Strange how Republicans object to the 2020 voting rules being applied to their future races, while continuing to insist that there was nothing to complain about in the 2020 presidential election.
In any event, they stopped it. For now.Senate Republicans torpedoed the "For the People Act," a federal takeover of elections, on Tuesday night. The legislation received 50 affirmative votes along party lines, with no Republican support. Democrats were unable to overcome the GOP filibuster to move forward with the legislation.
S.1 makes election fraud easier to commit & harder to detect by allowing unlimited ballot harvesting, undermining voter ID laws, & making it more difficult to maintain accurate voter lists.

It's sort of how I feel about the new state-level legislation to try to improve elections. What's the point if the SoS, the press, the Congress and everyone else is just going to look the other way? What difference does it make that the bad actors will be breaking more laws next time than they broke (without consequence) last time?
This defeat does prevent the feds from institutionalizing some of the yawning problems that enabled the theft in 2020 and making them mandatory, though. So I suppose that's something. It just isn't much.

There is only one way to restore faith in elections, and that is transparency. If all data was available publicly, it could be crowdsourced to search for fraud. There are ways to do this without exposing the secrecy of the ballot (I could talk all day about my proposal), but I think we should be demanding that states make databases publicly available.

a) it's tough to do, constitutionally speaking the states are supposed to run their own elections. The only real way for the feds to stop fraud in a state is for congress to refuse to certify the results in a state
and
b) I don't trust the feds any more than I trust CA or whoever.

It's long been a rumor that Subway and other companies use fake meat to save money. Like substituting tilapia or whatever cheap fish they can find for Tuna, and god only knows what they're accused of substituting for chicken.
But, again, there is so little upside to Subway if that's true, and tuna especially is not very expensive. So idk.

IIRC the States can refuse to run their own State elections on years when the Feds are not running theirs.
This would make the Feds have to pay for their own Federal elections.
It would have an additional benefit from my point of view: it would raise turnout thus stopping small turnout elections in 'off' years passing school bonds and other tax bonds.

I suppose it's possible. But I think it's more likely that it is real tuna. DNA testing a product that has been cooked, mixed with mayo, spices, herbs, and whatever else, refrigerated, shipping to a store, put on bread with cheese or whatever else, taken back to the NYT times building, frozen, shipped to a lab, then thawed out and tested is a bit difficult. Hard to say if it's accurate or not.

And they quoted a franchise owner who made an excellent point who said more or less "Tuna is super cheap, why would subway corporate use fake tuna?"

Sure, they can try and make changes, but states can make additional changes to those changes and so forth back and forth. What Congress is forbidden to do by the Constitution is pass a law nullifying the Constitutional right of States Legislatures to make the election laws for their state. That's what HR-1 did at its essence. I doubt even this dumb ass SCOTUS would have allowed it to remain whole on its face.

5. Go to 1 until you control the entire system and have absolute power

I was at the protest outside the VP Mansion during the Bush-Gore 2000 mess. Freeper protest. Leftist across the street started calling me names and when I yelled back, he motioned the "come and get me then" gesture.
Didn't understand why until later - they pushed a 12 year old girl in the crosswalk to the pavement. She wasn't even part of the protests, just lived nearby, trying to get around it all. Our side rushed in and got in their face when suddenly, CNNs camera crew swooped in to try and get the "gotcha" clip.
They are trying to provoke an uprising, which means they have some counter already set up waiting for it.

There is no individual. Everything is group dominance. There may be sub-hierarchies within those, but they're waved away. Everything is collective. Oppression, guilt, whatever - it's all collective.
This is ham-handed and low-resolution and causes problems even within their group. This is why we keep seeing stick-saves like intersectionality. Intersectionality gets tricky because there is no effective limit to the subdivision - that is, the sub-hierarchies within the groups).
Logically (not that logic applies - it's just an oppressive social construct), the final end result of this a reduction to the individual. Every single person is differently oppressive and oppressed and it breaks down to a group of *one* when taken to its conclusion. The only way to work it would be on an individual basis, and the only way to manage a system that big is through approximation - that is, an open marketplace.
Of course, we'll all be murdered before it reaches the point of coming full-circle..

Now, note. The way it works. You don't need a Court order to suspend a License. All you need is an ATF order. The shop then has to sue to prove the ATF was incorrect to reinstate said license.
So, even with a fake allegation, they can take your license, then make you pay a lawyer to get it back... which will bankrupt many many small businesses that currently have Fed Firearm Licenses.

After 6-8 stings my body went into anaphylactic shock. I threw up and voided my bowels. And almost died.
We didn't know at time, but I am allergic to them. Got stung 4-5 times a few months later and symptoms were less.

I believe that was the Snap-chat message that the cheerleader in the SCOTUS 1st Amendment case (released this a.m.) sent to her buddies after she didn't make the varsity cheer team.
She was suspended after one of the girls showed it to her mom, who was one of the cheerleading coaches or advisors, or something. Then the girl got suspended from the cheer team for a year, and her parents did what all good Americans do -- they filed a lawsuit in federal court.

That's because there was a 8-1 decision today on a school's ability to discipline students for social media posts made not on school property. The majority said, no, the school can't do that. Thomas dissented due to how social media posts will be read on school property and he pointed out this decision is at odds with several other decisions.
The case involves a girl who didn't make varsity cheer squad and did a me level profane rant on Snapchat off of school property in which she said the above. It's not random.

What's weird is I've been stung by all kinds of insects and never had an issue.
Also, the 2nd round of wasp stings didn't put me down as hard, so I am wondering if the 1st set started a tolerance?

Court got it right in her case about the limits on schools being able to censor student rights outside of the school.
Quite a bit of precedent at the circuit level and Tinker v. Des Moines Schools requires school speech limits only are allowed when the speech disrupts the school's education mission. This means that mere criticism outside of school grounds and on a private communication, however vulgar, is not within the school's ability to punish as it did not disrupt the education of students. Considerable discussion of when in loco parentis applies and when it does not by the court. Fredericks (Bong Hits for Jesus) was decided on different ground as to whether the parade in question was a school function.
