CBC Turns Off Facebook Comments To Protect "Fragile" Journalists' Mental Health And "Protect Free Speech" In a move that can only be described as the pinnacle of embracing snowflake culture, the CBC has said this week it is going to close comments on all of its news links and video posts to Facebook pages to protect the mental health of its journalists. Journalists - who used to be rugged and used to deal with varying opinions as part of the job description - are "fragile" and "in need of attention", like many other Canadians post-pandemic, the CBC wrote last week. Increasingly, they are facing "vitriol and harassment" for doing their jobs, the report notes. "For journalists, platforms like Twitter can be a great way to find sources and promote their work, but also a cesspool of hatred. Increasingly, reporters are also physically attacked," Andre Picard told CBC. When is enough, enough? Evanston commemorated the abolition of slavery with a parade and community celebration on Juneteenth — June 19, the day on which the abolition of slavery is annually celebrated — complete with art, music, and food at a local park. There will also be a Gay Pride parade next Saturday, June 26. A Florida man faces felony charges for the supposed crime of purposefully performing a burnout on a taxpayer-funded gay pride street mural in Delray Beach last Monday. While reportedly participating in a birthday rally for former President Donald Trump, Florida resident Alexander Jerich, 20, drove his pickup truck over the mural and then performed a burnout. A burnout is a maneuver in which a driver keeps their car stationary but spins the wheels, causing their vehicle’s tires to produce smoke from the friction of the rubber spinning on pavement. In this case, Jerich’s burnout also created a black streak that marred the mural. The evidence against Jerich includes both the video above and eyewitness reports. “According to the arrest report, a witness told police that particular intersection happened to be along the parade route for Trump supporters. The witness said he was two cars in front of the suspect when he heard another man yell something like, ‘Adam, tear up that gay intersection,'” local station WTVX reported. “The witness described the driver of the Chevy pickup truck as a man in his twenties with blonde shoulder-length hair with curls. The witness said the truck had a blue Trump flag on the tailgate.” Using the video footage above, authorities were able to trace Jerich by his license plate number, after which they reportedly spoke with him and he then voluntarily turned himself in. But local left-wing activists were not satisfied. They began demanding that local Republicans apologize for Jerich’s actions. Big Tech just got bigger. Amazon comes for Netflix’s throne with $8.45 billion MGM purchase The ruthless war between the world’s leading video-on-demand companies has reached a climax The ruthless war between the world’s leading video-on-demand companies reached a climax when the Amazon acquired the legendary Hollywood studio MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayer) in a deal worth US$8.45 billion. The sale of MGM on May 26 followed more than six months of negotiations. The American studio known for its roaring lion had been weakened by major financial difficulties before the pandemic. The prolonged closure of movie theatres was the final nail in its coffin. Although the MGM studio had a low market value (estimated at only US$5.5 billion a few months ago), several giants of the digital industry, including Apple, were interested in buying it. But it was Amazon that won the bid and made history by becoming the first player in the video streaming industry to acquire a major Hollywood studio. In 2017, we first wrote about the Chinese startup Unitree Robotics, which had the goal of “making legged robots as popular and affordable as smartphones and drones.” Relative to the cost of other quadrupedal robots (like Boston Dynamics’ $74,000 Spot), Unitree’s quadrupeds are very affordable, with their A1 costing under $10,000 when it became available in 2020. This hasn’t quite reached the point of consumer electronics that Unitree is aiming for, but they’ve just gotten a lot closer: now available is the Unitree Go1, a totally decent looking small size quadruped that can be yours for an astonishingly low $2700. Juneteenth is a TEXAS holiday. I'm sick of non-Texans trying to appropriate it. Do you see me going around claiming Bastille Day is my holiday because I went to France once? If you want to celebrate the Emancipation Proclamation, do it on a day that makes sense, like the day it was signed or something.

USS Momsen, that's the destroyer we saw coming into port this afternoon.
Just next to North Island, along the north side parallel to the main channel, there are concrete platforms every 300 yards or so. Some have been connected to land, and are used as fishing piers. You can see them easily from Harbor Island or Shelter Island, across the bay. They were installed, quickly, after Pearl Harbor, as moorings, so that capital ships could be much closer to the harbor exit, in case of attack. The USS Bunker Hill survivor of multiple kamikaze attacks at Okinawa, was tied up to a few of these moorings for years during my yute. She was used as a lab/test-bed for the Navy electronics lab. What's really hilarious about the whole thing is that people are getting the impression June 19 marked the de facto end of slavery, which it didn't. Slavery was still legal in Kentucky and Delaware, and remained so until the 13th Amendment was ratified that December; up to that time, there were still actual slaves in both those states (and due to the details of "gradual emancipation," possibly in New Jersey as well). "Juneteenth" didn't do a thing for any of them. But hey, let's not let the historical facts get in the way of some cheap virtue-signaling, amirite? Who knew that the former United States would have two federal holidays that exclusively honor "blacks" and no other ethnicity, then tell us that "blacks" are the most oppressed. I gotta say, getting percocet for the first time made me realize some of what motivated junkies.
What a change to have no pain and no levels of negativity. To be content and generally pleased but not excessively elated or jumping around. It was quite an experience. Fortunately it was not too far off from my normal state that I mostly experienced. Sure there were ups and downs but I knew that daily feeling like that was a danger and that I could easily get trapped. So when my injury was healed I stopped taking them. Now that I'm older and at a point where time may be short I wish I could start those back up because NOW I don't have as many up/good days and I have many legitimate pains from my arthritis and it's difficult to get motivated when you know you will hurt during what you're doing and after so things tend to get put off. BTW that is what I think happens to hoarders. They just don't care anymore and it's a lot of trouble and money to dispose of the trash. Posted by: jakee308 at June 20, 2021 10:44 PM (++Sf8) 217

According to Green in Famous Bombers of the Second World War only two Fw 200s were specifically converted to being VIP transports.
Werke Nr 137 was Fw 200C-4/U1 and Wr Nr 138 was Fw 200C-4/U2. Biggest external difference is an abbreviated bombardier's gondola. Wr Nr 137 could seat 11 while Wr Nr 138 accommodated 14. Last Condor flight was one of the original Lufthansa Condors hastily loaded with people and luggage fleeing Berlin on 21 April 1945. Plane took off from Munich destination Barcelona and vanished. My Dad was there but not there in my life. Didn't like hanging around us kids.
My mother ruled the roost and sadly she was a grade A abuser. And I mean all of it.She was an emotional abuser and a physical abuser. She would disguise it as punishment for some wrong doing but somehow a lot of stuff became instantly wrong when she was in the mood. I don't know if Dad knew what she did cause she never punished us when he was home or around. (as far as I can remember). And she would emotionally abuse us also. I never twigged to how much till I got older and she pulled some stuff once too often and I caught her in lies. Lies meant to make me feel bad or dumb. So cherish your parents if they treated you well but never forget that that was special as there are too many parents that either ignore their children or abuse them or just don't care. Cause you're paying it off in inflated dollars. And if it's saleable and the market is good you can sell it and pocket the cash while paying inflated dollars to the loaner. It's tricky timing tho and only works for goods with a demand during inflation times. And inflation times means you sell it at inflation prices and the bottom my drop out of the economy. Because of the Edith Piaf. Like the dreamworld of Inception, every single second of a Piaf song feels like ten million years of Hell. Thanks! Didn't know about this project. Don't read German unfortunately but poking around it looks like they might hold more than one airframe maybe...The 200 was built very light as it was made to be a long range airliner and designed in the late 30s when Germany had a real shortage of powerful engines. The maritime use was an improvisation and the airframe didn't hold up to the stress very well. But it worked ok in the early war days when there wasn't much enemy air opposition out at sea. My Dad wasn't around about a third to half of some important years. Navy submariners aren't especially expected to be around home, not when their job is westpac at the peak of the cold war.
When he was around, he put a lot of his energy into my already getting twisted, older brother. Futility, but he tried. Brother ended up going hellbent into a life of crime, and Dad ended up moving from California to Florida when I was just going from ninth grade to tenth. I didn't start to get close to my Dad, until I was in my mid twenties, and it took really a full decade for him and I to develop a constructive relationship. Mom passed when I was nineteen, and she was fifty four. And my criminal brother was just sentenced in May, to a new forty month term for his latest set of felonies, in Minnesota. I have family on the west coast, east coast, and the frozen, high northwest. I'm quite all right having thousand mile buffers between them and me here, in Texas. I can no longer find a good version, original, of the Radio Moscow announcement, by Yuri Levitan, the most famous radio voice of the USSR at the time, on June 22. There are some obviously re-recorded versions.
This is a partial recording, marred a bit at the end by the stupid animation audio. https://tinyurl.com/kd53cpew In the original, as far as I can tell, Levitan uses the term "great patriotic war", which became the Soviet term for WWII. This is about the dreaded "delta variant" (Indian, but can't say that because woke). Delta is gonna kill us all. You can see they break down unvaccinated vs vaccinated. Look at the death rate. You will see the total delta fatality rate is 0.12%. Less than seasonal flu. But look at the unvaccinated vs vaccinated fatality rates. Unvaxxed is 0.096%. Vaccinated is 0.64%, call it 6 times higher. Posted by: publius, Rascally Rapscallion of a Poperin Pear at June 20, 2021 11:46 PM (Mzdiz) 304

Antibody Disease Enhancement. The forms vary but think of it as a glitch with the antibodies produced by the immune system. These "binding only" antibodies do not neutralize the pathogen, but in fact make it worse, increasing it's ability to infect the host. Coronaviruses are known to be bad about this effect. Make antibodies against one, and then a slight variant comes along, and the antibodies make it worse. There are other pathogens that have this effect. Dengue fever being one, IIRC. He was going to stand up and present an argument to these "titans" that he idolized, and one the Justices was going to shoot it down and make him look foolish... it didn't matter, this was his dream come true. Anyways, we had to buy him his first nice suit. He worked 60-80 hours a week so that my brother and I could live in the Highland Park School District. He hadn't bought new clothes in a decade. Another one. This is a bombshell paper on Ivermectin. It works: https://www.nature.com/articles /s41429-021-00430-5 This goes through the method of action of Ivermectin against Covid-19. Ivermectin has been suppressed by the medical-scientific-public health industrial complex. There's a lot of politics, Orange Mad Bad involved in this crime against humanity level suppression of effective treatment, but the role of greed by Pharma can't be minimized. The clinical studies done on Ivermectin were launched by doctors themselves, not Pharma. Pharma wanted nothing to do with it. Why? These drugs are off-patent, and no big money is to be made. A Cochrane-style review (this is considered the best analysis) of ivermectin against Covid-19: https://tinyurl.com/3msyr4rj Moderate-certainty evidence finds that large reductions in COVID-19 deaths are possible using ivermectin. Using ivermectin early in the clinical course may reduce numbers progressing to severe disease. Fatigue though, lasted a full week. We're talking not enough strength to stand up and take a shower. Or sit in a chair and watch TV. I think without the HCQ, Ivermectin, Zpak and vitamin cocktails, I would not be typing this, right now. CDC has reverses advices repeatedly, all through 2020. I have this to say regarding flag burning.
Burning our flag is in NO WAY an expression of free speech. It is wilful, and malicious desecration of our national symbol, and by extension a denial of our nation and it's precepts. I will entertain no argument otherwise, despite the mewlings of the blackrobed shitsplats who insist it is. You attempt to burn MY flag in my presence and that is a guarantee of some hospital time and I'm perfectly willing to accept the consequences. Publius. Frankly? HCQ as a prophylactic would've been enough, with Ivermectin slammed onto newly infected patients at the first positive result.
HCQ worldwide, is proven to prevent the damn thing from getting traction in the first place, and Ivermectin keeps it from shifting out of First Gear, once engaged. Jim Sunk New Dawn Galveston, TX Posted by: Jim at June 21, 2021 01:22 AM (QzJWU) 417

Posted by: SFGoth at June 21, 2021 01:33 AM (KAi1n) And I'm gonna defend that decision. When you start blocking ANY free speech, as a gubmint prerogative, you have joined the 'free speech is bad' crowd. I've seen a lot of free speech, including the Nazi parade in Skokie (a Jewish dominated community), and I still support the Nazis' right to parade there. I lived in Chicagoland when that happened. Their message is/was evil, but so is declaring Hunter Biden as a forbidden topic to the press. And the whole 10% for the Big Guy stuff. Suppressing free speech, including burning our flag, is inherently wrong. And if you punch a flag burner in the mouth, well, that is simple assault. A misdemeanor. Oopsie. My bad. "for those that burn the flag, it means nothing."
True, I don't think I've ever seen a Leftist burn the American flag in remorse. They always have a smug look. Posted by: Hoyt's Turkish Troll Provocateur at June 21, 2021 05:54 AM (83lwH) 452
"Suppressing free speech, including burning our flag, is inherently wrong"
I used to agree with that: freedom of expression must include the right of the people to burn the symbols of their nation as a form of protest. I changed my mind once I saw them - these are not Americans, they certainly don't love America. These are Marxists, they want to destroy America, not protest some policy. And they have denied my freedom of speech for at least the last decade. Light em up. "Is there hope around the corner for drug addiction that does not respond to normal treatment?"
Not a 'feel good' story at all. Treating addiction as a disease is one of the reasons we see increased addiction. The National Institute of Health (if memory serves) came up with the nonsense of "chronically relapsing brain disease" to justify increased funding.
