New Study: Covid Was Probably In the US in 2019

Update: Zho Bai-Den's press conference, in progress.

John Sexton at Hot Air reports on covid's real first appearance in the states.

This was while the Red Chinese government was still covering up the disease they created and released from the lab.

The previous CDC conclusion was that the first cases of covid in the US were detected in January 2020.

But a new study finds that the disease had already been spread here by December 2019.

From the NYT:

A study published on Tuesday offers new evidence: Based on an analysis of blood tests, scientists identified seven people in five states who may have been infected well before the first confirmed cases in those states. The results suggest that the virus may have been circulating in Illinois, for example, as early as Dec. 24, 2019, although the first case in that state was confirmed a month later.

In the study, published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, Dr. Althoff and her colleagues analyzed blood samples from more than 24,000 people. They found nine people who had donated blood between Jan. 2 and March 18 of last year who appeared to have antibodies to the coronavirus.

Seven of the samples came from blood donated before the date of the first diagnosis in their states -- Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Mississippi and Massachusetts.

The study is pretty rigorous, as you'll see at the link. Early PCR tests produced a lot of false positives, but the study here only took as true positives samples that showed covid antibodies twice.

While China's Official Communist Story is that there were no covid cases in China until December 8, 2019, Sexton notes that there have been prior news reports of outbreaks as early as November.

And remember: The Wuhan lab appears to have been evacuated in October.

And Wuhan researchers and their family members are reported by intelligence to have been hit with covid-like symptoms in October.

China is lying about when covid hit, because they want to create the maximum distance between covid and the emergency evacuation of the lab and the first reports of covid-like symptoms among its researchers.

Again, this is during the period when China was insisting that human-to-human transmission was impossible -- even though China knew damn well it was possible, as they were welding covid-infected people inside their apartments to keep them from spreading it.

Below, two videos. The first is an interview with Dr. Redfern, former head of the CDC, who has been saying, forever, that this virus might have escaped from the Wuhan lab.

Note he says that China reported the virus was "SARS-like." SARS-like viruses have low incidences of asymptomatic transmission, but covid has a high incidence of asymptomatic transmission.

It cost us lives and further spread trusting China on this point. Had we known covid was nothing like SARS, we could have contained it better.

I'm not sure if he's saying China was incompetent or deliberately deceptive on this point.

The second clip is of Tucker Carlson, interviewing Sharri Markson, the Sky News Australia reporter who revealed that, despite the dishonest denials of Peter Daszak, live bats were in fact experimented on at Wuhan.

She notes that most of what China claimed about the virus was "disinformation."

Again, there is only one reason to deny the truth so completely: Because China knows damn well it released a plague upon the world, and is lying about every single fact that would suggest their creation of the virus. From when it started, to how it is transmitted, to which bat coronavirus strain covid-19 is a mutation of, to whether or not they were running viruses through live bats to mutate them further.

"Consciousness of guilt" -- evidence that a suspect has a guilty mind, such as participating in a cover-up of a crime, or lying about one's alibi -- is perfectly valid evidence in US courts to prove the guilt of a suspect.

China is screaming out its guilty mind.

And yet, incredibly, Biden wants the W.H.O., the corrupt, compromised organization that essentially works for China, and already conducted a sham cover-up "investigation" of the Wuhan lab to "investigate" Wuhan for a second time.

The United States and its allies are pinning their hopes for a second COVID-19 origins investigation in China on the World Health Organization, despite the WHO-China joint study team’s visit to Wuhan earlier this year that essentially dismissed the lab leak hypothesis being widely considered a failure.

The Trump and Biden administrations cast doubt on the joint study by Chinese government-linked scientists and international scientists organized under the auspices of the WHO that was conducted in China early this year. The WHO-China report said a lab leak was "extremely unlikely" and that a jump from animals to humans was most likely. Meeting minutes from discussions between Wuhan lab scientists and the WHO-China team reveal lab leak concerns were referred to as "conspiracy theories."

Why would Biden do that? Why would he entrust the investigation into Wuhan to the W.H.O. a second time, after it had already either incompetently botched the first investigation, or, more likely, competently rigged it to cover up for China?

Unless he, too, had a personal interest in covering up for China?

Biden's mind -- what's left of it, anyway -- is also shouting out its guilt.

20 Quick question: If it proves true covid was a deliberate attack on the United States, using a fruit of Tony Fauci's private bioweapons program, does Biden:
[ ] Endorse the impeachment of Donald Trump
[ ] Ask China to explain why we have such trouble getting auto chips
[ ] Go back to sleep

26 This is almost certain, even if no direct evidence could be found. We know it hit China earlier than they indicated. The Italians found SARS-CoV-2 in their sewage system as far back as November, IIRC. It's virtually impossible, given what we now know about the timeline, that it was here as late as January.

Add in to that the oddly severe - and oddly early - flu season that hit at the end of 2019 (you know, before COVID was known and when the old rules in place, where all untested ILIs are just marked as "flu") and the picture becomes clearer. Rigorous research and testing makes the case stronger, of course, but the case ain't exactly weak without it, just based on the circumstantial evidence.

27 I remain at least 95% certain that me, my wife and son had it in late February, early March of 2020, right when everything started blowing up.

Low grade fever, achy body, dry cough. Don't remember if I lost my sense of taste, because I ate very little. Lasted a few days.

I almost never get sick. Last cold I had was in the summer of 2016. That one was worse.

28 Where does the "high incidence of asymptomatic spread" come from? I've seen a whole lot of conflicting information on that. I can't judge by myself, as all of the (3 known) exposures I had to people who eventually tested positive just reinforced my belief that I already had it, as neither I nor mine ever got sick. I haven't heard of anyone passing it even to family members without symptoms.

33 I recall looking at a John Hopkins piece in the early days, late February or so I think where they had the current data and hindcasted it sometimes into 2019. They also assumed that the number of infected was likely much higher than the number of reported cases(which is normal) which would've lead to lower estimates of how lethal it was.

I want to see a study regarding how many fibers are shed and inhaled into the lungs from the crappy little disposable blue masks so many people (and children) were required to wear for hours every day.

I'm betting we see a bunch of lung problems before too long, and it will be such a mystery.

Yeah and while PCR strongly appears to be reliable, the levels of doubling they are doing increases the likelihood of failure greatly every time past a certain point. And they're several iterations beyond that point in most of the results we've seen.

I think that we are going to see a day in the near future when DNA testing as being done now is not nearly as reliable and foolproof as they initially believed.

Remember a couple years ago they discovered that a lot of the standard tests for accelerants in arson cases were not exactly as reliable as initially believed?

Of course they did. There's a reason why when I got my OSHA -approved training for doing lead paint remediation and whatnot back in the day (I worked for a painter when I was younger), they were big on changing out masks (or filters, depending on what you were doing) during the day, because durrr your breath is warm and humid, and trapped against a mask or respirator, which is the perfect conditions for bacteria to grow.

Which is not the end of the world for a healthy young person, but I doubt it's good news for older people wearing masks all day.

124 I don't believe it can be called a plague. Yes people died but no more than would be usual for a bad flu year. (at least what I remember of the chart I saw).

It's a disease that is highly contagious (maybe) but it's a crapshoot if you will die from it. Just like the flu. Most people don't die from the flu.

What did happen is that the media on someone's go ahead ramped up the numbers so as to incite fear and demand that Trump do something and of course when nothing helped (because no one could stop a virus instantly) they then screamed abou that.

The CDC seeing a good thing for them to claim they're fighting it they sent out instructions on how to report a covid death. And other stuff that if followed would've made the spread a bit less deadly.

The Dems didn't realize how deadly it could be until they already had issued orders and now they were stuck with them.

Tom Wolf has yet to have any attention paid for his role in the murder of 5000 elderly in PA. And Rachel What's his name is now Health Secretary. He who moved his own mother out of an LTC and put into a hotel.

And NONE of them have yet to pay any price.

In the civil context, spoliation of evidence (as was done at the Wuhan lab) entitles the adverse party to either an "adverse inference" in which the jury is instructed that it may conclude that the destroyed evidence was probative of the non-destroying party's claims, or in extreme cases entry of judgment against the party which spoiled evidence.

Posted by: Colorado Alex in Exile at June 16, 2021 12:49 PM (jOcSX)

No, but if we accept that the Chinese are lying about the origins, the number of deaths, the date this all started, etc., can't it also be possible that the Chinese (theoretically) never actually had an outbreak? And that the first "real" outbreak was actually in Europe or the US or wherever?

I mean, that would almost definitely mean it was purposefully introduced and not a "lab leak" model.

I'm not saying I 100% believe that, but there's something incredibly fishy about the fact that China never had a covid outbreak as far as any outside observers can tell. Covid was allegedly running rampant, then they had Chinese New Years (where the entire country shuts down and everyone travels), then all of the factories re-opened after new years, like normal and China seemed to never have any major lockdowns or issues (outside of Wuhan.) Weird, no?

If they had any other factor that might contribute to their death but they had covid, it was marked as a covid death.

Just like obese people when they die are marked as having died from obesity and not from any other cause. Which obesity may be a factor but it's usually not an outright cause of death.

Like any death that involves the lungs is labeled from smoking if the person smoked at all ever in their life.

Eh, it's probably in the top ten or so depending on how you're measuring. But, of course, that's not why he's saying it.

------

Yeah, "Great Powers" isn't a listicle. It denotes countries or federations that are market-makers in geopolitics. A country whose wealth can buy nations and whose military makes them tremble. Russia hasn't been that for more than a generation, and for the first time in many of them.

Not saying that can't change, but as of today, they're nobody's great power.

It's all bullshit based on estimates anyways.

I mean think about it: how do you categorize deaths? Guy comes in after a motor cycle accident, he's all mangled up but still barely alive. He dies on the operating table. Did he die of blunt force trauma? Blood loss? Cardiac arrest? How literal do you want to be? Because if you're going to be super literal, we measure death as when there is no pulse, so that means EVERYONE dies of cardiac arrest.

So like... idk, if I've learned anything throughout this whole covid ordeal, it's that anyone can massage the numbers to say whatever they want.

262 I'm not saying I 100% believe that, but there's something incredibly fishy about the fact that China never had a covid outbreak as far as any outside observers can tell. Covid was allegedly running rampant, then they had Chinese New Years (where the entire country shuts down and everyone travels), then all of the factories re-opened after new years, like normal and China seemed to never have any major lockdowns or issues (outside of Wuhan.) Weird, no?
Posted by: Harry Paratestes at June 16, 2021 12:56 PM (UPoLF)

Who knows what was going on. After news travels through the Chinese filter, our media filters it some more. I remember right around March we'd see videos of people being welded into their apartments, signs on doors warning to not break the seals, people being snatched off the street and thrown into tiny boxes, and of course the satellite shots showing what appeared to be crematoriums running full bore 24/7 chugging tons and tons of smoke into the atmosphere.

All covid? This could also be what they call Wednesday in the CCP.

Or were they just putting on a big show for us?

Like, sure, people can and do find ways to use VPN's to circumvent the Great Firewall of China. I know I have when I was in the country.

But China does have some pretttty tight control over what can get posted on Weibo or Wechat, and they can take it down in seconds. So it would be a bit difficult to get videos that the Chinese govt didnt want the world to see out to the rest of the world.

It's doable, of course, but ... what? We're supposed to think that these people doing the recording didn't care what the repercussions would be for recording it, then figured out how to get around the firewall, then posted them online to the extreme embarrassment of the govt? I would assume people doing that would be disappeared, no?

This person has zero clinical background. This person has never conducted or participated in a clinical study in her entire miserable existence, yet she has the unmitigated gall to say researchers who came to a conclusion should be jailed over what she has personally determined as misinformation.

On top of that, she orgasmically sent to our internal task force managing our COVID response the article about the judge who dismissed the case wherein the plaintiffs sued a hospital system for mandating the non-approved vaccines for their employees. In that article, it stated the judge ruled, "The COVID-19 vaccines are neither experimental or dangerous." Now, just what the hell qualifies the judge to make that determination?

The other, called the Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act, would have facilitated government-funded access to abortion drugs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). After an effort led by Biggs and other House conservatives like Reps. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) and Chip Roy (R-TX) among others, the bills failed to achieve the two-thirds necessary to make it through the House and were stopped from passing the chamber for now.

The day that slavery actually ended in the territory of what is now the United States was October 18, 1867, when ownership of Alaska passed from Russia to the United States, thus freeing the thousands of slaves (white, black, Native American, Asian, you name it) owned by the Tlingit tribe. They used to run slave raids as far south as California, and were viewed by the other coastal tribes much the way that English peasants viewed the Vikings. They were notorious for enslaving captured Europeans.

Don't expect to see a holiday commemorating that any time soon.

She wasn't in a nursing home but volunteered at one (she herself is in her 80s).

And, more importantly, she was the leader of a Bible study group that had several Chinese nationals in it and some of them had just come back from China around that time.

Maybe it wasn't but it's at least plausible.

I don't see how you can do a real conclusive study on such a thing (in an ethical way at least).

It's all self reported data from people. And most people can't accurately list every person they've been within 6 feet of or whatever in the last week or so.

But just knowing of viruses work, it seems unlikely that someone without symptoms could spread it. Although I suppose there is that small window where you're shedding the virus but not really sick yet, but who knows?

Most people that died with COVID outside of the nursing homes did NOT die FROM COVID.

And further, since it works just like every other respiratory disease it mostly spreads in the US in the late fall, early spring - so COVID was going to "end" this spring no matter what and the jabs have done almost nothing.

The biggest "win" from the lockdowns was getting people that were sick to stop going out in public to spread it to others, especially at work.

Annoying enough that I was taking NyQuil every night (which is very rare for me) I didn't notice being short of breath or losing taste or smell or anything. I just felt overall shitty. But I was still going to work and functioning and whatnot. The only remarkable thing about it was how long it lasted, which is why I immediately thought of it when covid-19 became a front page thing. Nowhere near as bad as the flu, which I'd had the previous winter.

Since neither nursing home residents nor the workers there were very likely to travel to China that means it was circulating long before then

Mark Steyn noted that someone was able to leave a home that had livestock in it, and board an international flight to Toronto.

They visted an ER, and with the wonderful Canadian nationilized 'care', was put on a gurney in a hallway, along with other patients. A vistor to another patient sadly spread it at a church picnic.

This is how this crap spreads, and so fast.

I thought it was when they heard about the 13th amendment being passed. The Emancipation Proclamation didn't do anything. Lincoln "freed the slaves" in the rebelling states, who, er, were not quite under his jurisdiction at the moment.

The Union states with slavery (like Missouri) were not included in that proclamation.

First they said it was all vaping that caused it. Then, eventually, after like six months of headlines about vaping killing kids, they said "it was from black market THC vape juice that contained high concentrations of vitamin E as a dissolvent" which I would assume means it was probably made in the US, since why go through the hassle of smuggling THC from China to the US when you can legally buy THC in several states, and get the dissolvent legally everywhere.

510 Jeebus, did that vegetable really give the russkis a list of "off limits" hacks?

In a country not as dumbed down and collapsed, it would create a firestorm of ridicule and criticism. How idiotic.

One can only hope it gets even better - that next week the embassy in Moscow contacts the MFA and says "oh, we have another item to add to the list, it was left off inadvertently, it's coming over in a demarche this afternoon".

Formal polygamy was common in the European Christian world before the RCC pressured the nobility to stop. Too many wives means too many heirs and too many wars.

531 And Luther at one point opined, "I confess that I cannot forbid a person to marry several wives, for it does not contradict the Scripture. If a man wishes to marry more than one wife he should be asked whether he is satisfied in his conscience that he may do so in accordance with the word of God. In such a case the civil authority has nothing to do in the matter."
Which is interesting in that I bet Lutheranism formally opposes polygamy.

534 Here's the TRUTH: Chi-na concocted the virus, it either escaped or was allowed to escape the lab (most likely), Neil Ferguson of London studied Chi-na's response and used their communist tactics to supposedly stop the spread (he originally thought the West wouldn't succumb to the jackboot tactics but when we did, he went in whole hog), the US bought into Ferguson's idea hook, line, and sinker, the American Left used the fake pandemic to dump Trump, everybody along the way lied, Dr. Fauci is an old, losing-it, bureacratic midwit who was used by all kinds of forces to help Dump Trump

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at June 16, 2021 02:16 PM (k39e/)

540 This isn't news. We've known there were cases in VA and the PNW US and Canada in Oct 2019 since *at least* spring 2020.

The official PRC response trying to blame the US for the outbreak referenced the VA cases, claiming those individuals brought it TO China, rather than back from it.

Wuflu was noticed as far back as Sept 2019 in North America; hospital staff and docs kept trying to figure out what it was. The time line as understood by most of the public and presented by the media is nonsense.

Posted by: somedood at June 16, 2021 02:19 PM (Cmlwd)

541 This is all in CDC data from late 2019 which showed a spike in cases categorized as "influenza like illness," or ILI. People were showing up in doctors' offices and hospitals exhibiting flu-like symptoms, but tested negative for influenza. Of course no one knew of Covid back then so these cases were designated ILI....

542 @MaxMBJ
I don't think they intended for it to get out locally. But after it did, my gut tells me they spread it internationally on purpose. The reason was twofold; it might hurt Trump's chances and they refused to suffer the economic impact alone. Ironically, it turned out to be a boon for China. Also, anyone else remember that even after Trump put the travel ban in place, there were reports of flights still coming in from China. I wondered at the time, "Why are they allowing that?"

Posted by: Brian448 at June 16, 2021 02:25 PM (/qOu4)

543 It went beyond just noting flu like illnesses and pneumonia; they'd sequenced enough of it to know it was a coronavirus in some places by Oct 2019.
