Oliver Darcy Brags That It Was Media Pressure, Such as That Exerted By Himself, That Got FaceBook, YouTube, and Apple to Ban InfoWars;
Now Pushes for Twitter to Ban InfoWars Too

Journalist or leftwing censorship activist?

Choose your lane.

Is he going to pretend he's reporting the news here, when he's obviously making the news, by pressuring companies into banning someone whose politics he doesn't like?

At the end of his advocacy in that first clip, he says now we'll wait to see if these standards are enforced against the right "and the left."

Yeah, I wouldn't count on Oliver Darcy applying similar pressure to these companies about, say, Antifa's violence-promoting accounts:

But I'm sure now that this oversight has been brought to this leftwing zealot's attention, he'll get right on that.

Sargon of Akkad says they're just going after the lowest-hanging fruit first.

But the precedents set here will be used to deplatform higher-hanging fruit.

They're coming for you soon.

They've decided that free speech is too dangerous to allow to anyone but themselves.

While they defend their fellow leftists' outright racism and promotion of real violence, not the #FakeNews type that makes the media wet its panties, they work diligently to censor anyone criticizing the press.

It is the exact same reason for the Mannefort trial. Anyone who dare support Donald J Trump will be subject to FedGov harassment and worse. And the Gov Press, ABCBSNBCNN, will spend much of their 22 minutes per broadcast smearing your name.

Ok. Stop laughing.

I know that has never really existed. But once upon a time there was at least the pretense of impartiality and of reporting, not driving, the news. Any hope of recovering from the current state of affairs? These hacks have certainly exposed themselves as utter frauds. But is there any corrective available? Yes, CNN has dwindling viewership, but I don't see that necessarily putting a stop to this jackassery.

****************************

Companies that get too big should either be broken down or converted into utilities once they clearly show they're abusing their monopoly status in favor of political ideology or acting as a proxy for democrats in power. in which case they are no longer a legitimate business but acting in collusion with the government.

Consider this: if Google de-indexes your website, what alternative do you have to gain the same level of traffic elsewhere?

Tim didn't mention this possibility, and neither did any of the comments that I skimmed, but I suspect that they're also very interested in knowing what political groups we've all donated to.

Today in my LinkedIn (owned by Microsoft) feed there was an article titled "The Jobs Nobody Wants", detailing all these jobs begging for people, but Americans don't want them. Among those jobs that nobody wants, construction. Uhm no you fucktards, Americans want those jobs. But in most of the country it is impossible for a non-Hispanic to get a construction job. And of course the conclusion was since no lazy Americans want these jobs, the only logical solution is to bring in foreigners to do the work.

I can really remember why. The potential reasons for such a decision are numerous and varied (Cuckerberg himself, giving Cuckerberg his web traffic for free, the general retarditude of most Facebook practioners, Facebook's not so outward liberalism at that time, etc). I remember thinking at the time that I really would like to have an Ace feed on my Facebook page, so I was bummed a little and I though Ace could have expanded exposure through FB.

As it turns out, Ace was prescient. By never delving into that, he remains a free blogger, free from tyranny from Facebook overlords and able to have ZFG about what the lefties say.

When they so heavy-handedly censor what you're allowed to say on their platforms, they are no longer "open forums" in any meaningful sense of that term. They are now officially endorsing what left-wingers say there, and choosing not to publish opposing viewpoints.

In practice, they actually do police their user-generated content as a publisher would.

They need to face some lawsuits. Libel, death threats; you name it, they are guilty of endorsing it.

Fascism is descending upon America in the guise of Anti-fascism.

These companies need to be regulated like utilities and public accommodations like the phone company or power company.

The situation we have now is like the phone company deciding it
would not route the RNC's phone calls or the power company refusing to
supply power to their buildings.

I would prefer there were some market based solution but these
companies have assumed an unassailable advantage and prominence in the
market place and cannot easily be circumvented by alternatives.

Imagine the power company not supplying you with power and trying to find an alternative, it cannot be done.

It was supposed to be a chance for more liberty, more freedom of speech, more "diversity".

Well, we see where that has led us. So people with huge amounts of money (Billions!!!!) are determined to control this for "our own good", which really means for their own good.
Because nobody sustains some kind of altruistic action for more than about 5 minutes.
If you have a lot of money and power, you usually want a lot more. And you have convinced yourself a LONG time ago that you are much smarter than most other people and you have every (monetary) right to use them like pawns to get what you want.

Not only will the internet soon NOT be free, but participating in blogs like this will likely get you doxxed, and put on a list. You may have trouble with your bank soon. That's how this works. Once Ace of Spades gets a kind of classification and we can all be doxxed pretty easily, you can end up being a neo-Nazi or a child molester if you post here.
It will be the death of internet "free speech" except for tolerated speech. So get thee to Huffington Post and repent.

No, it doesn't. It just has the traffic, but no one forces that traffic, there. That traffic can also dry up any day.

The problem is not Youtube or FarceBook or Twatter. The problem is the internet immaturity of people. The reason that first sites keep traffic long beyond any reasonable time frame is only due to people still not reaching a reasonable level of sophistication with the internet, yet. It will probably take another decade or two. But, as of now, internet branding is gold. But they are not monopolies. The only people to blame for the power of these corporations are the customers and users who willingly give them all that power.

YouTube is, after all, owned by Google.

On Even numbered days they are a public accomadation, on Odd numbered days the are a private company with the right to discriminate.
Or, whenever they are in court. Like trying to nail down Jello.
There's always room for Jello.

Expect to see (or maybe not if they're clever about it) the reduction of coverage for other accounts being given the same treatment.

Surprisingly of course it will only happen to conservative/Trump fan accounts. Those that are considered threats to the seizure of the electorate to de-elect Trump and stop his dismantling of their Messiahs legacy.

Instead, they're now advertising U-Verse. You can get U-Verse TV just about anywhere. Fiber-optic U-Verse internet, on the other hand, is another matter entirely. Most "somebody else's" with publicly available DNS entries offer this service for free, because they get something out of it (i.e. your eyeballs and your information).

It's convenient to talk about the internet as a "virtual place", but I don't know how much legal salience that conception has. I don't know much about either legal issues or technology issues, so I can't say any more than to just bring that point up and hope someone else runs with it.

331 F'd @9:15... This is incorrect.

There are liability laws in place for publishing hate speech, defamation, and death threats and stuff like that.

These companies avoid such liabilities by claiming to be open forums, that anybody is free to use. They're not responsible for what you say there, because they're open to everyone, see?

When they police the content on their platforms the way they do, they can no longer claim to be open forums. Their status changes. They're not open forums; they're now publishers who control their editorial content.

They allow and publish left-wing death threats and general calls for violence, while banning, for example, conservative comic-book fans for saying trans-woman Mags Visaggio is a terrible comic-book writer.

They are not an open forum, whatever they might claim. They are a publisher, and an endorser, of the extreme left-wing hate speech that continues unabated on their platforms.

They need to suffer some lawfare.

You know, I really don't have any problem if a celebrity is interviewed, and asked what their opinion of the president (whoever it is) is, and they say, "bah, that guy sucks."... and then move on.

You don't have to love the guy, we can all disagree, whatever...

But sadly we don't live in that world anymore.

because now that a nominal "R" is in office, "Bah, that guy sucks" is the ONLY accepted answer. It is your secret password. It is the cover charge for public acceptance. (compare and contrast Kim Kardashian refusing Jimmy Kimmel's breathless panicked attempts to goad her into repeating the sacred magic shibboleths of The Late Night Interview)

Just saying "I don't really mind that Donald Trump is president" on TV is the cultural equivalent of a German actress in 1940 saying, "You know, I'm not quite sure about this Hitler fellow...."

If your opinion involves something that tweaks their mental illness in the wrong way, they want you dead - because that way, you'll never say such inconvenient things again.

(even though any gay dudes who want a dude to ogle at during the game have THE ENTIRE GODDAMN TEAM ON EITHER SIDE!!!!... but I digress)

But it isn't about that.

It's the NFL saying "We're going to do something absurd and stupid that doesn't help anybody, doesn't improve the game or the lives of anyone associate with the game, and is intended to be a big fat thumb in your eye for daring to give us all a hard time about our Commie Bullshit Kneeling Fiasco." What they are really saying is "This is what we want to do to Trump. And you. But we can't. Yet."

The only politicians they shadowban are on the Right.
The only bloggers they censor are on the Right.
The only political ads they ban are on the Right.
The only videos they suppress are on the Right.
The only hate speech they can find is on the Right.

Twitter's co-founder: "It's a very bad thing, Twitter's role in that. If it's true that he wouldn't be president if it weren't for Twitter, then yeah, I'm sorry."

Imagine if a telephone company CEO said "It has come to our attention that Republicans credit their recent victories to their telephone outreach. It's a very bad thing, the phone companie's role in that and I'm sorry for it. So I have instituted a secret program to shadowban their phone calls by giving them a busy signal most of the time."

Not only is it outrageous discrimination, but it is also a fraud on users, who are not told they will be censored, and a fraud on advertisers, who are not told these companies are suppressing traffic because Leftist politics is Job #1.

And now they have entered into a conspiracy to silence one man?

The only people more unaware of how idiotic this looks is...

CNN comes on and takes credit for being the ring leader of this collusion.

Brilliant! /s

Plus they are celebrating their ability to censor free speech. So now Trump can say: CNN really is the enemy of free speech. A bigger threat then Russia to American liberty.

Brilliant x 2! /s

471 The fire didn't have to melt the beams. It only had to soften them until they couldn't support the load.

This has been well established.

Actually, the aluminum from the airliners was burning (and that it ignites at a lower temperature than steel), but once it begins to burn, it burns hot enough to melt steel.

There was some recent video from the World Trade Center that showed the molten aluminum from airliners burning.

475 I am completely shocked that internet companies who bend over and spread 'em for the Communist Chinese would do the same thing for American Communist Progressive Democrats!

478 When elected politicians coordinate with journalists corporation, social media and activists to shut down political opposition?

You are no longer living in a free nation.

It's called tyranny.

480 they did the low hanging fruit last year by deplatforming the alt right, including banning them from credit card processing services. Nobody defended them. Alex is phase 2, and I doubt he can muster any real defense either. When all the footsoldiers are gone, and boomers like ace get banned all you people will have left to fight on your side is people who install 7 toolbars and type google.com into the google search box

481 If your argument is strong and your philosophy can stand on its own, you don't need to censure an opposing argument or position. It's that simple.
