Updates: Tape of Tara Reade's Mother on Larry King Live Found;
Is the "Female-Centric" Star Wars Leak a Political Game to Get Twitter SJWs to Save a Show That's About to be Defunded?

Here is the audio of what is believed to be Tara Reade's mother calling Larry King to ask what to do about a "prominent senator" giving his daughter an unspecified problem.

On the Kathleen Kennedy/"Leslye" Headland Soy Wars Revenge of the Lesbians series:

Midnight's Edge speculates, but quite plausibly, that someone from Kathleen Kennedy's camp or Leslye Headland's camp leaked this to keep Bob Iger and Bob Chapik from canceling it.

He speculates that the idea was to get the Twitter Cat Ladies obsessed with the idea of another female-centric Star Wars project (which they won't pay money to see, but they like the idea of taking something from boys) so that Iger and Chapik would know that they have to keep on funding this trainwreck or feature blowback from Kathleen Kennedy's trained Cat Ladies.

It's plausible. It's even more plausible when you remember that Kathleen Kennedy's contract renewal was also revealed by an anonymous leak.

See, Disney did not want to announce that publicly. If they wanted to announce it, they would have announced it. They wanted to keep it quiet because the Star Wars IP was on fire with controversy, with most demanding Kathleen Kennedy's resignation, but the Twitter Addict Cat Ladies demanding she be given an award for destroying a boy's adventure franchise.

Disney had no interest in making this contract renewal public -- but Kathleen Kennedy sure did. She was tired of, for example, Grace Randolf reporting that Bob Iger wanted to fire her -- and only kept her on because no one wanted the job as head of Lucasfilm.

She didn't like people thinking of her as a dead woman walking, so she leaked the contract renewal -- which Disney had given to her on the condition she keep quiet about it -- to Variety.

That's the speculation -- and it's some damn convincing speculation.

And here we are with another leak involving the Kathleen Kennedy Grrrl Power camp winding up in Variety.

Meanwhile, Clownfish -- who've worked with Disney animation -- report rumors that "the two Bobs" (Iger and Chapik) are "furious" about this latest leak that seems to have been leaked to again boost Kathleen Kennedy's power.

They point out that Hollywood is about to exercise a lot of force majeure contract terminations. Coronavirus counts as an Act of God, and you don't have to honor a contract if external events make it impossible or impractical for you to do so.

Hollywood is going to use the force majeure clause to terminate every contract they regret having made (and a fair number of ones they still would rather keep).

I've heard someone report that it's going to be "a bloodbath."

That strange groaning you heard was my pulsating erection attempting to speak its first word.

Anyway, when you think about this deal with this shovel-faced feminist cow, and consider that Disney just floated six billion in new debt to get it through a few months, and will have to float even more billions in debt to stay afloat...

...and that they expect their theme parks and cruise ships to be shut down at least through early 2021...

...and are furloughing thousands of workers and looking for more ways to save money...

Well, one has to imagine that "Cut that stupid lesbian Star Wars show" has to eventually be an idea that strikes the two Bobs.

So maybe Kennedy or Headlands leaked story that this stupid show exists (if only as a notion), so that the SJWs will save it from a force majeure termination.

If that's what happened, I'd say whoever did this just gave Disney the last justification needed to fire their asses, and I don't think the Twitter Cat Ladies could save them.

But Disney is a PC, c**k organization that only exists to instill children with leftwing propaganda, so maybe this will all work out for Kennedy and/or Headlands.

72 Funny, in all of this I have paid scant attention to Hollywood and sports.

Sports-wise, I actually love hockey and baseball, and I like football, but I find I miss it very little when I don't see it. I love the spectacle, and get caught up in the moment, but it's fleeting, and a week later I can't remember who won the World Series.

As for Hollywood, most of the new stuff is garbage, and I have rather large DVD/Blu-ray collection, so I can basically run movie and TV show collection for the rest of my life and not get bored, because they are all shows I like.

I am tired of celebrities whining and bloviating about how they are dealing with it. Probably better than me, sitting in my home office in my dining room in my 1800 square foot house. Boo fucking hoo.

89 We had Good Friday two weeks ago...

Now it's Good NEWS Friday (not that the other one is not really good news...you know).
We needed a run of good news! Thanks for bringing It, Ace.
I see Limbaugh laughing out loud all weekend over the questionless press conference... I'm smiling and I haven't done that in WEEKS.
Force majure is common in the (my) oil and gas contract world and should be in other worlds as well. When using it or having it used on me, it was the rest of the world and/or God getting a say in whether this bit of business that I have been sweating over is gonna happen. That it comes to Hollywood, theme parks and cruise lines is...what?...karma? Woo freakin' hoo!

Crozier did what was necessary. No one wanted to do what was necessary, and evacuate most of the ship.

It wasn't like China, Russia, and everyone already knew the Roosevelt was deadlined. It was tied up pierside in Guam for Fucks Sake. Of course it OUT OF SERVICE!

I am going through a divorce now, and when I'm asked why, I always say it's "because I don't hate Donald Trump." I've said this to thirty or forty people. About a quarter of those have immediately started spewing bile at me and ranting about how awful Trump is as a president, as a person, and as a lump of protoplasm. Although a couple of people have made generally positive statements about Pres Trump, no one has made comments about how you can't express any criticism of him.

This makes for a rather stark contrast.

Posted by: not so at April 24, 2020 07:29 PM (HALdu)

Star Wars wasn't measured in money. It was measured in cultural impact. It was measured by how long geeks had stood in line waiting for the opening of the next film, and how many news crews were there to cover the colorful geeks in that line. That is how you measured Star Wars and you don't just kill something like that easily..........and you don't just breathe life back into it once you've killed it.

The only stats I'm interested in are total daily deaths before/after covid hits the country. And even this is a skewed result in countries that had shutdowns since traffic deaths and even regular flu deaths probably declined.

I cannot find daily deaths in web searches I've tried.

Star Wars was very clever in that they created all sorts of non-movie content, and also expanded into Lego. Not just Lego kits (and there are a ton) but Lego cartoon and video games. Oh and I have read that apples have more potassium than bananas. I'm sure there is a web site that lists amounts for various fruits and veggies somewhere.

They are stacked on top of each other literally and figuratively. Their space for personal possessions is measured in cubic inches.

I worked with a bunch of Navy Nukes. They had no privacy, no personal space, and sometimes literally hot bunked. But they were devoted to the mission. I don't know how the rest of the US Military would have done in a war with USSR, but the US Submarine Force would have swept the seas.

I have no doubt that even sick, the sailors on the Roosevelt would have rushed to reboard the ship and sail if they were actually needed in a fight.

There was no reason that after they tied the ship up to the pier in Guam that they couldn't have evacuated the ship to quarantine and stop the infections----Except face and politics.

it is possible but I still doubt it. I do think Lucas made the lions share with merchandising. I realize they can do accounting tricks but that movie was the biggest blockbuster of its time. I think Jaws set the record and then Star Wars beat it. This is just basic memory as I don't keep up with that stuff. But if Star War the original and Raiders did not make money I would be very shocked.

385 I'm 54, my mom just turned 80. Entire life, never a negative word or feeling between us. Family has enjoyed discussing politics since the Clinton/Bush/Perot election cycle openly and mom always welcomed debate.

Since Trump, she has become an entirely different person. Has no problem insulting me and others who dare say anything that can be construed as critical toward Trump or what he does, no matter how seemingly innocuous the comment about him. ... It's been tough.

Sounds like Mom has been red-pilled and believes he is the last chance to avoid ACW 2.0 and has no patience for those that do not see what is plainly before them. I get the impression that you gladly took it upon yourself to "educate" your mother about the merits of Bill Clinton, etc. You pretty much have two choices: don't talk politics or alienate yourself from your mother --- your call.

Don't know about the accounting tricks on the first Star Wars, but several shows covering the original franchise mentioned that Empire was so successful Lucas gave everyone bonuses after its release.

Posted by: buzzion at April 24, 2020 08:02 PM (Z7lwY)

396 not sure what the commenter was discussing. Raiders and Star Wars were two of the most successful films of all time. It is still shocking how much Star Wars made considering it was a movie from the 70s. It still competes in raw numbers with movies made 40 years later. If you adjust for inflation it might have done better than Titanic and some other dreck that made a lot.

I know he made money off of merchandising and probably did stiff the actors. But the idea that that movie lost money is pretty much absurd. Maybe he was thinking of something else, no biggie. I thought the sci fi guys would chime in and not leave it to a guy who likes westerns.

399 Disney assessment: let's see. Theme parks, large crowd dependent, check. Cruise line, ditto, check. Movies: need lots o butts in seats, check. ESPN: are games interesting with or without fans in seats, we will see. ABC: hahahahaha. Souvenir stores: hmm, folks kinda got to like all the other stuff, we'll see. Expensive eateries and hotels adjacent to the parks, also require butts in seats and backs on beds, check. Not understanding the real magic of the old product with a significant audience, from Star Wars to Old Mickey, check. Too dumb to learn that Mrs. Lucas was the key to SW success, check. Not looking Too Good.

I am reminded of Wimbledon: someone in their organization was wise enough to purchase (for a huge annual premium) pandemic insurance. Just paid off for 2020 tournament. And a Japanese small town mayor that kept costs in line in his town and spent the annual (small or large) budget surplus on raising the town's tsunami wall. Worked out for him and the town the same time the nearby nuke plant got wet. Planning for what is inevitable is not fun usually, but must be done.

As much as I wish it were otherwise, I don't think Star Wars or Star Trek or similar franchises are killable short of them featuring trannies. Nerd culture has metastasized; there's a cohort of it that resembles the crowd who love science sexually. They more or less cannot be turned off by bad movies.

Posted by: Robert at April 24, 2020 07:36 PM (u8n0

most star wars geeks had no issue with casuals. It was a war between the woke and the superfans, with the latter wanting good movies and the woke unable to provide one.

It would not have been impossible to make a female Luke work, but they could not resist the temptation to destroy the old characters, the old plotlines and canon and replace them with the talentless moaning from womens studies courses.

Even as recently as Harry Potter you could have a female wizard be just as good or better as the lead without a lot of issues. But they had to destroy the male characters and leave the female characters empty, dead shells of people.
