Good Morning Morons. Today is Sunday, July 18, 2021. On this day in 1290 King Edward I of England issued the Edict of Expulsion, banishing all Jews (numbering about 16,000) from England; this was Tisha B'Av on the Hebrew calendar, a day that commemorates many Jewish calamities.

They always start, " its only a dozen so who can be against that? First, social media has been coordinating to silence influential/well-trafficked non-progressive and conservative voices for years. Heck, they already deplatformed an entire social media site, Parler, for allegedly facilitating the 1/6 protests (despite most of the social media organizing being done on facebook), completely deplatformed and actively suppress a former POTUS, and hacked Gab*. So my question at this point is: How long have government people (elected officials, agency representatives) been directing social media to silence opponents and speech they dislike? It certainly won't be the first time w/Biden's current demand, that's for sure. *Gab itself was deplatformed years ago, and so was 8Chan. Posted by: Lizzy at July 18, 2021 05:33 AM (bDqIh) 34

Submissives always gotta be selling submission as a virtue, I guess:
@EWErickson Im sorry. I repent. I'll stop buying from companies that have otherwise publicly been on my side, but that one time offended me. Instead of respectfully reaching out to suggest they got it wrong, I'll condemn and organize a boycott because that's what the other side would do. I'm not angry about BRCC nor do I demand others to be, etc.. However, our alleged conservatives in the MSM continue to fail at doing even the most basic things to defend conservative principles and those who express/demonstrate them. Odd, eh? Gee, has he ever done this was a conservative, such as Michelle Malkin, or does he hop on the "BURN THE WITCH!" bandwagon w/the Left when a non-progressive says or does something that offends them? This is the same shtick Ben Shapiro sells. He's oh so reasonable and calm when some Lefty says something outrageous, and counsels we not get extreme with deplatforming demands. I think the steakhouse down the road is using the strategy of raising their prices more and more and more until people stop coming and then they will close. Every time I go in there prices have gone up, but as long as people will pay $30-$40 for an average steak they will keep doing it. He's smart to maintain margin, but once the prices get so high people stop coming that 40 year old business will close.

You see it in the DC area, counting Maryland and Virginia. Sure people want the cash, but there are few areas near a major sports stadium you would like to hang out in. They mostly put these stadiums in areas that need the money or or they hope their fortunes will change. in reality, you won't see any wealthy suburbanites pine for a sports stadium. I admit, that area of DC is better than it used to be, but we are grading on a serious curve here. Posted by: Quint at July 18, 2021 06:17 AM (F2/Ok) 89

86 Heh. Lawyer friend was telling me about a client complaining about business at his restaurant (guy had the restaurant and a couple other businesses). Lawyer suggested hanging a bunch of junk on the wall, getting some square plates, cut the portions in half, double the price and call it fine dining. It worked.

I see them more or less organized like ISIS, as in separate terror cells run by totalitarians who recognize a non-traditional hierarchy. The key is to understand the rainbow yard phylacteries. The question to ask them should be: Who are you trying to impress with this message? There are defacto top Politiburo types: Soros, those hidden by the Tides Foundation, etc. Throwing money, power and authority at people are vectors of "approval". Those seeking these things make up ad hoc quid pro quo barters. New business push for Ancestry.com: "Who owes you reparations? We can help you figure it out!"
The major problems associated with Ancestry.com is that so many homes are broken with multiple marriages and divorces, shacking up, far too many bastards, and a genuine lack of documentation. So you go the DNA route. Except that none of the DNA places can go back more than a couple generations. After that the differentiation is technically inconclusive. The different DNA businesses have proprietary methods, and only look at a relatively tiny subset of DNA. It often happens that you can get two more very different histories from different companies. While Critical Race Theory has the noble goal of pointing out problems that can be hard to see and that maintain or constitute racism...
** Sadly it starts out with a bullsh*t premise. Best I can tell, CRT wants to use basic human nature to divide people in order to achieve what the CRT people want. A white guy hires a black guy? He's a racist because that hiring benefits him. White guy doesn't hire that same black guy? He's a racist there, too, for obvious reasons. But most serious scientists, geanalogists, historians, etc think they are mostly a scam.
I've been deeply engrossed in the One Thousand Genome Project (1KGP) and the other attempts to get a better understanding of how we are all related. The short answer is: We (people of all ethnicities) are closely related - far more closer than was previously thought. George Whitefield, back in the 18th century was telling young male colonists to mate with the native women in that "they are fine strong women and the color will be bred out after a couple generations" Even back then it was common to know that there was a lot of mixing among the ethnicities. I recall hearing there were more variances among races than between races. Look I wish I had all the answers but I don't. I know people who have been into genealogy they entire lives and still have a lot wrong. What is an adoptee to do or someone from a family that didn't care? Even those that do care often get it wrong. When you think of the permutations even with just a few generations, it is way more complicated than many want to believe.

Non sequitor. Stocks are just one form of equities. There is a lot of money out chasing investments. Most good investments are not available to the retail investor, plus the price per share makes it difficult to buy for many, plus the tax regulations highly favoring stock investment. Ergo, mutual funds, index funds, and a host of vehicles that pool shares for puts, calls, options, etc. You can't walk on down to the HR department and tell them that you want your matching 401k money to be invested in your cousin's bar and grill. You got to play the game that the Party allows you to play. Posted by: Reuben Hick at July 18, 2021 07:18 AM (qg3qm) 183

so there is a famous golfer named Rory Mcilroy. I am not calling him out, as this is well known and had been all over the press for years. But something about this stood out to me. It is probably because i follow golf and pretty much no other sports at this juncture.
They asked Mcliroy if he felt more British or Irish, he is from Northern Ireland. This was before the 2016 olympics, so it was likely in 2015. He said he felt more "British" and since he is a citizen of Great Britain, that makes sense. But man that guy got a crazy load of blowback. In the end he skipped the Olympics and to be honest I don't blame him. But now he he has decided to play for the Republic of Ireland in the next games. I can say my opinion on the subject, and to be honest, this is one I am sure of. Rory decided to play for a country he is not a citizen of, because the people there, and many in this country were raising a shit fit. He is from Northern Ireland, part of the UK, but he will play for a different country, The Republic of Ireland. He got so much blowback he realized one side would lose their minds while the other would let it go. So he joined the side that would lose their minds.
I am personally not bothered by this. And for sure the politics or Norhtern Ireland are way different than the politics of the USA or even Greece. I am not offended by his choice but I do find it odd. It is odd to play for a nation you are not a citizen of. Again I realize it is complicated, and I wish him only the best. But he said he felt more British, that is a fact. When a bunch of people lost their shit, he changed. In the end, he did it because he wanted to placate the people who lost their shit. Posted by: rhennigantx at July 18, 2021 07:46 AM (yrol0) And that's the whole issue. How it's weighted and who gets to decide. It ends up going back to state-enforced confiscation and redistribution, which has the same fatal flaw it always has. Once you create a redistribution agency, you have a small group that controls all the wealth. Define aristocracy? Oh. As Chesterton said, there's never been an aristocracy that didn't behave exactly like a small gang. Once it exists, the purpose no longer matters, and it will do as it pleases. There are many other reasons including government protection, only game in town, etc... but I think another overlooked one is that in many of these companies, the original people are dead and their rich kids have taken over. They are not only more woke, they are out of touch, and most importantly they are *stupider*.

One form of inflation is production deficits. The price of an item is so high it can't be obtained, at least temporarily. There are now so many holes in so many supply chains you are seeing the economy literally grind to a halt.

Somehow I just don't see the Vax Man showing up at any rural compound with an aid in tow to give you the jab on your front porch. The videos circulating about this are all in the projects, public housing complexes, planned suburbs and the like.
They ain't getting out of their comfort zone near the blue, urban shit holes. Its an efficiency thing. Not enough Useless Eaters have gotten the jab. Sort of like Cuomo maximizing death by funneling the most vulnerable into senior citizen homes and then writing a book on what a great leader he is. Saving the State billions in entitlement outlays! Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the Lord. Blessed are those who keep his statutes, and seek him with all their heart- they do no wrong, but follow his ways. You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me.

Again, before the Book Thread, can't recommend more the book "Barbarians to Bureaucrats" which describes the stages a company goes through from founder to its most dysfunctional state. The 3rd generation sounds like they have hit the Aristocrat stage, where they truly believe by the force of their very entitled nature that the world always works in their favor. Many of them quickly assume that they are enjoying the success in one domain that they can have equal success in others, and thus transform their companies into ESG hedge funds. -- One thing I'm finding a little success with, as in breaking through to some degree, is telling them how things are going to unfold in the future. Pick a topic, any topic. And say, this is what's going to happen (and make it brutally ugly) because of leftist Democrats pushing for "x." What starts to happen is they start to see it for themselves. The key is to tie the Democrats with their own words and their own legislative votes or presidential actions to "x." When it starts to happen, your words will hopefully ring in their ears and the gears might start to turn. Posted by: Lady in Black at July 18, 2021 08:06 AM (O+I8R) 278

_____________ Reminds me of that Steve Bing guy, whose kids have been in the news lately (one is actress Liz Hurley's son) because they were cut out of grandpa's trust. Steve Bing inherited $600 million from his grandfather Leo Bing, a NYC real estate developer. Steve Bing blew through the money (bad investments, bad political contributions, loose women, etc.) and died by suicide at age 55, leaving an estate worth less than $350,000. His father, Dr. Peter Bing, also inherited millions from Leo, but Peter Bing invested his money and became a billionaire. Now his dead son's two kids, by gold-digging moms, want a share of grandpa Peter Bing's money (since daddy Steve died broke), but the courts said no. Billionaire Peter Bing has the right to say which grandkids he wants to give his money to, and which he doesn't. Posted by: TrivialPursuer at July 18, 2021 08:55 AM (k4dH2) 291

Greetings:
"The Spanish Holocaust" by Paul Preston Greetings: Mired as we seem to be in our progressive 21st Century, I found this book to have been "captured" by its title. In his effort to make it come true, the author seems determined to document every slice and slight through our current lenses. I was a couple of hundred pages into the reading when I came across "and twenty-five sheep were taken from a wealthy land owner."as if the "wealthy" was a mitigation of the "taken". The 500 or so very packed pages of a litanization of what happened was way too much for my current level of interest. That being said, I found no reason to doubt the information the author provided. And I am going to give the author's "The Spanish Civil War" a shot in my near future. Posted by: 11B40 at July 18, 2021 10:10 AM (evgyj) 296
