BiteMe's speech undercut justification for passing the back breaking "Green New Deal".
This is what he said, according to a New York Times transcript of the president's remarks: "The United States accounts, as all of you know, for less than 15 percent of carbon emissions. Companies and CDL drivers had to register in the Clearinghouse by January 2020. Well everyone waited until January 2020. They finally said it crashed by March 2020. The Clearinghouse is another part of Big Brother's watchful eye on CDL drivers that don't pass a drug/alcohol random or required test. The purpose is so employers do not have to do employee verifications anymore also helpful when accidents occur. Not saying I don't agree the program but, I will be glad when I don't have to do employee verifications anymore.

Morning Horde.
9 hours away from never driving 2000 miles between OH and MT. Once I rest my 65 year old bones in MT I'm never leaving. The moving company screwed up big time and our pack and load was horrible. Hubby NEC stuck it out for the 13 1/2 hours it took to shuttle our worldly goods up our 450' driveway to the 53' tractor trailer. Last load went out at 11:20pm. He drove our John Deere Gator up the road to the moving van in a cold rain and in the dark on a busy country road. He's now sick. Who could have guessed that would happen. GM of moving company called me yesterday to ask how he could make things better. Well maybe you should have listened to your packing/moving crew who told you it was a 3 day job not 2. Making things better, that ship has sailed. I expect a reduction on my bill. Posted by: neverenoughcaffeine at May 01, 2021 06:47 AM (YiCkI) 158

Haha. Nah, it's just the idiocy of FedEx. I swear, they live to keep you on your toes. Not the worst experience we've had with them.
Just had a fight with them over a stupid tile sample - the driver refused to deliver to our business and the CS claimed the package had never been on the truck. We have video of this guy at the building, package in hand, turning around before reaching our gate. Because, he had been by the day before and the gate was locked then (on the one day when we were unmanned for five minutes!). Didn't leave a door hanger, since, why bother? Complained on Day Two. Third day? He drove by without stopping. On camera. Tracking said package was out for delivery. Same driver. The CS said WE were lying and refused to do anything. Sent in a complaint with screenshots and had the package routed to a nearby FedEx store. Took a frickin week to get a stupid tile. I don't expect that to happen with my bass, hopefully. Really wish senders would let you pick shipping companies. Posted by: soulpile at May 01, 2021 07:11 AM (hiX0r) 200

200 Captain, when I was a little kid and we had moved to Warren, Mom would take me to downtown Cleveland on the train and do some shopping. It took us about two hours, counting walking to the Warren station and getting off at the Terminal Tower. That same trip today would be routed through Columbus and take a day and a half. It would also cost $300 and they would lose money.

Raising taxes is old and busted. The new hotness is to just type some new numbers into a keyboard and make it so the government now has twice (or 10x, or 50x, or 1000x) the number of dollars it had before you started typing.
That way no Congresscritter has to "vote for new taxes", which tends to piss off the rubes. Instead, the rube's carefully-saved dollars now buy 1/2, or 1/10, or 1/50, or 1/1000 of the goods and services they previously did, and you can just blame "inflation", as if it were an unavoidable force of nature. Apparently the tyrannical cowards have learned a lesson from drill sergeants - and then fucked it up to make it evil. The drill sergeant would declare a certain performance goal and if the whole unit didn't achieve this goal, then the whole unit will be required to do something distasteful, but the odds of having to do it and it needing to be done were both very high. Evil today: Impose some sort of arbitrary restriction, or in this case a humiliating, damaging and harmful condition, then demand a performance from the whole population. The goal in both cases is to sit back and let those who are under this command to fight it out among themselves. In this case the team-building exercise should best result in a mutiny. Right. Considering how many people seem to think it's a "good deal" for the government to put $7,000 on your credit card, hand out $5,800 to their cronies, then give you a check for $1,200 of it... Dopey Joe is probably gonna have to fork out another token check if he wants to get his "infrastructure" grift passed. Posted by: Rodrigo Borgia at May 01, 2021 07:57 AM (JZT2F) 302

I remember some congresscritter whose career evolved on not sponsoring bills and voting no on everything. I guess the theory was there was always something not to like in a bill, and it was easier to 'splain the no vote. May have been Paul the elder.
