Your Friends at Major League Baseball Are Attacking the Citizens and Economy of Georgia on Behalf of the Democrat Party and Their Radical Racist Election-Rigging Activist Base

Because the perp in what I'm calling "The Capitol Vehicular Insurgency" is black, this is officially not a Major National Story, so I'm moving on.

Like CNN and MSNBC and the NYT and NPR and ABC and NBC and CBS and the Washington Post and AP and Reuters and Bloomberg all are.

Here's your daily reminder that we are all feeding your enemies who want to harass, imprison, dominate and kill you:

Screenshot (330).png

Say, remember when the NBA bullied, what was it, North Carolina over not banning trans bathrooms -- no, not even that far -- but merely banning localities from making trans bathrooms the law imposed on businesses?

TO KILL THE BEAST YOU MUST FIRST STARVE THE BEAST.

On the topic of the Corporatist/Statist Tyranny, Ron DeSantis has signed a bill forbidding corporations for requiring a vaccine "passport" to use their services.

Gov. DeSantis issued a wide-ranging order on Friday banning all businesses and government entities in the state from requiring a "vaccination passport," or documented proof of vaccination for the coronavirus.

The order comes as some events and businesses had already started to implement some form of proof of vaccination, including a South Florida festival and the Miami Heat.

It was also unclear how such an order would work with nationwide or international businesses such as theme parks, cruise lines and airlines.

Reminder: You can't spell "MLB" without "BLM:"

Lee Smith
@LeeSmithDC

Donít forget: MLB supports a violent movement that laid waste to the small business bases of cities that support MLB franchises. These are arrogant and sinister people who run this league.

No, but they're betting that you - Joe MuhSports - are either too hooked on juiceball to quit or too lazy to cancel your season tickets or your cable MLB package.

And even if you do - well, there are plenty of bars and airports and other businesses that will still have sports on, so they'll still get their money.

Protests would get their attention - surround, say, Fenway Park and throw rotten eggs at the players as they arrive and harrass the attendees; treat them as scabs. Conversely, if season ticket holders all across the country rose up en masse and cancelled their tix, perhaps that would wake these racist bastards up.

But, for too many people, MUH SPORTS! uber alles.

Asked the lady why and she said the hospital requires it. I told her what happens if I get the covid in the two days before I come back after I got the test. Did not get an answer.

120 Eh, LeBron James is now part owner of the Boston Red Sox. Let's see how that plays out. . . oh:

LeBron James won't be a hands-off co-owner of the Boston Red Sox, according to Fenway Sports Group chairman Tom Werner. . . Werner said he would be surprised if the Los Angeles Lakers superstar and his longtime business partner Maverick Carter don't weigh in on the management decisions of both the Red Sox and Liverpool FC, the two flagship teams owned by FSG.
-
"We want to feel that the Red Sox are an inclusive place where everybody feels welcome," Werner told The Athletic. "And while that may seem like an obvious notion today, the Red Sox have had a very complicated history when it comes to race relations. We work very hard to create a more diverse and inclusive organization from top to bottom. And I'm excited that LeBron and Maverick are owners of the Boston Red Sox because I believe this helps provide better representation of baseball to our fans."
-
To that end, James and Carter have indicated that they also hope to help advance that cause.

Been saying this a lot lately - I see you don't meet or greet much with those who run businesses - private or public. I, unfortunately, have had to from time to time. It goes like this;

The guy that builds it from nothing ? That's his life's work - he often takes care of that business better than his own family. The guy that takes over from him ? Sometimes you get the heir that cares. Sometimes you get the heir that could give a shit less. But the absolute worst is the guy that looked at what the founder built and thought to himself "I want to get myself in charge of that. Because I can USE that."

And that's how it really works.

176 Well the other issue is that in general people don't buy sports franchises to make money, they do it for prestige. There are always exceptions - Jeffrey Loria certainly seemed to care more about the bottom line than anything else, leading to a franchise that has multiple WS rings but zero prestige.

It's not just businesses. Any institution eventually becomes filled with people who learn to game the system rather than advance through actual accomplishments. Which is why occasionally you need destruction for the sake of destruction.
I stick with my analogy that the US, and the West in general, is a corporation whose founders have been replaced by new management who have systematically looted the company while implementing failed policies and bad investments. They managed to go on for a while thanks to a large amount of social, economic, and cultural capital that had been accumulated, but now that's gone, they're massively overleveraged, and they're trying to pull whatever shady short-term shit they can to keep the shareholders from figuring out the truth before the leadership can bail.

190 I gave up baseball last year when they made the jump from pastime to leftist agitation. Giving up the NBA and NFL was easy - I don't like the game of football or basketball. Apparently the NHL hopped on the lefty wagon as well, but I don't follow hockey, so whatever. Baseball, though...that one hurt. It was a difficult choice, but it had to be made. They received none of my dollars last year.
But, baseball was the one professional sport that had a chance to worm their way back into my life.

The choice to not give them any of my dollars going forward after today, though? Super easy.

For the value of your dollar the local franchises, as you'd expect, are where entertainment bucks should go. The local team here, Savannah Bananas, really puts on a good game and they give season ticket holders lots of perks. And the games are a walking distance from a good portion of the fan's homes. My take - a lot of Exec. suites and boardrooms are filled with worthless POS people necessary to deflect flak and get in good with the right people. I saw this rise over the decades, first in HR with the kind of people who could not pour piss out of a boot telling the other departments who to hire, how to train, and all that BS.

In the 90s onward, the boards became filled with people who had connections and could get in with gov. and have some influence over regulations.

Really, they are party cadre or "political officers" without the formality. Thing is though, they have power and influence in the company. I have worked in industries which are very competitive and cyclical (semiconductor and display) and during the regular downturns they are reigned in, but in industries where gov. provides guaranteed perpetual positive growth I think it is worse.

356 Time was when I could enjoy sports. Yeah, I know many people here frown upin such things out of sheer snobbery, but I enjoyed watching the games and following the teams. Sports were a simple way for me to unplug my brain from other things and focus on less serious items in life, and to see games I played executed on a professional level.
But, now they decided to inject political commentary into sports at every turn, there's no incentive for me to watch any longer. So it's easier than one thinks.

One of my favorites. Fun trivia time!
"Garbage" was put together by Butch Vig and his buddies, most of whom were also producers as well as musicians. This is one of the reasons they sound so damn good - they know what they're doing on production.

Anyway, they knew they wanted a female frontwoman, and preferably one who could help with songwriting. They wanted Toni Halliday of Curve fame, but she turned them down because she learned after Curve broke out and hit some modest fame that she hated being famous and hated touring. That's a problem for a group that wants to be big. So they were in a bind.

Then they were hanging out together and watching "120 Minutes" on MTV and saw the video for "Suffocate Me" by the essentially unknown Scottish outfit called "Angelfish." It's a cool track and they called up *that* front woman to see if she was interested. That woman was Shirley Manson, and the music video is here:

448 MLB doesn't realize that if enough (2 or 3?) red-state, big-market cities tell them to take a walk, everything in their cartel crashes. If there's not enough big-market cities to move a team to... no fans, no cross-state rivalry, etc, etc.

tl;dr - Yes, they *can* be starved and forced back to the table.
Posted by: Two Weeks at April 02, 2021 02:52 PM (ELnqd)

In general, the only big money value in a sports team is 1. Selling it; or 2. Getting a nice free stadium where you can sell luxury boxes. If there's no demand for a team in another city/state, that kinda wipes out #1. And if the state/municipality won't give you a boatload of money, you can't make anything off of #2, either.
So yes, if cities and states don't show any interest in having your team, owners will start changing their tunes on some of this stuff.

454 Don't want to be an apologist for MLB, but it didn't have a chance here. The owners are, collectively, a pack of idiots. Their mismanagement is going to destroy MLB, but that may end up being good for the sport overall. A battle with the players union looms after the season, and the owners will lose. Hugely, because they are serial fucling liars who took advantage of the players during the last negotiating round 5 years or so ago. The players won't leg it happen again and are going to clean the owners clock. So, the owners are kissing fed government's as to try somehow to improve their vanishing leverage. Ds may have leaned on Manfred and the owners a bit rattling the end of antitrust exemption sword, but they hardly had to. The owners are fucked, and this is a sad attempt to ingratitude themselves with the feds to get favorable rulings from NLRB, courts, etc next year. Won't work, which makes it even more pathetic. MLB is run by utter fools.

470 Profitable companies quickly fill with people who look for problems.

HR spend most of their time creating a crisis which needs to be addressed by hiring more staff. Things like new regulations or legal issues. HR lawyers hold seminars with their big clients telling them about current topics, and then the HR managers run back to the office and pump out memos about inclusivity programs and exposure to hostile workplace liability because there are no vegan options in the candy machine. And when there is a lawsuit, these people have the full attention of the execs since nothing puts the numbers at risk like potential liability.

Same with the regulatory groups - environmental, workplace safety, product regulations, etc. They all look for trouble to justify their existence. Us grunts designing and building the products are an afterthought. And now, with more and more stuff made in China, US companies are nothing but hollow shells filled with deadwood and political officers.

Mmhmm. You can also look at the US as a nation whose throne has been usurped by agents of a foreign power. The reason for optimism is that the broad population retains quite a bit in common culturally, and the large part of the LIVs have no or negative support for the ongoing war against American Christians. You could get rid of a relatively small number of elites and potentially salvage the country. Trump did an amazing job in this respect, with relatively limited power.

Hate to have to break it to you, and it's gonna sux if you like to get a little "strange" every once in a while.

But you're going to have to foreswear wankin' it with your left paw, because everything on the Left has gotta go. Unless you're a natural left-hander, and then you get a pass. Kind of. Until you need a pair or scissors or such. (inside knowledge.. when I installed the new kitchen sink & industrial overhead sprayer, I set up all the controls on the left side, so The Real Iris could more easily come to grips with it. Yeah, she's left handed. But she's NOT a lefty, IYKWIM.)

For instance, "The MLB has a diversity problem."

Posted by: Soothsayer's Untrue But Accurate Tales at April 02, 2021 03:10 PM (BTJ/x)

563 397 MLB doesn't realize that if enough (2 or 3?) red-state, big-market cities tell them to take a walk, everything in their cartel crashes. If there's not enough big-market cities to move a team to... no fans, no cross-state rivalry, etc, etc.

One big reason I never understood the switch of the Astros to the Fake Baseball League was precisely the possibility of having an all-TX WS at some point. Not to mention that, back before interleague play became a thing, my father, a big Cards fan, would go to Houston to catch Cardinals games. (Hence ultimately my Astros fandom back in the day). So you had one Fake Baseball League team and one NL team in TX to pick from. I thiught that worked nicely. But then, MLB had to remind me they have been run by dumbasses for decades now.

610 578 I guess it's too much to ask with a moral panic raging, but what exactly is supposed to be horrible about the GA bill?

Pretty sure plenty of states already have similar laws on the book regarding voter IDs, drinks/food at the polling places, limits on absentee voting. So it seems like it is literally just the partisan aspect at play - the GA Dems don't like so it becomes this new moral crusade that everyone from soft drinks to game players has to pretend matters.
Posted by: The Ghost of Pandemic Present at April 02, 2021 03:12 PM (dYe5S)

Especially when the bill follows guidelines wholeheartedly endorsed the the party with the sole, exclusive right to rule the United States as it, and it alone, sees fit. To include the current ruler, back when he was a Senator.

Somehow I really don't give a fvck anymore, even though I loved going to Braves games back in the early 90's when they actually had talent and won.

Now? I'm not gonna make a 3 hour drive to watch a bunch of subpar rookies choke and I'm even less inclined to watch the 'All-Stars' call it in for a meaningless game. Baseball is on life support because if they wat to shiv me I f'in retaliate now.

Makes the globalists have to work harder in '22 to keep the Senate seat they stole and in '24 to keep the state "blue". They'll still do it, but in the end they're lazy shits so they'll whine about having to actually work.

The times killed Metallica. Genres change. I liked The Black Album quite a bit. If Metallica kept thrashing like Kill 'Em All ? Nobody goes - the young thrashers get too old and the new kids don't thrash.

And you can't put a "One" down on every album. Those songs just don't happen every session.
