The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

Some days are just bad days, that's all. You have to experience sadness to know happiness, and I remind myself that not every day is going to be a good day, that's just the way it is! Dita Von Teese

*

Quote II

‘Parents all think that their children are great but when she was born the doctor had said wow her eyes are really attentive.’Devon Quest

*

Quote III

“I was on Long Island this weekend, visiting a really dear friend, and I was really disturbed,” “I saw, you know, dozens and dozens of pickup trucks with expletives against Joe Biden on the back of them, Trump flags, and in some cases, just dozens of American flags, which is also just disturbing, because essentially the message was clear: It was, ‘This is my country. This is not your country. I own this.’”Mara Gay, NYT Reporter and MSNBC analyst.

Not to mention one ignorant human being.

The Hen House which enables the Fox is called upon to police itself.

The top Senate tax writers expressed concern Tuesday about the unauthorized disclosure of taxpayer information in a ProPublica report examining more than 15 years’ worth of tax returns for the country’s wealthiest individuals, but they drew different conclusions about how the disclosure should influence their legislative efforts.

Senate Finance Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., said the report’s findings that America’s wealthiest billionaires paid little in income taxes underscored the need for legislation that would require them to pay their “fair share.”

But Finance ranking member Michael D. Crapo, R-Idaho, focused more on the leak of the tax returns, saying it adds to his concerns that the administration’s proposal to require banks to report more taxpayer financial information to the IRS could compromise Americans’ privacy.

Wyden brought up the ProPublica report as he opened Tuesday’s hearing on the fiscal 2022 IRS budget request with Commissioner Charles Rettig. He said the data used in the report “appears to be a massive, unauthorized disclosure of taxpayer records” and called on the IRS to investigate the source of the disclosure.

Regulars of the AoSHQ know there is total animosity between CBD and Bluebell when it comes to all things NY vs. Boston in the sporting world. However we must agree there is one smart Red Sox fan.

A baseball fan was escorted out of Fenway Park in Boston after unveiling a giant banner during a Monday afternoon Red Sox game that read, “Trump Won – Save America,” according to local media and video posted to social media.

A team spokesman said that the fan was booted from the park because of a rule prohibiting such signage displays, WCVB5 reported.

The banner was unfurled during the fourth inning in the center field bleacher’s seats during a Sox game against the Miami Marlins.

I bet Ashli Babbit would have appreciated being sentenced to less than the minimum recommendation.

Judge Declares George Floyd Rioter That Torched PD Station A ‘Good Person’ & Cuts Him A Break
fourth and final man has been charged in federal court for burning down the Minneapolis police precinct during the riots last summer after the death of George Floyd.

Bryce Michael Williams, 27, was the last person to be convicted in the fire bombing of the Minneapolis third precinct. In federal court Judge Patrick Schiltz said Williams is a “good person who made a terrible mistake and is cutting him a break. Schiltz sentenced Williams to a prison term lower than the recommended federal sentencing guidelines. Schiltz sentenced Williams to two years and three months confinement and another two years of supervised release.

After Williams participated in the destruction of the police station he posted videos of his actions on TikTok and became a social media social justice star.

Previously The ONT covered Byron (Tanner) Cross's suspension as a PE teacher. That suspension has been lifted.

On Tuesday, a judge ordered the Loudoun County, Va., school district to reinstate a physical education teacher who dared to speak out against a policy that would require teachers to endorse transgender identity by using female pronouns to refer to male students and vice versa. Roughly 24 hours later, the district suspended the teacher and barred him from setting foot on school property. The judge ruled that this suspension likely violated the teacher’s First Amendment right to free speech.

Not only is it a "Free Speech" issue it is also common sense addressing a mental health issue.

Monday's ONT comment section had talk about the new Ford pickup truck. When I hear Ford Maverick I don't think truck, I think a POS sedan from the 70s.

ou and I know that pickup trucks are larger—and more expensive—than they've ever been. We'll never see the likes of the original Ford Ranger again, a compact truck with a single bench seat, hand-crank windows, and an available seven-foot bed. The 2022 Ford Maverick aims to be the closest thing to that, though, and while it only comes in four-door configuration, it does its darnedest to fight the good fight with a starting price around $20,000 including destination.

Oh, and it comes standard with a super-efficient hybrid powertrain, too.

So Karen isn't such a great name at the moment.

WASHINGTON (SBG) — Less "Karens" will be asking for the manager after data reveals that the name plummeted in popularity in 2020, the lowest ranking for the name since 1927.

The name's decrease in popularity has come a long way since the name was the third-most-popular name for baby girls in 1965, and the viral Karen meme is the most likely reason why.

For those unaware of the meme, a "Karen" is typically a white, entitled woman who throws public tantrums thanks to a perceived victim mentality. The meme is often used as a catch-all term for bad behaviors by women with white privilege.

According to the Social Security Administration, the name "Karen" dropped 171 spots in baby name rankings for girls in 2020, coming in as the 831st most popular name.

Donald Trump may not be in the White House. But he's not done with politics.

Former President Donald Trump announced Monday that he plans to travel to Alaska to campaign against Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s re-election.

One of the reasons Trump pointed to for this decision was Murkowski’s choice to confirm Biden administration appointees, who then shut down oil exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve.

“Senator Lisa Murkowski has cost the great people of Alaska billions and billions of dollars by voting for Radical Left Biden appointees, which in turn led to the revocation of ANWR drilling, which Alaskans have been fighting to see happen for six decades,” the 45th president said in a statement.

It's really hard to walk away from something you love. Just ask the band, Lynyrd Skynyrd.

“We were two shows into the end of the three-year plan for the farewell tour, when the virus hit and everything was just gone,” singer Johnny Van Zant said in a statement. “Once something is taken away from you - music and touring, in our case - you truly realize how important it is and such a part of your life. Music is a great healer, and that’s what we all turn to when things are good or bad. A Skynyrd show is a family affair, and we want these dates to help heal our fans as much as ourselves."

Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Veteran Donates 36 Acres of Land to Build Retreat for Homeless Vets Struggling With Addiction

Along with their devotion to one another, Marty Weber and his longtime partner Jeff Poissant shared many things in common. They owned a business together. Both loved nature. Both served in the U.S. Army, and both experienced firsthand some of the challenges military veterans can face.

When Poissant passed away four years ago from cancer, Weber could think of no better way to honor their 30-year union than by supporting military veterans in need.

In order to make that happen, Weber is donating 36 rural acres bordering New Jersey’s Pinelands National Reserve to be used as a rehabilitation center/retreat for mental illness and addiction. Its name? Jeff’s Camp.

40 Hi everyone. Still trying to watch "1941" which I downloaded because people (unnamed people) said it was a great, underrated comedy.

It's not. This is a film that was made by people who have NO sense of humor at all. "Humor? That's when someone gets punched in the face and falls out of a plane and breaks their hip, right?"

That would be funny if the Three Stooges did it, because the Three Stooges understood physical comedy. Beavis and Butthead understood comedy. SCTV understood comedy.

Everyone involved in "1941" had no idea at all of what comedy is. The lack of laughs proves this.

Man, she gets pissed off when the Karen name controversy comes up. She's not a whiner at all, but on this specific issue, she's had more than here share of the noise. Once last summer, she went on and on for about 20 minutes, only mixing her a stiff margarita quieted her down.

He was born in TDN's heyday and both his parents were heroin addicts during his gestation. He was born addicted to heroin.
Chuck came across as a very very sad man, and his ex-wife the same. The entire family lived an unending tragedy because of the freewheelin' lifestyle promoted in the 60s & 70s. It was heart rending.

159 I believe the lead singer for Three Dog Night on many of the hits was Corey Wells, who passed away recently. He most definitely had a set of pipes. Even as a kid, hearing their tunes on the radio quite a bit, I could tell they were ... really ... I dunno. Hard core I guess. I liked "Shambala", it reminded me of summers and hanging out with the neighborhood kids without a care in the world.

167 56 I've spent the past few days here in Detroit. There is a real difference on COVID here than in NoVa. Both of these places are blue blue blue. But in Nova, I don't know anyone who has had COVID. I mean, no one I know. Sure, people had it. No one in my workplace. None of my friends. No one.

Here in Detroit, literally every single person I have met has had it. Every one. People in the workplace. Friends and family. Every one.

Something very, very different happened here. I don't know what.

226 I love the top picture.

My son took a class in Earth Science in HS, but if you really got past the droning teaching, the science is fascinating.

For instance, the 'snaking' of a river or stream has really nothing to do with topography or location or geography. As water flows, it takes sediments down stream. The larger particles begin to fall out, build up, and the stream is forced to change course, take more sediment down, and then the large particles fall after a distance and build up and the stream turns the other way, etc etc...people always think that its winding way must be due to the way the land lays, but its more about physics and not really much else.

267 For instance, the 'snaking' of a river or stream has really nothing to do with topography or location or geography.
Posted by: Boswell at June 08, 2021 09:44 PM (5iUNf)

Yep. A meandering stream is a sign of a mature river system, in which the gradient is about as low as it can get, and still permit water to flow, not stand. And oxbow lakes are simply cut-off meanders.

331 I have my vinyl Dark Side and Brain Salad Surgery framed on the mancave wall along with some other ones, chosen as much for the cover art as the music. Breakfast in America. Yes's Drama. Thick as a Brick. Some punk/new wave like the first Ramones album and the 2nd Talking Heads album.

The old record album frames were heavy glass and metal affairs that required wall anchors. The new light, plastic ones can hang up with a Command strip and you can just leave the album in it if you want (I don't) and easily take them down to play them. With the old frames it was a cumbersome affair with clips to remove and replace and all that.

expect that with stronger weed, people would just smoke less to get the
same effect and save their lungs a bit.

Yeah don't bet on it. I know life long smokers who haven't slowed down much. You do build up a resistance, and I tell them at this point you're just pissing away money. Stop with the wake and bakes, stop with the joints after every frigging meal, the maintenance hits, the night caps, etc. They don't listen.

384 there is a very large granite boulder between McMinnville and Sheridan Oregon that was rafted there on an iceberg when the Lake Missoula ice dam let go and flooded the Columbia and Willamette valleys. It is called "Erratic Rock park"

Dayton is about 50 miles south of Portland, up the Willamette, and it the park has a decent view of the valley. That flood was huge.
Posted by: Kindltot at June 08, 2021 10:22 PM (ySM85)

Near Okotoks, Alberta, there is a large glacial erratic known locally as "Big Rock". It is made of quartzite, and is the size of a house. There are several similar, but smaller boulders from the same boulder train that have been identified, and they originated in a cirque in the Rocky Mountains NW of Rocky Mountain House, if I remember right.

Calgary has a Big Rock Brewery that takes its name from there. Good beer.

She is fine - visited with a specialist in St. Louis yesterday. She has congenital hip dysplasia in both hips; yesterday the doctor said that the cartilage damage is severe enough that total hip replacement is needed in both hips.

He is having us do a regimen of steroidal injections, prescription NSAIDs and physical therapy for 6 months to see if those will help.

We are going back in early December for a reevaluation - my guess is that she will be having 2 surgeries next year. Thankfully, the recuperation from THR is much shorter than from a PAO.

I'd like to rent my house out, and travel the West. What I need is a pretty good taskmaster, to keep me motivated. A guy without a good woman, he's just spinnin' his wheels.

425 Yeah, where I live, the houses (for the most part) aren't YUGE, but a lot of them are nice. There are a few big uns.

My neighbor shoots in his back yard (his yard backs up to a big forest).
It's quiet here most of the time. Noisiest time of the week is Monday, when the trash trucks come.
No sidewalks, just the streets. A lot of people drive golf carts and off-road vehicles to race around the neighborhood.
We have a lot of chipmunks in the yard. They're hilarious, but make a lot of holes in the lawn. So we sprinkle granules that smell like fox urine around them. And then, there are the real foxes that roam the neighborhood.....after dark.

Extra credit: memorize first part of Die Wacht am Rhein, sung by the krauts at the piano, which led to the whole Marseillaise unpleasantness.

470 I put nothing on a calendar on a phone, or any device. No apps, other than the factory installed bloatware.

My ideal phone would be basically near-to a dumb phone, but with text, camera, and the ability to hit the 'net, if needed. Not a game console, not a 4k movie camera.

And to top it off with a cherry, the ability to manually turn OFF the camera and microphones. Actual phone calls notwithstanding, of course.

My old Sanyo, non-flip dumb fone was the best. A week of battery power, and antenna that could reach OUT, and connect. Pity. Ancient tech, I don't think it'd even see a tower, today.

This isn't the only reason but more a happy coincidence. In order to get the THC levels up you need to keep the plants from reproducing. Pot has male and female plants, so you need to rip up the male plants as soon as they are identified. If not the females go to seed then die instead in a couple of weeks instead of 6-8 more of building up THC. Don't ask me how I know this....

I'm being a bit snarky about it. Probably quite a few home growers are quite the botanists and aren't growing it in a closet. 538 In 2003 a Ford Ranger plain with manual trans and a real spare and bed liner was off the lot 15,900.

I know cuz I bought one. More fool me tho cause the 2003 had nothing like the comfort and utility of the previous ranger I based my decision on a 1987 that was a work truck for the power company.
I loved that 87 but it had too many miles and the opportunity came up for me to buy a brand new truck. (I never had a new vehicle ever before.)
Thought that the 87 was good then the 03 should be at least okay.
NO. They hulked it out on the body which took away room from inside. It was downright uncomfortable to drive for any length of time. Hit my knees and foot so that they were killing me by the end of a long drive. That and some other problems but it still was better than walking but I missed my 87.

They always do that. Come out with a good vehicle and go for a few years with max sales then they start dinking it up. Making it bigger, more accessories, "stylish", and of course more appealing to . . . women.
To top it off in 2010 with 107,000 miles the hydraulic actuator for the clutch blew and it's a 1500 job minimum. Tried to separate the trans from the engine but it was glued.

548 Actually I joke now but it was scary as fuck.

First time I ever "felt" evil. Imagine how it would feel watching your child get shot and drop to the ground, a suffocating horror.

Except, instead of all that, you're just in the drive thru at McDs and your sister merely says the guy's name and you get the same sensation. Suddenly the suffocating horror descends. "No, you're not going back there alone"

I'm not superstitious, but I trust my gut. That was so scary.

633 "To see Kamala flail haplessly, yes it's funny, but also makes me weep for America"

It's an own goal. Biden admin intended her Border "czar" duties to be focused on South American countries and why they are running to America. Probably some Marxist narrative but they forget to have their "DNC operatives with bylines" spread the word so now it looks like she's incompetent re the southern border.

Although I suspect that was the goal all along, to make her look incompetent. Whoever our real President currently is, they don't like Kamala. Which means the Pres is probably female since they would be immune to Kamala's oral charms?
