Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Someone Close to Nikolas Cruz Called the FBI On January 5th To Warn Them About Cruz's Gun Ownership, His Threats to Kill People, and His Disturbing Social Media Posts, but the FBI Failed to Investigate"If you see something, say something" is pointless if the authorities don't actually do something.
The FBI says it failed to investigate a specific report in January that Nikolas Cruz could be plotting a school shooting. The agency said Friday that the tip should've been investigated thoroughly because it was a potential threat to life....No shit, really? On Jan. 5, a tipster who was close to Cruz called the FBI and provided information about Cruz’s guns, desire to kill people, erratic behavior and disturbing social media posts. The FBI says the caller expressed concerns Cruz could attack a school. The FBI was also notified about a comment on a YouTube video posted by a "Nikolas Cruz" last year. It investigated the comment but did not determine who made it.Are their computers seriously incapable of running a search for the uncommon name "Nikolas Cruz" and determining they've had two warnings about a mass shooting regarding this guy? 3... 2... 1... before the LEO jock-sniffers rush in to tell us "if you criticize clear failures by the FBI or our intel communities, you're undermining their precious authority and are also a PUTIN SPY." I had the same problem with these sorts of people during the Ebola outbreak, when the same sort of authority-worshipping, the-plebes-must-be-reassured-of-our-competence-even-if-it-means-lying-to-them assholes kept bleating that we must Have Faith In Our Bureaucrats or else we are Subversives. Despite the fact that the head of the NIH was on tv lying to the public, claiming ebola could not be spread by a sneeze. (Spoiler alert: It could, and it was.) Fuck you. Authority and trust are earned, not owed. There's only a single special case where authority and trust are thought to be owed, not earned, and that is to God. Those who suggest that the same obligatory faith must be extended to government workers are engaging in a bizarre form of idolatry. There's a thing called "accountability," and it doesn't stop at the threshold of a government bureaucrat's office door. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1
Given that the FBI thought the Tsaernev brothers and Omar Mateen were good to go, even if they had interviewed Nikolas Cruz, they probably would have been like, "Kid seems OK to me."

The failure to investigate two different tips about the same individual should result in criminal charges against the FBI/specifically those persons who had better things to do than investigate tips from the tipline - if you are with somebody who commits a murder you can also be charged even if the other person commits the murder.

Here's the thing. I know the FBI - or the police, or the CIA, or whoever - is not going to catch EVERYONE. I know that even the best warning system in the world is not going to be 100% effective. I know that people are going to slip through the cracks, and sometimes those crack-slippers are going to go on and commit horrific atrocities. I know that it will come out after the fact that the FBI (or cops, or CIA, whoever) were "made aware" of these threats but, for whatever reason, failed to act on them.
I know all these things, and I try to keep an open mind and say, "Mistakes happen." I know when you're dealing with horrific situations like the Parkland shooting, those mistakes are amplified a thousand times because people are dead; CHILDREN are dead. I try to keep in mind that someone somewhere now has it on their conscience, "This happened because I didn't do/see/anticipate/recognize XYZ." I know that a lot of the GOOD things the FBI (cops, CIA, etc) do aren't publicized. I know "It bleeds, it leads" is just as true on social media as in legacy media. I know that classified operations need to stay classified, which means that the NSA could have prevented a new 9/11 a dozen times over and it wouldn't be revealed because the avenues and methods that made it possible to prevent the attack need to remain compromised. I know all these things and I sympathize, because it's bad enough when I make a mistake in MY penny-ante job, where one error isn't the end of the world and no one's going to die from it, and I can't imagine what it's like where an error leads to dozens dead. But when it KEEPS HAPPENING, my sympathy starts to wane. And that's where I'm at right now with the FBI. If they want to start rehabilitating their image they need to start publicizing some of the nightmare situations they've prevented, because right now all I'm hearing and thinking about are the crack-slippers. When someone at the FBI says, "We couldn't identify this YouTube commenter," even though the YouTube commenter posted UNDER HIS OWN NAME, I start to lose faith. I start to suspect they aren't actually doing their job and are instead f*cking off at their computers all day, watching porn and inventing Russian conspiracy theories. I start to think maybe, just maybe, it's not just the administrators and appointed directors who are the problem, but the rank and file, too. And the problem for the FBI is: I'm not alone. Haven't checked for any truly expert observer reaction, but here's my guess:
these indictments are Mueller folding his tent. As he was, some day, going to have to do. one of the YouTube videos I saw, a guy had this Crz killer comment on one of his videos that he would be a high school shooter. He notified the FBI (and You-Tube) and they talked to him at his house, got the screenshot (You-Tube removed after he reported it) ... but they did nothing.
Seems clear they had the capability to identify the shooter but for whatever reason decided NOT to proceed. "Stand Down" was Obama's favorite order ... Benghazi, Ferguson (where the governor was in touch with Jarrett, and had his National Guard there but they stood down and gave room to riot). "Stand Down" was always the order at the border, where Obama actually picked up the human traffic from the coyotes, and bussed them around the country. Thanks Obama. Firstly, I am very thankful that my fuck-ups don't come with body counts. But this is the FBI. There has to be a process by which calls likes this are handled. Ace hit it on the head. There has to be accountability for this. Accountability that comes as close to commensurate with the scope and scale of this tragedy as can be had within the reality of what can be done. Firings, prosecutions, etc.

Of course, that is part of the story. But I wonder if there isn't something else. That being an attitude that law enforcement isn't really their job except in so far as it promotes their - or their political masters' - interests. 1) flew illegally in a park 2) flew too high 3) flew too close to an airport 4) allegedly harassed wildlife or flew where wildlife might be harassed How is it that these types of "crimes" are prosecuted so readily, but the FBI can't follow up on a potential mass murderer? Nearly a quarter century ago was the Richard Jewel Atlanta Olympics bombing fiasco. An innocent man was hounded while the real bomber went free and eventually planted more bombs. Killed a cop.
At about the same time I heard an IT contractor describe dealing with the FBI; the impossibility of getting managers to understand the work, the jealousy over credit and turf, managers fossilized into their jobs. Then there was the Kansas City Massacre of 1833, where panicked FBI agents shot each other and a couple of career criminals who had nothing to do with it were scapegoated by Jedgar. The bureau has had problems for a long, long time. Posted by: Semi-Literate Thug at February 16, 2018 01:26 PM (JPEYg) 296

This is reminiscent of pre- 9/11, when the FBI was repeatedly informed by flight schools, foreign governments, domestic tipsters, and even their own agents (in Phoenix), that a major terror attack involving U.S. airplanes was being plotted, and they did nothing.
Seriously, what are we paying these people for? They can't perform the most basic functions of their task -- which is supposed to be investigating. They don't even seem to understand the meaning of the word. Meanwhile, how many Americans have been wrongfully convicted of crimes due to bullshit testimony from so-called analysts at the FBI crime lab? They have been proven time and again to have used junk science to convict innocent people in cases involving the FBI's "expert" hair analysis, arson analysis, etc. Meanwhile, the left continues to screech and scream about more gun control laws, as if that would solve anything. All we need to do is pass tough gun laws, and then all these mass shootings will magically stop. They blame the NRA, and Trump, and anybody else they can think of. But they never explain why tough gun laws, which have already been passed in places like England and France and Norway, have not stopped mass shootings there. It is nearly impossible for a private citizen to legally get a gun in England, but that didn't stop the mass shooting at the Dunblane school, which killed 17. It's also nearly impossible for a private citizen to legally get a gun in Norway, but that didn't stop Anders Brevik from getting guns and shooting up a camp full of kids, killing 77 of them. It is also nearly impossible to legally get a gun in France, but that didn't stop multiple muslim terrorists there from getting lots of them, and using them to shoot dead dozens of people in the Charlie Hebdo attacks, the Jewish grocery store attacks, or the greater Paris attacks (where over 100 were shot dead in coordinated shootings across the city). Why would passing tough gun laws stop mass shootings here in the U.S., when it hasn't worked anywhere else it has been tried? Posted by: TrivialPursuer at February 16, 2018 01:30 PM (fqUgw) 330

So caught most of Rosie's statement. Nothing. Basically.
The dumbing down of America is, I fear, beyond repair. The only way that anything remotely resembling this idiotic "investigation", and Rosie's laughable, illegal creation of the special counsel to begin with, were possible, is in a country dumbed down enough, with institutions degraded enough, to allow them. Meanwhile, massive, massive, crude, obvious, undeniable destruction of election integrity continues with nary a comment, much less investigation or action. Wayne County, MI, for example. Massive corruption *WITH* an impact on election outcomes. Russians are to alien and clueless to laugh - with any understanding - at America. Also look up the curious money laundering prosecution of HSBC and their hiring of James Comey to clean up and prevent more drastic action for a quaint reminder of Mueller. He is corrupt and I suspect the more that he struggles to bring forth a mouse the more the sunlight burns him like a vampire.

Threw this out at the same time of presser, from daily caller.
FBI Admits It Mishandled Tip On Florida Shooter On January 5, 2018, a person close to Nikolas Cruz contacted the FBI's Public Access Line (PAL) tipline to report concerns about him. The caller provided information about Cruz's gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting. Under established protocols, the information provided by the caller should have been assessed as a potential threat to life. The information then should have been forwarded to the FBI Miami Field Office, where appropriate investigative steps would have been taken. We have determined that these protocols were not followed for the information received by the PAL on January 5. The information was not provided to the Miami Field Office, and no further investigation was conducted at that time. oy vey Posted by: artisanal 'ette at February 16, 2018 01:40 PM (fceHP) 432

I suspect that Mueller is trying to save his own butt. He is butt deep in Uranium One and will probably either have to turn state's evidence or face prosecution himself.

The FBI: Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy:
Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people: First, there will be those who are devoted to the goals of the organization. Examples are dedicated classroom teachers in an educational bureaucracy, many of the engineers and launch technicians and scientists at NASA, even some agricultural scientists and advisors in the former Soviet Union collective farming administration. Secondly, there will be those dedicated to the organization itself. Examples are many of the administrators in the education system, many professors of education, many teachers union officials, much of the NASA headquarters staff, etc. The Iron Law states that in every case the second group will gain and keep control of the organization. It will write the rules, and control promotions within the organization. *** The end result of organizational capture by the second group, means that competence and ability are rated less valuable than organizational "loyalty". The result is that soon, people of merit will not even try, and actually leave the organization. A perfect example is John O'Neill, who was the FBI expert in counter-terrorism from 1995, until he resigned, because he was pushed out by those organizational types. Mueller, Comey, etc are all organizational types, who are not really and have never been about competence and merit. His next job was head of security for the World Trade Center. He was killed on September 11, 2001, by the largest act of terrorism in modern history. Now, isn't that ironic? Biggest mistake of Bushworld was to kiss CAIRS a** and have Mueller FBI train agents not to inquire about the religious dogma of Muslims they interviewed. Then we have the FBI ignoring this warning. The problem is that the FBI guys collect evidence that either allows them to close an inquiry or recommend a prosecution. FBI agents are not equipped to determine the mental health of a suspect. What should happen is the FBI send the inquiry to local law enforcement. If they screw it up, then the locals have some sort of response.
