Profiles in Conservative Courage: Now That Nancy Pelosi Has Denounced Antifa, Paul Ryan Permits His Spokeswoman To Mumble Some Disapproval as Well

Tell me more about this brave, dreamy "conservative leader," SubRight apologists.

A "conservative leader" who needs the cover of ultraprog Nancy Pelosi before he'll have his spokeswoman simper out a statement to the Daily Caller is neither conservative nor a leader.

He's just a stuffed-shirt pansy, like 40% of this party and 90% of its rulers.

By the way, this statement was an exclusive to the Daily Caller. The Daily Caller is not a huge media organ like the Washington Post -- Paul Ryan not only squeaked out his mouselike disapproval through his spokeswoman, but put it out to a small online operation where only people on the right would be likely to see it.

Here's Brave Sir Ryan's statement. Whoops, scratch that -- here's what Brave Sir Ryan's spokeswoman said, only to the Daily Caller, in response to a phone-call campaign and press inquiries to ferret out his position on antifa:

“Speaker Ryan believes, as is obvious, these individuals are left-wing thugs, and those who are committing violence need to be arrested and prosecuted. Antifa is a scourge on our country,” Ryan’s spokeswoman AshLee Strong said in a statement provided exclusively to The Daily Caller.

Speaker Ryan has been criticized by many conservatives for what was viewed as a weak response to the violent activists.

The hell with these people. These people are as much my enemy as the Washington Post's progwarriors.

At least the Social Justice Warriors are honest and upfront about being my opponent. Snakes like Brave Sir Ryan pretend to be allies while scheming with the progs to control you.

As I sort of gamed out in the Morning Report, the GOP has now nowhere else to go vis a vis promising that THIS time, they're for real in 2018.

If they lose the House, it's not necessarily a big deal since they are acting as de-facto Democrats in preventing the PDT agenda from advancing.

If they continue doing this, it will be the death knell of the GOP. Most will go to the Democrats and the rest will join PDT in forming some sort of new party.

And Bernie is hell bent on splitting from the Democrats and taking the base with him.

Fuck Ryno.

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at August 31, 2017 01:49 PM (mbhDw)

19 I remember in 2010 and it looked like the Republicans were going to win the House, and I was like, woohoo! John Boehner as Speaker!

And then I was like, oh. You know, like the Russian mobster, when he is talking to Leguizamo about his son stealing a car, and Lequizamo says "It's John Wick's car."

That kind of "oh."

So then, Boehner quit and Ryan decided, hey, I will be your huckleberry - but only if you ask me nicely and if you promise to vote for me unanimously.

This was after - AFTER - he had his ass kicked by paste eating Joe Biden in a debate.

So think about it. The BEST that the House GOP could come up with was someone who couldn't even run even with JOE BIDEN.

Where do we get such people?

54 The key to getting the GOP to do what we want is getting their large donors to want them to do what we want.

There is not a single elected official at the federal level who cares about what their constituents want as long as there is cash to be pocketed. The only possible exception is Trump, because he doesn't need the money.

"In California, as across all of our great nation, we have deep reverence for the Constitutional right to peaceful dissent and free speech. Non-violence is fundamental to that right. 89 You probably cannot Cantor Ryan --- i.e., primary him out --- because his district is too squishy. But the anti-Ryan voters may have the power to throw the general to the Democrat.

It would be well worth it. One lousy House seat isn't worth a POS 'leader.'

When it comes to the Senate, or worse yet POTUS, voting for the Dem may be too high a price to pay. But the House? No.

I think of it like this. Consider this standard literary trope: there is a child who inherits an estate. But until he comes of age he is too naive to be entrusted with it. So the family lawyer manages it on heir's behalf. But the family lawyer is evil and embezzles everything and the heir is too naive to know what is going on, and so does nothing until it is too late. The voters are like the naive heir, and people like Ryan are like the crooked lawyer.

170 Ryan, sadly, is very representative of his "class". Very small, not very bright*, essentially useless.

Look at the repulsive, idiotic response of GOP public figures after C'ville. And no excuses - some of us needed 5 minutes to correctly conclude that there were no larger issues involved in C'ville (apart, perhaps, from the growing official collusion between elected Dem officials on state/city level and the most violent, and racist, "movement" in modern American history).

This is the trap the American people find themselves in. A tiny, morally cretinous GOP, with an insane, alien, vandal Dem party as the alternative.

* check out Ryan's economics stylings - he's a typical inch-deep Hill staffer lightweight, without the slightest real understanding of economics or any other important issue - a perfect example of the sub-mediocrity that now qualifies as "impressive" in the Beltway class

Posted by: rhomboid at August 31, 2017 02:18 PM (QDnY+)

Chronicling the slow decline of Commiefornia into a Third World country: Monterey County out here has rural roads with stacks of defunct toilets at roadside.

It's mostly the illegals who use the great outdoors as free disposal sites. These things haven't been disinfected before being dumped. A really nasty health hazard. Flies, reek, ugh. And sometimes in proximity to fields growing produce.

County government is filled with political allies of the illegals, who resist all efforts to get this sort of thing under control.

Similarly: the county maintains a costly mosquito abatement district. At the same time, the illegals are tossing thousands of used tires which become mass mosquito incubators. Fighting the fire while feeding the flames.

205 Oh, and we have some of our smartest commenters sometimes rationalizing or defending Ryan's performance as Speaker.

Ridiculous. Not many people really seem to understand how Congress actually works, can work, normally used to work.

The House is a dictatorship. It has been so run by many recent Speakers.

There is not the slightest excuse - that would be accepted by anyone who understands how the House usually does and can work - for not having all individual appropriations bills ready for the Senate - by now, or early September.

Continuing resolutions - esp. the "omnibus" ones - are nothing more than an elimination of politics, choices, and accountability, allowing the incumbents to hide from their (lazy, mostly uninformed) constituents.

A Speaker who wants to can make sure all approps bills are done in regular order, and a timely fashion. Easily. It is not the Senate (and even there a real leader can herd the cats MUCH more effectively than Mitch is doing when it comes to process).

Given that even people HERE don't understand this - after all, it is sort of boring inside process baseball - there's little hope the electorate will ever understand.

Thus my standing advice to Trump for months: no CRs beyond 10 days, no omnibus CRs of any duration. And lots and lots and lots of aggressive vituperative name-naming rhetoric to put the spotlight on key votes. Return politics to politics.

He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. And then I was like, oh. You know, like the Russian mobster, when
he is talking to Leguizamo about his son stealing a car, and Lequizamo
says "It's John Wick's car."

That kind of "oh."

So then, Boehner quit and Ryan decided, hey, I will be your
huckleberry - but only if you ask me nicely and if you promise to vote
for me unanimously.

This was after - AFTER - he had his ass kicked by paste eating Joe Biden in a debate.

So think about it. The BEST that the House GOP could come up with was someone who couldn't even run even with JOE BIDEN.

The big problem, though, was that even if the bill passed it meant nothing because nothing is binding on future Congresses.

Don't know what state you're in, but in many states, the school district gets funded by the state in direct relationship to how many butts they have in seats, nothing else. There is a big enough disconnect between the State financial apparatus and the local shools that most schools see lowered enrollment as a huge income loss, no matter why it happens.

That is why school districts hate charters - that is why they hate home schooling - and that is why they love to pack as many illegals into their classrooms as possible. Illegals are seen as a huge revenue boost for the district, as well as added job security.

309 antifa is the anti-AmericaFirst "junk yard dog" for the left but also for the CoCs and globalists.

The tea party took off when Rick Santelli was against the bailouts -- "reward the people that carry the water instead of bailing out thopse that just drink the water". And it got even worse since the people never really got the money, but Goldman got all their credit default swaps paid through manipulation of the system.

And those same Wall Street mobsters love using slave labor in lands that can pollute, that don't obey laws we pass "for the good of the people".

youtube.com/watch?v=bEZB4taSEoA

The rust belt left and non-public unions are closer to America First patriotism than the globalists and chamber of H-1B commerce.

American blacks should also be America First is they ever WOKE up to the real fact that third world browns have taken the American black job market, and not just in Compton. That is probably why the left has to push the psyop white supremacist/KKK narrative so long and hard, to keep the BLM/Maxine crowd at DefCon eleventy.

They really fear America might unite as Americans and reject the shadow globalist charade.

Conversely, the GOP congress has turned out to be much, much, much, much worse than I thought. Just to show how dumb I am, last year I thought people were *joking* about the Uniparty.

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at August 31, 2017 02:09 PM (mbhDw)

Agreed. The uni-party had to be disrupted by a Trump. Never expected it to happen, but then it did. And that would have been far more difficult IMO without the country hitting rock bottom in such a way that conservatives could no longer ignore it, or that a uni-party actually existed and could see that "lesser of two evils" voting was still the end of America, just a bit delayed.

Now, Romney might have shown that to be the case as he most certainly would have pushed globalist policies and not conservative policies. But I think one of Trump's major accomplishments was to clarify to the people that globalism was the central problem, as it is tied to collectivism and progressive ideology and corporatism/fascism.

Most of us face a turning point moral decision in our lives, that choice of two paths. There are many such choices, of course, but you generally know the big one when you encounter it.

He just forgot one key point: that shit only works on Democrats these days. Conservatives of various stripes have been screwed over so many times that just slapping labels on things doesn't work on them any more.
