The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“There’s a part of me that feels like this must all be a dream. There were a lot of things I liked about retail: I love talking to people and helping them, but the pandemic made me realize it was untenable.” Christina Noles

Quote II

“Afghanistan is run by the system [the Americans] built. That’s not acceptable at all. When they tell us that the Islamic system is going to rule the country, we are totally ready to lay down weapons and serve inside our Islamic system.”
”Taliban Commander Hamas

Quote III

“Someone’s cat or someone’s dog is a part of their family and should not be treated like a piece of furniture or their Honda Civic,” NY State Sen. James Skoufis

I really think the State of New York has more pressing issues than pet custody and support.

Quote IV

“The deification of George Floyd harms black people and America. George Floyd was a victim — of his drug addiction, self-destructive behavior, and Derek Chauvin’s misconduct."Jason Whitlock

We need more African-Americans to come forward with this view.

I'm tired of being called a racist when there is obvious racist stereotypes being foisted upon us by "Woke Big Biz". DUH! Fucking Double-Duh!

ATLANTA — IKEA is under fire after one of its stores listed fried chicken and watermelon on a menu for its employees in celebration of Juneteenth, and now the store manager is apologizing.

An Atlanta-based IKEA store sent an email to its employees about the celebration, telling them to watch for “a special menu” that would include fried chicken, watermelon, mac and cheese, potato salad, collard greens and candied yams, according to a picture of the email that was circulated on social media.

In real life I love my job. But, it's tough coming back after a 2 day weekend. A 3 day weekend? Oh I don't know.......

Kickstarter announced Tuesday that it plans to experiment with a four-day work week in an effort to offer workers more flexibility and additional time to spend on creative pursuits.

The big picture: Lots of tech companies are planning to offer flexibility around where employees work post-pandemic. Now some companies are also rethinking when people work.

Driving the news: Kickstarter plans next year to test a four-day work week with some or all of its employees, though details of that remain to be figured out, including whether all workers will have the same schedule.

Mud, Music & Mayhem. It's all fun and games until someone gets impaled.

A MASSIVE country music festival called the "Redneck Rave" descended into mayhem as one man's throat was slit, a woman was choked in a fight over a blanket and another man was impaled by a log.

Forty-eight people were charged, 14 arrested and numerous others were injured during the barmy five-day event that was attended by thousands in Mammoth Cave, Kentucky.

And I continue to be an isolated Misanthropic bastard here at Camp Misanthrope.

The Fabulous Mrs. Mis. Hum. is a fantastic cook. I've always enjoyed dabbling in the kitchen myself. And to be honest with you most of our meals are just as good as a restaurant's or even better. Throw in the next charge and I may never eat out again.

Restaurants Are Now Adding ‘Equity’ Charges to Customers’ Checks to Fight Oppression
Will making customers pay “equity” charges backfire? Probably.

here should we eat tomorrow?” my wife asked me excitedly as we sat on our deck Friday evening.

She had locked down a babysitter for Saturday night, and we were both eager for our first dinner date alone together in months.

“Broders',” I answered without hesitation.

Located in southwest Minneapolis, Broders Pasta Bar is a local gem. It has a great outdoor patio and the best Italian cuisine in the Twin Cities. We had not eaten there since the pandemic began.

My wife nodded and started to make a reservation on her phone. Then her jaw dropped.

“You’re not going to like this,” she said.

An Equity Charge?
She was right.

Never judge a book by its cover. But the eyes give it away.......

A former C.E. King High School teacher, Katrina Louisa Maxwell, is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child under 17 years of age, KPRC 2 learned Monday.

According to court records, Maxwell began to have a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male student during spring break in March and April. The district became aware of the relationship between Maxwell and the student when a district employee noticed Maxwell’s behavior with the student when she saw him with his girlfriend, according to court records. The employee also reported a second incident where Maxwell is accused of throwing a pair of scissors at the student’s head for sitting next to his girlfriend, according to court records.

Are you artsy? Looking for a new job? Perhaps you could become a tattoo artist.

Tiffany Garcia has tattooed thousands of people over her two-decade career, but she remains intrigued by the first-timers. Since the spring, more clients without any history of tattoos have arrived at Garcia’s studio in Torrance, California.

It isn’t just young people. Some are middle-aged or divorced, or recently lost someone dear to them. “It felt like people were trying to find themselves or fulfill a purpose with tattoos,” Garcia told me. “I’ve had clients say they never thought to get one in their life.”

Across the country, tattoo artists like Garcia say they are witnessing a boom in bookings, catalyzed by stretches of business inactivity during the pandemic. People have spent the past year declaring their desire to get inked, whether to memorialize the unprecedented circumstances they’ve lived through or to embrace a new vehicle for self-expression after months of social inhibition. The changes in workplace culture toward remote employment are also a boon: Fewer workers will have to contend with the corporate stigma against visible body art.

News bias, what is and what isn't given to the public. Just imagine if the Trump kids were as sleazy as Hunter Biden.

Did Joe inadvertently pay for Hunter Biden's wild night at Chateau Marmont?

t’s May 2018, and Robert Hunter Biden is trawling through his favorite Los Angeles escort sites. He orders “Yanna,” a 24-year-old Russian native from Emerald Fantasy Girls.

“Russian, Green Eyes, Thin Brunette, an elite courtesan,” is Yanna’s pitch, along with a menu of sex acts.

“Hi, My name is Rob. I’m staying at Chateau Marmont. Are you available now?”

Yanna goes to the cottage. He smokes crack, they drink vodka, have sex, make porn. He balances a line of M&Ms on his erect penis and takes photographs of it.

All of these messages, all of these pictures, are saved on Hunter Biden’s laptop, which he treats like a diary, storing every e-mail and text conversion, his financial records, and his copious selfies. A year later, Hunter will forget the laptop at a Delaware repair shop, and it will end up in the hands of the FBI — and The Post.

Hunter’s escapades with Yanna are a glimpse into the president’s son debauched lifestyle, but it also raises questions about how much his finances were mingled with Joe Biden. As detailed in Hunter’s own text messages, two mysterious men would show up soon after Yanna left, asking curious questions.

Ahhh, the road to hell and ruination is paved with good intentions. It's not nice to fuck around with Mother Nature.

According to BirdLife Tasmania, a local conservation organisation, introducing a small population of Tasmanian devils to Maria Island in east Tasmania in 2012 has had “a catastrophic impact on one or more bird species”.

The Tasmanian devil has been through a rough time, with their population having been pushed to the brink of extiction by the spread of a contagious form of facial cancer in the past 30 years. Multiple approaches have been taken to try and conserve the species, with this recent project coming at a deadly cost to birdlife.

The devils were placed on the island east of Tasmania in an effort to establish a reserve population geographically isolated from the disease called devil facial tumor (DFT). Before the project started, the tiny island was a haven for the smallest penguins on Earth (Eudyptula minor), a ground-dwelling and nesting penguin species.

Earlier this week The ONT covered the "smart thermostats" in Texas being controlled by the utility provider. Now this from Peloton. The lesson here is be very careful on the "smart shit" you buy.

If you paid more than $4,000 for Peloton’s Tread+, you’d expect that treadmill to be yours. And it is. Kind of. But the thing you should know about connected devices is that ownership isn’t as straightforward as simply buying a gadget.

Yesterday, Peloton notified Tread+ owners that they would no longer be able to use the “Just Run” feature without subscribing to Peloton’s $40 monthly membership. “Just Run” was a mode that let you use the Tread+ without Peloton’s classes, and, crucially, without paying for that subscription. The reason Peloton gave for the change was its Tread Lock software update, which added a 4-digit passcode to prevent unauthorized access. Tread Lock is part of Peloton’s voluntary recall for the Tread+, following numerous reports of injuries and in one case, a child’s death. The response on Twitter has not been kind. Some went as far as to call this ransom and extortion under the guise of improving consumer safety.

The ONT Musical Interlude

On this day: June 23, 2010 - Gregg Allman
62-year-old Gregg Allman underwent a successful liver transplant operation at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Allman had begun a series of treatments for Hepatitis C, but chronic damage of his liver led doctors to recommend a transplant. In a statement to the press, Allman said "I changed my ways years ago, but we can't turn back time. Every day is a gift." via thisdayinmusic.com

Love at first site? Two weeks to become Genius Award Winners.

-A South Carolina man told cops that his girlfriend of two weeks assaulted him during “an argument over making S’mores” early Saturday morning, according to an incident report.

Responding to an assault call from a Myrtle Beach residence, police interviewed the couple, both of whom said that they quarreled over the graham cracker/chocolate/marshmallow delicacy.

But while the 45-year-old woman said the dispute “never got physical and was verbal only,” her 54-year-old boyfriend alleged that she struck him during the S’mores dispute.

“The victim and offender have been dating for about 2 weeks and lived together the whole time,” a Myrtle Beach Police Department cop noted

She's gone, but not forgotten. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

LOGAN, Utah — Utah’s Logan Cemetery is home to a headstone which is gaining notoriety around the world thanks to photos posted online.

Aside from birth and death dates for Wade and Kathryn Andrews, the headstone displays a recipe for Kay’s Fudge.

“She really loved people,” Janice Johnson said of her mother Kathryn, who went by "Kay."

“She would write poetry, and she would take fudge whenever people got together,” Johnson said.

The headstone and its engravings offer just a hint at the incredible lives of Wade and Kay.

14 Hey everybody! Hey ONT! Hey MisHum!

MisHum, please be on the lookout for a shit-troller calling itself "breitbart-clone." He's an obvious NSA/FBI shit-troller playing the part of a super he-man rightie and says we're all sellouts to the deep state since we're not getting ourselves killed in gun battles at this very moment.

15 Don't know who Whitlock is, but which "misconduct" by Chauvin is he referring to? It wasn't demonstrated at the trial that he did anything wrong, the custom-fantasized eye-roller "cause of death" was clearly not something that any arresting officer can know, treat, or prevent, ever, and the persecution didn't even attempt to show any racial motive.

There are scads of stupid comments by regulars that nobody will leap to accuse of being paid operatives.

Just ban those whose idiocy might get ace in trouble - DON'T RESPOND TO THEM BEFORE THEY ARE REMOVED - and leave the bad fiction for the endless discussions of, well, bad fiction (mostly movies) that we endure here.

34 The fudge recipe would work best for someone who already knows how to make real fudge or fondant. Don't scrape the pan when pouring onto the marble slab (you can use a platter). Cool to lukewarm for finest texture. You could probably add the butter and vanilla when beating. Don't make it on a cloudy day. You can also knead the fudge after it "turns" for really, really creamy fudge.

A good demonstration of super-cooling and "heat of crystallization" for chemistry or physics class.

The pandemic made me love my retail job even more.

People tip better and companies are fighting for workers like never before.

I'm happy for people that wanted to leave the service/retail sector and did so. But it has left a vacuum that I'm all too happy to leverage too my advantage. If it raises the costs of your food and drinks, cool by me, it just adds to the bill from which my tips are percentage based.

64 Last year someone linked a long guerilla anti-discussion tactics instruction manual. It *is* a tool of the Left, they have been caught doing it, we've seen it in action here, and although it sounds silly at times to level it at everyone one thinks is "suspect", it's actually a decent forum defense mechanism to keep things relatively open and organic.

The purpose of these anti-discussion tactics is to disrupt, control, water down, change and eliminate certain thought.

One of the things we have talked about before is how little we have seen actual racism (at least white on black)- even for those of us in low minority areas where those types of attitudes usually flourish (lack of contact and realizing white folks can be just as big an asshole as any random black guy or gal.)

This allows them to furnish actual examples of 'racism' that people might actually come into contact with. That's why everything is racist now. They need that kind of division and lack of trust.

97 Well a tactical quibble and a felony charge are very different animals. And the tactical quibble is quite weak, to be generous. But now the mob has its lynching, and can refer to the absurd "murder" conviction, and does so constantly. And the dumbed down country just drools some more and puts another "We love puppies and stuff!" sign in their front yard, as their kids soak in racist poison at school.

Just for laughs, the conviction should be tossed on appeal due to the almost comical misconduct of the judge and jury. Probably won't be, America is now a Third World s**t-hole on select topics, new ones being added gradually.

114 But the thing you should know about connected devices is that ownership isn't as straightforward as simply buying a gadget.

Yep. Your multi-million dollar John Deer Combine isn't yours because John Deer can brick it if you don't use their exclusive maintenance service.

Sleep Number will brick your bed and it will deflate if you don't follow their strict rules, allow them the ability to monitor and sell your weight, breathing, pulse, sounds, temperature and movement - and pay the subscription and have constant internet access.

Or you can buy some expensive HUD "google glass" like sports wear (I did), where you can have GPS maps, performance metrics, camera, music and other features on a HUD on sunglasses. That is until the company sold out to Intel and then Intel dropped the product and all support, making the device, and the app dead.

You know for a fact that EV cars will be the exact same way, subscription to the manufacturer and let them and the government remotely manage your vehicle and decide how and when you can charge and drive.

I had friends and family that deserved to be ditched over that, but 20 years out?... The whole thing is a distant memory, a small valley in a graph littered with peaks and valleys since then. I would be full of regret today if I had cut them loose over Bush-Gore 20 years ago.

So I would say in 20 years you will remember all this like that bad date you had back in high school. You might even wish you had spent your time and energy collecting stamps or bird watching instead LOL there is no way to know how relevant any of this will be.

Contrast that with 20 years lost with friends and family, over something your future self will find to be much less significant. I would try to find a way around it, or at least give them a warning - no religion no politics or I'm gone.

When they examined the cancer cells their genome or whatever the term is, wasn't native to the wild dogs but actually came from an extinct ancestor. So the cancer is kind of a living fossil of an extinct dog.

Sure. Like child abuse, alcoholism, affairs. And for some people that includes politics. For me it doesn't.

I'm a child of two alcoholics, which was pure hell. But I maintained my relationship with both parents (which may be why I have a higher tolerance re politics). Does that mean that ever child of alcoholics should do the same? Of course not.

And that's my point. A lot of it depends on the individual, how much they value the relationship, how much BS than can put up, etc. There is no one-size fits all answer to this.

242 I'd be interested to see the correlation between tip and cute/nubile/hot scale, regardless of race.

Generally, I tend to go to places where I know the service and food are both good. Get to know the manager. When the server or serving team do their jobs, it is best to treat them friendly, professionally and as if they are family.

It is extremely rare to get bad service. I'm also very generous with tips, and base it on things like never letting my glass get empty (it helps to not come in during peak hours).

Unfortunately, some of the chains will process their customers like cattle, grouping people in tight clusters within relatively empty rooms. At an Outback, in a near empty restaurant, they placed a family with an extremely loud child right behind us and I had the pleasure of having the kid stand up on in the booth and scream directly into my ear.

Never going back.

I disagree. It was the most politically divisive event we had experienced. Brother and sisters weren't talking to each other. And if they promoted the bs that the Brooks Brothers Riot was an insurrection, they were cast out of your life.

"You want to compare this to 1861, I'm listening and there is your comparison to how families and friends had to deal with real differences."

The start of the Civil War, when families were literally shooting at each other? Now who is being silly?

But hey, if you feel that's where we are at and you want to sever ties with friends and family who you feel have enabled, I understand completely. You know what is best for your individual situation. There is not a right or wrong answer on how to best deal with this.

I've long thought that Dickie Betts was undervalued in terms of his contribution to the band. I think that most people think of it as a blues band and it certainly did blues very well but Dicke introduced lots of country and jazz influences that seem to have gone un recognized by the general public. His instrumentals were a bold contribution to a rock genre dominated by lyrical songs.

389 Allman Brothers were the Jazz Messengers of Rock. Not just the original members but Chuck Leavell, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks (drummer's nephew) and many others cut their teeth with that band. Sadly, I think Dickie and Jaimoe are the only originals left.

Original lineup was organ, slide guitar, second guitar (sometime rhythm sometimes harmony sometimes lead), bass, and two drummers. Then they added Levaell on piano. In some ways they got better after Duane and Berry died.

In Basic, we had a junior and senior drill sergeant. When speaking to a sergeant, you had to begin and end each sentence with "sergeant". One day - true story - SFC Torres said to me "who told you to" whatever I had done. It was the platoon junior sergeant (I was not in trouble), so I responded, naturally: "Sergeant, Sergeant Sargent, Sergeant". We just looked at each other and then he said "Get the hell out of my office."

392 So Peter Jackson's Beatles documentary is now a six hour miniseries.

When you read the whole thing to the bottom you will understand why people like me don't give a flying fuck about the Beatles. They were pretty good and very influential but what kind of retarded sonovabitch pays a thousand bucks for a Beatles collection with fucking *garden gnomes*?!?

Pure cult of personality.

399 Robert, I admit I'm a bit disappointed that Get Back has "evolved" into a looong miniseries. Beatles have already got their Anthology from the 90s, now this.

Hopefully the longer length means that most of the footage in Michael Lindsay-Hogg's 1970 film Let It Be is still there, i.e. it's not a complete "happy times" Beatles doc. At the same time, the new longer length screams "McCartney's throwing his weight around" to me.

Maybe I'm Amazed isn't Wings, it's 100% Paul McCartney. He made a point of recording his first solo album *all by himself,* so that he could have the final say on every decision and not have to rely on anyone else.

According to legend, Paul was *really* embittered for a couple years right after the breakup. Another reason why all the other members of Wings were pretty much just employees; Paul did not want anyone even thinking of arguing with him in the studio anymore.

Actually, Harrison sang "Do you Want to Know a Secret" - it went to number 2 on the US billboard charts the year it came out. Lennon gave it to George because: "It only had three chords and he couldn't sing" - it out paced every song Lennon solo'd that year - yeah, Lennon was your basic idiot.

Norwegian health agency has concluded that that the mRNA vaccines increase the risk of death in the elderly. This was the very group that was supposed to be the most at risk from covid, mind you.

Tucker mentioned it, and I'm going to hunt this down.

I remember a critique of the wham-bam-thank-you ma'am trials, saying they did not enough have enough population amongst the elderly and high risk to make any statistically significant conclusions. The only conclusions were for the general population.

Paul played bass and Lennon...well, Lennon just banged his guitar like a monkey in a circus, basically. Lennon ruled the Beatles by sheer will, not talent.

Paul and George were the musicians and Ringo, who replaced the better drummer Pete Best because George couldn't stand Pete, was a passable drummer with a lot of experience. He came on board about a week before they recorded their first local English album - making Pete the most unluckiest guy in the world, really.

One of the few real unfair things that Western women have to complain about is that women singers have to be at least quirky cute and really have to be great to get anywhere if they aren't "hot". If she was even as good looking as Carole King she would have been remembered like Freddie Mercury or Roy Orbison or Ann Wilson.

Thank you for your dogged determination in pursuing the information involving the adverse side-effects of the vaccines and sharing the information here.

It seems the rush to promote the vaccine serves as sort of a nullifying component in downplaying the potential negative side effects.

If normal studies had been done, we might be able to determine whether the risk is significant or insignificant, statistically speaking.

But when you run phase 3 trials of the vaccines with massive numbers of participants, all concerning studies quickly gets dismissed with the "But 10 million doses have been given" talking point.

One artist who IMHO wasn't bad looking, always petite, popular and/but never became *huge,* was Laura Nyro. (David Geffen was her agent, btw.)

I wonder if a lot of promotion has to do with how much the singer him/herself is willing to do. I've read Nyro, for instance, didn't really enjoy performing live and rarely did TV appearances. I imagine that affected her popularity somewhat (as well as the fact that she made enough money by 1970 to retire quite early).

Also, funny thing about Mama Cass is that I believe her profile was growing in the early 1970s when she died; she was making regular appearances as a comic actor on the Carol Burnett show, believe it or not.

556 Consider the vaccine discussion from a different angle.

If a city's water supply was considered safe and all of a sudden a few people turned up sick. And then a few more. And then a few died. And then studies started being done showing that there was something in the water that made those particular people sick and may have lead to their death.

How many individuals would it take to fall ill before the city found itself under EPA investigation and the lawyers began feasting on the city? And would the local news be running ads saying "Smart people drink the water. Responsible people drink the water". And would doctors be saying "the vast majority of people drinking the water do just fine, save for a few unpleasant bouts of diarrhea and cramping"?

And would public health officials be saying "We highly encourage people to drink more of the water, it's fine, don't worry about the few that got sick"?

And they had more money cause they split the Beatles songwriting money mostly.

Based on that defector shit I've been going about, and the other stuff, this is basically what I think happened.

Chicoms were fucking around with bioweapon shit, using our own expertise. The spike protein was their wepaon component, something to optimize the ability of viruses to infect human cells (of the targeted class, such as respiratory cells). They were playing around with it, attaching it to various bat viruses and seeing how well it worked.

They had an Ooopsie in August of 2019, and let it loose. They tried to contain it initially.

586 And one final thought about the vaccines.

Some have surmised that the majority of mRNA will be taken up in the blood vessels, thus resulting in the cells in the lining of the blood vessels to produce spike proteins, which might result in clotting issues and inflammation of the heart.

When the first rollout is given to the elderly, that are more prone to natural risks of stroke, heart disease and heart attack, how do you differentiate between what may have been attributable to the administration of the vaccine and the already naturally high risk factors of those potential maladies?

Is it possible that, unlike the reporting of COVID deaths in which strokes and such were chalked up to COVID, that the inverse will occur? Which is to say that deaths that may be attributable to the vaccine are instead chalked up to the natural increased incidence of stroke and heart attack in the elderly?

So they intentionally let it spread. It was spreading out in the world by no later than Oct 2019, and the Chicoms were doing it on purpose. At some point, it would become obvious this was some new virus going around.

There plan was to let it spread as much as possible, and downplay any fears so as to let it spread. But once it became known, then they go to Fear mode. Remember all those videos out of Wuhan showing them welding people inside buildings, people dropping in the streets and all that?

Chicom fear propaganda. Now use their intel assets to further that fear. Remember those ridiculous models showing we're all gonna die early on.

Strands of messenger RNA in a special package to get into your cells. Normally your immune system would recognize such molecules in your circulation as foreign and attack them.

But they put it inside some little capsule that allows it to get inside certain cells. Once inside, it goes to your ribosomes and causes those cells to produce the spike protein of the Covid virus. A slightly modified form of that spike protein.

Now, your cells then express that spike protein on their surfaces, your immune system reacts to that, producing anti-bodies against the spike protein. Now, if infected by the actual Covid virus, you know have antibodies to bind and attack the Covid virus.

And that's how the mRNA vaccines work. This technology has never been approved for use in humans before. It's not "approved" now, just emergency authorized.

The other vaccines use an adenovirus vector to get in your cells. This is a DNA viruses. It infects your cells like a virus does, and again, causes your cells to make spike protein, which they present and your immune system responds and makes the spike protein antibodies.

In this approach, the vaccine contains an actual viruses which infects you (but is supposed to be harmless) and makes you make spike protein.

mRNA does it by hijacking ribosomes directly. Adenovirus does it by actually using a vector virus to do the highjacking.

A week or so later she's back at the hotel for another call and sees the same maid.

"So, how was the big loverboy?"

"Oh, he was wonderful. And he had this really cool tattoo... Little Rock Arkansas Junior Chamber of Commerce, Executive Vice President."

P.S. how do you get a tattoo on your "testicle"? Scrotum, yes. Testicle? Nah. It's like the women who supposedly have their "vaginas" pierced. Internal organs and external organs: not the same thing.
