Which is why I am kind of torn. Objectively, the left looks like they are on their last legs: they keep failing, they lost support of the public, they are going crazy extremist. But at the same time, they keep gaining power and control, both of government and culture.
I can't get a read on how this will turn out but I suspect it will be the worst.

I've said before that Antifa/BLM protests are a religious movement. These protests, in structure and purpose, share a lot of similarities with church services. They combine symbolism and ritual into a form of religious theater which binds the participants together, reaffirms a shared worldview and set of values, and serves to allow them to purify themselves. I remember how I used to believe this country was composed of nothing but inherently good people...how this was the country that my first grade class was picked to sing patriotic songs for Ronald Reagan during his visit to an historic restaraunt in my hometown in 82. The whole antifa thing the last few years has blown up any remaining vestiges of that ol timey feeling of unity. This great country of ours has turned into a cesspool of grievance groups and outright street terrorists, pillaging and destroying at will. Yeah, this is why I have been scarce lately, despite all of my fond thoughts about Ace and the cobloggers and the wonderful morons. Oh, I'm reading. But I am not moved to comment much. This slightly-post-Weimar America depresses me.
Which is not to say that I'm depressed. I've moved to the real America, I am absorbed in my family and my work and my hobbies, and it's all wonderful. But thinking about "President" Asterisk and the Big Cheat and the Brownshirts of the Left, highlighted here...well, it doesn't go anywhere good. I continue to believe that We The People will rescue the great thing that is America. But the darkest hour, that one we are living through now...it's hard to even find the incompetence funny any more.

The problem for everyone are the Blue cities in Red states. It is the only area where I've ever seen Republicans be proactive rather than reactive, and castrate the living hell out of them. I think that vice will tighten, and the D.C. junta will have to make a decision when and whether to intervene. That's where what will pass for a civil war will happen.

The political prisoners from 1/6 haven't even been indicted yet. The DOJ keeps telling the judges that the case are very complex and they aren't ready. Meanwhile these people are being kept in solitary confinement 23 hours a day and treats like shit. Claiming these people are dangerous or a flight risk and denying bail is ridiculous.
It is infuriating that they are being forgotten and punished, presumed guilty. This is so wrong on so many levels.
