The odd combination of what they are doing is... well odd. These kinds of tactics work when there is a lot of apathy and people are living their lives in their bubbles where the government does not affect them much.
At the same time, they are trying their damnedest to push riots into non-urban areas (not well, but they are trying.) This is not a good way to make/keep people apathetic.

Consider the source AlaBAMA. And also look at the polls on questions unrelated to Trump but related to the riots. Those polls show the Democrat position being absolutely crushed. It is why today, Dems are trying to walk back their defund the police position and are trying their hardest to frame what is going on as "mostly peaceful protests".

It's interesting to compare today's generals to yesteryears. Lee went home after the war and became the president of Washington college, later to become Washington and Lee college.
Swarzkopf declined in retirement to run for political office and became a supporter of children's charities and sat on the board of the Nature Conservancy.
General Honore declined to run for political office, but instead came out of retirement to handle the post Katrina debacle. Then went back into retirement.

Another was how best to participate in protests and if we'd get time off for doing so.
To his credit, he answered the second one, pointing out that as a gov contractor one could easily run afoul of the Hatch Act, not to mention the damage to one's security clearance if one were to advocate the forceful overthrow of the US Government. The questions died off after that.

It's interesting to compare today's generals to yesteryears. Lee went home after the war and became the president of Washington college, later to become Washington and Lee college.
Swarzkopf declined in retirement to run for political office and became a supporter of children's charities and sat on the board of the Nature Conservancy.
General Honore declined to run for political office, but instead came out of retirement to handle the post Katrina debacle. Then went back into retirement.

But that's not how non-partisans vote. They want to vote for the guy they trust and "feel" good about. There are no levels of thought behind it, no if I do this then this will happen. They look at the guys and decide who viscerally gives them the better "feeling".
I also discovered the measure that - when differentiated among the two candidates - correctly predicts every presidential electoral outcome of at least the last 50 years. I would guess it goes back further but my knowledge of the candidates is sketchy.
Only I will probably never tell anyone again - and certainly not on the internet - because I don't want the Democrats to find out.
Rest assured, on this measure alone, Trump is the winner. So outside of everything else, my prediction is Trump wins.

Yep, that was no coincidence either. That all started under Obama, because Obama incited it and inspired it. From his inauguration prayer of "making white be right" or some such bullshit and then his "cops acted stupidly" beer conference crap.
There was obviously a wink-wink agreement with every radical black supremacy group in the country that if they could find an incident to hype, they would be allowed to do so with the full support of the Obama Administration and all the radical people in it.
All that stopped under President Trump, because (1) they knew they didn't have Obama in office to cover for them anymore and (2) Trump Adminstration economic policies allowed them to get back to work.
Not to mention, Trump reached out to Black community leaders and worked on prison reform.
There was no reason for any complaining anymore.

LinkedIN has a 'townhall' wherein their employees could comment on the state of police injustice and black lives matter, etc.
Since it was anonymous, their employees shared how they disagreed with BLM and said things like 'all lives matter' and 'I feel like I'm being accused of crimes other people did' and 'this is reverse racism'.
Needless to say, people said it was an embarrassment for the 'c-level' folks.
But the truth is, people are afraid to say anything for fear of losing their job or being attacked online by a mob.
So companies push this new wokeness and a lot of employees think it's bullshit but can't say anything.
Which is the destruction of the first amendment.
But oh, you can say something. But you will pay a price. Which is extortion.

A not-so-subtle distinction.
Normal English speaker: "He gave me a present" or "I gave him a present."
Idiot Millenial speak: "He gifted me a present" or "I gifted him a present."
In that context, it is a direct synonym. Its usage, though, tells you about the user.
