Harris Faulkner offered a canned statement about the censorship incident without mentioning George Soros or explaining WHY FoxNews now has a policy of censoring mention of him. She avoided the controversy by pretending this was only about showing respect to the 'beloved" Newt Gingrich, and dishonestly spins a controversy about censorship and protecting a hard leftwing communist subversive billionaire as one about mere politeness to Newt Gingrich. Melissa Francis, the one who actually demanded Newt shut up did not comment and was not even on screen when Harris Faulkner read the Corporate PR message.Does she disagree? Does she continue to insist "we don't have to talk about George Soros"? Was this about an overzealous "fact-checker" whispering in this dummy's ear? If so, why do they refuse to say so? Do they not want to admit they are constantly being told what to say by less telegenic progressive producers and fact-checkers? This isn't about "being mean to Newt Gingrich," assholes. This is about the hard left turn daytime Fox has taken since the Li'l Murdochs came into power. And since Paul Ryan was put on the board.

I saw a Daily Beast (I think) article on the Gingrich/Soros thing, and
it was very illuminating in revealing the bias of the report. Gingrich
was 'dog-whistling' by mentioning Soros, and he eventually 'literally
shrugged off' Melissa Francis' comment.
Very insidious.
And, it is really a 'dog-whistle' when you outright say what Soros is doing?

It took a while, but now Soros's name is become more common knowledge. It is probably really p*ssing him and his family off. As his son is taking over after his not too soon death.
He always hid in the shadows and had protection. Maybe, like many, he works with intel as a spy to protect himself, or something like that. 330 million population of USA
That's 0.45% of the population
That's 1 person out of 225 who has it.
How many people does the average person know among family, friends and coworkers? Probably less than 225.
Thus, not too many people are even going to know anyone with it. Unless they are in an area where the percentage is higher (i.e. NYC).
Here in Michigan, the infection rate as of a few weeks ago was 0.98% of Michigan's 9.98mil population. So basically 1 out of every 100 people.
I don't know 100+ people. Probably interact regularly with maybe 25 or so. Less now that I am no longer in the office.
I do know quite a few people among family and coworkers who said they had some really nasty illness in January and in hindsight they think maybe it had been COVID-19. But they got over it and never got tested, so who knows.
I also have friends and coworkers who said they got sick and thought they maybe had COVID-19, but got tested and it ended up being something else, not COVID-19.

If you look at all of the "debunking" articles on Soros, they fail to mention that Soros helped locate Jewish property for the NAZIs and in an interview said it was the best time of his life.
They all love to debunk the claims that Soros was pictured in a NAZI uniform or that he was an official member of the party.
It's like the old "Al Gore said he invented the internet" factcheck. They love to point out he didn't use that exact phrase, but usually neglect to point out he said functionally equivalent words.

There is an inflection point. Institutionally, this doesn't happen as much (though that is sadly changing, especially in largely dividend-free Silicon Valley) but it is very real for individuals. I call it the "six stages of wealth."
1. Poverty. You do not have enough money to live.
2. Poor. You have enough money to live, but nothing else.
3. Middle. You have enough money to live, have some nice things, and save some for the future.
4. Near-rich. You have enough money to live a nice, comfortable life. You have some money socked away. Unemployment is inconvenient, not an existential threat.
5. Rich. You have your "fuck you money" and do basically whatever you want within reason, however modestly.
6. Scorekeeping. It ain't about the money anymore, it's about keeping score against other people in the other scenario.
The dangerous ones who care not about money are the scorekeepers. Not all scorekeepers, of course - and I suspect it is actually a pretty small minority of scorekeepers - but that is where you see Soros-type behavior. No one else can afford it, and there is little institutional benefit to it.

I had a labor day weekend get together with friends, and I had people in my life place bets on whether I'd require certain safety things. (I did.) They also joked in that way that is not really joking, that I was hosting a covid party. Just very rude and insulting on so many levels. I wonder if they've placed a bet on whether someone in my party would get infected. So far everyone is fine, so the joke is on them.
I am one degree of separation from people that have had covid: one girl at church had her father die of it, a friend of a family member got it and has scarred lungs now, etc. I take it seriously, but living life in general is a risk. Stepping outside my door, covid or not, every day, is a risk. To battle covid, I take all the precautions I deem necessary, within reason. Cleaning, washing, distancing, wearing masks when I absolutely have to. But I cannot shut my life down from all covid risks, I refuse to let that fear rule over me. A life lived in fear is a life half lived.
Honestly, I think the people being the biggest jerks about how I'm living my life are jealous I'm not in utter panic all the time. They think I am cheating death. I've learned to just go about my business and not tell them everything, or they would have daily fainting spells over me, and I don't need that attitude in my life.

Nah, what's going on with corporations is standard issue Agency Problem ... misalignment of the interests of the owners and the people left to run the companies. Massive modern corporations effectively have such diffuse ownership as to have no ownership, so the managers/agents/employees tend to run things to maximize benefits to themselves (e.g., massive CEO paychecks). But once you get the money out at such massive levels that each extra dollar has diminishing returns to your happiness (does anyone really need that third yacht?) they start going for prestige ... Prog/libs hold the cultural heights that dole out prestige, so corporate managers start doling out the wokeness to get the societal prestige that they crave.

There other 2 were a couple, both in their 80s. She found out cause she went to the hospital for a problem with her diabetes. Neither showed any symptoms and both had numerous co-morbidities. Their son who lives in the same building, and up to that point saw them every day, didn't catch it.
