Quarantine Cafe: We Should All Try to Disconnect Tonight Edition

Fox rescued from fur farm wants to be friends with everyone.

Capybara meets some dogs.

More capybaras being cute.

Kitten is very happy to see her dog big brother come home.

Relax tonight like this squirrel is relaxing.

Cat is obsessed with watching the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.

Cat introduces her two kittens to a neighborhood dog she seems to know.

Rescuing baby rhinos, which are a lot cuter than you might guess.

I posted this last night, but it's really good: husky puppy has weirdest way of talking.

The corgis are teaching the baby to be a corgi:

Woman rescues all the dogs that no one wants:

82 Interesting that for "Zulu" they had to use modified Enfields for some of the soldiers, as they didn't have enough authentic Martini-Henry rifles. And the officers' revolvers were era-inappropriate Webleys.

An incredible wealth of utterly useless yet interesting gunz trivia in movies to be found at ifdb-dot-com.

Recently rewatched "Zulu" myself via library DVD. Brief internet searches did not yield info on something I thought was true - the kind depicted in the movie was played by Buthelezi, the (then) current day Zulu political chief, who was a direct descendant of the leader depicted in the movie.

140 Well one inappropriate chupacabra-free comment and then on to other stuff.

Senate has confirmed, 98-2, a woman for #2 at DOJ. She is one of the worst of the legions of vile politicized drones from the Obama years, and the Trump years, when she was a big "RUSSIA!" propagandist (and Mueller staff chief) and public poison-vendor on TV (Lisa Monaco).

Of course it's kind of a norm. You'll recall all those 98-2 confirmations of very qualified, professional, non-political-hack-nominees of Trump's the last 4 years.

(and another likely very dirty soft coup participant from the DOJ that attempted to block/then hobble Trump, Carlin, is back at DOJ in a senior position; those who describe the results of the anti-Trump coup and consequent "investigations" as a 100% victory for the bad guys, and a complete hollowing out of our institutions, should stop underselling the situation so badly - it's a disservice, really)

Which portion of it? I received the refund I was expecting based on my income. When I (electronically) filed using TurboTax, they noted I was not paid some of the covid-related award, which they added to my computed refund. I also received that.

What I have not yet received was a refund now due because unemployment income is now not taxable (at the fed level up to some limits) as passed by the lasted Covid handouts.

Because any taxpayer gets a letter from the RIS immediately wonders what the hell it might be.

Jack Finney (writer of Invasion of the Body Snatchers) had a thing for time travel stories (one inspired Somewhere In Time) and one of them (I can't remember the title) concerned a "lost" subway platform in NYC, where, if you stumbled on it at just the right time, you could get on the train and end up back in 1900. Of course, once you got there, you couldn't go back.

372 Notsothoreau, I am just dreaming right now, hub's health won't permit a move, but I keep telling myself someday...

Well...it was fun reading the content while it lasted.

376 DDS, I'm sort of in the same boat. We HAVE to be close to a hospital but good Lord I would love to live out in the sticks somewhere.

You're so right. Rescues have so much more character than pure-bred blogs from a breeder.

378 Debby DS,

I've been dreaming for a couple of years now. Determined to make it happen this year.

379 Jewells,

Johnson City has a good hospital. That's why it is so popular. All the development seems to be going on there. Prices have gone up too.

380 Well the old forum is back, YAY!

382 Current events reminds me of the non fiction book This Was Andersonville. At some point in Sherman's march South, on of the tower guards called out the time...

"It's 9 o-clock and Savana's burnt to hell."

Welp. It's 8:45 and Minneapolis is burnt to shit. (I don't really know, just guessing, don't give enoigh of a shit to look and see.)

383 Jewells45 - same with us. Mrs TP's doctors at Cleveland Clinic have told us they will be happy to do the telemed thing - her blood work really can be done anywhere so that isn't a limiting factor.

I have to live out - I'm done with built up areas.

Hey black people, Playstation and Sony support you sitting on your asses and playing video games all day instead of going to class or showing up for work.
