Epstein Guard Willing to Cooperate With Invesgitators

I don't expect this means a lot, but you know, Epstein did not kill himself.*

A Manhattan prison guard is willing to cooperate with a federal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's death -- even though she's been accused of goofing off while he hanged himself, her lawyer said Wednesday.

Tova Noel "did not make any efforts to frustrate the Government's investigation" following Epstein’s jailhouse suicide, defense lawyer Jason Foy said in a statement.

"In fact, Ms. Noel remains available to fully and truthfully cooperate with the Inspector General’s investigation, which is also geared toward uncovering the many problems that existed from the commencement of her employment [and] which continue to plague the Metropolitan Correctional Center."

Foy didn't respond to a message asking what sort of info Noel could provide.

* As I've said, I actually think Epstein did kill himself. The idea of corrupt cops working for Hillary Clinton or the Royal Family bumping him off is just too big a thing for me to accept, on an intuitive, gut-guess level.

But I think it's generally salutary to distrust the government to the very maximum.

I also think it's funny to upset the Hall Monitors in our media and government who freak out if you mention a non-liberal-approved Conspiracy Theory.

Posted by: TheQuietMan at November 21, 2019 01:17 PM (mpeBU)

63 I'm beginning to wonder if this is like the plot of a famous G.K. Chesterton "Father Brown" short story.

In the story, just as in Epstein's case, a man is locked in a cell with absolutely no way in or out -- no windows, no vents, nothing, except for a single solid door. Several people are standing outside the door, and they hear the guy inside yelling, "Oh dear! Help! Hellpppp!" Everyone is alarmed and think he is being killed. One guy says "I'll rush inside to see what happened to him!" He opens the door, rushes inside and immediately yells, "The man in the cell has been murdered!" Lo and behold, everyone else rushes in to see that he has indeed been murdered.

But how could that have happened? There was no one in the cell with him at the time.

Father Brown eventually deduces that the man in the cell had, at first, NOT been murdered. And that the killer was in fact the first guy who rushed in, who very quickly killed the victim and only THEN announced he had been murdered.

(And yes, this plot device was later re-used in the first episode of the "Death in Paradise" British comedy-mystery TV series, in case it seems familiar.)

So I'm wondering: Who exactly was it that "discovered" Epstein's "body." Was the discoverer alone? How many seconds/minutes went by before the initial discoverer informed anyone else?

Why is a female prison guard working in the men's prison?

Wherever they have had female guards in male prisons, one or both of these things generally happen. I thought the criminal justice system wised up and stopped being stupidly PC and removed all female guards from male prisons.

Epstein was given word, somewhere, somehow, that made him decide that living was worse than dying.

Ummm, no. There are quite a few female staff, not just guards, roaming around in this country's prisons.

So much of this stuff is extraordinarily routine. Most prisoners aren't violent, most prisons aren't hellholes of chaos. Most of the time, it's people (prisoners and staff alike) going about their day to day existence, as if it's normal. Because to them, it is.

So yeah, there are women staff who get abused and/or used by prisoners to smuggle in shit, but really, male staff are just as susceptible to being corrupted as women staff.

My presumption is that someone "helped" Epstein kill himself - that it wasn't actually murder - and they might have been in that cell for a long time. I can believe someone convincing Epstein to do so when the alternative is a lifetime of prison rape.

Epstein doing it by himself though? He's a pimp, not a secret agent.

The effect is the same: dead pedo. But arguably, there's no actual crime committed. Plus, murder has a nasty habit of spiraling out of control and causing more problems than it solves.

Regardless, I'm enjoying the squirming going on from various miscreants every time a sarcastic right-winger says Epstein Didn't Kill Himself.

So I searched "Bolivia News" on google and got pages of links that said "New Dictatorship Forming!" "Army leads Coup against Democratically elected President!!" "Army Massacres Peaceful Protestors!" Nothing but that kind of stuff from every fringy site on the web.

BUT if you go with Duck Duck Go, you "New Government Scheduling elections" "Morales Supporters attempt to shut down food and fuel shipments" and "Morales attempted to turn Bolivia into a Narco-State."

The tone in coverage is so vastly different that it's amazing. And this from supposedly "neutral" search engines.

261 @125

Having worked in corrections (state level) for a long time there are a couple reasons why female officers work in male prison facilities and vice versa.

The 1st reason is who can search visitors -- much like how male police officers on the street must call for a female officer to conduct a search of a female suspect. Female correctional officers can perform physical searches of female visitors that male officers are prohibited from conducting.

The 2nd reason has to do with job assignment discrimination. Because female offenders are often a much smaller population compared to male offenders there are fewer facilities to house females. This means that from a job assignment (and billets to promote qualified candidates into) it would limit female correctional officers from ever holding higher rank or assignments compared to male officers. So all job assignments must be open to all applicants provided they meet all other requirements (time in service/grade, education, etc.)

Posted by: Nevyan at November 21, 2019 01:51 PM (uM5FU)

262 I am not defaming anyone as anyone who does a job well should be proud. But Liddy said there were two types of people in prison. There was the group that was forced to spend their days in prison and there was the group that volunteered to spend their days in prison. That is Liddy talking.
Posted by: Quint at November 21, 2019 01:41 PM (n13/j)

Kind of true. And, in a sense, there are lots of guards who view the job as a deadender, and they get a mindset that they're victims of the system, more than the prisoners.

Corruptions among guards often comes from that perspective. They MADE me take this rotten job, to endlessly watch over these bad people, so I'm gonna get mine where I can.

I disagree. My sister has lived with an Englishman since 1972, She lived first in Australia and then in England since then. She sounds rather English when she talks on the phone because she is surrounded by English people. She still has a NJ accent but with an English overlay, and she's not a person that would fake anything.

There was a very good video piece done a few years back which went into detail into how all the regional American accents were descended from the British regional accents corresponding to the colonists in those area. Britain used to have far greater variety than it does in the 20th century (there's still some) What we call King's English is mainly London and Oxford English. Most northern american accents are descended from Yorkshire, and the Boston accent is believed to be derived from an early to mid 19th century Irish accent, which was much different than a modern Irish accent. (And Ireland had regional accents as well, especially a city/country split)

My wife is Bolivian who I met when I lived down there. Morales is a typical incompetent anti-American socialist who held a knife to the countries throat for years with chaos, blockades and strikes until he finally manged to get elected after his mobs forced a competent, pro-American president to resign and flee the country. He was starting his fourth term although limited by the constitution to two and finally run out of power and the country after the fraud became too obvious to ignore and the military abandoned him.

You can;t imagine the pleasure I get from this ironic end and only wish he received some of the bloodshed his mobs inflicted on others in his rise to power.

395 I am pretty good with English accents.

A
weird irony of the show Frasier is that Daphne was supposed to be from
Glasgow. She spoke with a Glaswegian accent. Of course the actress
Jane Leeves was not from Glasgow and never sounded like a Glaswegian.
She took a lot of guff over that. I still don't understand why they made
her from Glasgow when the actress was not from there and could not do
the accent. What was the point in that? It is not like Americans would
know the difference from one town to the next.

Another
funny thing about Frasier is when Martin calls his umbrella a
Bumbershoot. Daphne responds that it is nice for an American to use her
native tongue. But Bumbershoot is not a British term at all, it is an
American term for an umbrella. Obviously none of the writers or actors
knew this bit of trivia.
