Posted by: Aetius451AD at May 03, 2021 08:27 AM (lmikk)

10 This would look great in my dining room, but something seems ... off about it. Too green, maybe. But there's also no direct sunlight, so the green of the surrounding landscape would permeate the mist. But it looks borderline surreal. If there's little enough light to make everything that green, there'd be little detail. With that much detail, there should be more light and therefore better color definition.

It's a little bit weird.

When I was car shopping the first vehicle presented was a sporty red. I didn't fit well in it and knew the color would hike insurance rates so it was rejected. The new BroTimMobile is the same shade of white half the cars on the road are these days. (I also fit well in it. Not quite as spacious as the truck was, but hey, no complaints!)

That's harsh.

But it seems the market has so many of them, the values aren't that high, if you can find someone with an original willing to part with one.

In the rare cases that you do manage to find an authentic Bob Ross painting, Joan Kowalski, president of Bob Ross Inc., expects it to sell for at least $8,000 to $10,000.

Perhaps, but I reckon its much less of a risk than the 75% of cars on the road that are the color of dusk represent. Automatic headlamps are perhaps the greatest new (in terms of people common) safety feature of the past 20 years. A whole lot of cars vanish to near invisibility at twilight.

Ummm, the vaccines came out at the very end of the Trump administration. Initial distribution was limited because supplies were limited. We're +6 months from initial release now and production has ramped up to where it is feasible to widely distribute it. More than infrastructure, time was likely the biggest factor (and the infrastructure and system was present - Trump put it into place).

CNN is counting on an absence of logic and skepticism. They, like everyone who depends on that absence, will not be disappointed.

But there's also no direct sunlight, so the green of the surrounding landscape would permeate the mist. But it looks borderline surreal. It's a little bit weird.

348 January 6. The original Wildprotest.com site is long gone and all traces of it are gone from the internet. It is not in the wayback machine. It is just gone.

But that was the original plan. 130 pm at the Capitol. On the SCOTUS side of the capitol.

This protest did not happen. It was overridden by two other events - one on the afternoon of the 5th, and then another the morning of the 6th on the Mall between the Washingotn monument and the White House. This is the one that President Trump spoke to.

There was planned direct action that occurred that day. There were definitely agent provocateurs from antifa, and also likely some from what is nominally the right but certainly not Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, or III Percenters.

I just started and the second episode where people build credits on the exercise bikes and try out for 'Top Star' seems like the perfect analogy for conservative pundits.

Well it's comforting garbage for many, the idea that a Trump restoration is right around the corner, supplemented by the stupidity that Trump is behind all the BS in order to expose corruption. It's the stuff of over the top political thrillers, right up there with Rosenstein and Barr being "white hats".
It's hard to believe that corruption and deceit have replaced the rule of law, but there it is.

And the lower level Trump appointments still remain essentially blacklisted with help from neither Trump nor the GOP.

444 The painting, nobody's noticed how it's dark and Mirkwood-ish at the bottom but has a bright blue sky at the top.

Also, the right-click full-sized version is sharper. The shrunk one on the page is blurry.

ABC News
@ABC
23% of Americans think the country has become more united since Pres. Biden took office, according to a new @ABC News/Ipsos poll. Among this group, an overwhelming 87% give Biden credit.

Wow, talk about burying the lede.

13% of that 23% *don't* credit Biden... meaning they think we're actually more united and they're *not* just mindless Economist readers repeating what they're told....

451 White is a solid, 70s car color. It sometimes comes back, but I think white cars were in their heyday in the 70s.

Unless you are in Texas. Seriously.
It is a have to have color for outdoor parking.

You can get ~35% of people to agree that the moon is made of cheese in a poll, so that's not the win for Biteme that ABC probably thinks it is.

462 99 I sometimes think 'kitsch' is used by modern art dudes to say 'Representational'. Not the way I use the word, but these people would look at the David and say it is too traditional.

Well, yeah. They all went to art college and pose for each other and believe the purpose of art is to be "shocking". So puking in a paper bag and putting it on a pedestal is GENiUS, and actually having art skills that allow you to create a representation is as lame as Grandpa playing Home on the Range on his little keyboard in retirement.
