Per the sidebar item, sandbag training is about the best I've found for grip strength. All those doohickeys you can buy to strengthen your grip are not as good as manual labor. One guy I know who could crush your hand accidently in a handshake was navy ship machinist. Using wrenches, spanners, plyers, Bridgeport mills for years gave him herculean hand muscles. When I worked for shipping company moving boxes I built up my hands pretty good too.
But now I'm older 29+ I took some sandbags that were holding down my kids practice keyboard stand and use those like a kettle weight. One hand, two hand pulls and swings. 50-100 pounds are good for starting. They're hard to hold onto and that builds the strength if you stick with it. Arthritis sucks though, just starting to feel the beginnings of that. Posted by: banana Dream at December 30, 2020 11:26 AM (l6b3d) 117

I want to make them, but use dryer lint. The stuff is light and combustible. But the wax makes it into a big blob. Dryer lint + vaseline Stuff into lengths of drinking straw, with the ends crimped and melted to seal it up. Keeps things neat and clean, just slice open with a blade. I've done bunches of those to stick into Altoid tin fire kits. Posted by: DOCTOR! IllTemperedCur at December 30, 2020 11:51 AM (EGyGV) 271

Things that couldn't be made now: we just finished watching the Nero Wolfe Mysteries, and that would be out now. Too male, too sophisticated, a fat detective devoted to books and traditional Western culture.
We started in on a series my (leftist) sister recommended: the Miss Fisher Mysteries. It *sounded* good - an Australian flapper who solves mysteries in 1920s Australia. But it's the same old woke crapola - abortion rights, a butch lady doctor, a Catholic maid who's basically a retard, sassy whore heroine with a tragic childhood backstory. One episode was all I could stand. Guess it's back to the old Miss Marple dvds tonight. Posted by: Dr. Mabuse at December 30, 2020 11:58 AM (NB7mI) 312
