It's supposed to reach the mid-70s here this afternoon so a couple friends and I plan to take a nice walk on our preferred walking trail. Then we will set up our lawn chairs and chat for an hour or so. Sounds pretty boring, yes? But we haven't done this since the beginning of October. We used to take our walk, then go to a coffee shop to visit.
Another couple of friends and I are planning to go out to dinner -- if we can find someplace that is actually open, rather than take-out only -- because all three of us are now fully vaccinated. We used to do this once a month. The restaurant my stitching group used to meet at once a month is still closed, take-out only. We've tried twice to meet at a park, and both times the wind was blowing so hard we could barely hold onto our food much less actually stitch. Hopefully, we can try again next Sunday. Two weeks to bend the curve, my ass. Posted by: Captain Josepha Sabin, clinging bitterly to a deplorable life at April 03, 2021 08:21 AM (efX5n) 52

There are limited policy choices if you want a better functioning country. Because the underlying mechanisms to success are similar. However, if you want a country destroyed, there are plenty of bad choices for policy. The barbarians in office today seem determined to find every bad policy choice around. Almost every organization has gone woke. They don't care if the issue is real or not, they know where their bread is buttered. The Left will destroy you and conservatives can't get a handle on all of this as it is happening so fast. Most states require an ID, or at least they did even a few years ago. Other major nations require an ID to vote, but the dumskulls that we put out never consider other nations. All they know is their nation is bad, and nothing else matters.
Funny that the PGA Tour and PGA said nothing about The Masters. They don't run it, they are lucky to have it and they know it. They said nothing because they are cowards. Posted by: Quint at April 03, 2021 09:42 AM (2veAp) 246

Technically, if you buy a ticket from someone, they can take it and send you off. The person who actually received the ticket will get banned for life it they catch you. Posted by: Anonosaurus Wrecks, Tyrannosaur Wrangler at April 03, 2021 09:48 AM (VVEnO) opinions vary but they are based on personal experience, not legit understanding of the situation. Things have changed over the years as the American culture has become even more bifrucated. But there was a reason golf used to be on every weekend. Even with low viewership numbers, they charged way, way more than a football baseball commercial. The reality was the viewers were more wealthy, and spent more. The same reason why today PGA Tour players sport the names of banks, and accountants as logos, and not so much golf companies. I fully understand those that don't get it. But part of understanding the world is to go outside yourself. I posted in just the last thread a video of every Dem Leader and Repub leader fawning over Jack Nicklaus. There was a reason for that. They didn't do it because they thought it would be a nice thing to do for some obscure person. Posted by: Quint at April 03, 2021 09:55 AM (2veAp) 267

Sven,
Yes you can make acorn flour! But you have to leach the tannin out of the acorns first. You soak them in water for awhile, then dry and grind into flour. There was a self published book in the 70s on it. And they make good pig feed. The sisters from Ecuador, who are aged three and five, were dumped over the border wall just west of Mt. Cristo Rey, New Mexico, on Tuesday night. The girls were rescued by agents soon after and taken to the Santa Teresa Border Patrol Station for medical evaluation. An image has now emerged of them interacting with El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez as they were given snacks at the processing center. Disturbing footage released by border patrol showed the moment the girls were dropped, one after another, over the 14-ft barrier in the middle of the night. Immediately after the girls landed on the ground, two smugglers could be seen fleeing on the Mexican side of the border. Posted by: will choose a nic later at April 03, 2021 10:02 AM (r4bSV) 290

So, that inescapable conclusion begs the question: where to start?
