Tara Reade's Former Neighbor Comes Forward to Say Reade Made the Same Allegation in the 90s

And the new corroborating witness calls herself a Biden supporter.

Tara Reade, a former staffer in Joe Biden's Senate office, has accused the Democratic presidential nominee of sexually assaulting her in a congressional hallway in 1993.

Now Reade's former neighbor Lynda LaCasse, a Biden supporter, tells Insider that Reade told her about the alleged assault in detail in 1995 or 1996: "This happened, and I know it did because I remember talking about it."

A former colleague of Reade's also told Insider that Reade talked in the mid-1990s of being sexually harassed by her former boss in Washington, DC.

The women come forward just days after video emerged of a woman that Reade says is her mother calling into CNN's Larry King Live in 1993 to talk about her daughter's "problems" with a prominent senator.

Biden has not addressed the accusations, but a campaign spokesperson says they are false.

I was hoping to hold off on pushing this senile rapist out until the convention.

So who will the Replacement Candidate be?

By the way, the Hill mentions that not a single Sunday show mentioned the revelation that Tara Reade's mother called the Larry King show to talk about the allegation.

And that includes FoxNews' show with admitted liberal Chris Wallace.

Why does Fox and the liberal Chris Wallace consistently get passes for their own liberal media bias?

10 I just have to say that if this Tara Reade story was preplanned to release, now is the absolute perfect time to do it.

Biden has a delegate lead that's effectively insurmountable. The rest of the field has dropped out. He's pretty much the candidate, but only pretty much. There's still room for him to be removed before he gets the nomination, but the moves to take him out within the rules would be damn near impossible to follow through on (convincing the rest of the primary voters to vote for someone else, especially since everyone's dropped out). And then there's the less rule bound methods, which would lead to complete chaos.

They could either strike Biden's name and install someone else, which would piss off everyone but that one person's supporters. That one person will most likely not have spent the last year trying to build a coalition within the Party, so it's a disaster. They could also re-do the entire primary, but it would be last second, subject to the whims of the Establishment, and be a complete disaster in execution.

Biden is effectively the nominee, but not actually, which gives those wanting him gone a whiff of hope to be able to get him gone. That hope is dangerous and could bread into resentment and anger by the time Biden just takes the nomination at the convention (virtual or whatever).

After the nomination, it'd be too easy for the left to simply ignore it. Now, though? That desperate hope of replacing him is going to feed a lot of anger in certain feminist circles of the left.

It would be instructive to find some caveman frozen in a glacier, thaw him, and put before him the two respective stories: one, a rich man who claimed women allowed him to touch them, the other a powerful man accused by the alleged victim to have forcibly penetrated her, and then ask which story would correspond to the "lesser of two accused rapists."

56 So it seems strange that the media and DNC has not squashed this situation already.

On the one hand, Biden is clearly not fit to be in public, let alone be the President of the United States. So this offers a good excuse to dump him from the ticket.

On the other hand, someone in a previous thread brought up the good point that, if he drops out, investigations could be opened into all his corruption with China and Ukraine and anywhere else and it would not be "interfering with a presidential campaign".

On the other other hand (yes I have 3 hands), what two people could the Democrats bring together to form a presidential ticket which would either compete with Trump or at least help down-ticket races?

Going by the Left's rules, they need a woman and a minority (or combination of both).

Do they recruit Michelle Obama? Do they go back to the previous candidates and figure out the ticket the Democrat Convention?

Just not sure where they go from here.

The jaw-dropping performance of the "press" in the latest Biden scandal - essentially being his aggressive PR agents, not even remotely a "press", same as they were for Obama - was nothing compared to the way they will ignore and distort/lie about the coming Mega-Scandal news.

And every elected Dem at every level will continue not to care a bit about a Third World-style coup attempt, something completely outside our national history or experience.

And 90% of Dem voters won't care either.

And Trump will win, bigly, regardless, in November.

"I personally do not want Trump to become president again. I will not vote for a Republican," she said. "However, I am not going to vote for the person who assaulted me this time ... So where it leaves me is politically homeless, essentially."

Election Day, Americans will be asked to choose between two candidates, both of whom face credible allegations of sexual assault. Nobody is more upset about this than Tara Reade: "I tried so hard to be heard when there were 20 Democrats running," she told me...But, Tara says, "I will never ever support Trump. They called Kennedy the Lion of the Senate even though he killed a woman. And handsy doesn't even begin to describe him.

This isn't enough to take Biden out.

Like I said before, this woman did not report it before "out of respect" to Biden. Because just like the media crowd with Clinton, she would give Biden a pass on digital penetration just to keep abortion legal or whatever.

She respected him more than she respected herself. \

That's why I laughed at the idea that Dems did not have to prove that the Ukraine *announcing* an investigation into Hunter Biden would have *unquestionably* hurt Biden in the general.

Do these people have *NO* self awareness? If it would have hurt Joe to have a simple announcement that Hunter was under investigation--especially after it had been exposed that Trump had *asked* for one--it would have hurt Joe in the primary, where people can trade off the fact that they are still voting for somebody to beat Trump.

But that means that Joe wouldn't be the general candidate--and that means it wasn't "cheating in the November election", like again they charged without proof.

But I am quite certain that even if they had said that Joe Biden got the prosecutor fired to protect Burisma from prosecution, Dems wouldn't have let that bother them in voting for Joe.

It would have been surreal to remove a man on charges that you couldn't prove but needed to self-reference the Democrat narrative in order to conclude. "Oh, it's consistent with us Democrat's inflated view of our scruples that if it had been proven that Joe acted on a conflict of interest, we would not have voted for him." But, it's argumentative at best.

They have to have a smoking gun or a significant number of self-unaware Dems are not going to change their vote. Because Orangeman is bad.

That would fall outside the current set of rules, and it's the Establishment last second setting up a new system that they'll be able to take advantage of to install whomever they want without any concern for the input from their voters.

Their voters aren't going to be pleased with that.

Sure, the largest bulk will keep voting Democrat because that's what they do. However, it's never the hardcore that you really worry about. You know what they're going to do (come out and vote). It's the more moderate/independent ones that matter. The moderates probably won't like it all that much because they'll see the system collapse around them and it won't make them feel good. The independent ones are the BernieBros, and they'll be really, really mad that Bernie, who was second in delegates, didn't get the nomination instead of Cuomo (or whoever).

Undoing Joe is a disaster that will likely tear apart the party at the seams.

Yeah. Or I'd suggest the meat you saw on sale was older meat that was repackaged from going to the restaurant industry to consumer, and they put it on sale because it was on the outer edges of how long meat can stay refrigerated without going bad.

Anecdotally, bacon has gotten more expensive then I've ever noticed it being before ($8.99 for the cheap stuff, with $.50 off or something with the loyalty card), and I couldn't find any good cuts of beef in my grocery store so I skipped it. I didn't look at the prices of beef though.

Posted by: bonhomme at April 27, 2020 02:53 PM (YYlyE)

202 TMJ that's all inside baseball about who gets $ and authoritarian power.

Very few Dem voters know or care how fractious, or united, or organized, or corrupt, or incompetent, or criminal, or whatever - their party officials and incumbents are.

Voting for them is dumb sports fan-dom (as it is for many non-Dem voters). They know nothing about, believe lots of absurd lies about, and hate Reps. They live in a fantasy bubble. They marinate in increasingly extravagant lies and nonsense about every issue under the sun.

It's even to the point where their illiteracy, and laziness, and comfort, allow them to actively support idiocy like "climate change" nonsense, even when it costs them money and freedom (like CA coastal clueless types).

One reason all the inside baseball minutiae of Biden this and Bernie that and this Dem constituency this and that Dem constituency that are so boring and immaterial. The 40-47% robot Dem vote is just that - candidates, issues, all of it, completely irrelevant.

Posted by: rhomboid at April 27, 2020 02:53 PM (El6T/)

203 So who will the Replacement Candidate be?

The real question is: Will Democratic voters really want to get behind some random person who didn't even run in the primaries? It would mean that three years of campaigning was for absolutely nothing, and all the primary voting was for absolutely nothing. Whatever your political affiliation, that would really piss most people off, having some unvetted bozo appointed as the nominee, totally undemocratically. I would wager that fact alone will suppress the Dem vote, even if the nominee is somebody otherwise acceoptable.

Posted by: zombie at April 27, 2020 02:53 PM (N9G0H)

204 I just have to say that if this Tara Reade story was preplanned to release, now is the absolute perfect time to do it.

And then there's the less rule bound methods, which would lead to complete chaos.
...............
Posted by: TheJamesMadison, back to random thoughts at April 27, 2020 02:25 PM (LvTSG)

Somebody not me is going to have to look up the rules, because I seem to recall there's this thing called Superdelegates, and they were created just for a scenario like this, where the voters get it wrong.

I am not entirely sure ANY candidate can effectively win the nomination without them.

And it's worth noting, Bernie hasn't ended his campaign. He's staying on all the remaining ballots, still gathering delegates if he can.

218 There are a couple of additional "hidden" stories behind
these accusations, and whether Biden will step down
from the nomination.

I suspect there are still intense battles between the
Hillary and Obama camps within the DNC. Both hate
Trump, but each is also trying to stake out their own
positions to get advantage.

One "hidden" story is, which D can generate the fullest
support of the African-American community. Hillary
still wants to be believe she can best generate that
support, especially among AA women. Biden's being
accused of assaulting Tara Reade, hurts his case in that
side's view.

Which leads to a second "hidden by general media"
AA story: black women are VERY unhappy that black
men have supported Trump MUCH more than they
do, as a recent Vox article notes. The total numbers
aren't huge, but big enough to hurt D chances in the
election. ("24 percent of black men approve of Trump.
Just 6 percent of black women do. Why?") Also note
that the Biden campaign has placed AA women in its
campaign more prominently.

So what's the Obama side's counter? Push a black
woman towards the highest level of power possible. I
suspect that's where the support for Abrams or K
Harris is coming from. A problem, though: neither D
side is likely to run TWO women on the same ticket just
yet. So Abrams or Harris can only be VP; if somehow
Michelle Obama were to be coaxed into running, her
running mate would also be a guy.

Possible compromise? Someone like Cuomo (if not
Joe) with a black female for VP. But would the pro
Hillary side accept that? Would Elizabeth Warren types
accept it as well?

Yeah, I read that a lot of meat in the restaurant side supply chain was able to be repurposed for consumer sales with emergency govt and fda approval, since on the ground it just meant breaking up large plastic wrapped packages in to smaller ones.

Other stuff is much more difficult to do -- how do you easily turn a 20 pound bag of flour in to a 5 pound one, complete with all of the nutritional labels and everything else required? The machines have to be retooled at the flour factory (if its possible), the bag producers need to up their game, all kinds of red tape has to be cut through, all new supply chains from manufacturer to grocery store distributor to grocery stores need to be created...
...It's pretty complex.

Milk is even more difficult since it has a relatively finite shelf life compared to flour. And huge tanker trucks full of milk destined to be turned in to 20 pound backs of cheese for restaurants are very difficult to magically turn in to small packages of half and half for peoples coffee.

232 Here's the thing: We all know that the whole premise behind the sexual allegations in the political arena was meant, not to force the candidate to withdraw from the race (though it worked with Jack Ryan and ultimately gave us Obama, didn't it?), but to shame voters and supporters. Kavanaugh knew the allegations against him were bullshit; the plan was to undercut his public support. Same with Trump and the "grab 'em by the pussy" comments, or the Russian hookers business. The smears were meant to lower the fervor for him that the public had and cause enough voters to become tepid and maybe stay home on election day. They rail "if you're so moral, how can you vote for an obviously immoral man, for whom the accusations just might be true?" Their weapons are shame, and an appeal to our morality.

Since the left has no morality and no shame, the accusations don't matter. Think of Ted Kennedy and Chris Dodd making a waitress sandwich -- but remember, Kennedy was the "lion of the Senate." The appeal to morality and shame don't work against the left, because their candidates have a D after their names, and they don't even pretend to be motivated by morality.

So Biden belongs on a sex offenders' registry. It doesn't matter to their voters. He'll stay in the race. Besides, he's allegedly the compromise candidate; who are they going to replace him with?

I'd say it was Goldwater. He voted against the civil rights act of 1964 (because he was against the govt turning private businesses in to "public accomodations"), then when running for president was painted as a racist who hated black people. And somehow that stuck, even though you had many prominent democrats voting against the CRA for openly racist and hostile to black people reasons.

LBJ was, in many ways, a political genius. took the republicans' previous civil rights acts and outreach and turned in on its head with the cra of 1964 WHILE ALSO doing a massive expansion of government and making it federal law that all private businesses are now "public accommodations."

No, and he's looked godawful in the past. He had a sweet spot where he was doing the "we're all going to die unless Trump miracles tests and ventilators by the tens of thousands!" riff, but that proved not just wrong but idiotic and personally embarrassing when a NY stockpile was discovered.

They said Wolf is vetoing everything that they propose. So call state representatives and also send an email to the White House. Call AG Barr's office. This is from the state representatives office. People, we need to take action or we are done. They also said he can get away with this because we are in a state of emergency. The longer he keeps this a state of emergency, the longer he can keep doing whatever he wants. Also, he said Wolf is dragging his feet on the unemployment, he was supposed to hire a lot of people to help and he hasn't done it. Leave a comment on AG Barr's comment line. 1-202-353-1555."

Once again, a case where good policy and good politix are 100% the same thing, inseparable, a no-brainer.

Every bail-out state is one of the very badly run Dem states. None of their extremis is the fault of anyone but themselves, or the fault of any pandemic.

Gut tells me Trump will fail on this, or at least partly fail. Which is yuuuge. But whatever. Only a small portion of wildly super-majority sensible policy approaches ever get adopted, even under Trump. And politics is still verboten, more or less, except of course for the vile bizarre vandalism of the Dems.

348 Grump I was surprised to see you didn't have an M1. Don't you have a BM-59, which would count?

Sorry I missed the gub thread, M1 day and all. Did read it.

Only one addition/correction.

Original, and perfectly "safe", loading instructions, were to use the thumb - in a sort upside-down "thumbs up" configuration, other fingers curled in - and push straight down on the clip.

The bolt releases only when downward pressure (transferred via the loaded clip) is *released* upwards, i.e., then the thumb is pulling off, up and forward. Even if you're slow doing this, bolt just knocks thumb up and forward a bit, no mashing.

WWII training films show this clearly.

The failsafe blade-of-hand-against-op rod handle method works, but it's not needed, rifle is not designed for it.

If (and I think this is a big if) it was to be Michelle, it would have to be as late as possible to make the switch. The less time she has to campaign the better.

From her standpoint, I think she only takes it if she looks like a sure thing - which means that Trump is a sure loser. Don't see how anyone could see that now.

I think Michelle will do what Hillary should have done in 2016. Not run, and just be remembered fondly by a majority of the American public. There is value in just being loved. Regardless of whether it is deserved or merited.

If they had told us early on that most people who get it will not die, I don't think there would be this kind of paranoia.

I scored a seven-pound store-brand corned beef flat for under twenty bucks yesterday. The "sell by" dates for this year's Saint Patrick's day corned beef are fast approaching. I think the points were all discarded since those have a sell-by about four weeks earlier than the flats.

Just 6 percent of black women do. Why?

In the late 90s/early 2000s all the big name rappers switched from bragging about being successful gangbangers to being successful legit businessmen. Sean Combs, Jay-Z, Master P, and several more. Trump is the ultimate version of that dream.

372 Ok, question for anyone to answer. Up until 2008 Joe Biden was just a senator and although had run for president in 1988 that lasted about a month. He successfully stopped the Bork nomination in 1987 but failed to stop Thomas in 1991.

I think way more people buy in to the corporate media narrative than they think. It seems in.

So if the narrative is "Biden's the only one who can beat Trump," then there are lots of NPC voters who believe that. Doesn't matter if the story lacks internal logic.

I remember people 4 years ago saying "Hillory has way more experience than anyone else."

Really?

I mean I don't fully understand how the progressive left in this country, which was ideologically very intertwined with the nazi party in germany before the war was able to not only distance themselves from that, but somehow make it look like the right had anything in common with the nazi's.

The Mitford Sisters were big stars on the Left: Jessica Mitford was an upper-class communist. But her sister, Unity Mitford, sided with the Nazis in the '30s. Now, in retrospect, historians like to claim that one sister veered left and the other veered right. But in reality, at the time, it was Unity Mitford who was trying out-socialist even her socialist family. She thought that the Nazis were the new cutting edge of socialism, not the fuddy-duddy socialism of her sister Jessica.

The story of the Mitfords was also the story of MANY "wealthy upper-class socialists" in that era. But the Left is so ashamed of this that they have attempted (and succeeded) to flip the narrative and pretend like the Nazi-loving socialists o the '30s were "right-wing."

We have, sadly, become a nation of people who
believe they should never have to move to secure work. And no, I am not
talking about people who accept a trade off (being near family vs. more
money). People expect that their line of work, whatever it is, should
be available wherever they want it to be.

Posted by: Nick in Tallahassee at April 27, 2020 03:15 PM (JRaU+)

Analysis, true.

There are always reasons but that is the point. People just don't move like they used to. And that does take away from the free market really. Once a market is truly static, businesses can take advantage of the de facto monopoly.

384 I see Hot Air poll trolling the Fox News Poll that shows Biden winning in Ohio...so Hot Air has, along with Fox, basically made the polling case at this point that Biden wins in a 50 state landslide. They don't even pause to think "hey, am I showing everyone at this point we're a bunch of imbeciles for thinking people fall for this shit?"

What is the over/under that if the DNC took out a contract hit on Trump, a Fox news poll would come out the next day that says 60% of Americans don't care or think he might have had it coming, and Allahpundit would then analyze those sweet, sweet tabs for you...

392 How did the Republicans come to be seen as "evil?" It's not like the Party ever supported Slavery or anything....

There's a collective consciousness that remembers deep south = the Klan. Deep south is now a Republican stronghold. Even though it's completely unfair, and a-historical nonsense, the left has successfully convinced itself that the "Southern Strategy" got deep south racists onto team R, and not old racist Democrats dying off and the next generation admiring the guns, God and freedom positions of the right.

398 What are the odds that Tara Reade's timely appearance on the national scene is a DNC plot to get rid of Biden and use it as excuse to hold a brokered convention? Gov. Cuomo come do you hear our plea?

Her current allegations appeared on a liberal pod cast with all the Kavanaugh protections against drawing hasty conclusions and taking them as ipso facto truth just because they came from a woman.

Turning over a new leaf makes it all the more credible that we're just baring the truth here--damning as it is!

399 People who are suckling at the FoxNews teat as "contributors" and "hosts" cannot call out their own network when it refuses to use its flagship Sunday chat to question prominent Democrats about credible allegations of forcible rape by the presumptive Democrat nominee. They are, in a word, compromised. That includes Sean, Tucker, Laura, Steve, Ainsley, Brian, and everyone who appears on their shows. It includes Lou Dobbs, it includes Greg and Jesse and Jeanine and Mark. They cannot criticize the producers and editors and executives and "on air" talent even on their own platforms. They can talk about the allegations, they can interview Reade and McHugh and the witnesses, they can question the Dem operatives who appear on their shows, but they cannot call out Neil and Bill and Chris and Shannon and Martha for failing to cover it. Compromised.
