means necessary to achieve them . . .

. . . America went from the freest country in the world in December 2019 to a repressive, and frightening place by July 2021. It went not so much hard-Left, as stark-raving mad.

That abrupt descent, too, is not workable and millions will collectively decide they have no choice but to push back and conclude, "In the 233rd year of our republic, we tens of millions are not going to cede freedom of thought and expression to thousands of Maoists. Sorry, no can do."

As my Momma of blessed memory always used to say, "evil flourishes." But as I always say, we cannot know the future. As Victor Davis Hanson suggests in the conclusion of yet another fine essay, we were riding high 18 months ago, seemingly poised not only to go from victory to victory in a political sense but perhaps on the verge of a sea change culturally and societally. And yet in an instant, the unleashing of a biological/psychological weapon by the Red Chinese and worse, the eager shredding of any sense of morality, ethics and propriety by the American Left and worse, the abrogation from those allegedly on our side of their duty to stop them, came as punch in the gut and then a stomp on the head. We didn't see that coming, or if we suspected it we couldn't accept it.

Of course, there's the flip side of that. We have had enough of this and people are speaking out and fighting back. Yet you don't have to look to Cuba to see that those who have the whip hand are not going to just give it up. Not without a fight, for all definitions of that word. But we cannot know the future. Even in our darkest moments. If our fellow citizens rotting in jail as political prisoners for the January 6th Democrat-staged "riot" can still sing "The Star Spangled Banner" every night, then surely there is hope? And just as nemesis always follow hubris, perhaps our would-be overlords are now or soon will be thinking the same things we were thinking and feeling at the end of 2019.

Hope so. Cuba Libre! America Libre!

20 In 2009, at the Chicago Tea Party in February, I met a black guy who wore a T-shirt of Obama with the No Ghostbusters look or "Cancel Obama" if you prefer. He would not unzip his jacket the entire time, but lamented how he snuck out of his own home to protest as a conservative because he would be ostracized by them for not supporting BHO as a black man. He said they didn't understand that you don't support "black" you support policy. He said it. 2 months later, my son and husband went again to the tax day tea party and made a video. The close: "Think. It's not illegal. Yet. Saul Alinsky anyone?

21 I'm glad at least that the conversation is turning, however slowly and among limited quarters, into one of the social madness afflicting us rather than "policy differences" or the problems of "partisanship." I always winced when Trump's people would speak of "partisanship" and not the destructive pathology of Leftism. We missed this threat for so long. The Republican Party still doesn't understand (my two red state senators are so behind the curve it's beyond sad), and honestly it may never. This is up to the people now.

Vaccine failure is no undeniable from the Israeli data, and the UK. We're a little behind them, and the failure will soon be obvious here. The Texas fleebaggers illustrate that. 5 out of 5+ fully vaccinated fleebaggers. That's about 10%.

HMS Queen Elizabeth is another example. 100 people out of ship's complement of 700+ now infected. All military are fully vaccinated in the UK.

See Alex Berenson's twitter feed (and get it while you can -- Twitter is going to shut him down soon. They already sent a warning shot across his bow. He won't back down, and will be banned soon).

A vaccine skeptic may brush off a proponent by saying, “It’s approved for emergency use only; it’s not FDA-approved. I don’t think we should require it.” The skeptic is beginning with a fact that’s easily established and shareable. But when pressed, they might reveal that their line of thinking is elsewhere: “There are no long-term studies, and I’m worried about possible long-term effects.” Because the two objections aren't exactly logically connected, the proponent concludes it is irrationalism all the way down.

***

How the F*CK does anyone write that the two things "aren't exactly logically connected"? They are literally the exact same thing.

If you are not strong in your convictions, your children will not see truth in them.

Most studies on why children leave the church reveal that children see parents that do not practice their faith and find it to be false.

And most church programs for youth are centered on entertaining kids, instead of seriously focusing on teaching the the Christian worldview as a discipline and serious study.

Juxtapose that against a collegiate environment in which professors mimic the pulpit (a common tool of the devil is imitation) with an air of authoritativeness and with the power of the grade book to coerce, and you can see how they triumph over Susie Sunday School teacher, who is mostly known for being nice.

The rebuke, reproof and instruction in righteousness. Do any of those things sound like hugs and smiles? If you want your children to practice the true faith, send them out the door as militant Christians with full expectation that the world is evil.

59 Look, I fuggin hate Commies (Dad hates them and was on the ground for years in SE Asia and South Ameria running ops), but to ignore the largest and longest embargo hasn't had any effect is dishonest or ignorant. NO American Businesses or businesses with commercial activities in the US could do conduct trade with Cuba for 40 years until 2000 allowing food and humanitarian aid.

The United States embargo against Cuba prevents American businesses and businesses with commercial activities in the United States from conducting trade with Cuban interests. It is the most enduring trade embargo in modern history. The U.S. first imposed an embargo on the sale of arms to Cuba on March 14, 1958, during the Fulgencio Batista regime. Again on October 19, 1960, almost two years after the Cuban Revolution had led to the deposition of the Batista regime, the U.S. placed an embargo on exports to Cuba except for food and medicine after Cuba nationalized American-owned Cuban oil refineries without compensation. On February 7, 1962, the embargo was extended to include almost all exports. Since the year 2000, the embargo no longer prohibits the trade of food and humanitarian supplies.

60 Nations have often gone mad in a matter of months.
++++
Only sort of. This is nature of exponential functions and inflection points. Once you cross the knee of the curve, things happen *fast* though they don't start that way. Like the quote about how he went broke, often attributed to Hemingway, "slowly at first, then suddenly."

It is always this way. Exponential functions often look linear at the beginning, before they take off. The slow degradation over the course of a couple of generations has now been pushed and is flourishing. We're at or just past the knee of the curve now, so everything is moving radically fast. It hasn't happened in a couple of months, though. Those couple of months are riding on decades of change.

Posted by: Too Bad Costa Rica Sucks at July 19, 2021 07:00 AM (oWBc3)

67 As of 2018, the embargo is enforced mainly through the Trading with the Enemy Act of 1917, the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, the Cuban Assets Control Regulations of 1963, the Cuban Democracy Act of 1992, the Helms-Burton Act of 1996, and the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act of 2000.[2] The stated purpose of the Cuban Democracy Act of 1992 is to maintain sanctions on Cuba as long as the Cuban government refuses to move toward "democratization and greater respect for human rights."[3]The Helms-Burton Act further restricted United States citizens from doing commerce in or with Cuba, and mandated restrictions on giving public or private assistance to any successor government in Havana unless and until certain claims against the Cuban government were met. In 1999, President Bill Clinton expanded the trade embargo by also disallowing foreign subsidiaries of U.S. companies to trade with Cuba. In 2000, Clinton authorized the sale of food and humanitarian products to Cuba.

I have been reading a lot of shit about the 'Rona vaccines and the development thereof over the last couple of days. This is not my field, and I'm not qualified to get into the weedy details, but I can follow along.

What they did was stupid, arrogant, and reckless. Did you know there's never been a successful coronavirus vaccine for humans ever before? Why? It's damned hard. They tried for the first SARS. It failed miserably.

They threw out all the time-tested, well-known cautions and went YOLO. They will reap the whirlwind. The things they did were just Stupid. They've tried to play God. They don't have a fucking clue what they're doing.

Posted by: publius, Rascally Rapscallion (Mzdiz) at July 19, 2021 07:02 AM (Mzdiz)

75 First, this idea of targeting the spike protein alone, which all the vaccines do. It doesn't target the whole virus. Cornoviruses mutate their spike proteins like crazy. This is known.

The vaccine failure here is due to the mutations, most likely (Delta anyone?).

Vaccinating into an active pandemic with a non-sterilizing vaccine is profoundly stupid. It changes the natural selection pressures on the virus, and you can get *more deadly* mutations that become fruitful and multiply because of it.

85 59 The United States embargo against Cuba prevents American businesses and businesses with commercial activities in the United States from conducting trade with Cuban interests.

For the first couple of days, I made note of the kinds of people with masks still on, and the results weren't really what I expected.

The one group that had the masks most often was hispanics. Not young white people (especially women, like I had imagined). Interesting. They were also a vanishingly small percentage of the entire population there. Maybe 1-2% of every crowd was masked. Indoor facilities were being treated like before where you were forced to congregate a whole bunch together to fit as many people into a space as possible. The places were packed full. It was like we had returned to normal.

If any of the social distancing or masking stuff has any effect, I imagine Florida should see an explosion of cases.

Re masks. Some UK health official slipped up and let the cat out of the bag from something I was reading. The masks were only psychological. A feel good measure to make people thing they're in control.

They've known masks don't work for this kind of virus for a century. You know the Spanish Flu (WuFlu is only 1/20th of the impact of the Spanish Flu, BTW). They tried masks then. Laws mandating masks. It didn't work. They knew it then.

They know it now. Way back in early 2020, the Krauts (which can be damned efficient) had a outbreak in a fully masked meat packing plant (remember we had those). They did sophisticated and expensive testing that was able to determine who infected who. You can do this, via the viral mutations, but it takes a lot of effort and expense.

The results proved the virus was transmitted airborne via aerosols. People 100' away, fully masked infected others. This was proven by Science (TM).

They've known this. And known this for 100 years.

Here in middle NC it's black people. Sadly, this pro-virus push has really done a number on their brains.

I have a neighbor who is a college professor and she and her husband both wear their masks exiting their home (on two acres), in the car, etc. Middle aged and doctor-level education.

131 The other interesting thing about Orlando was Dolley.

She's been terrified of covid, and her becoming an effective shut in for the past year and a half because she's gotten a fully remote job with a new company has increased her underlying sense of anxiety. She's been on medication for anxiety in the past, but she refuses to take it anymore because it all makes her gain weight.

Anyway, she never once wore a mask, though she did remark from time to time how she felt kind of nervous. Those remarks fell away by the end, so that when we were sitting in line for the Velocicoaster at 9:45 at night, she wasn't talking about how there were so many people in the enclosed space with us, but just how the single rider line wasn't moving as fast as she had imagined.

132 The bullshit about there only being 11 million illegals living in the U.S. will be exploded if the sneak-amnesty gets passed.

There are, by most estimates, closer to 30-40 million illegals living here. Or rather, that was the estimate prior to Biden's faux-election, after which he opened the floodgates and gave the cartels the green light.

Since January, the government admits to "apprehending" (which means catching, and then letting go into the U.S.) nearly a million illegals.

Border cameras in Arizona show that Border Patrol only "apprehends" about 10% of illegal border crossers. So 90% of illegal border crossers never get "apprehended" by the U.S. government, and are thus conveniently not being counted.

That means that instead of one million new illegals in the past six months, there have likely been closer to 10 million who have actually entered so far this year. If that pace keeps up, we'll be getting 20 million new illegals, per year, during the Biden mal-administration.

1. Hippies tend to be both anti-vax and the type to wear masks since they are not vaxed
2. Lots of virtue-signalling Karens, male and female, fully vaxxed but wearing them to own the Cons.
3. People who are vaxxed but do not trust/believe in the vax.

Some combination of the 3 at work, I think.

(WF is right down the block, and for fresh produce, it's much more convenient for me than the farmer's market. Only reason I go there.)

That MIT paper - which was written by undergrads but endorsed by their data science department - was far more disturbing than that. They concluded that the amateur data scientists organized well, assessed the data, showed their work and supported their conclusions. They found that the non-credentialed/non-academic statistical and data was extremely sophisticated and that the amateur group was more open and transparent than than their professional counterparts.

Then they concluded that this is bad from a social and policy standpoint, and that the problem wasn't inadequate data transparency from public health authorities, but too much - and that the glut of data resulted in some people going off the reservation and looking good doing it.

It was sickening.

The people giving the vaccinations can't disclose personal information about the patients without violating HIPAA -- unless the patients signed a waiver form.

So hypothetically speaking, if someone were to give a fake vaccine card to an employer or potential employer, they should be sure to mention that they didn't waive their HIPAA rights when they signed up for the vaccine.

Ace is honest. I am not sure what else we can ask from someone. It is his blog, but when he goes off, I listen. Trump did make mistakes, I am not sure how anyone could deny it. He was certainly wrong about picking good people for his staff.
But Trump has also been mistreated more than any president. Sure it is is close with Abe Lincoln, but still Trump got the worst press. We all know that the next Repub will get it even worse. These people are truly nuts and they are on a heat check. They are all in and only getting slapped in the face will wake them up.

271 To flood our country in one year with a number of illegal immigrants equivalent to a major city, is perhaps one of the most dastardly, pernicious, illegal and unconstitutional acts in the history of our nation. If Democrats want to have a discussion about that greatest challenge to our nation since the Civil War, it is their attempt to undermine the American Republic and subvert her people with their illegal immigration scheme. The numbers crossing the border have never been seen in our history. The burden being placed illegally on our nation in order to try and change the voting demographic to one they believe is more favorable to them is a scheme is malicious, nefarious, ruinous to our liberty and miasmatic for our country.

It's time to fight back, and if you don't have the stomach for it, step aside. Our future depends on it. We must take them on every front- and win.

A friend of mine was recently hospitalized overnight with the original SARS strain. He waited too long to go in, but in 2 different facilities, multiple Dr's and nurses all said the same thing.

If you feel symptoms, get tested. If you're positive, the treatment is simple. If you wait too long, the treatment is more difficult, but still treatable.

That expression - crime against humanity - gets tossed around a lot. It is perfectly valid in this case. It absolutely is. We have therapeutic and prophylactic treatments. HCQ+Zinc+VitD works reasonably well if you hit it early. Ivermectin, and especially Ivermectin+VitD, works with almost complete efficacy.

We can treat this. We could have obviated the need for a vaccine - even if the vaccines work well and perfectly - sometime around September of last year. Every death since then is on their hands, and it's a staggering toll.

I'm slowly doing that, in my own way. Daughter (Soph) is pretty apolitical, but some of her friends are playing the rainbow unicorn game that's all the rage. Son (Frosh) is a little more aware, but tends toward being overly serious, introverted and anxious about the future - so I don't to drive him toward depression.

So my approach, thus far, has been:

Basically, it's Marvel's version of a James Bond movie, specifically "Moonraker"(shares some plot points) which they tip at the beginning of the movie.

Now - not all took it as a symbol of obedience - as some will calmly and others shrilly explain here. Thats why there will be more such trials in the future. Many, many more. This 'Rona shot - and specifically the mRNA therapy - is only the first.

330 It ain't doom and gloom pointing out the reality of our situation. Doom and gloom is propping up false hope so you can ignore that reality. We need to start taking this shit seriously instead of jerking ourselves off as if this country is still pre-Nov. 3, 2020. Get this through your thick skulls. The left is lawless. They are not going to recognize anything we do within the bounds of the law as legitimate. Seriously wake the F up.

I believe so. It was broadcast on Saturday, and since I was (and am) extremely depressed, I didn't quite catch the date. As it turned out, the vital clue was that they were able to determine, by the thickness of the marker strokes, that the "FED" had been written upside down, soit was obvious the dead man had done it to himself.

So what do we do? Republican party is dead. I'm all for a new party. But seriously what can we do when they have the schools, school board, local elections, the media, cops, military, social media and half the country on their side? I'm all ears, but I'm not finding a solution here.

343 "You could say this is our own long march through the institutions."

This is not the way. Violence is the only solution. The reason we are losing is because we keep playing this passive Prevent Defense. More of what got us here is not going to lead us out.

We are like Ben Shapiro, thinking a stellar debate performance against Marxists is going to amount to anything other than getting us put on a List of Unpersons.

Posted by: Hoyt's Paid Turkish Provocateur at July 19, 2021 08:44 AM (49Exr)

344 @339 Secret Squirrel-I've said it many times. Get off our asses and show a presence on the streets. We are not heard, we are not seen. If people are really as pissed off as we think then people will be drawn together. Peaceful protests in large numbers, in numbers comes some safety.
Vote at your local level city, state, county to preserve what you got. Thinking we are going to vote our way out of this through senate, congress or presidential elections more than likely is delusional at this point. The dems are not going to rest idle, I'm sure they have plenty of shenanigans planned between now, mid terms and 24'.

It's hard to maintain optimism, but in its absence, you can still cultivate determination.

Surrender is not an option. Bending the knee is not an option. Compliance is not an option. None of these will save your life when the enemy is comfortably enthroned.

Figure out what options you still have and keep moving.

358 "Here's your opportunity to tell us exactly what we need to do right now."

And if he doesn't have The Solution to our problems, then what? Is he wrong? A doctor can diagnose a disease without knowing what cure to proscribe. Does that mean he shouldn't?

With respect, I get where you are coming for, but it feels like a rhetorical trap designed to shut down criticism. However he answers he'll get boxed in - as either a Rando Keyboard Commando (Correia) or an FBI Provocateur Mole (Hoyt).

Is it really so wrong to question our current tactics without having a better plan? For example, I don't know how to turn the power back on, but do I know that poking the electrical socket with a fork isn't working.

Posted by: Hoyt's Paid Turkish Provocateur at July 19, 2021 10:17 AM (49Exr)

359 Here's our plan (as I know it, because we can't even communicate in hypotheticals because everyone is a Stasi mole)

1) buy lots of guns and ammo and get range time
2) let the Marxists decide when the gun battle happens
3) make a last stand alone to be picked of one by one
4) in our homes, next to our kid's bedroom

I think that's a stupid plan, not only because it's tactically unsound, but also because I think the Marxists will grab the guns using non-violent means involving some kind of Social Credit (ie. hospice for mom denied, business license revoked, college admission declined... until you get yourself off that naughty Firearms Registration List)

360 "Chinese firms have expanded their presence in American agriculture over the last decade by snapping up farmland and purchasing major agribusinesses, like pork processing giant Smithfield Foods. By the start of 2020, Chinese owners controlled about 192,000 agricultural acres in the U.S., worth $1.9 billion, including land used for farming, ranching and forestry, according to the Agriculture Department."

This is the shit that truly piss's me right off. Fucking American's sell out the country. And the Government wack jobs are "considering" putting in place laws that will take away government subsidy's to foreigners. W T F They should not be allowed to buy anything company that is part of our food supply OR supply our medicines. PERIOD. Wonder where the freakin GOP is on this subject?
