Andrew Sullivan Just Can't Quit Trig Palin

[G]iven this blog's coverage of governor Palin's various strange stories about Trig, and her continued refusal to provide any medical records to confirm her account, her speech to the Kansas Right To Life organization - her first public explanation for her unusual behavior, since the MSM decided it was a question that could not be asked - is worth entering into the public record.
She explains above what she describes as her "fleeting moment" of temptation to abort Trig when she found out she was pregnant at an out of state energy conference, and her decision to keep the pregnancy secret for seven months (an endeavor made easier by the fact that no one seeing her had any idea up to the very day she announced). I tend to assume that everything Palin says is untrue until proven otherwise, and in this case, have no basis to confirm or deny anything. But it is also only fair to give her own explanation for her secrecy an airing.
For the record, she says that she kept her pregnancy secret for seven months because there were "neanderthals" out there who would have refused to believe that a pregnant woman could handle her public duties as governor, and because of her own conflicted feelings about having a Down Syndrome child at the age of 44. She does not explain the bizarre circumstances of the day-long labor on various airplanes. But, hey, maybe at some point, she will. When she does, I will do my best to bring it to you. Maybe one day - who knows? - a journalist might even ask.

Sullivan continues pushing the claim that "no one could even tell she was pregnant" despite the fact that many reporters have gone on record to refute that and say it was entirely obvious.

6 Sullivan is simply lying. he knows that a lot of people note that she was clearly pregnant for a long time. and he also knows that Sarah's daughter could not have been pregnant with both her recent child and this child.

He says he assumes everything Sarah Palin says is untrue... but provides absolutely no reason for this extreme venom. What did Sarah Palin do to Andrew Sullivan? Be a better Catholic? He seems to really hate women, and his behavior here is so ridiculous.

Hey Andrew, I can explain it for you if you care to listen: she wasn't in labor on various airplanes. Her amniotic fluid started leaking when she was at a governor's conference in Texas. Sometimes that happens, many long weeks before a woman goes into labor. I know, because it happened to me.
She called her doctor, who told her to come on home. Don't panic, don't rush to the nearest hospital,just come on home.Which she did. When she arrived at home in Alaska (still not actually in labor, but still leaking amniotic fluid), the doctor induced labor because if more fluid leaks than is being replaced (yes, amniotic fluid replaces itself, isn't it amazing how that works, Andrew?), it can be dangerous for the baby. She wasn't in labor on the "various airplanes" of which you speak. She didn't go into labor until she was in Alaska and her doctor induced her labor using pitocin. Until then, she was merely leaking fluid, which happens. It's actually somewhat common. Of course, having no knowledge of women's bodies or the birth process, I wouldn't expect you to know all these details. In which case, I would expect you to keep yer yap shut up about things you clearly know nothing about until you've at least made an honest attempt to learn about them. Which you have not.

I just read on NRO someone from New Majority, Danielle Crittenden, say that it was wrong for Mary Ann Glendon to refuse to share a stage with Obama at Notre Dame's commencement speechbecause it could potentially appear that she was publicly questioning Obama's moral legitimacy. So according to Crittenden that waswrong but someone like Sullivan is going about public discourse the right way? What kind of bizarro world do we live in?

Yesterday, at a luncheon for new freshman moms at a Catholic high school (not Jesuit, acutally Catholic), the woman next to me said how much she liked her son's elementary school even though she wasn't Catholic because they were Jesuits and she was so liberal. She recommended it to me. When I said that was a problem because I was the opposite (of liberal), she jerked backwards, wide-eyed, like I had said something horribly outrageous. I don't think he was born outside the US, but there has to be something in there that he doesn't want people to know. For the record, Sarah Palin was over 40 when Trig was born. Older mothers (those over 35) are generally considered at higher risk for having babies with Down's Syndrome. Thus, I don't see the problem. Except that the truth isn't any fun for the Left, that is.

He made a post about energy policy... about how everyone should be forced to ride bicycles, or gas should be $7.00 a gallon, or some horrifically stupid comment of that sort and I knew right then that he was a nutter.
