Loyola University Snowflakes Demand "America"-Themed Party Be Changed to Something Less "Divisive"

As @sonnybunch remarked: "you stupid assholes."

Sums it up.

In the wake of Donald Trump's victory, some students and administrators at Loyola University Maryland aren't feeling very American anymore. As a result, they put pressure on the student-government to change its "America" theme party for seniors to something less "alienating, divisive, and harmful."

The theme was chosen last summer, long before Trump captured the White House. But the morning after Election Day, some students immediately began re-thinking the theme.

According to The Daily Caller, one female student told Loyola's Student Government Association that she felt like "a victim of horrible hate words," and expected to be re-traumatized at the party. The university administration intervened as well, pressuring SGA to change course.

"None of it is positive and it sounds very alienating, divisive and harmful," said Executive Vice President Susan Donovan in an email.

She means the idea of a party about America, not the complaints of professional layabouts and malcontents.

33 End any government guarantees for student loans.

When student has to convince a bank officer that the career field with that degree will allow them to repay the loan many of the crap "studies" programs will wither away on their own.

Would be students who can't make a case to get a loan and have to work and save for a year or 2 to begin college and prove themselves good loan candidates or have to work while attending college will get a good dose of common sense which will partly immunize them from marxist professors.

52 Lefties "love" for America is never a love for what America IS. Instead, it's a love for what America COULD BE, if only it would reject any traditions, laws, sentiments, constitutional requirements, etc., that offend Lefties.

Try this with your wife sometime. "Honey, I really love you. Not as you are, of course, but as you could be, if only you started listening to me on everything."

57 HBO is running a documentary on the Boston Marathon bombing.

Pretty straightforward with their approach. It's very moving and highly recommended, if you haven't seen it.

One of the most inspiring sequences of the film, as they are following some of the bombing victims in their recovery, a young couple, both of whom lost limbs, were given permission to seek care at Walter Reed.

As they are filming them in a gym setting, doing therapy, there are servicemen around them, some with significantly worse injuries, all of whom built a strong bond with this young couple.

One young Marine is talking about them, saying why they belong there with the recovery Veterans, that these two went to war, just like them. Only, in his words, he signed up for this, while they were living their lives, on American soil. It was something he said should never have happened, and for that, he admired them more than the service men who were also casualties of this war.

I'm finding ways to be proud of my country again. I allowed the political bullshit to get me down on America. I want to return. I'm the one who has been more lost than my country.

God bless America. Please.

90 "End any government guarantees for student loans."

Here's what will happen. As it always has.

Democrats will scream "Republicans hate _education_!!!"

Republicans will fold like a cheap card table.

"Education" always is a consistent positive poll winner.

There is an argument that for all the huge amount of money America is pouring into "education" at all levels * , students are getting very little actual meaningful education. What's needed are fundamental reforms at all levels, to deliver more actual education for less money. And, some sorts of useless expensive "education" ought well to be done away with.

Republicans have up till now proven either unwilling or unable to win with that argumentative tack. It remains to be seen if they are willing and able to do so now. Signs point to "no".

(* As a percentage of GDP, we spend on education well above most of our key international economic competitors, whose pupils from first grade through grad school consistently outperform ours in the league tables of actual learning.)

Seems to me these very specialyoung people (academia socialistica) are adapting perfectly to their environment. Although currently coccooned within safe spaces and in their nascent larval stage, vulnerable to attack and hyperacutely sensitive to nearly all stimuli, they'll become more durable when they reach maturity, called tenure. They already turned the volume up to 11 and then to 12, and then squeezed it up to 13, and they just can't turn the knob any more. Similar to how Norway as a nation buys in to all sorts of leftist nonsense, but when it comes to Global Warming and banning oil, they raise a big middle finger - -because of all the oil under the North Sea in Norwegian waters. 235 I really hope the next Congress totally overhauls the student loan program. While flushing out Title IX regs, and putting the onus on colleges for the success of their students.

I'd love to see Congress put in requirements and restrictions into the federally back student loans.
Such as: The recipient must be able to demonstrate the ability to change a tire, swim/tread water, and demonstrate proper firearm safety upon graduation/or every year.
Funds from a Federally backed student loan may not be spent at any institution that refuses ROTC programs. Said monies cannot be used at schools that admit/harbor illegals (illegals to be covered by immigration law). Said monies cannot be used for any ethnic/gender/ or other "studies" programs that promote civil divisions instead of national unity (Congress has a vested interest in promoting National Unity).
I'm sure we can come up with more restrictions and requirements, but I think this is a good start. Ideally all of higher ed should be privatized and switched to for profit. But that reform movement will take some time.

If the quality of life goes up, it's worth it. Find a nice place with a yard, get your current church to recommend one there, and move.

Your kids are little- a move now is far less traumatic than when they are older. (We moved every 2 years for the past 25, so our kids never stayed in one place more than a couple of years. It was fine when they were little, but we had issues when they were in high school) Put down new roots, enjoy more time with your husband, and experience a new part of the US.

And pray-pray a lot. That's going to help you most of all.

Ah, yes Hampshire College. Someone burned the flag so the admin decided
to fly the flag at half mast. Then the students were climbing the poles
and ripping them down. The admins answer? No flags now fly on campus.
Brilliant.

Also, if you're going to spend $62K a year on college, wouldn't you want to do it at a school people have fucking heard of?

282 4 I continue to expand my list of schools that immediately disqualify candidates for hire.

You can add William & Mary to that list.

Rode down the road this past weekend for my daughter to visit; info session and tour.

The info session starts with a panel discussion. Panel is made up of 5 people and I am not shitting you and to hell with identity politics.....so here we go:

White Female: Asst. Dir. of Admissions
Hispanic Female: Some sort of research professor
Black Female: Student
White Male: Student, clearly not straight
White Female: Dir. of the Freshman Experience

Are you fucking kidding me? Tuition money is being spent on some 6-figure Dir of Student Experience?!?!?!

Is this person scheduling beer bongs in my fraternity house and mixers with 2 sororities to my 1 fraternity house to increase the odds? Because that was my freshman experience and we managed just fine (from what I remember....)

So we move on to the tour and our tour guide is another obvious not straight white male who is a chemistry major and Hispanic Studies minor who proceeds to spend the next 90 minutes of my life talking about plays and the cheese club he founded and the Spanish-only language house he lives in and the cheese club he founded and how the university brings in puppies during exam final week for students to hang with since finals are sooooo stressful (with a lisp....)

I.
Am.
Not.
Shitting.
You.

The whole premise of the info session and tour was that the second oldest institution of higher learning in the country is really just a glorified 4-year day care/summer camp.

Not once was preparing students for the real world, to be a productive member of the work force mentioned the entire 3 hours we were engaged with these snowflakes.

Not.

321 I don't care if California wants to secede. I don't care that Texas wanted to secede if Hillary won. As far as I'm concerned, any state should have the right to secede from the union, provided they pay for all federal properties and return anything that is portable to the US government.

I think the people of California would find out very, very quickly they are not a viable nation on their own and don't make enough money to pay for all the stuff they need like power and water. I think the northern half would not want to be a nation with the south. But knock yourselves out. It would guarantee another Democrat never wins the presidency for the next generation or more.

One side of the political spectrum envisions 'America' as a Union of Socialist Soviet States, while the other half of the country bitterly clings to the ideas of 'America' as it was founded (minus slavery, of course).

When the political left looks at Trump they say he is 'unAmerican' because Trump is not a collectivist, and those leftists who controlled the federal government, the media, and Hollywood, want to 'take their country (power) back'.

So it all depends on how you define 'America'.

Actually that's not true. Mulholland (for whom the drive is named) brought water to LA (after a contretemps or two, IIRC).

The problem now is the eco-nuts won't permit construction of water infrastructure. When Moonbeam was first elected in 1975 the first thing he did was scotch a comprehensive water infrastructure project that was planned out and funded by the Legislature and his predecessor, Ronald Reagan. The population of CA then was 16 million. Now it's 38 million. So now we have a shortfall in the water supply.

395 Actually that's not true. Mulholland (for whom the drive is named) brought water to LA (after a contretemps or two, IIRC).

The problem now is the eco-nuts won't permit construction of water
infrastructure. When Moonbeam was first elected in 1975 the first thing
he did was scotch a comprehensive water infrastructure project that was
planned out and funded by the Legislature and his predecessor, Ronald
Reagan. The population of CA then was 16 million. Now it's 38 million.
So now we have a shortfall in the water supply.

Thanks, retards!

Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at November 22, 2016 01:37 PM (SRKgf)

Yeah, Mulholland's little contretemps was a dam failure that flooded the valley downstream and killed more than 400 people. Mulholland was not a trained engineer.

Not considered evil; just the power required is. CA isn't building enough power plants to make it cost effective. And no, no one would go thirsty because the majority of water goes to agriculture. The bad effect here is that food prices are insane.

Santa Barbara built a desal plant and then closed it because of a temporary break in the 50 year drought. It's still not cost effective to reopen yet.

I'm reminded of the banter between Adams and Jefferson near the end of 1776, when Adams takes issue over Jefferson's vocabulary:

ADAMS: The word is 'unalienable.' Not 'inalienable.'

JEFFERSON: I'm sorry, Mr. Adams, but 'inalienable' is correct.

ADAMS: I happen to be a Harvard graduate -

(Congress breaks out in laughter)

JEFFERSON: I attended William and Mary -

(even louder laughter)

And now both of those schools are laughingstocks.
