The restaurant burned down was Mangia. It went out of business, I think, but was a high-end restaurant

They burned Something Different which is on a big strip mall block that may have gone out of control.

They burned a used car lot and the KPD/KFD couldn't get there (listening to the scanner) because they couldn't secure the area. Shots fired consistently by multiple people.

Everything is looted. Broken.

It's awful.

Kenosha is reddish-purple, mostly affluent, quiet. Was in the top 10 cities to raise a child when I was growing up there. Had 4 murders in 2019.

They used to be a factory town and have been rebuilding since Chrysler moved out in 1989, finally building a downtown people like to visit.

City parked Garbage trucks to block intersections leading to the only police station in the city of 100k.

They lit those on fire. Started to break into and burn the courthouse but were stopped.

Then they moved down what is, essentially, the whole of downtown breaking into stores and looting. Started a car lot on fire. This car lot fire couldn't be put out because it wasn't safe. That spread and almost got the Bradford church but some indie journalists were putting water on it... and it didn't catch.

The firetrucks were filling water at staging areas some distance away then like, drive by spraying the car fire to put it out.

Shoot until they're no longer a threat, which isn't like in the movies. People don't get "blown away" or just go down in a heap.

Sometimes you shoot someone, and they turn around and shoot you. If the cop watched the guy, he knew when to stop shooting. We heard the horn sound almost immediately after the shooting stopped, so I'd say he did it right.

So I have some LEO experience. About 16 years worth. The cops let the guy get up- there are three cops there. First mistake. Should have holstered and gone hands on right there and tackled his ass when he was calmly walking around the car.

The man refused lawful orders and reached into his car... likely for the gun that the police knew he had. He had also been previously arrested for assault on an officer. He got shot because he was a violent criminal who looked like he was about to commit further violence on the arresting officers.

That is the part that I am unable to comprehend. Holster the iron up and tackle him from the rear. Control the subject, isolate the hands, get him UNDER CONTROL.

Tom- it really doesn't require a beating at all. There are rather simple techniques to get a perp on the ground and get rapid compliance. Usually arm bars or wrist type locks. Very effective, easy to use, won't break a limb and gets compliance. But it requires physical contact and intervention.

I do not see that as an issue at all. I did not see what happened that allowed Blake to get up off the ground but I am pretty sure it was very influenced by hands-off rules of engagement forced on the police. Once he was up, however, they had the choice of allowing him to get a gun to shoot them (and possibly innocent standers-by) or shooting him before he could. Blake had the choice of complying or being shot. He chose poorly.

Like Donut Operator said. The cops aren't deadly enough. These pussies had no takedown or grappling experience. They couldn't go to the ground, because all they knew was that weeks worth of training at the academy. You have to have confidence in yourself not to go immediately to lethal force.
