Republican Senators Block Democrats' Attempt to Nationalize Elections and Make the Corrupt, Rigged 2020 Voting Rules the Rules Forever

Strange how Republicans object to the 2020 voting rules being applied to their future races, while continuing to insist that there was nothing to complain about in the 2020 presidential election.

In any event, they stopped it. For now.

Senate Republicans torpedoed the "For the People Act," a federal takeover of elections, on Tuesday night. The legislation received 50 affirmative votes along party lines, with no Republican support. Democrats were unable to overcome the GOP filibuster to move forward with the legislation.

And yet there was no fraud, using the same corrupt techniques, in Trump's supposed defeat!

Extraordinary.

It's almost as if the corporate-controlled pawns of the Ruling Class we call "Republicans" joined with their Democrat buddies to "fortify" the election against Trump.

Leftwing "journalists" of course acted like DNC Enforcement Thugs and began crying out for vengeance.

You know, like objective writers of the First Draft of History always do.

Much journalizming!!!

Understand what Fredo is saying: He, supposedly a "journalist" and specifically, according to CNN, a news anchor and not an opinion commentator, is blasting the Democrats for not being partisan enough.

Is this the sort of thing that objective journalists routinely say? That actual committed partisans aren't partisan enough?

Dat's crazy talk. Except it isn't, of course. It does, however, show where the line is. The Republicans are willing to put up with anything to get rid of their enemies, and then are also willing to do just enough to improve their odds in the future.

If you can't have a principled party, a party that behaves this way is actually acceptable and will make progress - exactly as the GOP has and does.

The problem is that the enemy is us.

Only time WH party gained in House that I can think of was 2002, when - for a very brief fleeting moment - Dem behavior, in this case following 9/11, was so egregious that enough Dem robot voters and probably some "independents" voted GOP out of disgust.

Otherwise, non-WH party gaining in House is pretty much like the tides, or the Pacific Decadal Oscillation.

77 Maybe I'm just black-pilled, but I question how big a victory this actually is. The widespread fraud that happened in 2020 was illegal anyway, and yet here we are. Everyone went along with it. Hell, everyone *enabled* it.

It's sort of how I feel about the new state-level legislation to try to improve elections. What's the point if the SoS, the press, the Congress and everyone else is just going to look the other way? What difference does it make that the bad actors will be breaking more laws next time than they broke (without consequence) last time?

This defeat does prevent the feds from institutionalizing some of the yawning problems that enabled the theft in 2020 and making them mandatory, though. So I suppose that's something. It just isn't much.

87 A big win for us, for sure. But like mutant cockroaches in bad sci-fi movies, nothing the Dumocraps ever propose ever really dies. You can stomp it, burn it, pour acid on it, have Potato Head Stelter sit on it. And have Swallowswell fart on it. No matter. It always comes back to life in one form or another. Always. And unfortunately, it's largely because the GOP wants to take its victories home and put them on display in trophy cases. Then the want to take a long nap. Meanwhile the Dumocraps play the long game. They never rest whether it's win, lose, or draw. Their psychotic lust for total power is never satiated. Never. You cannot defeat people like this without becoming people like this.

90 The issue is how to prevent fraud without handing the elections over to a corrupt bureaucracy. It's not going to be easy.
Posted by: pep at June 23, 2021 01:20 PM (v16oJ)

There is only one way to restore faith in elections, and that is transparency. If all data was available publicly, it could be crowdsourced to search for fraud. There are ways to do this without exposing the secrecy of the ballot (I could talk all day about my proposal), but I think we should be demanding that states make databases publicly available.

There is no "rules-based" world or magic, no degree of federal involvement, that can ensure integrity in a system, if the various individuals and collectively the institutions involved themselves do not act with integrity.

Paper ballots, one day of voting, voter ID, total transparency/access at all stages, no electronics, rigorously vetted registration.

It's long been a rumor that Subway and other companies use fake meat to save money. Like substituting tilapia or whatever cheap fish they can find for Tuna, and god only knows what they're accused of substituting for chicken.

But, again, there is so little upside to Subway if that's true, and tuna especially is not very expensive. So idk.

I'm sure the NYT could have just ... called Subway and asked to inspect one of their processing facilities / massive cooking warehouses and grabbed a random sample from the line if they wanted to do real journalism.

IIRC the States can refuse to run their own State elections on years when the Feds are not running theirs.

It would have an additional benefit from my point of view: it would raise turnout thus stopping small turnout elections in 'off' years passing school bonds and other tax bonds.

Posted by: 18-1 at June 23, 2021 01:41 PM (DpkTQ)

I suppose it's possible. But I think it's more likely that it is real tuna. DNA testing a product that has been cooked, mixed with mayo, spices, herbs, and whatever else, refrigerated, shipping to a store, put on bread with cheese or whatever else, taken back to the NYT times building, frozen, shipped to a lab, then thawed out and tested is a bit difficult. Hard to say if it's accurate or not.

As even the NYT admits, if you read far enough in to the article.

Also, they bought Tuna sandwiches with mayo and whatnot mixed in, froze it, then sent it to a lab, who re thawed it. Even the lab was like "ehh... idk how well our tests will actually work on this."

And they quoted a franchise owner who made an excellent point who said more or less "Tuna is super cheap, why would subway corporate use fake tuna?"

Anyways, if they wanted to do a real test, they'd need to get the raw tuna before Subway processes it.

223 In all seriousness re Subway and tuna. It has been documented multiple times that when you buy seafood whether at a sushi bar or supermarket you are often not getting what is one the label--e.g. scallops could be shark, crab meat--pollock, and so on. The more expensive the fish, the more temptation to substitute.

Look up Oceana which tries to fight seafood fraud for consumers. A lot of seafood now is imported and frankly not really inspected by the FDA and USDA that well coming into the US. The Euro food labeling laws are much stricter with the French probably coming out on top as requiring extensive information.

"Why do you support child sacrifice?"

Because I just realized, that's all it is. Killing a living humans just to fulfill someone else's desires - for prosperity in some form- a better dating lif, college, a career, "freedom" to do what you want to do.

Not significantly different than Ba'al or whoever demanding child sacrifice in return for the promise of prosperity thru rain, better crops, power over enemies, or whatever.

It stems from wedge-driving critique. The methodology as developed by the Critical Theory crowd (largely German, derived from French Postmodernism) is quite simple. While keeping your goal in mind (in their case, the imposition of socialism and destruction of old structures):
1. Pick a social or political area that is interfering with your goal
2. Critique and criticize it on social and "justice" bases
3. Provide an alternative to "correct" the problem
4. Impose the correction, however minor or partial
5. Go to 1 until you control the entire system and have absolute power

If you think this looks akin to Alinksy's approach to dealing with individuals, you're not wrong.

Pentagon is in the tank. President Trump ran on getting us out of Afghanistan. Ordered it more than once, but the Pentagon and his own Ret. General Chief of staff didn't do it.

Suddenly, Biden in office, they are following his directive and we are leaving.

Pentagon generals did NOT want Trump to end the war in Afghanistan, as it would be a political promise he kept.

While Trump was in Office, we lost 51 men in Afghanistan... that was the cost of the Pentagon's political statement.

This is out of Antifa's playbook, they are trying to provoke us.

I was at the protest outside the VP Mansion during the Bush-Gore 2000 mess. Freeper protest. Leftist across the street started calling me names and when I yelled back, he motioned the "come and get me then" gesture.

Didn't understand why until later - they pushed a 12 year old girl in the crosswalk to the pavement. She wasn't even part of the protests, just lived nearby, trying to get around it all. Our side rushed in and got in their face when suddenly, CNNs camera crew swooped in to try and get the "gotcha" clip.

They are trying to provoke an uprising, which means they have some counter already set up waiting for it.

It is *extremely* convenient, isn't it? It derives from Postmodern social constructionism. Everything is socially constructed, all social constructions are dominance hierarchies, all dominance hierarchies are built on oppression, oppression begets more oppression, which perpetuates the hierarchy.

So one must critique the dominance hierarchy, identify the source and beneficiaries of the oppression, disrupt it, disempower the top of the hierarchy, study the new resulting social construction and then cycle through the process indefinitely until the uptopian world free of hierarchies (e.g., perfectly flat, cooperative socialism) is achieved.

In a nutshell, that's Critical Theory. The details are riveting, but that's essentially the framework.

I agree. Summer recess. Big BS on 2022 budget and reconciliation. Then Holiday break and we're in 2022 election cycle.

The Ds thought the MSM had enough pull to get their fantasies enacted. Nobody listens to the MSM. Look at CNN and MSNBC.

The Ds don't realize the President drives national conversation and thought Schumer and Pelosi could get it done with the MSM. Trump was portrayed as being out there and in your face because he was and they had to cover him.

They thought the same hide and seek would continue to work. Who gives a fuck about what Schumer and Pelosi says. But even if you're a casual voter, if the President is on TV most will pause and listen a little bit. This agenda is thankfully going down.

Part of Biden's speech will be that if the ATF even suspects a Federally licensed Gun dealer of making a mistake, they will immediately loose their license and will told where and how to dispose of their remaining inventory...

Even if there is no Court involved to prove they did something wrong.

There is no individual. Everything is group dominance. There may be sub-hierarchies within those, but they're waved away. Everything is collective. Oppression, guilt, whatever - it's all collective.

This is ham-handed and low-resolution and causes problems even within their group. This is why we keep seeing stick-saves like intersectionality. Intersectionality gets tricky because there is no effective limit to the subdivision - that is, the sub-hierarchies within the groups).

Logically (not that logic applies - it's just an oppressive social construct), the final end result of this a reduction to the individual. Every single person is differently oppressive and oppressed and it breaks down to a group of *one* when taken to its conclusion. The only way to work it would be on an individual basis, and the only way to manage a system that big is through approximation - that is, an open marketplace.

Of course, we'll all be murdered before it reaches the point of coming full-circle..

Paper given out by the President about his upcoming speech.

Now, note. The way it works. You don't need a Court order to suspend a License. All you need is an ATF order. The shop then has to sue to prove the ATF was incorrect to reinstate said license.

So, even with a fake allegation, they can take your license, then make you pay a lawyer to get it back... which will bankrupt many many small businesses that currently have Fed Firearm Licenses.

461 440 Boswell, the preclearance issue came from the emergency provisions of the Voting Rights Act. However, the court increasingly warned Congress that the emergency provisions were becoming increasingly suspect forty some odd years after the voting rights act was passed. Eventually, the Court killed the emergency provision as no longer applicable because of the constitutional rights for states to run their elections outweighed the federal's diminishing interests in requiring those provisions only in the jurisdictions named in the original VRA. Preclearance did not apply to jurisdictions outside of the named ones in the original 1965 act. Technically, a new VRA could be passed to reinstate the preclearance requirement but it would have to be for the entire US and might still suspect as exceeding the intentions of the 15th Amendment's framing.

"Fuck school.

I believe that was the Snap-chat message that the cheerleader in the SCOTUS 1st Amendment case (released this a.m.) sent to her buddies after she didn't make the varsity cheer team.

She was suspended after one of the girls showed it to her mom, who was one of the cheerleading coaches or advisors, or something. Then the girl got suspended from the cheer team for a year, and her parents did what all good Americans do -- they filed a lawsuit in federal court.

465 Researchers find 'tree inequity' for communities of color

Researchers from American Forests found that with few exceptions, trees are disproportionality planted in wealthier and whiter neighborhoods. Redlining in the 1930s is what laid the groundwork for this inequality resulting in communities of color hit the hardest by a lack of trees.

"We're not talking about scenery here. We're talking life and death infrastructure," said Jad Daley, president and CEO of American Forests.

That's because there was a 8-1 decision today on a school's ability to discipline students for social media posts made not on school property. The majority said, no, the school can't do that. Thomas dissented due to how social media posts will be read on school property and he pointed out this decision is at odds with several other decisions.

The case involves a girl who didn't make varsity cheer squad and did a me level profane rant on Snapchat off of school property in which she said the above. It's not random.

506 474 Trivial Pursuer,
Court got it right in her case about the limits on schools being able to censor student rights outside of the school.

Quite a bit of precedent at the circuit level and Tinker v. Des Moines Schools requires school speech limits only are allowed when the speech disrupts the school's education mission. This means that mere criticism outside of school grounds and on a private communication, however vulgar, is not within the school's ability to punish as it did not disrupt the education of students. Considerable discussion of when in loco parentis applies and when it does not by the court. Fredericks (Bong Hits for Jesus) was decided on different ground as to whether the parade in question was a school function.
