Documents: FBI Found No Derogatory Information On Michael Flynn and Ordered the Investigation Into Him to Be Closed.
Then Trump Deranged Political Operative Peter Strzok Ordered the Case Be Reopened to Find Anything.

Necks need to be stretched.

Note that the documents refer to Flynn under the codename "CROSSFIRE RAZOR" or the abbreviated version, "Razor."

Sean Davis at The Federalist:

According to the FBI document, the federal law enforcement agency also asked a redacted agency, likely the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), to conduct a similar search of its own records for derogatory information against Flynn, who at the the time was the incoming National Security Adviser for then-President-elect Donald Trump.

"No derogatory information was reported back to the FBI," the memo concluded.

The memo also reported that the FBI used at least one confidential human source, or "CHS" in FBI lingo, to spy on Flynn during its investigation of him. Leads offered by that CHS resulted in "no derogatory information" about Flynn. At the same time, the FBI also "initiated surveillance on a certain Russian subject" to determine whether "there was contact between him and [Flynn]."

"No contact between the two individuals was observed by the surveillance teams," the memo closing the investigation against Flynn stated.

"Following the compilation of the above information, the [Crossfire Hurricane] team determined that [Flynn] was no longer a viable candidate as part of the larger CROSSFIRE HURRICANE umbrella case," the memo continued. "A review of logical [redacted] databases did not yield any information on which to predicate further investigative efforts."

"The FBI is closing this investigation," the memo concluded.

Text messages included in the latest court filings in Flynn’s ongoing criminal case show that Peter Strzok, who was fired from the FBI for misconduct, ordered an unnamed associate managing the investigation to not close the Flynn investigation, notwithstanding the fact that the FBI concluded there was no legal or factual basis to continue its investigation of Flynn.

"Hey if you haven't closed RAZOR, don’t do so yet," Strzok texted at 2:14 p.m. on January 4, 2017.

"Razor still open," Strzok immediately texted to Lisa Page, a former assistant to fired former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe

More at the link, including imaged of the documents. Strzok admits to Page that he completely "rewrote" the reports, supposedly to preserve "the voice" of the original writer, but more likely to hide the original writer's exoneration of Flynn.

I forget where I saw it, but I read someone either speculating or specu-leaking that this was the moment that Deep State Operative Stephan Halper was paid (with government money) to invent a phony "Russian Dinner" pretext to keep the sham investigation over.

The "CHS" referred to here is probably Halper:

The memo also reported that the FBI used at least one confidential human source, or "CHS" in FBI lingo, to spy on Flynn during its investigation of him.

Trump in the meantime has cooked CNN. He says that Flynn has been "totally exonerated" and was set up by "dirty filthy cops at the head of the FBI."

He urges Jim Acosta and CNN to cover the story and cover it honestly.

Yeah, good luck on that, Drumpf.

Correct:

Of course, that little lie fails to note the context of his family financial resources having been exhausted, his son threatened with facing the rack next, and (just this one little thing), the fact that Flynn withdrew his plea and rolled the dice on Judge Sullivan giving him a fair hearing.

60 I wonder if Flynn would accept being Trump's National Security Advisor again.

Part of me thinks he would be insane to take that position after all the hell he went through the first time.

And considering that it was actual agencies* of the federal government that engaged in a criminal conspiracy to destroy him, it would be crazy to get anywhere near that den of vipers again.

And yet...on a symbolic level, as a the final thread of the denouement of this national play, having Flynn back in his old position has a certain appropriate...symbolism?

*Yes, technically, it was individuals in the agencies, not the agencies themselves that conspired against Trump, but the individuals were so high placed, and had so many co-conspirators...that it doesn't feel wrong to say the agencies themselves conspired against Trump.

I actually believe it's a lot more petty and stupid than that. I think they came up with "Crossfire Hurricane" because it was a lyric in "Jumping Jack Flash" by the Stones, and that in turn was a mostly forgettable Spy movie with Whoopie Goldberg back in the 80's. And they could tell themselves "ooh we're big stars in our own little Jumpin' Jack Flash movie".

really, I think that's how petty they were.

121 I am working my through the documents that people helpfully linked in the last thread. What is really telling to me is just how many ops they were running. From my knowledge and reading (incomplete in the first case, often incompetent in the latter), I have come up with these:

CROSSFIRE HURRICANE: Op against Trump
CROSSFIRE RAZOR: Op against Flynn
CROSSFIRE TYPHOON: Op against someone - maybe Papadapolous?
CROSS WIND: Op against ?

And then, what makes me *very* suspicious, is whatever op Strozk mentioned in place of "RAZOR" that got redacted - another Op (or maybe person, but I lean toward 'op') that is probably related.

So my question on this, which is a repeat from the last thread, is "how many ops were there?"

HURRICANE is old news. RAZOR, TYPHOON, CROSS WIND are new - at least to me. The redacted op in Strozk's text to Page is another. How many ops were they running against their opponents? Just how wide was the corrupt dragnet? Were there other series besides CROSS* that targeted orbits besides Trump's?

The thing I find incredibly distressing in this new stuff - beyond the coup attempt - is how many ops they were running and against how many targets. This is disgusting and necks need to be stretched indeed.

That was the entire point of the "small group". They knew what they were doing was highly illegal and they wanted to keep the number of people involved to a minimum.

That's why it is the same group of people involved in all these investigations run out of HQ rather than from various field offices.

Let's say for the sake of argument that my border-line tinfoil hat theory about the intelligence agencies doing this to everyone is correct.

If that's true, then maybe Strzok was the FBI agent in charge of coordinating all of the anti-Trump "investigations" by the FBI.

In other words, maybe there were a dozen Strzok's, each coordinating similar ops against everyone else running for the nomination on the R side.

No such animal.

When an organization is somewhat corrupted, there are plenty of good (usually clueless) people carrying its water. When an organization is *this* corrupt, there is no way to misread it. Every person there is either involved in the corruption, or maintaining silence about it to protect those who are.

For reference look at the 1970s NYPD, which was arguably (and amazingly) somehow cleaner than the modern DoJ.

If anything will clean it up, it'll be done the same way that was done... from the outside. Problem is, that was the DoJ who came after that case. There is no superseding authority to reform them. They can just kick back and laugh at all of this forever, as they've done for the last three+ years.

Comey's duplicity is documented if anybody wants to pursue it.

He's both on record having said

1. He released his notes so that a special prosecutor could be appointed.

2. He just released his records to his lawyer, so it's really not a leak.

Without explaining to the American people how his lawyer would appoint a special prosecutor.

Comey is a publicly-admitted sleazebag if anybody would put the pieces together. "Thought we could get away with one" is not what somebody convicted by a "higher honor" says.

Somewhere in there Soros is involved too. The cabal had the money men, those to whom dirty work was assigned (Strzok, Page, Priestap, Brennan, Clapper, various other FBI overpaid SES villains, various CHS, S Rice, Nuland, old Clinton operatives like Shearer), and then the puppet media megaphones (too numerous to mention).

They make a damn sight more than "mid-level" management or technical careers in most parts of this country. And I would *much* rather give them housing in Washington. The usual gripe is "I can't afford to maintain two residences with one of them in high-cost Washington." Fair enough. Build them a nice dormitory, give them a reasonable executive salary (they get an executive salary now) and a decent expense account to get home to their constituents (which they already have).

279 I for one can believe that Barack Incompetence actually meant "by the book".

I think Incompetence was out of his depth most of the time he sat in the chair. I basically believe that he bought the whole "Trump is a Russian agent" and panicked after the election that "Cut it out" hadn't worked magic.

He wouldn't have ordered the strike on Bin Laden had Jarrett been in town the weekend, at that's why his military leaders chose that weekend, because Jarrett had vetoed it on previous occasions.

So, I believe the account that Barack told the IC to go hard on this and wrap it up by January (as it is recorded he said) and that in January he told people to do it "by the book", because he was ceding his office to Trump.

This is the same President that asked his handlers "Where are all the shovel-ready jobs?"

Posted by: Axeman at April 30, 2020 03:20 PM (Eicbe)

That was the entire point of the "small group".

Maybe they should be relocated to someplace with trees, like Northern California.

301 Still way too quick and clean. Among the many ways the ancient Romans executed people was a favorite: chain the miscreant up to a team of horses and dragged through the streets of Rome up to a high cliff and then thrown off. They usually didn't survive the trip to the cliff.

I mean, let's be real -- the legislative branch is not overly involved in the day to day operations of government anywhere in the US. They just vote for a budget, pass some busy body laws, and hold hearings about nothing.

Assign the FBI to some limited, but neglected Federal Law Enforcement tasks. My suggestion is finding missing Native American women and children. A noble, neglected task, and 5,000 victims every year.

The country would be infinitely better off and the congress and senate would have to work full time to pull that off.

All for an amount that, if taken in perspective, is piss change.

I'm more scoffing at the idea that it's impossible to live off of $174,000, or that paying them more would somehow make them less likely to be corrupt.

383 Problems in Plain Sight:

(1) Why did the "7th Floor" at the FBI get **directly** involved in these Trump investigation cases?

(2) Why were the same people at FBI and DOJ, AND the same SOURCES (Halper, Steele, Fusion) involved in all of the Crossfire cases? [I mean, if there WAS a Russian conspiracy, then it would make sense, but now we know that THE FBI (the field agents who, you know, do this professionally) knew, there was none.

(3) Note that newly released Flynn info that matters (field office found no bad info and wanted to close case) was NOT sources or methods. Redacted anyway withheld from Flynn, hidden by Team Mueller (* And not discussed)

(4) Director Wray needs to be fired. Shame on Trump for not doing it a long time ago. If Wray thinks he's protecting the FBI here, he's a fool. The ONLY way to protect the FBI would have been to flush all the info into the sunshine, and get behind aggressive prosecution of all at FBI involved. NOT ONE FBI BAD ACTOR HAS EVEN BEEN INDICTED. When you come in as Top Dog in a troubled institution, the SMART play is to immediately scorch earth and rip the bandaid off, blame your predecessor, and play the reform card.

Wray tried to keep the shell game going instead, protected the bad actors, thwarted accountability at every stage, stalled, etc. A national disgrace. He's the same as Comey in my book.

Nobody "runs" the economy.

Think of the economy as a human body. Filled with cells. Each of those does its thing. Lives, reproduces dies. Each cell has a job.

You dont conciously tell your pancreas cells to make insulin. It happens. You dont command that white T-cell to devour that bacteria.

It just happens.

Thinking that you can "run" an advanced economy like the US's is akin to thinking you can command your hair to stop growing.

Recall that when Obama Term-1 Team came into office, they cleaned house. They fired ALL of the ambassadors, fired a number of high profile peeps, undoubtedly got rid of many of more silently via reassignment, or whatev, and then inserted Obama loyalists at all levels, including Brennan, Rice and Holder. These three are human scum. Completely political and nothing else, just like the modern Dem party generally.

Even if you are upstanding and ethical, what do you do when you occupy the top seat in Government when confronted with 8-year legacy of populating the Fed. Work Force with 100% political loyalists who put the Dem party's interests above all other interests, to the point where these loyalties engage in criminal conduct?

You fire EVERYONE that Obama put in place. Then, you fire EVERYONE those people promoted. That's what you do.

Strozk and Page seem obvious. McCabe too. Clinesmith seems to be a layup. Possibly James Baker from the DOD.

The real targets as far as I'm concerned are Brennan, Yates, Comey and Clapper. I have no idea if Durham has found enough to charge them but I hope so.

443 I think Incompetence was out of his depth most of the time he sat in the chair. I basically believe that he bought the whole "Trump is a Russian agent" and panicked after the election that "Cut it out" hadn't worked magic.

So, I believe the account that Barack told the IC to go hard on this and wrap it up by January (as it is recorded he said) and that in January he told people to do it "by the book", because he was ceding his office to Trump.

This is the same President that asked his handlers "Where are all the shovel-ready jobs?"

Nah Bro. Obama "I won" was looking for revenge on Flynn. The set up of Flynn was to backfill the operation against Trump. I will admit he may not have known everything, but that was more for plausible deniability about knowing every nook and cranny of the operation.

In Jan/2017 - the FBI knew Trump collusion was a joke and at that point knew Papo-whatshisname and Page were clean. Long before that.

They needed additional stuff re Flynn - so they threw everything they had. They had an enormous hole to backfill.

467 440 >>And who do you think that will be?
==========

Look, the indictments are incoming. And soon. There has been a tremendous amount of movement on the Deep State unravelling in just the last 3 weeks, and the pace is increasing, now with new breaking stories each week. Something greased the wheels to make this happen, and that something is likely the Durham crossing the magic point where he already has enough evidence to proceed against a number of bad actors. As with all conspiracy-based cases, the process starts with the slam-dunks on the low-level people, and subsequently rolling them up as States' evidence.

BUT -- BIG problem here, folks, is the Calendar. We're now 9-months away from next Presidency. The Dem Candidate will always have a decent chance of winning the election, because our Country is mostly evenly divided over last 4 decades of Presidential elections.

If Durham indicted people TODAY, the first cases wouldn't hit the court room until what, Sept-to-Nov. 2020? The targets will get the best Army of lawyers DNC money can buy, and they will delay in hopes of power changing hands back to Dems.

So I work in Federal law enforcement. Testified in many grand juries. I can tell you that if an indictment drops, generally an arrest will follow- and typically not months after the fact. That isn't to say that an AUSA may not wait, but its unusual. Of course, everything about this case is unusual, so maybe my 16 years of service and expertise should be thrown out the window.

Posted by: secret squirrel at April 30, 2020 05:49 PM (xyImL)

476 The more I hear about our own law enforcement agencies that are supposed to be protecting us and serving our country abusing their power to destroy and imprison over politics is infuriating. These resources could have been used and a million other different useful and meaningful Waze like say protection from hostile regimes such as China and other countries that wish to do us as much harm as humanly possible. I can't even begin to explain the amount of Fury and abject despair that I am feeling over all of this. Where in the hell has my country gone?
