Why is that?

63 "I have often said I would remain a member of the Court as long as I can do the job full steam. I remain fully able to do that."

As a current survivor of cancer and having gone through a regimen of chemotherapy, that is a load of codswallop. It generally kicks your ass. There is no "full steam" when this therapy is going on. Not for the young, not for the middle-aged, not for the old, and not for the decrepit. It's maddening to be lied to by this illusion that everything is just hunky dory with this aged jurist with mounting health problems. If treatment was anything like mine, there are days where lifting a toothbrush was too much a task and just trying to eat a meal was an accomplishment.

Now we all know this is an obvious lie. But that's the integrity of The Court we've come to know and "appreciate".

Anybody who's been unfortunate enough to have a friend/loved one go through this knows all to well what's referred to as "chemo brain" which is basically chemically induced alzheimer's.

Confusion, paranoia, hallucinations... I'd be concerned enough if a 40-something person on SCOTUS was going through it, much less an 87 year old.

Whatever decisions she's making probably have more to do with whether or not she's going to say something after she soils herself, or just go with the flow. Apparently the whole puppet/placeholder thing isn't worth bothering to cover up any longer.

Yep, in a very real sense this is supremely evil.

Imagine, if your spouse held a job, and was on medical leave. The boss calls and asks if she's up to coming back to work, and you calmly say "sure, just give us a few days and she'll be back to her old self," as you watch her fighting for breath.

What a monster you would be.

However... his wife, and one of Wilson's top advisors, conspired for months to deny Wilson was in any way incapacitated, and indeed, made Presidential proclamations regarding how he was recovering, feeling fit and fine, and fully able to do his job.

173 So the cops made an arrest in that grisly decapitation/dismemberment murder of the Indian (dot) techie guy in NYC. It was his personal assistant, a black guy, who had been stealing money from the Indian guy. Indian guy was merciful to the black assistant after he caught him stealing (tens of thousands of dollars) from him, and set up a re-payment plan for the crook, instead of calling the cops and turning him in. For his kindness, the crook PA repaid him by murdering and dismembering him.

But since the murderer was a black man, we probably shouldn't prosecute him, because he was just getting himself some long-overdue reparations, right deCommio? Or maybe the Smithsonian will lecture us privileged whities that the black guy just couldn't help himself, since being expected to show up and do one's job every day, without stealing, was just something he was not genetically programmed to do.

I've always struggled with the part about praying for my enemies. I must be a bad Catholic because I just can't get right with that, even though I'm supposed to. I rationalize to myself that an absolute minimum required for me to forgive is for my "enemy" to repent and ask for forgiveness. That I'd be able to do. But without that, uh-uh. Why I am obliged to forgive someone who hasn't stopped doing whatever evil that makes me hate them?

222 So the cops made an arrest in that grisly decapitation/dismemberment murder of the Indian (dot) techie guy in NYC.

Anecdote: I wrote off my son, because he was killing himself through his various addictions. I also told my son I expected the next time I saw him would be at his funeral.

However, I prayed, daily, for him to answer the call of Jesus Christ and salvation and to get over his addition.

My son is going on six years of sobriety through getting involved in a Faith based sobriety program.

I pray for Pelosi and Schumer to repent, because God specifically says HE wants everyone to be saved and that no one go to destruction.

Understatement of the week.

While we are supposed to pray for our individual enemies, it helps to remember that Christians have more than a thousand years of history where putting infidels to the sword in job lots was considered meritorious. Even the Muslims were telling us to chill out. And Jesus himself wouldn't hesitate to mess you up if you turned God's temple into an excuse to grift. I can pray for RBG's peaceful retirement, but if she insists on pushing anti-Christian laws from her perch of absolute power, why shouldn't I cheer and hand out candy when she's called back to her father in hell?

Honestly you can, but I can't exactly say that kind of thing to God without the {wink wink} being there, because in that conversation we all know He knows what I mean... and then all I can do after that is just as an aside be forgiven for thinking such things. It doesn't plague me but it's a space for honesty and I'm being honest on all counts.

Along those lines I do like to visit the Old Testament in some prayers. Like for example I sometimes say I will gladly leave Vengeance to Him... and oh boy do I fucking mean it.

That's probably not "right" either, but I'm only human and I can't live thinking *only* loving compassionate thoughts of someone like RBG when there is so much else to think about and pray for. Best I could do is pray for her redemption but honestly she needs to get in fucking line.

Now I can and I have ignored illegal mandates about how far I can travel, but since America let the commies declare privately owned stores to be public spaces I'll be back to having to wearing a mask since I don't want to lie, and most of the stores are not going to want to risk getting afoul of the state regulatory board(s). There's a scene in the series, Chernobyl, which is played for dramatic effect, but apparently really happened, where the Party guy is basically saying to a group of men, who are skeptical about the thought of walking into pitch black tunnels, through radioactive water, to turn off (on?) some valves.

He says "yeah, you'll almost certainly die, but if you don't do this, millions of other people will also die."

He needed three volunteers. He got three volunteers.

Now THAT is a powerful scene of human drama, where people make sacrifices for something greater.
And it turns out, there's credible evidence that two of these guys are actually alive and well today!

I struggle with this too. The way I look at is more an open door. If someone who has badly wronged me coms to me with true apology and a desire for forgiveness, I pray I can find it in my heart to do so. It depends on the wrong, but this way of thinking is actually incredibly freeing.

Holding onto resentment is just a prison wherein the holder suffers, so in some ways you are doing it for yourself - even though "just doing it for yourself" would absolutely not work. Which is actually the neat part.

410 I pray for evildoers repentance and salvation. Even the ones who seem especially difficult, murderous and hateful.

How marvelous it would be for the world to see them come to their senses and repudiate evil. Just like the prodigal son.

My thought is that a public, massive, conversion of people like Pelosi, Schiff, Soros, RBG, et al, would be a world changing event.

His Kingdom can come faster if our leaders would quit leading us into temptation.

Easy peasy to pray for that.

Unlikely, you say? How about playboy developer Donald J. Trump as the most pro-life, pro-religious freedom,.pro-family president in a century?

Absolutely. You can forgive someone yet they still must face the penalty for their actions. Our forgiveness doesn't wipe the slate clean, it just means we do not hold something against them or remember it against them again. Its gone from us, not them.

Some people can't handle being shown mercy and forgiveness because that occurring means you did something wrong. Most people have a very hard time accepting that they actually did something wrong, even when the evidence is irrefutable. Strange, but true.

611 It seems to me that suicide is the deliberate use of means to end a life before a natural end. Not using methods to prolong a very ill life seems not so much suicide as facing a natural end.

That is, if you take a pill to kill yourself on purpose, even if you are terminally ill, then its suicide.

If you let a sickness run its course without taking extra measures to stop it, that's just natural death.

I think it's one thing to have a disease that cannot be cured or has a very low survival rate and accept your fate and something completely different to make the decision early that if you're told you have something, you'll take death, regardless.

633 I'm sick of being told stories of questionable veracity and just being expected to accept them without proof.

So I call bullshiite.

I want to see video of her actually doing her court work. With it validated by people i still trust (Clarence Thomas or Alito would be ok. Kurt Schlichter would be preferable.)

I want to see that she is actually typing or dictating the words herself, and not some puppet-handler drafting it and using her auto-pen to sign it.

I want to see regular proof-of-life and proof-of-mental-faculty.

We deserve no less. And we have no reason to trust or believe anything less.

636 Should the end times begin if Schumer and cohorts take back the Senate two things will happen on Day One. 1: The Demorats will change the filibuster rules to a majority only needed to end them and 2: Ruthy will retire. Odds anyone????

637 SCOTUS should also have press conferences. I am so tired of the priest-class mentality of the Court, and worse of the citizenry, towards the Court.

Less deference and more transparency please.

What started as judicial review long ago has since become an exclusive judicial purview, as the judicial doctrines to determine what is and isn't constitutional has strayed ever further from things like the ACTUAL LANGUAGE of the Constition (e.g. "shall not be infringed") into ever more penumbra and aracana: to the point that the average citizen, let alone the average legislator, considers themselves unqualified to even voice an opinion whether something is or isn't Constitutional until it's been officially litigated to death in a Court.

This is, obviously, not how free citizens are supposed to behave.

That said, she is much smarter than the "wise Latina." But who isn't?

If you contract a terminal disease and refuse to treat it due to this mindset, is it suicide?

+++++

I would think not. I don't know of any moral obligation to endure prolonged or painful treatment in an attempt to postpone something that's inevitable anyway.

648 I knew a guy who got liver cancer, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.Shortly after the diagnosis he died. They say as you slip into the terminal phase you go into a hallucinatory state. He thought at the end he was able to get up and do what he pleased."Now, don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky, it slips away and all your money won't another minute buy."Dust in the Wind.

649 Reminder this cancer-riddled thing is Jewish, one of three Jewish Supreme Court Jutices, Breyer and Kagan are the other two. It's strange how 2% of the population gets 33% of the Supreme Court. I wonder why that never works for White people?
