I mean shows that you really enjoyed that got canceled after a season or two. I'll give you two: Men at Work. This ran for 3 seasons (but only 30 episodes) about a decade ago on TBS. It's about 4 30ish guys who work together at a men's magazine (not Playboy, more like Maxim or GQ) in New York. One of them, Milo, gets dumped by his cheating girlfriend in the first episode and the series revolves around their dating and social lives. I thought the writing was crisp and the dialogue really does a good job of capturing dudes being dudes. Of course it would be canceled today, not just because of the subject matter but because the lead actor (Danny Masterson) is currently on trial for rape, but I found it to be genuinely amusing.
The Great Indoors This show got 1 season on CBS in 2016. It's about an outdoor magazine like Field and Stream that decides to go web-only and brings it's head outdoors corespondent in from the field to their Chicago offices where he's forced to supervise a bunch of Gen-Z writers whose idea of adventure is riding the El after dark. Stephen Fry also stars as the grizzled founder of the magazine, and I enjoyed the culture clash between Gen X Jack and the Gen Z weenies. So, what short lived shows did you enjoy, and did any of you watch these two when they aired?

The first season was really good. The second season had some needless woke BS Romeo & Juliet-style subplot, but also had a pretty cool ending. Didn't get renewed for a third season.

Jim Belushi's finest role, and as someone who works at a law firm I really enjoyed how they got the details of that right. For example, the one partner doesn't want the other to put some cash from a guy in their safe because it would create an attoney/client relationship between them.
I guess it was sort of a drama with comedy, but it was very good and it's a shame it didn't last.

It was funny. He was a notorious tightwad (on some things, but spared no expense on others). He would reuse his alien/monster costumes and props a lot through all those serieses he did.

I wonder if locusts are related to anything that can cause an allergic reaction in humans? Read something today people that have seafood allergies should not eat Cicadas as they are related to the shrimp and lobster family. I know this eating Cicadas BS has been tossed about.

"Animal House" had three spin off shows around 1978. CBS had one that never got past the pilot. NBC has one called "Brothers and Sisters" that only ran for a couple of months but was kind of funny. ABC did "Delta House" with a lot of the cast from the movie but it didn't last long.

JQ original had great stuff like finding Pteranodons in the Amazon Jungle, a crazed WWI German vet that decides to use Race Bannon to get is kill count up to even numbers by duelling him in a Spad, Robot Spiders and sad Invisible Electrical monsters. Dream making stuff for a kid.

There was another B5 follow on show about the rangers that had a delayed start, originally scheduled to come out around the middle of September 2001. That didn't work out so well.

"Legend of the Rangers" was a made-for tv movie that was a pilot for the aborted series about the Rangers. Not great. Crusade had a much better plot and cast, but only ran for 13 episodes before it was cancelled.

Duckman. Jason Alexander as the voice of the duck detective was fabulous. I watched the first two seasons, and quit watching after a few episodes in the third season as the writing went downhill quickly.

i loved that show. I was a huge fan of the Black Sheep. The unit kept going on into the modern era, hell it is probably still around today. They were called VMA 214.
I met the Japanese guy that claims he shot down Pappy Boyington. Some still question him, but the guy made a semi career out of it. He would attend airshow, hawk his book, sign stuff, etc.

I liked it back in the day. I've tried to watch re-runs of it, and the big Sixties WW2 series, Twelve O'Clock High and Combat. They don't hold up for me. There's only so many times an 8th AF bomber group commander can be shot down and escape back to England, or be parachuted into occupied France on an espionage mission. And only so many times a single Army squad can be sent on recon missions deep behind German lines and return, or be cut-off with radio failure and about to be bombed or shelled by friendly forces.

What's weird about that show is that the title character, despite his oh so many flaws, is actually a very dedicated family man. It's really quite a sweet show with a lot of hard edges. Strange mix, but it does tend to work quite well if you give it a chance.

For some reason, maybe because the network wasn't being compensated as well as other shows (there was a Zuckerberg group that had some inside info on it), CBS soured on it during the last season and rushed the show into ending more quickly than the producers wanted. Very prescient on how the derp state manipulates security and IT matters.

The episodes are the equivalent of a TV movie though (80-90 minutes). It's funny, the best episode of Sherlock and House both revolve around the same concept of 3 stories being told by Holmes/House at once.

I felt that way about the first couple of seasons of The Last Ship. Seasons 1 and 2 were excellent and terrifying. Seasons 3-5 showed that the producers were clearly reaching for ways to make the title "The Last Ship" make sense, as the time skips between seasons meant that the world had somewhat recovered.

That's an odd one. The original "V" was a miniseries that ran for a few episodes. Then it was reborn into a full-length series before it was cancelled. Then a remake came out in 2009 (I think) that only lasted a couple of seasons.

The 80's one? IIRC, it was a TV movie first then NBC pushed it into a series that lasted like 3 seasons. It wasn't very, it just had some tame grotesquery and standard H-wood sci-fi-not-sci-fi.

Interestingly (well, to me) is the pitch for Gold Monkey predates Raiders. When the movie became a hit the studios went digging for things they could ape off it and hey, here is this pitch (don't remember if it had gotten a pilot or not). So it both existed before and because of Raiders.

I watched it faithfully, hoping it would eventually get off its ass and go somewhere. But it just sort of meandered around with a perpetual cat and mouse game between the lizard queen alien and the mopey policewoman, never raising the stakes properly. In the end it just petered out with the aliens taking over, and no idea of how the remaining non-coopted humans were going to fight back.

He seems like one of the really good guys of popular entertainment. Did you get to know him at all?
Because of my infatuation with his role in Person of Interest I've seen almost all his movies. Some are better than others but two that flew under the radar which are extremely powerful are "The Stoning of Soraya M." and "My Name is David"; in both of them he just has small roles but thought it was very important that they get made. His moral compass seems very well calibrated.

A lot of the best brit stuff is based on novels, and they get the OK from the author/estate to keep it true to the character. It also means if they run out of material, the show is over. I guess that doesn't explain anything since in the US they just keep making shit up. Maybe the market is more sensitive over there since the book buyers and fans are what drives the fanbase.

I watched The Last Ship too. The first season was Noah's Arc, the 3rd ? Season was in the Mediterranean Sea/Greek Isles and it had strong echos of The Odyssey. I was reading that at the same time with my high schooler. Surreal.

A show that went on too long is Big Bang Theory. We still watched it, but honestly, it could have ended maybe five seasons sooner, and it would have been much better if they had let Sheldon have some actual character growth instead of turning him into a caricature. When I started watching that show early on, I felt that the viewer was supposed to identify with Leonard as the mostly-normal person surrounded by weirdos, but I actually identified with Sheldon as the weird person surrounded by mostly-normal people. But they made him weirder and less sympathetic over time.
Two Broke Girls had three or four pretty funny jokes during their multi-year run.

I don't know what roll viewership played in it as its number were low (Doctor Who is dropping like a rock but the Beeb seems to be OK with it continually doing it) but Detective Agency was created/show run by Max Landis (Son of Famous director John Landis-Blues Brothers, American Werewolf in London, that segment of The Twilight Zone movie with the helicopter) and Max got himself wrapped up in #MeToo at that time.
So any talk of Netflix or whomever picking it up and continuing it died right there and then.

I had it trapped in the small downstairs bathroom, this was a noisy one. I've dealt w/ maybe 5 or 6 before in the 30 some yrs we've lived here. Often can chase them out an open window.
This time I'm recovering from major back surgery so was just not feeling up to do the capture myself. Called county animal control and they showed up and did a great job.
Somehow I missed Taq's bday, belated good wishes. And it was nice to hear from Slap, I must write this down, his bday is 5/30. Good to hear he is doing well.

I saw the final Blackadder installment at the Millenium Dome in London. They made the show just for the Millenium Dome, during the Millenium. Later it came out and was seen in other places.
An obscure Atkinson series I used to watch on pbs was called The Thin Blue Line. It wasn't great, but it was pretty damn funny. A couple of those local brit actors made it into major movies.

A funny thing about Just Shoot ME!. For some reason almost ever actor from NewsRadio appeared on the show. There was Root, Andy Dick, Foley, and Rogan. There was also a lot of crossover with bit players like Posehn.

That was a good one. We enjoyed the original Librarian movie, so I'm kinda surprised it took us this long to watch the series. But it got quite a few seasons, so while I would have liked to have more seasons (and more Rebecca Romijn!), it at least had a chance to wrap up.

Lady friend and I finally finished season 2 over Memorial Day weekend. We are both Twin Peaks virgins. The second season was about 14-16 episodes too long: The movie was awesome and terrifying stuff. We loved it. We are really digging season 3 and burning though it every late night and early morning when she jogs over.
She had an old strobe light and snuck it into my bedroom. Her hair turns more blonde in the summer. She set up the strobe light when I was in the shower at 3am Tuesday morning, and did make up like Laura Palmer with the lipstick all fucked up. When I came out she was making the Laura Palmer faces of screaming and terror and fear. I about had a damn heart attack, and I did scream.
I don't know how I could ever top that prank because prank wars never end, but I'm open to suggestions tho.

I had it trapped in the small downstairs bathroom, this was a noisy one. I've dealt w/ maybe 5 or 6 before in the 30 some yrs we've lived here. Often can chase them out an open window.
Throwing a beach towel at them usually works for me plus you can dump them outside more or less intact. Those suckers consume lots of mosquitos.

Yeah the network made David Lynch "solve" the murder. He hated it, did it, and lost interest in the show. Turns out everyone else lost interest at the same time. That is a giant "whoops" from an executive meddling as the show was hot back in the day. I wasn't watching it, but I remember people who were were seriously into it.

I got a battery powered motor and its been the easiest to use most reliable mower I've ever owned. You're not gonna mow a half acre with it but if you just have some residential lawn care it works great.

Dave, engines in that size range usually have magneto ignition, and the ignition switch contacts have to be open for the engine to run. So your ignition switch might have 4 to 6 poles. One is battery, one is crank; those two must connect together to crank the engine. There is probably also an "accessory" terminal to supply 12 volt power to things like the blade clutch and lights. And then, independent of those, a ground terminal and an ignition terminal, which shorts to ground when the key is turned to "off".
My Dixon ZTR has a Murphy switch in the seat, too.

nice catch. a lot of the time it is the producers you need to follow. If you like one think they did, there is a good chance you will like the others. If I recall correctly, a lot of the guys involved with Wings were involved with Frasier. David Angell was very well known and well respected. He also famously lost his life on 9/11.

That would be a maid cafe style maid outfit, yes. Some of the cafes are...odd, from what I have gleaned in the past, but many (most?) are more Hooters type oggle the staff than directly pron things. I'm guessing Rona hit that particular fandom like a ton of harvested ballots.

First 2 seasons are on DVD, and maybe Disney +, Though it took like a decade to get the second season finished as it didn't sell like Disney wanted during the DVD TV boom, and they simply dropped it, see also Duck Tales and the still not finished Darkwing Duck.
Some other company did the 3rd season, and it was poorly received and has never seen a physical release.

If you turn the ignition switch to "run", and crank it by jumping at the solenoid, will the engine start? It might be a problem with the fuse or circuit breaker feeding the ignition switch, if there is one.
You should be able to find a wiring diagram for the beast on-line, if you do a search for "Toro Model XXXX schematic".

Funnily enough, one of the guys who wrote the first season of Heroes also wrote Wonderfalls - Tim Menear, I think.
I like the first number of episodes of Heroes, but once they "saved the cheerleader" and nothing really happen I got uninterested. Also a painter/heroin guys could have been interesting if he had to do heroin in order to access his powers. A tough choice.

Heroes. It was a victim of it's own success as each season was supposed to follow completely different casts, but season 1 was so big they tried to carry on a story they finished. That Season 2 happened during that long writers strike and so meandered and was haphazard pretty much sealed its fate, though it limed on for another year (2?). The reboot a couple years ago went no where either.

However, since it was about sexbots, Fox decreed that it would be aired second. This caused problems later on because episodes 2-4 were supposed to focus on Karl Urban's character getting over his emotional issues caused by the events that opened the series. Instead, viewers saw Urban acting normally in the second episode that aired. And then, a month or two later when episodes 2-4 finally aired, viewers were left trying to figure out why Urban's character was suddenly suffering from anger issues.
Good series. I liked it a lot. Still annoyed that it got cancelled. But I guess that's why you don't run Sci-Fi shows on Fox.
Also notable in that the final episode didn't try and pull a cliff-hanger. In fact, the episode had nothing to do with the series meta-plot.

Loved Psych. Funny when my son was born, the first week off I had during his 6am feeding Psych would be on TV. Lo and behold, first day of feeding for him, season 1 episode 1. Wife and I watched the first season together and had a blast.
The chemistry between the main characters was terrific and the acting and writing was sharp.
I loved Burn Notice but I can kinda see your point. I actually liked Jeffrey Donovan and his portrayal of a spy. He was super polished unless he was playing a character in the show. Which made sense to me as he was a super spy before he got burned.

A. First, do as AOP suggests above, find wiring diagram.
B. Try switching the ignition to the 'Run' position (ON), and then jump solenoid. See if it runs. Most equipment will require that the brake be engaged if the seat is unoccupied. Probably will not start/run, but it's a clue. Either 'Run' isn't actually connecting the ignition, OR, one of the kill mechanisms isn't working properly.

I have a soft spot for the guy who created Spongebob who died too young. I just think it's very clever that he was a marine biologist and thought up these characters as a way to teach kids about marine life. They tried to re-write the Phalanx software to "ignore" things like treelines, utility poles and their wires, radio aerials and such. But nope. Hastily done software patches didn't work on a system optimized to take out targets with only a clean sea-horizon and/or friendly aircraft sqwacking transponder codes in desperate hopes not to be "next". Run the same hardware now, with up to date code written by talented and motivated Morons.
The Sgt. York ought to kick ass, but failed due to the humans behind it's potential. Not due to the potential itself.

Good question. Semi truck went over the scale before me. And they use the scale to weigh their own in-house transfers, too. This had to be a system error of some kind, and not a deliberate cheat. A really subtle cheat could go on for months, and not be detected.

I have only seen parts of it. Even the reaction videos bore me. Jaws was no shark movie, it was in another league. It would be interesting to come up with number 2. My guess is many would say Tremors, for some reason it has a major cult following I can't think the second best of the genre because I don't like horror. That some movie almanacs list Jaws as horror floors me. I mean, I get it, but I think it is way off.

It's started and run by the Dayton family (I think they still have majority share). Big in MN politics and uber leftys. Pretty sure them bailing will lose them all the woke points the trans bathrooms got them and then some.
Think they had some stuff recently that some of their past hiring practices weren't exactly the stuff of woke as well, which they tried to PR away by doing away with some of the background application stuff that helps a business maybe sort out some of the elements you might not want working a register.

Mysterious drones have been snooping on critical infrastructure in the US. I was just reading this at ZeroHedge -- story is near the top if interested.
This one happened at an airbase near Tucson, AZ. It seemed to be snooping on a fuel depot complex. The drone evaded helicopters sent after it.
There are other reports of this happening at nuclear power plants and other sensitive areas.

I'm only slightly familiar with the whole thing as it was one state over from me, and much of this happened when all of politics I knew was the State of the Union meant I had nothing to watch on TV as we only had the three options.
Uncle lived in MN, and we went there near Christmas and went to a Dayton store that was multi floored, but was a nice Christmas deco layout throughout going by my limited memory.

I had it trapped in the small downstairs bathroom, this was a noisy one. I've dealt w/ maybe 5 or 6 before in the 30 some yrs we've lived here. Often can chase them out an open window.
This time I'm recovering from major back surgery so was just not feeling up to do the capture myself. Called county animal control and they showed up and did a great job.
