CHRIS CUOMO IS A SPECIAL KIND OF STUPID

Charles C.W. Cooke has a devastating takedown of Chris Cuomo, CNN's monument to mediocrity:

It is unclear why Cuomo was selected by CNN to begin with. He’s a lawyer who knows nothing of the law; a journalist who knows nothing of journalism; an American who knows nothing of America. His temper is third-rate, his interests are bewilderingly narrow, he possesses no discernible sense of shame or self-knowledge, and the opinions he proffers are so ruthlessly subordinated to expedience that hypocrisy is his default mode. Ralph Waldo Emerson’s maxim that “a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds” was meant as an extolment of the virtues of personal growth. Cuomo seems to have taken it literally.

(You should read the whole thing. Don't worry, the link is to archive.is, not NRO, for those of you who don't want to give that site traffic.)

By calling him 'mediocre', I'm actually overstating Cuomo's abilities. He would have to substantially up his game in order to be considered 'mediocre'. And he's not the only one. What about Brian Stelter? Almost everything that Cooke said about Cuomo in that quoted paragraph is equally applicable to Tater. Why can't CNN attract decent journalists? Do all the good ones get screened out in the hiring process? "Sorry, Mr. Recent J-School Graduate, I see you're using facts, logic, and evidence in the sample news piece you submitted with your application and you verified your sources twice. We're sorry, but that sort of thing is just not allowed here at CNN."

For example, a few weeks ago, Cuomo aired a segment wherein he babbled about being pro-life was the same thing as being racist. Including this howler:

"Legally, the issue is fetal viability," Cuomo said, “when does what is inside a woman become a person with rights under the law? You would think we would've empaneled experts on a special commission by now to see what the science says. Right? But we don't seem to have the intellectual curiosity about this issue."

What is he talking about?? Pro-life advocates have wanted to have a discussion about the science for literally decades, in fact, pretty much ever since the passage of Roe v. Wade. But we have been ignored or the issue has been dealt with flippantly. I remember seeing an episode of the TV show Maude back in the 70s where abortion was claimed to be not much different than getting a bad tooth removed(!) That's the extent of pro-abortion "science". Pro-abortion supporters always want to make the issue one of "women's rights" where they feel they're on stronger ground.

So my response to Cuomo is: Bring. It. On. There's no "we" here. *We* do not lack intellectual curiosity. That's your side. And it gets worse for you each year as advances in neonatology continue to pile up, every one of which is just more evidence against the pro-abortion view.

Washington Examiner columnist Becket Adams, in another piece highlighting Cuomo as an intellectual featherweight, explains:

In fact, the 37th annual March for Life ran on a specifically pro-science theme. Its organizers promoted two papers as part of the 2019 march’s broader message. The first paper, titled “A Scientific View of When Life Begins,” comes from the Charlotte Lozier Institute. The second, titled “When Human Life Begins,” comes from the American College of Pediatricians.

So yeah, we're loaded for bear on the science. Cuomo's idea to "[empanel] experts on a special commission...to see what the science says" is the only thing he's said that I agree with. In fact, I can't think of a single pro-life advocate who would be against this. Especially since the "party of Science" has never wanted to talk about the science. Cuomo wants a debate about the science? Fine. Come at us, bro. But his side better bring their 'A' game. Which means somebody other than Chris Cuomo.

She was in a relationship with gangster Johnny Stompanato, who once got his ass kicked by Sean Connery on the set of Another Time, Another Place. Stomp was insanely jealous, and constantly beat and threatened Turner, saying he would cut her to pieces if she ever strayed.

In 1958, Stomp beat Turner, threatening to kill both the actress and her daughter Cheryl. Cheryl stabbed him in the stomach with a kitchen knife, killing the gangster (for which she was tried and acquitted of justifiable homicide), but to this day there are rumors that Tuner herself stabbed Stompanato and Cheryl agreed to take the blame.

I learned on an auto (dad's preference) and then learned the manual (dad's insistence). I am not sure the order of learning really mattered. You're more connected to the car in a manual and the behavior is a bit more predictable, but there's less shit to figure out when you're first learning in an auto. I dunno if one is any better than the other in terms of ordering.

idk, maybe there is a mafia or criminal syndicate attachment with the name brands. "Don't mess with the Clintons" type thinking indicates they have friends that can kill inconvenient witnesses. Pelosi heritage also mobbed up ... the old Godfather type syndicates maybe now all have their politicians?

... Or is it all DeepState and their "Made Men". idk ... but the Junta continues down the path of tyranny, intellectual argument is not their strength.

Now, up to Mom what she does. Her body, her choice.

IIRC, the whole "Groningen Protocol" had to be stopped because too many ordinary Germans were suspicious and pushing back in congress with the Lutheran Church. Hitler decided to punt on the matter, figuring he would deal with the church when he won the war and then went ahead with the Holocaust, since he rightly believed the Germans wouldn't care about the Jews.

I mean, that's not likely to happen after an argument while trying to teach your wife to drive a stick. But they are a couple of words.

Once upon a time, an ex boyfriend tried to teach me how to drive his pickup, which had a stick. It went really badly, and to this day, I'm somewhat happy that I might have done bad things to his transmission.

/don't tell me I didn't, I like that belief.

Heh. I had a roommate who taught his girlfriend (now wife, so the fights weren't too bad I guess) how to drive a manual. His car had a "hill-hold" clutch."

On a subsequent trip, we were in my car and it had only a proletarian clutch. It started rolling backward while she was driving and she freaked out - she had never experienced it before. I laughed and she learned.

166 The abortion debate has been really sick and deceptive over the years as the left has desperately tried to find a way to defend the indefensible.

It was first sold as compassionate, those poor girls who made a mistake, don't punish them for being foolish! Remember when you were young!

Then it was "well its just a clump of cells, its not really human"

Then it was "ok fine, its clearly human tissue, but not a human PERSON"

Its like the mask thing where magically the virus ignores you when you eat. A baby only becomes a human person when it leaves the mother's body. Or when a pregnant woman is murdered, then its double homicide of a non-person clump of unviable parasitic cells.

167 IIRC, the whole "Groningen Protocol" had to be stopped because too many ordinary Germans were suspicious and pushing back in congress with the Lutheran Church. 172 OMG Teh Stupid burns.

Wait till she hears the Battle of Gettysburg was won with "hey look your shoelace is untied!"

Armendariz does represent a view point that the Elite have had towards their own soldiers for ages. For example, in the book "Churchill's Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" which outlines the creative and sneaky ways that boffins invented munitions and techniques to attack the enemy, the British generals took great offense because it was against some unspoken rule that war is supposed to be waged on brilliant military strategy on strictly imagined traditional rules.

They view war as a violent chess game. Death and destruction are just mere irrelevant collateral damage. It was this sick shit that racked up huge casualties in WW1.

The elite look at those beneath them as chattel and disposal objects.

The Gunny in charge handed me his notes to hold while he went over to unjam an LAV-25 turret (our Opposition Force for the exercise). I quickly skimmed the notes, found their freqs and had my radio guy load them into our comms.

Didn't give us that much of an edge, but was interesting to me to hear how the OpFor operated (since I was also an LAV-25 gunner)

Week later back in the offices, word got out and the Gunny summoned me into the 1st Sgts office to explain myslef. Which wasn't hard: "I was teaching your boys that it's okay to cheat to ensure we close with and destroy the enemy". The 1st SGT stiffled a smile and kicked me back to my unit.

That Armendariz is ignorant beyond words.

This situation is cut-and-dried. This was a military operation long before any Geneva convention. But the Geneva Convention has nothing to say, AFAIK, about the wakefulness of uniformed troops in a conventional assault. And the Mexican Army were not civilians, and it's safe to say it was the highest-value military target in that war.

And let's not forget, Texas wasn't the only Mexican state to revolt, just the one that beat Santa Anna. And somewhere between a third and a half of the Texans were Mexicans. Most of northern and central Mexico also revolted. Santa Anna and his Army subdued them by means worthy of Genghis Khan. I think it's fair to say the actions in Zacatecas and Aguascalientes were comparable to the Rape of Nanking.

Funny, that's where I learned to drive. Never bothered me until I started commuting, the stop and go and stop and go is what was killing me. Then I fucked up my back and had sciatica, which made the clutch into a torture device. With a Porsche, my left leg was already 2" thicker than my right. Finally bought a second car with an auto when I commuted from San Jose to SF every day.

"Makes me proud." Look at that. Let it sink in. This person is *proud* to have coerced a young girl into grasping and toying with the phallic symbols of automotive control. This person is *proud* that the daughter is contributing to the disaster of of anglo-supremacism through excessive North American reproduction. Moreover, this person expresses pride that the daughter drives an absurdly large, expensive, environmentally-destructive, gas-guzzling status symbol like a Suburban.

This is what we're up against. This is the battle field. The lines are drawn. Not only do these kinds of people not listen or acknowledge the tremendous damage they're doing, they are indeed *proud* of that damage and its implications.

This is one of the most hostile things I have read all week. This is the perfect distillation of the problem. This is perfectly reflective of the kind of aggressive, uncaring, overtly hostile regression in our society.

Anyway, time for work. See you around in the various threads.

292 Keep in mind that while the latest, official, overt US government position today is "White People Are The Terrorists You Guys, Seriously", it has only been fairly recently these views were made public.

It has been the operating principle for a long, long time. 9/11/2001 didn't happen in a vacuum, resources are not unlimited for intelligence and law enforcement and actual no shit Jihadists were being imported to America. And anyone raising the alarm was sidelined, and there were people whose job it was, to make damn sure nothing was done about it. Some of them were even installed on the "9/11 Commission"; they were on the wrong side of the dais. They should have been the ones answering questions, not axing them.

Let that shit sink in for a while.

And I know this will shock you little liberal hind brain, but they talked a lot about the history before the Indians migrated in, what it was like when it was just the Indians, then the Spanish, the whole "French" thing with LaSalle (I still think that was just a marketing gimmick). And it was surprisingly balanced. But that was back when schools had standards and held students to them.

Last year in April, I decided to step up my plans to grab a new (used) car. I had planned for around September, which traditionally is when prices go down with new inventory and lease returns are coming in. But with the lockdowns, I saw the prices plummet. I probably even waited a few weeks too much, as some cars I'd have grabbed vanished.

I just looked at the same stock I was looking at yesterday. My car has gone up nearly $10k, most everything is $7-10k higher, and higher mileage cars to boot since fewer people are trading in leases. One year later.

372 I remember the 70s, when the pro-abortionists were scoffing about the "clump of cells" they were swishing away. Prenatal ultrasound technology was just getting started then, and the primitive results were just what they needed to bolster their cause. Look at that thing! Call that a BABY? Ha! It looks like a prawn! Pro-aborts effing LOVED science in those days.

But 10 years later, when the technology was sophisticated enough to show distinct fingers, toes and facial features, they turned against it. I remember an argument where the pro-life advocate was using fetal imaging to show just how human pre-natals were, and the pro-abort flatly declared that she'd had enough of science and technology, and didn't need it to progress any more in this field.

375 Once drove a KW box truck, equipped with a 4 over 4 Spicer gearbox. Once. Only, once!

Truck was a late '60s model, and this was in '79. Damn thing had well over a million miles on it, and if it ever had synchros in the box, they were worn to powdered bronze and tears by then. Plus, with a 22' box on a cab-over rig, the turning radius on that thing was in the Supertanker range. And no air-conditioning. In San Antonio, TX.

Once was enough, thankyouverymuch.

Amy Lee started the trend of getting singers that can actually *sing* into harder bands.

And you can see kind of the perfection of that with a band like Within Temptation - Sharon den Adel is one of the more talented singers in the world and her band certainly brings a harder sound.

Well, DB, I think there should be a "Thank A Trucker Day" to acknowledge folks like you. I was once driving with my daughter on Highway 401 in Canada, and after carefully looking in my mirrors and signalling, started to move into the right-hand lane to get ready to exit. Just at that moment, a speeding idiot came up on the right lane and tried to pass me. A trucker a quarter mile behind us saw what was happening, sounded his big horn, and spooked me so I jerked back into my lane and the idiot speeder passed me on the right. I wish I could have waved to thank him, but I was too shaken by the close shave. I've always remembered that good deed, though. He must have had a clear view ahead and saw what was about to happen.

Traffic idiocies aside I think our roads are some of the safest places in the country, in no small measure due to truckers.
