The Morning Report - 4/2/21 [J.J. Sefton]

Good morning, kids. Friday and the weekend is here. In trying to get a higher altitude perspective on the situation we face one element that pops up no matter where you look is Red China. For at least the past 30 years, they've been infiltrating every aspect of our society from government to business to academia in an effort to destabilize us by sowing disunity, discord and discontent. They've conducted and continue to conduct one of the most massive spying operations to obtain everything from trade secrets, patents and intellectual property all the way up to the most sensitive, advanced defense technology. For all their ballyhooed prowess in all of those areas, the reality is the Chi-Coms have gotten ahead the old fashioned way: they stole it. And they are well on their way to stealing the world. Hell, the filthy bastards proudly admit it:

"That's why our Foreign Minister Yang [Jiechi] and Wang [Yi] could be so tough when they talked to the United States. [They thought] you have no right to talk to us in this way."

It's easy to make them the bogeyman for all of our ills. But the sad, undeniable truth is that the Chi-Coms could not have gotten where they are today without the eager help of fellow citizens who stabbed us in the back and sold us out. First and foremost is our political class including the Bushes and Clintons who gave these Mongoloids most favored nation trading status and a seat at the WTO as well as outright engineering the transfer of defense technology that "Great Leap Forwarded" their nuclear arsenal from 20 years behind us to parity in one fell swoop.

It's easy to understand how brainwashing a couple of generations of our youth to hate this, the greatest nation that ever was - and as of this writing tragically is no more. And now, the concentration camp-running, organ-harvesting, slave-labor driving filthy, degenerate Chi-Coms are stomping all over us for "human rights violations" and aiding and abetting the BLM blood-libeling of America - while Tony freaking Blinken the alleged secretary of state agrees with them! But, Psaki-circling back, speaking of shameless plagiarists, what excuse does Joe Biden and his contemporaries have? Yeah, I get it. They're greedy and crave power. But those his age and older, in particular those who weren't raised as red diaper babies but in the steel and coal belts (allegedly in Joe's case) should know the difference between George Meaney and Pol Pot. And yet, "Xi Jinping is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life"... in a numbered Swiss account, please.

Naturally, the younger generations, whose souls have been destroyed by consuming the poisoned fruit from the tree planted by Herbert Marcuse, Antonio Gramsci et al, have no qualms at all about jumping in bed with Worldwide Fang-Fang Bang-Bang because they've been preprogrammed to hate America since way before the Chi-Coms were even a factor. Nearly 40 years ago, a KGB defector by the name of Yuri Bezmenov predicted the very situation we find ourselves in now and laid out exactly how the overthrow of our society would happen because the plan was put in motion even before that interview.

So, in the grand scheme of things, the chicken and egg story of Chi-Com infiltration or Leftist self-loathing really doesn't matter all that much. Now that the wolf is at our throat, with the eager help of the Zuckerbergs, Dorseys, Bezos and Buffetts, whatever the Bidens and Obamas can't destroy or goniff is going to get egg-rolled into a mass grave.

And then your own country - a country you betrayed through offshoring in pursuit of a pipe dream, but your country nonetheless - does nothing about it through a toxic brew of cowardice and avarice.

This is no longer true in the general sense. They stole - and got away with stealing - for long enough to develop some of their own expertise in a lot of industries. They can design, too. They're not wonderfully good at it on average, but in a human capital numbers game they have such vast reservoirs of people that in absolute numbers they can muster a lot of expertise.

But military hardware is harder. There was less to steal, since those industries are defended. That shortcut is less effective, especially in naval and aviation spaces. While they have heavy industry, they don't have a vast shipping industry - most of that is in Europe and Korea, with a lot of expertise (though not capacity) locked up here. More secrets in aviation, too.

I used to live in NY's Southern Tier. I visited a lot of the Southern Tier and Central New York. Less so up in places like Albany and Buffalo, but I've spent a fair amount of time in Syracuse and Rochester and Binghamton and Corning and places between.

They are beautiful tracts of once-productive industrial territory that have become post-industrial wastelands over the past fifty years. They are depressed places that have lost nearly everything due to bad policy, corruption thievery and short-sightedness at all levels. It's a tragedy and a human disaster.

I want close to 50 Trillion in spending. However, I want to pay for it. We need a one time reset to accomplish big things. Two of the items that need the major reset to do is changing from an income based tax system to a Fair Tax consumption tax system. The other is changing from a government owned Social Security system to individual owned retirement accounts.

These major changes can only be made during a full reset. Also, if we continue on this path of trillions in spending without changing the tax structure from income to consumption, hyper inflation will occur.

Ithaca is where I lived (well, Tompkins County, which is dominated by Ithaca). It is a great example of what happens when universities metastasize in small towns. Of all the insanity and inanity I saw there, two things take the cake. One was a house with a flagpole that had flying - from bottom to top - the Flag of the State of New York, the Flag of the United States and then at the top was the banner of the United Nations.

I also saw a Volvo 850 wagon with edge-to-edge bumper sticker, that said in white capital letters on a red background, "Make Living Wage Jobs Not War" - like the Oval Office has a big cartoon lever with "living wage jobs" on one end and "war" on the other that the president can set as he pleases.

Yes. I would read the instructions and it would say "Driver's License or state-issued ID number," likely with a graphical cut-out to show you exactly where to look. Because that's how instructions work. I just moved and have been through a lot of ID bullshit and the instructions were always so clear that anyone even marginally literate could easily figure it out. It is one of the things about which I would say the state did a good job. And even beyond that, one of those is clearly a document number in the main data field and the other is obviously a control number that is tucked away in a corner so it doesn't get in the way.

But there are no better angels involved, and we have disagreed on this since the beginning. Paying them $5m a year won't make a difference. The *real* money - whatever the base pay is - is in corruption. Only sunlight can change that. We could pay everyone in the HoR millions per year and it won't change their behavior because there is much more - in terms of both money and the even more important influence - flowing under ground. They all want to dip in.

There's a lot of speculation on that being why Clemson struggled like they did against Ohio State in the playoffs, and IIRC Ohio State even publicly stated that they were going with strategies at the QB level and huddling to prevent it. Clemson has never been shy admitting that it's perfectly legal and they do it, and this short season with limited attendance likely threw a monkey wrench in that element of their game.

I'm sure everyone does it to some degree, but when you make it a prominent part of your coaching strategy it's going to bite you in the ass no matter how talented your players are.

I first noticed it with hillshire farms kielbasa and smoked beef sausage. Went from a full pound at 16 ounces to 14 ounces and then to 12 ounce for the beef smoked sausage. The price went up and the size went down. The Fed does not take that into account. Walmart did it for a while too. Their one pound packages of 80/20 hamburger went to 14 ounces for a time. That lasted for almost a year in my area.

They do take that into account in the CPI, then they adjust it away. They do this in two major ways. First, they create tranches of good - things like "core CPI ex food and energy." Then they do "hedonic adjustments" which is where the real power is. A great example is televisions.

In 2000, a 27" TV set with a CRT and standard definition was about $400. In 2020, a 48" TV set with a flat screen, LED backlighting and 4k resolution was about $400. The new TV according to the model is, say 4x better than the old TV. Thus, after the adjustment is applied, the price of televisions decreased by 75% - and it comes right out of CPI-U.
