Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon and the wealthiest man in the world, mocked some of his own customers who spoke out against his support for the far-left Black Lives Matter movement, as reported by USA Today. The mega-billionaire shared a screenshot of one such email to Instagram, depicting a man allegedly using racial slurs as he criticized Bezos' virtue-signaling, declaring that he "canceled [his order]" and "won't be the only one." Bezos defended his decision to share the screenshot, saying that "this sort of hate shouldn't be allowed to hide in the shadows. It’s important to make it visible." He added that the man who sent the email is "the kind of customer I'm happy to lose."

If it's an odd product, I'll find what I want at Amazon, hunt for it on the internet and buy it direct when I can (a lot of products sell on Amazon but also sell through a website of the company's own.) Local, independent stores. But the ecosystem around them has been largely eroded by online shopping. So if you want something special, it might be a special order with a wait that's longer than buying online.
But I do as much shopping in person and locally as I can manage. I have spent a veritable fortune at Amazon over the past 12 months (new house for my folks, lots of stuff needed for all the semi-permanent work from home, etc.) and that will end. Unless I actually need it in a day or two, I'll go elsewhere. I don't know if I'll cancel because Amazon has its place, but my spending is about to do a big 'ole taper.

Sometimes it is better finding that other business. I just ordered a vise direct from the manufacturer, free shipping, no sales tax, delivery was about a week less than Amazon and price was about $3 more. Doesn't usually work that well, but you need to be willing to spend the time in research before you buy something. If not then your options are limited.

Oddly, Amazon has never had a strong focus on profits outside of Cloud Services. Sometimes the retail part profits, sometimes it doesn't, and it never seems to concern Bezos much - I think he's just gunning for a monopoly, which muh "Principuhled Conservativez" will be happy to lay down for. It really disappointed me, too! When I'm looking up a cookie recipe, the last thing I want is to be lectured about social justice. I used their flour in all my cookies and they sell boiled apple cider, which is really concentrated, that I use in apple pies and hubby uses in some of his bbq recipes. Not happy about this at all.

Yes, the 2-day prime went right out the window. I've been getting products far faster from non-amazoid sources. Sometimes it's worth seeing if vendors have their own websites. eBay, BH Photo Video, Adorama, all fast and the latter two have excellent return policies. I've been using them for big-ticket items.
As soon as my prime is up for renewal I'm done. I'm sick of the BLM thing being shoved down my throat on amazoid prime streaming. They've got a big banner telling me how I should feel, and replaced my watch list with things like MLK and Selma. They go by the name of Half Price Books and they sell their books on Amazon. Abebooks is connected to Amazon.
One really independent book store is Paperbacks Plus in Mesquite Tx. Not going to drive to 25 miles each way to see if they have a book I want. I have bought a few books on e-bay but they are usually used.

The novel coronavirus hit Wuhan at least in August of 2019 -- FIVE MONTHS before we are told it hit. And it may have been ever earlier than that.
Combine this new info with these facts:
-- There were direct flights DAILY from Wuhan to San Francisco, and 1-stop flights from Wuhan to other cities in the US and the world at this time.
-- Tests done on samples of blood drawn in the SF Bay Area from the second half of 2019 (pre-December) showed that as much as 40% of them had antibodies to the novel coronavirus.
Inescapable conclusion:
THE PANDEMIC HIT THE US IN MID-2019, ALREADY PEAKED IN THE FALL AND WINTER OF 2019, AND WAS NEARLY OVER by the time we even became aware that the disease existed.
The lockdowns all were imposed long, long, long after the horse was already out of the barn, and the disease had run its course.

One way is refuse to buy from vendors who only sell from one internet retailer. Make that a policy for personal use, for businesses, and for government with the justification is that it gives a more robust supply chain at a more competitive price.
We do similar stuff all the time in industry of not relying on a single supplier, but we skip over the last link in the chain of retail outlet.

Daughter had our credit card for things we paid for (necessities) and her own with a very small limit for things she wanted but didn't really need. Months after graduation we are going through our CC bill and there is a charge for Amazon we didn't know what it was. Turns out it was for a Prime membership we didn't order. The free Prime account was keyed to her card, and she declined paying for it upon graduation, so Amazon just went down the list of all of the card numbers she had ever used and found the first one still active and dinged it for the membership. We got it removed, but that is what customer service explained to me that happened. Probably legal, but sure is shady.

I know we had the conversation a couple months ago. I live and work in silicon valley, and if the people I'm with aren't from India, it's China. Back just before Thanksgiving I had a flu bug that wasn't particularly nasty, but it also took a couple of weeks to go away. Mostly coughing - which I never get. I think a lot of us were suspicious already. I have zero doubts, and also zero doubts it's not particularly deadly.
The sad thing is we'll probably never know what really killed people like Adam Schlesinger who supposedly died of covid. I think pretty much anybody that died between feb and now was chalked up to the 'rona.

I have memberships in half a dozen museums and now THEY - the Met in New York, Milwaukee Art Museum, the Field Museum in Chicago - are all sending out emails with the BLM-related self-abegnation. Nothing yet from the Art Institute of Chicago, but I'm waiting for that shoe to drop, too.
If you're wondering why I care, well, I've been going to museums since I was a little kiddie (my dad used to take us to the Met and to the Cloisters, is that a great dad, or what?). I love these places, I love the art and history they contain, and it sickens me to see these people grovelling to the criminals and the ferals.
Also receiving similar emails from various Chicago theatre companies. However I can unsubscribe/cancel them with no heartburning, because Chicago live theatre is mostly crap these days anyway.

Calla company and asks if they've made a statement on X. They then warn them that their readers will be very interested to hear that they may tacitly support anti-X, and now would they like to make a statement in strong support of X?
They get extorted, similar to how the MSM has gotten into the doxing business.
I bet a lot of these businesses would rather not make a statement on BLM, but they get contacted by the MSM and/or activists who demand they make one, and if they *don't* make one, well that's noteworthy and they'll be sure to let people know that they don't support BLM (tagged for attack).

3) The core issue here is the disproportionate crime rate among African Americans. We cannot let this go. There's a lot of pure shit in the African American community, the question is how we deal with them.
4) In the end, it's mostly about black-on-black crime, and whether those victims are able and willing to do something about that.
